I have been struggling with tinnitus for a few years and have experienced several debilitating spikes. My most recent spike led me to Dr. Cohen, and I truly don't know what I would have done without her. I've seen several highly regarded audiologists who specialize in tinnitus over the years, and while many were knowledgeable, none came close to Dr. Cohen. Her compassion, kindness, and empathy are unmatched. She took the time to listen, offered multiple treatment options, and, most importantly, gave me real solutions instead of just telling me to "learn to live with it." Dr. Cohen has a calming presence that almost feels like she has healing powers. I know that sounds wild, but believe me, she somehow does. I also want to mention that the front office staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I will be recommending Dr. Cohen to all of my friends and family without hesitation. We have seen 7 doctors for tinnitus and she was the most comprehensive and not money hungry! First, you walk into her office and she has everything for tinnitus there so you know you are in the right place. Our consult was amazing, she really listened and told us things we didnt know, as compared to our other consults! She understood what the ENT diagnosed and added to it. On top of amazing ideas and free websites she gave us during consult, we are working on a game plan that is better than the others. She cares! Not greedy like the others and way more knowledgeable!!! I want to begin by saying that I feel that Dr. Cohen is very knowledgeable about tinnitus and really helped me to understand the dynamics about this condition. Working with her, I was able to get tools to help me cope with it and I feel her methods were open minded and creative, which I really appreciate. Things we were doing were not giving me the relief I was seeking so we agreed to move forward with me buying the Lenire device. Having completed six months or 180 hours on the device and following the treatment protocol to a T, I can say from my perspective that I don't feel anything has really changed for me. What has been very disappointing about this experience is the Lenire is extremely expensive almost 5K and health insurance will not cover it. Once you have completed 180 hours, the tongue stimulating device that comes with it stops working and in order to continue working with the entire device, you must purchase, another tongue stimulating device at a price of $395. So, if I was to continue working with Lenire, I would have to spend another $395 on a device which will die in another 180 hours with no guarantee of my symptoms changing-- quite an expensive gamble. It seems the Lenire company has structured things in a way to maximize their profit--so good for them, but for those of us who are tinnitus sufferers, this has been a major disappointment. Hearing test results for me indicated there had been improvement, but the problem is I was seeking treatment for symptoms and haven't seen any change in the symptoms so even though my test results show improvement it doesn't really make a difference for me. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that you can sell your Lenire either because it would need to be reprogrammed and it seems the company makes it so you can't reprogram a used device. I tried reaching out to Lenire, but they did not respond--go figure! In conclusion, I say buyer beware! read more

They are inconvenient to go to. They should validate parking. I was told by Dr Cohen I didn't need to use the wax guards. In fact when I went to the new hearing aid place the woman was afraid to remove some of the wax that collected in a place that would damage the speaker. Don't let Dr Cohen remove wax from ears as if you have health insurance or Medicare it is cheaper or free. When I had to send the aids for repairs she gave me old hearing aids that still required batteries instead of rechargeable ones. She also wanted me to buy hearing aids that were rechargeable but the batteries were bad and she wanted me to use one use batteries. read more

Dr Cohen posted a response to my review. First of all, these events didn't happen 2 years ago. It's a shame that she would lie. And she didn't stop renting out office space that day, that's another lie because we continued going there until recently. Absolutely best experience ever! I was diagnosed with vertigo and went in for ear wax removal and my goodness she was amazing and most importantly very sweet and knowledgeable! When I was diagnosed with sudden hearing loss on my right ear the ENT referred me to the House Clinic and I saw three different doctors. I was so depressed and devastated because the level of tinnitus was unbearable. The doctors just wanted me to move on with my life and really didn't care about my current emotions. Two of the doctors said they would recommend that I get a cochlear or a bone anchored implant due to to the severity of my hearing loss. I continued to be depressed, was determined to find an alternative solution, and started researching different audiologists that focused on tinnitus. This is when I found Dr. Cohen, who is an Angel sent from God. When I first met with her she was empathetic, in tune with my emotions, and wanted to hear my story. She was determined to help me emotionally and try to bring some hearing back with different treatments. Within a couple of months my tinnitus had lessened and subsequently I went from 0 percent word recognition to 30 percent. When I was more emotionally stable we discussed about getting a hearing aid and I decided to move forward to try one. The day I was connected to to the hearing aid a miracle from God happend because when the device was connected to Bluetooth I was able to hear clearly. I started crying of happiness and thanked Dr. Cohen for all her help. I would recommend Dr. Cohen for any hearing loss and tinnitus problems she is empathetic, knowledgeable, supportive, determined, caring, and overall a great and amazing person. Never would have imagined getting excited about an audiologist but here I am writing a glowing review! I chose Dr. Cohen because as a busy, single mom that works with patients, having hearing loss throws a big ol wrench in my daily life. I knew I needed to switch to Lyric hearing aids as my life got much more hectic and so when selecting a Lyric provider, needed the most convenient, flexible doctor I could find, so I wouldn't have to miss work, etc. in the event of a failing heating aid. I was beyond impressed with the courtesy of the staff and the knowledge of Dr. Cohen. Dr. Cohen performed numerous tests to get the most accurate clinical picture of where my hearing loss was at currently and what was causing it. She is also very friendly and I felt very comfortable with her. And now for the icing on the cake... because of the nature of my hearing loss, it is progressive and will require surgery at some point (as I was advised also 3 years ago by an ENT), Dr. Cohen performed some extra tests (advising me of any extra fees upfront) and based on those results advised me to meet with a surgeon sooner rather than later as I may be a candidate now. Who does that?!?! Who has that kind of professional integrity to send a prospective patient elsewhere to ensure they get the best care possible? Who? Dr. Cohen!!! I trust her immensely and wouldn't hesitate to refer anyone experiencing hearing loss over to her. She keeps up on the latest & greatest technology, and was able to offer multiple alternatives to the problems I was having with behind the ear hearing aids. Over the past seven years, I have grown older and my hearing has decreased. I was referred, to Dr. Cohen about three years ago and with her assistance have been able to maintain a marginal decrease with hearing loss. I am a general contractor. My daily activities mean that I am around loud noises almost every day. Dr. Cohen has me on a regular hearing maintenance testing program and I can't say enough in her favor. This is Samanta Lokes, I am the mother of 3 children on the spectrum of Autism. I recently had the wonderful experience to find Dr. Shahrzad Cohen in a research that I did online trying to find the best specialist in town for a Central Auditory Processing for which I needed an expert consultation to be able to advocate for this service at my children School District, Insurance or Regional Center. I did know that she was one of a few Dr. that specializes in this field in Los Angeles and close areas, but I never thought that I was going to find such an knowledgeable, humble, compassionate and dedicated professional being so young and so approachable. Due to my children needs I had become an expert mother about dealing with many professionals in the Disabilities field from Districts employees, Regional Center employees, Health Insurances prestige doctors like BJ Freeman and researchers at prestige Hospitals like CHLA, White Memorial and Universities like UCLA, Cal State Long Beach, and Cal State LA personal, Colleges, Government officials, Administrative courts judges and personal, Family Law Courts judges and employees, attorneys, Public and Private agencies and non profit organizations, Parents Advocacy and support groups all over LA. My first impression when I got to her offices was that her team of professionals were really attentive and sensitive to our individual, complex and private circumstances. More than a Doctor, I found a refugee in Dr. Cohen center as she did know exactly what my children cases problem, barrier for treatment and the kind of advocacy that would take to get those services in place. Surprisingly, she did know very well the kind of issues that parents with special needs face and her work is excellent at being pretty sensitive and supportive about our unique circumstances. I found that day a place that I would love to continue to work with in the future, because I did know right away that I was in the right place and I feel very grateful with my gut feeling for getting me there. I will be proud to pass her info to any family with special needs children in need of this kind of evaluations that are pretty rare to get and that help our children learning. Unfortunately, there is not much awareness about Central Auditory Processing Disorder out there. In my personal experience, I was just recently diagnosed at age 38 in college with it and I know by first hand exactly how interfere with learning. I never got treatment, and I deal with barriers to keep up with my teachers instruction, but I work hard and only take one class at the time so I am able to give my 100%. My older son is a new college student and he had the fortune to receive treatment for Central Auditory Processing Disorder in High School and thanks to to intervention and treatment for his learning disability, his attorneys help and my advocacy he was able to enter College, have a decent placement, he is able to pass his mid terms and be in a general education class with accommodations that Dr. Cohen is able to prescribe for your children IEP's or DSPS Plan, and most importantly to help them success in their future careers. Because we as parents of special needs children MUST believe in our children abilities and capability to SUCCESS at the same time that we fight with strong advocacy to offer ACCESS to quality treatments like this via highly educated and experienced in dealing with Autism and other Learning Disabilities that knows very well the spectrum and the kind of profound impact that has in their learning so we can open the paths for their success. I went in for a routine ear cleaning, and the doctor showed me that my ears were actually completely clean. They did not charge me for an ear cleaning! The doctor conducted a hearing test instead. Extremely kind and polite staff! I would recommend 10/10 read more

She does NOT test for APD. Although her websites indicates that the center does. When I called for an appointment the front desk person said she did. She will charge over $400 for consultation and hearing assessment and then refer to another Dr in town to do APD assessment. I've been dealing with hearing and its associated issues for many years due to a work-related injury. I recently received a referral by my primary treating physician to Dr. Cohen's office for my problems with hearing loss and tinnitus issues which still drives me crazy and was hopeful that Dr. Cohen was able to arrest the issue. Dr. Cohen does not concern herself too much in how her office is run. When I found that the office lied about scheduling and receipt of supplies to me, Dr. Cohen did not look into the matter and instead supported her staff despite of the evidence that clearly had spoken for itself. When I was first treated by Dr. Cohen, I felt she was very astute with her audio background. However, as time went on, it was comments that offset the positive from office manager like Sandra made statements like "I was extended more time than anyother patient they had and if I did not like the service I could find myself another audiologist", which is what I did. This was done from the beginning and something that finally no longer was tolerated among other issues after Dr. Cohen herself repeatedly gave me "false" information in my case that caused me problems and was that on top of the egg shells everytime dealing with Jessica in the front office that knew not what she had spoken many of the times and I had to bite my tongue to keep the peace. I did hear somewhat better than before I had met Dr. Cohen, but at what cost and irritation and was it worth it? If she was open to feedback and the concerns of the patients, I believe her practice would by far thrive farther than where it is. I will not recommend her and the office to anyone as I do not condone anyone lying and in this case stating that I would not keep my scheduled appointment that they made. They were instructed from day one never to make my appointments due to conflict which they ignored. They also lied to my attorney as well, which which was very costly to my case.
