Thick, rich, tangy with just the right kick of pepper--like a warm slap in the face from an old friend who knows you needed it. Honestly, if this soup were a person, I'd leave it everything in my will. Consistently perfect, which is saying a lot in a world full of disappointing sequels and watery broths. My dining partner, loyal as ever, ordered the sesame chicken--a classic, reliable, sticky-sweet MVP. It's the kind of dish that knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to be anything else. Like your favorite 90s sitcom: comforting, predictable, and always leaves you a little happier than when you started. You can't go wrong with it unless you're one of those people who thinks ketchup is spicy. Now, me--I decided to get bold. Brave. Adventurous, even. I ordered the Sizzling Scallop and Beef because I saw the word "sizzling" and got all hot and bothered. Let's just say... the dish sizzled more in concept than execution. First, the beef and scallop themselves? Decent. The scallops had a nice sear and weren't rubbery, so no complaints there. The beef was tender-ish, not a shoe sole, and full of flavor so points for that too. But the vegetables--oh, the vegetables--were clearly having an identity crisis. Undercooked and a little stringy in that "did-we-even-try?" sort of way. I love a crisp snap pea as much as the next food snob, but I didn't come here to gnaw through a jungle. Now for the plot twist: there was fruit in the mix. Surprise! Normally I'd raise an eyebrow, but shockingly, the fruit was the best part--sweet, juicy, and weirdly harmonious with the seafood and beef. It was like a B-list actor who unexpectedly steals the movie. Didn't see that coming, but hey, at least someone showed up to perform. Final verdict: Hot and Sour Soup - Still my ride or die. Sesame Chicken - Reliable boyfriend material. Sizzling Scallop and Beef - Gave me a lukewarm hug and asked me to pretend it was fire. Would I go back? Obviously. Would I order the sizzling mystery again? Only if I'm in the mood to chew through missed potential. Stick with the classics, folks. They're classics for a reason. We have eaten Heaven Dragon for years, always great Chinese food! Last night we ordered sesame chicken, chicken was dry, not enough sauce and I ordered Chicken Fried Rice with it, paid the xtra $3 for the chicken. We just got fried rice which was also dry. Also, had the Walnut Shrimp, not as tasty as it was in the past. Wondering if there has been a change in kitchen staff which would be a bummer. Every time we come here we are delighted by the hospitality, food and our experience. It is always busy but they make you feel as if you're the only ones there. The portions are more than generous not to mention totally awesome plating and taste. I had the Teriyaki Chicken my wife had the Cashew Shrimp and my brother in law had the Moo Shu Pork. The sides were selected were equally delicious and huge in portions. Heaven Dragon has never changed the setting is storybook as you feel you're actually in China. My family loves this place! We travel to go here. Today, we got the gourmet dinner for four, which includes enough food for approximately 12 meals! Middle of the road Chinese food at best and they have raised their prices substantionally since 2019. I understand the price of food has gone up and inflation, but for the quality of the food, I think you can find better bang for your buck as most entrees are now over $15-16 bucks when they used to be $9-10. Again, the food is decent but not high quality and surly not worth it anymore sadly. The lemon chicken is good, it is our go-to. Sometimes it is crispier than others which means it's fresher and the egg rolls are delish! Sidenote: beware that fried rice here is really just white rice tossed in soy sauce, which is also kind of a bummer. If you are in a pinch or just really crazy any Chinese food, this will do, but if you want a knock-your-socks-off meal at a fair price, I would continue looking at options. read more

Our recent experience at a new to us Chinese restaurant in Denver was fairly unsatisfying, so we made the trek out to Arvada to visit an old pal. The food preparation is solid here for Americanized Chinese. The portions are ample. This is why we have gone out of our way to support this business every so often for the last 15 years. When ordering takeout, they are very efficient as they have a steady stream of business. This place isn't cheap but the portions reflect the pricing. Do not use a card here CASH ONLY! My parents used a new credit card they received just days before when we ate here so the only charge SHOULD have been for the restaurant meal, however when they looked at the statement the next day, they had a charge for the meal as well as a $54 dollar charge to Apple (they are android user and do not have Apple accounts of any kind). We when went back to confront the charge, they blew use off like it was no big deal and told us to just call the credit card company to have it reversed. The waitress who served us was there and basically laughed us out of the place. Obviously we have no hard proof she used the card but it was only used ONCE and it was at this restaurant. Their lack of concern and demeanor towards my parents paired with the waitresses' guilty grin said all we needed to know. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

I rarely go with 5 stars but I will say the few carry out orders so far have been delicious! I will go with "The best in Arvada". Recently ordered some appetizers. Fried crab meat cheese wantons and steamed dumplings. The crab meat wantons were good and I would say pretty standard around town, but the dumplings were amazing! HUGE, juicy with awesome flavor. Enough to call it a meal for sure! The staff is nice, the place is clean and all the food is above average with good portion size. I haven't seen anyone eating in the dining room so not sure if they allow it at this time. It does appear to be open for seating. Anyways, great local Chinese Food and definitely would recommend. This is my 'go to' Chinese restaurant. They have all the classics. As a family, we usually order Orange chicken, King Pao chicken, and beef and broccoli. Portions are large and family of 6 could easily share. This place is near the worst Chinese food restaurant I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. I've tried them more than once so this review is not based on a single visit. The staff is lovely, the woman up front is as nice as can be. The restaurant is mostly clean. However, the food is garbage. They oil the heck out of every dish, even after requesting "light on the oil". This place is capable of causing coronary artery disease so watch out. They laden their dish's with so much sauce, that it flat out kills the dish. The dishes are more like a soup or stew that's loaded with msg and Canola oil. I've tried a number of their dishes and sadly they were all horrible. Lastly, their prices are through the roof. $17.95 for Chicken with Broccoli? It's madness. Food is awful. Meats are marinated (or I really should say, fat is marinated) to tenderize the fat. I ordered pork w/ garlic sauce. Dish was not edible. I picked apart what should have been the pork in the dish. I found nothing but pork fat. Horrible. I had to throw it away. We also ordered the beef and chicken dish. Beef was also marinated to hide the amount of fat contained in the meat. I've been running into this phenomenon recently where, low quality meat is marinated to death to hide the poor quality of the meat. Save yourself having to pay over $60 for 2 meals that requires one to chew rubbery meat that resembles chewing gum. read more

This is our local spot to get Chinese food. It's very pretty inside with lots of attention to detailin the windows and work. This is my fav Chinese restaurant in the Arvada area. I always get the sesame tofu. It's the BEST - tofu is crispy and the sauce is perfect. FYI - if you're vegan like me, don't get the lunch special because it comes with a Rangoon and egg roll. Also - each of their locations seems similar but your food will be a bit different. The only reason they get a "5" is because you can't give a "10". OMG their orange chicken is to die for (General Tso the same), and the fried rice (chicken or veggie) is awesome. The chicken fried rice is full of white meat chicken. Who does that? Love it! I'm not a Mongolian beef guy, but customers tell me it's also terrific, along with the sesame chicken. Right now on a Friday night they are overwhelmed. I waited a very long time (95 minutes). I can't blame them for that - nobody wants to cook on a Friday night and the other Chinese place down the road is closed (why?). We've done takeout here probably 20 times. The food has always been awesome. The orders are correct and hot. No reason to go elsewhere. Sometimes I think the prices are a buck or two high... then I eat the food and I'm in heaven ( no dragon). I was visiting a friend in Arvada and we decided on Chinese takeout near his house. Heaven Dragon was close and didn't have really bad reviews so we ordered pork asparagus in black bean sauce and "treasure of the sea". They were ready when we picked up and the food was hot. However, when we opened it at home, it had leaked (onto my pants too.) Then the big disappointment. The food was utterly forgettable and even somewhat repulsive. The "treasure of the sea" was supposed to have crab meat but had "krab" (fake crab) instead. The sauce was too thick, the cloudy-clear whitish stuff that resembles the unmentionable, and it was tasteless. The vegetables were overcooked, and while the seafood was good the sauce and vegetables really made the dish "meh." Then the pork asparagus in bean sauce disappointed even more. Super gluey, sweet and tasteless sauce and utterly dead and overcooked veggies ruined the dish totally. None of us could even eat regular portions. What a disappointment: I won't be back. read more
