Ryuji was fantastic. I worked with him last week for some editorial and professional pictures for my startup. We ended up with 5 great pictures that I will be able to use for my PR profiles and media outreach. I am thrilled with how they came out. He makes anyone who doesn't like to be in front of the camera feel very comfortable. Tips for success: 1. Read the prep email Ryuji sends before your session! 2. If you are wanting to have your makeup done, have it done at the studio. The makeup artist will review your outfit with you as well as do a test shot with Ryuji to make sure that there aren't any adjustments that need to be made. For example, I was wearing a white blazer and we ended up needing more blush than I'd normally wear, but came out perfect in the photos. 3. Prepare for a long session. Mine was in the evening to get the light just before sunset. I got to the studio at 4:30 for makeup and didn't leave until about 10:30. This may be longer than most sessions, because of the number of shots I needed, but there is definitely a process to getting the right shot. 4. If you are having an outside shoot, you need to be able to be flexible with the day to get the best weather. Process Overview: 1. Makeup and test shot in studio 2. Outside for first set of pictures. After taking a handful of pictures, you review the pics immediately with Ryuji to see if you both like the location, lighting, background, anything in the pic you want to change, etc. 3. You take some more with the tweaks you discussed and review again. 4. In each of the reviews you are tagging the ones that you like the best. 5. You do items 2-4 for each location/outfit 6. Before meeting with Ryuji Suzuki, I always dreaded getting a professional head shot. I was beginning applications and interviews, so I knew it was time to get an updated one. In one line, Ryuji Suzuki is the ONLY photographer in Boston you should book for your photos. Here's why: 1) He is the highest level of professional. He communicated with me promptly and respectfully. He was courteous when I arrived and throughout my entire appointment. I also received a completely upfront and transparent estimate of what I would receive and the costs associated without any hidden charges or dramatic mark ups. I don't know about you, but leaving school/work during the week for a photography session is more or less impossible for me. The fact that he had weekend appointments and was very flexible with my schedule was tremendously helpful (and rare). All in all, he is the perfect professional photographer. A 10+++ out of 10.
