We used to eat here about weekly: The prices were reasonable (although they since have risen DRAMATICALLY!!) and the food was good. But we stopped going because of poor service. For most of the time, the main service problem was that the chief waitress was often obnoxious and loud. But we put up with that until they committed an act of rudeness such that I had never experienced before in a restaurant. The events occurred on an evening in which we brought guests with us: two other adults and their two small children. They had a series of take-out orders that evening, which they were prioritizing over in-restaurant customers. For about a half hour the staff simply refused to take our order, telling us to wait and order later. Eventually, they agreed to take our drink requests---which, except for water, never came. Meanwhile, people were coming in and picking up food regularly, while we sat there and they refused to even let us get into the order queue! Finally, after we'd been there at least 45 minutes, the kids were hungry and restless, so we started to leave. The waitress saw us leaving, and came over and disingenuously asked whether we wanted to order now. We said that because of the children we couldn't wait any longer, and we left. This contemptuous treatment of faithful in-restaurant customers was too much for us, and we have never gone back. read more

Searching the area, we found a quiet unassuming, in a quiet neighborhood strip mall, simple place. Read the reviews, Hmmm sounds interesting. When entering in an off hour, there were other people filling the tables, "it must be good! With others' here at this time" What I found; Huge portions of lunch time food at a very reasonable cost! The Egg Drop soup was EXCELLENT, The Shrimp, well my Aspen devoured after I had one, it was plump - tender and flavorful. The Veggies, this is MY YUM and PLENTIFUL!! Fried rice - not so fried rather a steamed rice with soy, the egg roll was crisp, smaller than others (seems to be the new fashion these days) filled with wonderful veggies. Did I mention the Egg Drop Soup was DELICIOUS!!!! Our Server required being won over- at first, need to win her over with some compliments, then she smiled and giggled. This was LUNCH menu and it is plentiful and reasonable cost! The place is very clean and ample seating. Meals come quickly, be prepared. No outside seating, and it's a chilly October day. After we tried Lu House on a crazy busy Christamas Eve and had a great experience, we decided to try it again. And we were not disappointed! We ordered a to go order, so I can not comment on the dine in experience. However, the lady who took my order on the phone was friendly and made sure to verify the items in my order so that it was accurate. And upon picking up our order, we were happy to see everything was in there. We ordered crab cheese wontons, which were filled nicely and tasted great, Kung Pao Chicken, Mongolian Pork, and Orange Chicken with hot and sour soup I'm not very big on Chinese food in general, but this was one of the best Orange Chickens I've tasted! I've also never enjoyed Mongolian Pork, but this was the first time I really enjoyed it. Everyone in my family enjoyed the Kung Pao Chicken and the soup as well. A great Chinese restaurant in an area that desperately needs one. We went on an afternoon and the place was not crowded but there was a steady stream of delivery drivers coming in and out so they were definitely busier than they were appeared. Anyway, they were super nice and accommodating The food is good, fresh but I wouldn't say anything was mind-blowing about it either. It is honest food. A nice spot on a Thursday night in November for a quick Chinese dinner- and I mean quick! - (ordered and had my dish in less than 10 minutes piping hot and delicious). The sesame tofu is a simple dish but, the sauce here was outstanding. The heat level was not overpowering and blended perfectly with the sauce, the tofu was crispy without being oily and had the best consistency. First time stopping in and it won't be my last. It's just a simple spot in a little strip with other restaurants, unassuming, with the friendliest ladies working the front. I saw regulars here acknowledged by the staff and a couple from Evergreen on their first visit as well as a regular customer who brought friends in from Tennessee here to play a show this weekend and the interest the server took in hearing the story was so genuine and sweet. Honestly, the food was amazing and was only made better by the genuine kindness and appreciation the staff has for the customers. Placed an order for pick-up having never visited the restaurant in person before. Opening the door the restaurant felt like stepping into a warm, cozy family home. While the place does have some dated decor, it feels homey and welcomes you right in. I instantly wished we ate in instead of take out! The menu is expansive, including Chinese, Thai, and sushi dishes. We tried the egg rolls, pad thai, beef lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, and Szechuan chicken. For the price, we agreed that the food was excellent. The pad thai was a tad soupy, but overall tasted good. Stick to the traditional Chinese dishes and they will not disappoint. I enjoy Asian cuisine and was driving to another location on Youngfield for lunch when I found Lu House. I am known by my friends for having the ability to find a great hole in the restaurants. You know those hiding out in strip malls or odd places but have great-tasting food. I am giving Lu House this rating for three key reasons. 1. Food Flavor - I had the Mongolian Beef lunch special. The flavor of the beef was amazing, the beef was tender and it was a generous lunch-size portion. It came with steamed rice, an egg roll, and hot and sour soup which also delivered the flavor. I was impressed with the food and look forward to trying some of their other dishes. 2. Speed - You can actually go to Lu House for lunch and be in and out in a 1/2 hour. My soup came immediately after ordering, and my lunch plate was out before I could finish the soup. The staff was impressive and the kitchen was amazingly fast. I was also impressed because they know their customers, they knew that I was new and welcomed me and made sure I understood where the lunches were on the menu. 3. Price - I appreciate their effort to manage their prices. I thought they really delivered a great meal for the price. The restaurant is clean, all the tables were bussed and they give you linen napkins. All impressive in today's world. I have eaten at LU House for years the food a really good and consistent. The take out is always on point.

We stumbled across this place after we decided we wanted to check out a new Chinese spot (thanks fellow Yelpers!) and so glad we did. Ordering online was quick and easy although I wish their online system would save what we ordered prior so we could just reorder the same dishes or change up what we didn't like. What we swallowed: SWEET AND SOUR PORK: This is a favorite in our household from this place. The meat to veggies portions are generous and the breading on the pork is not overdone. The veggies are crisp and cooked just right. This is always the first dish to disappear so we always order two. SESAME CHICKEN: I thought the breading on this dish was a bit tough (compared to the S&S Pork) but it was still really good. SESAME SHRIMP: I really like this dish as the shrimp was cooked great and not too chewy. Their sesame sauce is delicious too.. not too sweet. CRISPY PAN FRIEND NOODLES: We were so happy when we saw this on the menu as not every Chinese place carries it. The first time we ordered it, the noodles seemed to be a bit underdone but the meat and veggies were so good that we decided to give it another go on the next round and so glad we did. It was perfect. Definitely another favorite dish of ours from here. BROCCOLI BEEF: Simple but delicious. A favorite with our 6 year old. HOT AND SOUR SOUP: My hubby loves the soup here. He happily will order a large with enough for leftovers. CRAB RANGOON: We love that they give a free appetizer with your (to-go) order. My family even loved these even though they don't like crab! FRIED DUMPLINGS: So here's the story: the first time we ordered, I ordered salt and pepper shrimp and was pretty bummed to find out when my hubby got home that they forgot to include it. Little did I know, they were calling us to come back to pick it up but we had not heard the phone until it was too late. They gave us a refund and were profusely sorry about messing up the order. Our next order (the sesame shrimp) I reminded them not to forgot my shrimp, she remembered me from the prior slip up and included these dumplings in for free. That's great customer service! Oh yeah, these dumplings were great too. Their food is cooked great. Their fried food is not overly breaded and their sauces aren't overly sweet. The veggies are always cooked crisp so you know they are fresh. What's great is their portions are definitely bigger than other local-take outs so there is usually left overs for the next day. My favorite Chicken Lo Mein is from a place that shut down during COVID in 2021. Since then I have been on the search for a replacement. I tried take-out from Lu House this past Sunday, and their Chicken Lo Mein was very disappointing. It had no flavor whatever, and had a sort of "skunky" smell to it. Our server had a great personality and an infectious laugh, she said everything on the menu was great, so we ordered a little bit of everything. -Hot and sour soup was the best I've had in a restaurant in years, rich flavor and perfect blend of vinegar/spice/savory. So I had rated this place just 3 stars but it was some 4 years ago. This time we were hungry for Chinese food so decided to give them another try. This time we found it much better. We ordered through Yelp and our two dishes were chicken chow mein and chicken fried rice. It included soup and egg rolls. The chow mein came with crunchy noodles. I am surprised there were no utensils or napkins but we had all that at home as we ordered take out. We enjoyed our dishes and I must say there was ample chicken in my dish. The soup was pretty good too! Inside the place was nice and the service was great. During the pandemic I have noticed that some places have come down in what they offer and others have improved. Bleech. Where to start? Had it delivered. We didn't get the large soup we ordered and overall there was very little flavor to anything. Plus, the meal didn't look, smell or taste fresh. The Vietnamese egg rolls were so overcooked it was like eating cardboard. The chicken in the sesame chicken was dry and stringy. It also tasted like the cooking oil was old. The chicken in the cashew chicken was tender, but was cut weirdly and had lots of strings. We could have dealt with that, but the dish was completely bland. C'mon Yelpers, let's keep the business coming to Lu House. This is a small, family-owned and operated business with very kind people working very hard to keep the business afloat in obviously trying times. There is no dine-in at this time, but take-out (online through Yelp or phone-in) and delivery. Online through Yelp works great, and here's an important tip - it will give you a 20 or 30 minute range for when the order will be ready, and most of the time it will be on the far end of that range rather than the near end. Go later than earlier so that you're not stewing about your order not being ready. Lu House is doing a great job with take-out. Our orders are always correct and very carefully packaged. The food is excellent, the portions are generous and the prices are right. You can order lunch specials as expected, and here's another tip - there are also dinner specials. Go to "Chef's Specials" on the ordering app and you have 22 options. They come with your choice of rice and soup, and range in price from $10.95-$15.00. Here's another tip - unless you're a habitual overeater, each entrée will give you at least a really nice dinner and some delicious leftovers for lunch the next day. And here's your final tip - try the Sizzling Scallops and Beef - $13.35 and amazing - large, succulent scallops and tender, deliciously-seasoned strips of beef. I'm sure the other 21 Chef's Specials are equally good, but I really don't see myself getting away from the Sizzling Scallops and Beef. Great people, great food - Lu House is doing its part.
