I am sure at one time in my life I had good teeth. When I was a child and my permanent teeth starting coming in, it was never known to me that our family dentist was eventually brought up on charges and lost his license after mom's got together and began comparing notes. We children ALL had at least 2 fillings. We were ages 5 and up. For a town that was diligent about fluoride the parents were stunned. Some of the moms got together and demanded our x-rays while experiencing tremendous pushback. Mom's, as mom's do, pushed, and the mother tigers prevailed! Going to an pediatric dentist in another town , all traveling together our parents, do bravely gave our various x-rays over and agreed to dental exams from this new dentist. Right off I liked the kid's dentist because there were toys and I got to squirt water, air and run the hydraulic chair without reprimand. Not every family participated but what was found in those presented showed a startling image, an unsettling inconsistency was demonstrated--large fillings where normal x-rayed teeth hung on a view box. I do not remember any bad talk about our dentist by our parents to us, just that we would be changing dentists. It seems he would be leaving. I thought I didn't want him to move and was sad because he had a nice daughter in my school. That next year we moved and my sister and I were placed with a new pediatric/family dentist! News came that our previous dentist could no longer practice because as mother explained it "he had hurt his patients." I felt lucky that he had not hurt me. He did not ever hit me and I would have told! Later I realized there is another kind of hurt? My hurt was drilling underaged teeth, reviving almost all of the tooth so that there is nothing to hold onto the filling. I have a lot of root canals and crowns because of it. My new dentist salvaged what he could. NOW COMES DR. LAMPEE AND HIS TEAM! No judgement just kind evaluation from that moment on a work plan. By this time, in my 60's, I have lots to get done but I am in on every discussion as is my sweet husband , Bruce. After years of old cracked feelings which suck air and trap food, I will get those sealed and crowned. Fractured teeth from not enough tooth around giant fillings will be crowned. Those two too late will have a beautiful implant. When finished my beautiful teeth will not reveal the horror my first dentist imposed on me--a 5 year girl of the 1950's which speaks volumes on it's own. Every step with Dr. Lampee and staff is open and explained. The cost is all inclusive no matter how much work may be needed upon further exam. Because MY PRE-LAMPEE dental appointments, long and arduous we're painful and anxiety producing I am a big fan of the SLEEP DENTISTRY DEFINED practice. In my case it is mandatory by my choice. Had I not found SLEEP DENTISTRY DEFINED and given choices, I may have waited to the point of needing a full mouth extraction and implants. After fifteen years (or more) of not seeing a dentist I recently decided to get over any embarrassment or fear I had and started taking care of business. I made a dental appointment to the only office in Salem that accepted my insurance and underwent the standard consult and cleaning. I received a priority run down of needed care, wisdom's and a decaying molar from an ancient filling being of soul concern. However, although so far I liked the office I found, I was advised to see an oral surgeon for extracting my wisdom teeth. Reluctantly, I began the hunt. Who likes the idea of having four, possibly five teeth pulled when they haven't been acquainted with any dentists for well over a decade? Most offices where difficult when it came to sorting through my insurance coverage, sometimes leaving the responsibility up to me, and once that was figured out the other bothersome issue was that some doctors refused to pull all my wisdom's at once. If I was going to get this done I wanted it all in one sitting. I was scared, and did not want any extra sessions of discomfort from healing than I had to bear. When I came across Dr. Lampee's office, Cyndi, his secretary was a delight! She was so pleasant and quickly (as well as gladly) handled the details of my insurance coverage. She was even able to give me accurate estimates before she started making her calls. The Smile Center was able to look at the X-rays that were previously taken by the other dentist, rather than me making an extra trip for another consult, and Dr. Lampee said he could extract all four wisdom's and the decaying molar in one sitting. Phew! Nervously, I opted to undergo the extractions with only local anesthetics versus the sleep dentistry. My decision was only due to my own financial situation. But I cant believe how smooth and comfortable things went on the day of my appointment! Cyndi was just as pleasant as she was on the phone when I arrived at the office, and Jade was wonderful as well. I really got a sense that Dr. Lampee's staff just loved working him. Dr. Lampee extracted all five of my teeth while I was awake, and I never felt a wink of pain! He and his assistant Chelsea were so attentive, conscientious, and reassuring during my procedure. I was amazed at the treatment I received compared to my past experiences. Once my teeth were pulled Dr. Lampee saw me out to the waiting room and advised my worrysome boyfriend ( Thanks Jade and Cyndi for keeping him at ease) where to go for my pain prescription before commuting home to keep me comfortable, and even suggested getting some Ensure for me to drink. Thanks Doc, that was a blessing! Post procedure I had no pain, minimal swelling, and only took my pain meds for one day! Dr. Lampee even called to check on how I was doing before my post-op exam. It seems like I healed and was back to normal in no time. :o) I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Lampee, and I will gladly be commuting to his office for the rest of my dental care! read more

Before seeing Dr Lampee, I was terrified of the dental office. It actually took me a number of MONTHS to gain courage to walk into his office and I was phisically trembling and my knees were wobbling. He was patient and his staff were very comforting and understanding. They have equipment and skills to make the visit as comfortable as it can be, even for a terrified patient like me. Once I was in the office they were able to walk me through the exam, and form a treatment plan. Dr Lampee was able to reasure me and was very encouraging. I was embarrassed at the state of my teeth, but he was very positive and cheerfully said, that was fine, he can fix that! His positive and down to earth approach was greatly appreciated. I was able to walk out of the office with a plan and a prescription, and returned two days later for work to be done. Dr Lampee and his staff were very good at what they do. I was relaxed and anxiety free through the whole proceedure. I am odd and the twighlight sleep stuff they use so I should not remember, does not work that way for me, and I remember the whole event, but it was not terrifying. I was relaxed which sounds odd, considering my phobia, but it is true. I do not feel like I am ready to just walz right into any old dentist office, but Dr Lampee has been able to get me comfortable enough that I will return to his office and staff. By the way, Jack the dog is also very good at relaxing you. They bring him out to terrified patients like me, and he rolls right over and wants you to rub his belly and then falls asleep at your feet. He's so soft and sweet that I think he lowered my blood pressure just by being Jack. I never thought I could be comfortable in the dentist office. I am glad Dr Lampee has proven that idea of mine as wrong. read more

I am living in Olympia Washington and drive to Beaverton Oregon to the Beaverton Smile Center for my dental work. Here's why: Last October 2010 I was moving from Eugene to Olympia. I picked up a salad from the store as all my 'stuff' was in the moving van and ready to move. As I sat on the floor to eat my salad my very last bite was a crouton. As I bit down I felt and heard a crack. So the next day I wake up and could not eat as I was in a lot of pain. The next day I googled and called many dentist offices in the Olympia area and paying out of pocket I was in tears at the prices I was going to be charged. Then I decided to seach further away. I ended up finding a place called Beaverton Smile Center. I made the call. I was greeted with compassion and a sincere concern about my pain, having no insurance and driving so far. I made the appt as they had an opening in two days from my call. When I arrived I felt so welcome and relaxed. The office was clean, bright and friendly, very homey feeling. Dr Lampee discovered that I had cracked the tooth so bad the tooth was unsavable. He gave me several options and payment plans. I made several more trips up to have my new crown procedure in Oregon. It's a two hour drive on a good day. My new crown looks so awesome that when I got home I couldn't even tell which tooth was a crown. Dr Lampee is so passionate about his work. He is very skilled and is very professional yet friendly and caring. I agree with all the other testiments. If you suffer from dental anxiety or need extensive dental work performed I highly recommend visiting Dr. Lampee for sedation dentistry. My husband has a history of bad dental experiences and has suffered through many procedures- not just on a physical level, but on a mental level as well. When he found out he needed a root canal he opted to use sleep dentistry. Not only did this put him at ease about the procedure, he didn't experience the normal anxiety and post-dental stress that he usually experiences. The staff was extremely personable and Dr. Lampee explained everything that would happen prior to the procedure and what to expect afterwards. Some dental offices make you feel like a number or just another appointment passing through the door- not the case here. Going to the dentist inherently compels anxiety. I am 52-years-old, and yes, it is still true. However, when you approach reception at Dr. Lampee's, you'll see this blonde little ball of loving joy behind the desk. It's Jack. Jack is their darling Spaniel rescue dog. Jack won't come out unless you ask, but couple Jack with the thorough and caring staff, and not to be cliche, but it just feels like home. I have honestly watched Jack eliminate anxiety from more than one child's eye. And it doesn't only work on children. That sense of calm follows you right through your appointment as you are greeted by the Hygienist/Technicians, and then Dr. Lampee. Dr. Lampee is top notch. My family and I transferred to Portland from the Bay Area about a year ago and needed a new family practitioner and dentist. I wasn't happy about it because it took us so long to find the best down there. My wife looked at most of the on-line reviews and called around before we visited a few different dentists, one being Dr. Lampee. I always gave huge props to my dentist in San Francisco who's been a dentist for over 30 years, but Dr. Lampee opened our eyes to a whole new kind of practice. It's no secret that I used to hate, hate, hate the dentist. I have avoided them for years because of really bad experiences (bad dental work, humiliating scenarios and a horrid extraction of all four wisdom teeth), BUT, Dr. Lampee has sincerely changed all that. I have had a ton of dental work done by him over the last year (crowns, root canals, redoing old, poorly done work, fillings, etc.) and my entire attitude and genuine fear of the dentist is gone. Fantastic Dental Office! ***When I visited the Smile Center, it was for the sole purpose of having my mouth imaged via 3-D Cone Beam Tomography. I was not interested in any other services or a new dentist, I just wanted to know why my mouth still hurt months after oral surgery. To be honest, I was feeling completely negative about the entire Dental profession. But, all that changed after spending time at the Smile Center. Dr. Lampee and all of the staff at the Smile Center, treated me with respect, understanding and amazing care. They were helpful, timely, informative, humorous and there was a sense that each one of them truly cares about ensuring everyone who walked in the door had an excellent experience. Today was my third visit to Dr. Lampee's office. Heath is such a nice guy and an excellent dentist. Today was just a check-up and cleaning, but I've also had fillings done there. I don't have anxiety about going to the dentist like some do, but I could imagine if I did, this would be a good place to go. It's a clean and relaxed environment, and all of the staff are calm, friendly, and helpful. They go out of their way to make you feel like you are a part of the family by sending thank you notes and birthday cards. They also recently introduced a new automated system for scheduling visits and reminders. You definitely don't have to use, but it is nice if you are busy. I got a text a couple days before my visit as a reminder and one the day of the appointment. They are also pretty easy to get into to schedule appointments. Going to the dentist never bothered me my entire life. I got through braces twice and even having a tooth pulled. I have had a colorful history with dentists that has not always worked out well for me. I drive from Camas, about 40 minutes out of the way, just to go here. I've had some pretty terrible military dentist experiences and have had to have 8 teeth pulled so you could say I was apprehensive when it came to going again. My wife went first and swore to me it was the best dental experience she's ever had so I reluctantly went. I will never go any where else. Dr. Lampee and his staff are extremely caring, non-judgmental, and thorough in explanation of procedures. They offer sedation which is an amazing option for those out there like me who's heart rate goes to about 160 when they hear a dental drill. I recently moved to Beaverton while in the midst of have major work on my teeth. In fact, I was about to have implants and was not looking forward to it with the dentist I was seeing in Arizona.
