She took the time to listen, offered multiple treatment options, and, most importantly, gave me real solutions instead of just telling me to "learn to live with it." Dr. Cohen has a calming presence that almost feels like she has healing powers. I know that sounds wild, but believe me, she somehow does. Doctor told me I had 30% hearing loss and need hearing aids. Okay. They billed my insurance for the full cost. Mind you, I never got hearing aids or was even fitted. But they billed my insurance for over $6000. They got the money and never once called me or returned any of my calls. Then they billed my insurance for another $6000. Why? This time it was rejected. Meanwhile, I still haven't heard from them even though they have my insurance money. They NEVER returned any of my calls so I could not get fitted for my hearing aids that they were already paid for. After 4 months of leaving tons of unreturned messages, they finally answered the phone. I asked what's happening and why they are keeping my money and not giving me my hearing aids or even calling me back? Their receptionist tells me I'm being rude and I need to apologize to her. WHAT?!?! I ask why they haven't returned any of my calls even though they've been paid thousands by my insurance company. She claims she returned all of my calls and left messages (a total lie). When I press her for the number she's been calling, she gives me a wrong phone number (off by one digit from mine) that she's been supposedly leaving messages for me. Total BS. ALSO...my correct phone number is RIGHT ON my intake form and was left on all of my messages. They are totally scamming and keeping my insurance money. I alerted my insurance company who also tried to get them to return the thousands of dollars they took from them. Guess what, the insurance adjuster says they won't return his calls either. A major fraud case is now being opened by my insurance company. In the mean time, I still don't have hearing aids. I cannot get them anywhere else because Union Audiology billed my insurance, took all of the money and now won't return it. I may lose out on my deductible benefits for the year and I cannot hear very well. Do not trust this company. My insurance company is preparing to file a fraud claim against them while I'm still disabled with no way to get hearing aids...that Union Audiology was paid thousands of dollars for and won't return. Do not use this company. You've been warned.

As a low-income senior, I researched and discovered that I could qualify for free hearing aids or financial assistance through the Miracle-Ear Foundation's Gift of Sound program. However, I was never offered this option. When I first met with the salesman, Mario, I expressed my concerns and asked about financial support. He indicated that assistance was available; however, the payment plan he presented was unsatisfactory. After conducting some research, I found that my insurance covers half the cost of the hearing aids that I was quoted by Miracle-Ear. I found out that the price that I was supposed to pay was double the price that the brand had to offer. When I returned the aids, I wanted to avoid a sales pitch, so I told Mario a small lie, claiming I was going to get cochlear implants instead. Upon returning the devices, I found his attitude condescending, which confirmed that I had made the right decision. I later learned that he earns his income through commissions and that Miracle-Ear only sells one brand: Signia. As a professional singer, I sought a better alternative. The audiologist my insurance referred me to, who used to work for Miracle-Ear, recommended a different brand, Phonak, which is renowned for musicians. Not only is Phonak considered a top brand, but I am also getting it at half the price of the Signia hearing aids, for which I was charged more than the net price.

However, I was desperate because my tinnitus and hyperacusis had become unbearable, so I went forward with the appointment. Unfortunately, the most disappointing part was the doctor's tone and attitude. When I tried to explain my symptoms and timeline, he repeatedly interrupted me and dismissed my explanation, even accusing me of being wrong about when my symptoms began. As a doctor, having empathy, patience, and understanding is essential--especially when dealing with patients in pain. I left the appointment feeling unheard, rushed, unresolved, and honestly taken advantage of given the amount I paid. To clarify, I did not personally schedule the appointment, a family member did, as I was in significant ear pain at the time. My family member was aware of the pricing before scheduling. That said, I take responsibility for not reading reviews beforehand and assuming the experience would be positive since the doctor advertises himself as an expert in tinnitus. I am giving one star solely because the front desk staff were kind and professional.
