We have been coming to Heaven on a Fork for quite some time and have always had good experiences, so we were very happy to see them move to a bigger and nicer location. The food is still good, but this time the quality did not seem as good as it used to be. I don't know if something changed in the kitchen or if it was simply an off night, but several of us noticed the difference. The service itself was still very good. What really made us uncomfortable happened when it was time to pay. Our original waiter had been replaced during the meal by a female waitress, even though he was still working other tables. When she brought the credit card machine, she asked whether we were paying cash or card. We said card, and she told us she would remove the tip from the credit card transaction and asked us to tip her in cash instead. She then told us that if customers leave tips on credit cards, the owners do not give the tips to the employees and keep the money themselves. She said this has been happening to her and her coworkers. That was extremely uncomfortable. I ended up finding a $20 bill and gave it to her as a cash tip. The problem is that we have no way of knowing what the truth is. If what she told us is true, then this is a very serious and potentially illegal issue that California labor authorities should investigate. Employees should not have their tips withheld, especially if they feel they have to tolerate it because they need their jobs. On the other hand, if what she told us was not true and it was simply a way to get a cash tip, that is also a serious problem. Customers should never be put in a position like this. One of my friends wanted to report the situation, but I convinced him not to because we simply do not know which explanation is true. Unfortunately, either way, the experience made all of us uncomfortable enough that we do not plan to return. It is honestly a shame because we have always liked this restaurant, the service has generally been great, and the food is still good, although not quite at the same level we remember. I hope the owners look into both the tipping issue and whatever may have changed in the kitchen, because this was a restaurant we were genuinely happy to support. read more

We dined here on Tuesday 7/7/26 and to find they recently moved locations around the corner however the Yelp had not updated the address. Lucky that it was in the same complex and within walking distance. They literally were taking down the signs above. Food was exceed my expectations. We ordered Mediterranean Fries. It came with pickled onions which added a surprising taste. Next, the Avocado Salad was delicious! Crisp lettuce and amazing dressing tastes of cardamom made the dish stand out. The Koobideh Combo with beef and chicken and basmati rice was excellent! Service needed improvement. Our waiter looked less enthusiastic about serving, could have been a summer job. Didn't check on our table much aside from delivering our dishes. Ambiance was nice and on the higher end side. Very lux and a place where business people could do business over lunch. I've been coming here regularly since they had the older place. The new place is gorgeous. Every single time I've visited, the experience has been consistently excellent. The service is exceptional. The hosts, waitstaff, and owner are genuinely warm, welcoming, and attentive. Even when we've shown up close to closing or without much notice, they've gone out of their way to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. I went to dinner here with my family around 5:30 p.m. We were seated fairly quickly, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. It took quite a while for our server to come over and see if we were ready to order. When we asked for the tahdig appetizer, he had to check if it was available and came back to tell us they were out. Throughout the ordering process, he seemed very distracted and kept looking around the restaurant while taking our order. I'm honestly surprised he got everything correct. Most of the servers were standing together at the front of the restaurant instead of checking on their tables, which wasn't a great look. No one came back to see how our meal was or if we needed anything. When we finished eating, an older gentleman--who I assumed was the owner--cleared our plates, something that should have been handled by the servers or bussers. Later, we had to flag down our server just to ask for a dessert menu. We also asked if we could order the ice cream by itself in a bowl instead of as an ice cream sandwich. Once again, he had to go check, only to come back and tell us it wasn't possible. Throughout the meal, no one refilled our water glasses, and an empty water pitcher was simply left sitting on our table. Overall, the service was poor. The young staff seemed disengaged and uninterested in providing good customer service, and the hostess spent much of the time on her phone at the front of the restaurant. The restaurant itself was clean, but the portions were small for the price, making the meal feel overpriced. Unfortunately, because of the overall experience, we won't be returning. read more

We used to come here when the owner was cooking in the kitchen and welcomed all guests in person. It was my number one go to spot for ordering food for gatherings at the house with family on Sunday's. Unfortunately their quality has gone down dramatically like most of the other New Persian Resturant's. We arrived at 9:35 p.m. after calling ahead of time and being told last call was at 9:45 p.m., yet we were refused service despite the restaurant not closing until 10:00 p.m. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND NOT OKAY. If you're going to stop seating customers earlier than your published last call or closing time, update your policies so people don't waste their time driving 30 MINUTES over. We have been coming to this location for couple of years, and over time this once favored place has been declining in service and food quality. Honestly the service from the start was always lacking but the food was good. Recently we went off peak and the restaurant had full staff, in fact we thought a few too many. The servers are very nice and kind, but they don't check on your table once the food arrives. The food was oily. Our eggplant appetizer was way too hot, we had to wait for about 5 min (seems forever when you're hungry) once it arrived at our table before we could eat. Went last night to check out their new location. Ambiance was just ok felt closed in because of what they did with their ceiling. Service was ok, it took a long time to get our drinks.I had to ask for them and also for water. The food when it finally arrived it was not as good as when they first opened at the smaller location. The chicken kebab did not have much flavor. When it was time to pay our bill our waitress asked us if we can please leave the tip in cash. We have never had this happen before at any restaurant. We thought that was pretty forward and rude. It put us in an awkward situation . Bottom line if you are Iranian you get much better service and your food comes out much faster. Tahchin 6.18/10- layered saffron rice seasoned with yogurt and egg yolk oven baked with soft boiled chicken. This was my first time trying this dish but I wasn't really a fan. It had a very strong flavor of mostly egg and chicken even though it's supposed to be saffron rice. The rice on top was a bit too eggy for my taste. The chicken was incredibly tender but there wasn't much flavor to it. If anything, the sauce that came with it added lots of flavor and made it more enjoyable. Beef Soltani 8.31/10- the beef barg and koobideh were alright but not amazing. It was not as tender or juicy as my normal spot for Persian food, which was disappointing. I loved how they gave onions and cilantro with the dish though as it added a lot of fresh flavor and helped brighten everything up. The meat was a little dry overall. Heaven Stew 12/10- this was absolutely incredible! Made with slow cooked seasoned lamb neck and vegetables, and served with flatbread. I absolutely loved the flavors of this stew - it was rich, complex, and so satisfying. I kept putting it on my rice because it added so much amazing flavor to everything. The lamb itself was so tender and fell perfectly off the bone. The flatbread was also the perfect consistency and delicious for soaking up all that sauce and lamb. I would honestly come back just for this dish - it was that good! Baghali Polo 8.56/10- I loved the lima beans in this rice dish, but I felt that their dill wasn't that fresh and the rice could definitely use more butter. It was very good though, especially when I put the heaven stew on top of it. The lima beans added great texture and flavor. Adas Polo 8.32/10- made with lentils, dates, and raisins. I liked how sweet this rice was from the dates and raisins, but I think it was a bit dry on its own. It was really good with the heaven stew on top though - the stew's sauce really helped bring it all together. Dogh 9.23/10- this yogurt drink was so good! I loved how they put a lot of fresh mint in it. It was refreshing and tangy, and the perfect drink to have with all the rich Persian flavors. The mint made it so cooling and it paired beautifully with everything we ordered. This Persian restaurant had some really standout dishes like that incredible heaven stew, but overall it was hit or miss compared to my usual Persian spot.
