Very uneducated and unprofessional approach to something that should just be standard practice in today's terms. Isolation is 5 days or until you have a negative test. Not 21 days. It's sad that I have to write such a negative review on what was actually a good experience. But the lack of knowledge on basic things would make me question the overall sanitary side of things. And why for me, I'll have to look elsewhere.

I had heard lots of great reviews about this place from a colleague who is also an existing client so I called them to arrange a free consultation for laser hair removal. As I had a course of IPL treatments in the past with another salon that I wish I never attended - I still had full hair regrowth on my legs after 6 sessionswhich cost me a lot of money and time so as you can imagineI was cautious of the same happening again. At my consultation everything about the treatment was explained in full and all of my concerns where answered regarding the type of lasers they use (medical grade which are the best) and the results I could expect from having a full course of treatments. I then had a patch test with the nurse which was part of the consultation and free of charge What I also really liked about the staff at this clinic is that they are not pushy sales people at all they're all so friendly and helpful and seem to really care about their clients. So I booked in the following week had the option of paying per single treatment or for a course. I opted for the course because you then get 50% off which worked out an amazing price. I'm finished my course of treatments now and it is the best thing I have ever done. Shaving my legs wouldn't ever enter my head now because there's actually no hair to shave...happy days! When I went in the treatment in full took 30mins, they were very quick with the treatment. I didn't really feel the crystals and it wasn't uncomfortable (weird i know). And then after, there was no down time, no redness and no flaking at all. Hmm, I wouldn't normally complain, but it just was an expensive treatment, and they seemed to fob me off saying every ones skin reacts differently.

I've been getting my eyebrows threaded at a few different places around the city for the last couple of years, this was by far the best. Almost every other place I've gone to has taken way too much off, despite me telling them I wanted a fuller look to frame my face. The therapist took great detail in explaining the differences in each brow and told me as I'm so fair it could take 2 years for me to achieve the look I want without having to use pencil and powder to fill. Not sure if this was an upsell technique but I appreciated the honesty! She was very careful to remove the bare minimum whilst trying to make them even. Although it's more expensive than a lot of other places I was absolutely delighted with the results, I felt like she really listed to what I wanted and my face looked so different afterwards, being properly framed. I made my follow up appointment on the spot and was given a loyalty card- not sure what exactly this entitles me to. I met a friend for lunch afterwards and even though I was wearing less make up than usual she commented on how well I looked which I definitely think was down to the eyebrows!

So I went up the stairs and walked into their reception area. I was early and the girl on reception was very friendly and she offered me tea or coffee. They sell dermalogica products and they had an area where you can try samples which I never saw before anywhere. My appointment was at 4. I was seen at 4 on the dot. Jessica introduced herself and we went into the treatment room. She spoke to me about how I wanted them, I didn't want to much of a dramatic change but at the same time I wanted them to look noticeable. She started my mink eyelashes, she put collagen patches under my eyes which was a lovely surprise. Its amazing on how hard it is to keep eyes closed with a bright light over your face ha! My eyes just wanted to open all the time. Anyways I finally relaxed and felt comfortable. My treatment was an hour. I sat up and she handed me a mirror to look at them. I fell in love with them. They were perfect. I was over the moon with them. I left it a few days to do my review because I wasn't sure on how they were going to be. I am still happy with them. I could be addicted to them now. She recommended getting them done every 3/4 weeks. I washed my hair that night after getting them done, a few fell out but I was told not to get them wet for 24 hrs so that was my fault as they got a but wet so in future I will wash my hair before I get them done. I will go back in 3 weeks to get them refilled. Jessie is lovely to deal with and Nu Essence could possibly have a new customer for life now. :)

Margaret and Fiona in particular have given me invaluable advice over the years when I've had problems with my skin. Nu Essence offers a great range of services and the salon itself, though tucked away in a lane off Grafton Street and so easy to miss at first, is large but still cosy. The prices of some services, and in fact their Dermalogica skincare products, can be higher than in other city centre salons, but Nu Essence offers so many deals that it's easy to bring the cost of treatments down. For instance, because I get two wax treatments done at the same time, I get the second one half-price. This makes it cheaper than almost anywhere else. They also have a loyalty card system and a fantastic Last Minute Text service, where if they have a cancellation they will text customers who have signed up and the first few customers who make an appointment will receive 30-35% off ANY treatment. I won't go anywhere else for my 'routine maintenance'.

On my next visit I was told there was a 25 min wait, which was fine. I came back at the agreed time and was left waiting another 15 min. Time I did not have, but I need my eyebrows done, so I persisted with the wait. The brow shape was fine, but my skin was left so red and tender. I treated it with aloe vera when I got home to bring the redness down. Also after three days spots that had appeared on one brow remained. Ugh. I wont be back. After being to Urban Wax and Brazilia, regardless of how more expensive they are, I can now appreciate that you get what you pay for when it comes to waxing in this city.
