Purchased a good voucher deal for a one hour full body massage and dermalogica facial (2 hours in total) -location is very handy on top of O'connell street. Walking up the stairs it surely looked a bit dingy and I thought to myself I will either end up in some drug parlour or a brothel...but no, once I reached the top of the stairs the beauty salon was there - nothing uber fancy, but nicely decorated and warm.
I'm in two minds about this place really. The dermalogica facial was really good and relaxing, my therapist knew her stuff and did a skin analysis. I just love dermalogica products and I can say my face looks brighter and clearer now.
The massage left me less than impressed. I chose a deep tissue massage. I have gotten them before and usually they use long, slow strokes. This was nothing like it, she moved her hands so fast and fluttery it felt like there were a couple of mice tap dancing on my back. Not good. Also she kept asking me every three minutes if the pressure is okay, this was totally distracting. I was just drifting off...and again I had to confirm yes the pressure is okay.
I went in with my back feeling fairly okay, apart from a bit of tension in my upper back. In the evening my right lower back started aching. And it's two days later now, and I still feel the pain in my lower back- which I DID NOT have before coming in. Surely this can not be a good sign? I'm contemplating to give them a ring and complain if I still ache tomorrow. To be honest I really wonder if my therapist has a massage qualifcation at all after the whole experience. read more
