In a nondescript strip mall in Laguna Hills they are serving up authentic Persian food that is worth a trip. After being greeted by Isla at the hostess stand and being served by Faraz who walked us through the menu and made fabulous recommendations. I was not expecting to walk into such a beautiful restaurant. It was cozy yet vibrant and hip! Really perfect for a date night or girls night out. The heaven stew was incredible. Wow! My husband loved it so much. The lamb was tender and falling off the bone. The stew was rich with hints of tomato and lingering spices. We really enjoyed this one and it is definitely the star of the restaurant based on taste and presentation! I always order chicken koobideh when I visit Mediterranean restaurants. We arrived at Heaven on a Fork around 6:20 pm on a Saturday during a holiday weekend and waited about 45 minutes for a table of six. The restaurant is walk-in only and fairly small, so I'd definitely expect a wait during busier times. The parking lot was pretty full as well. Our food took around 25 minutes to come out, which was longer than expected, but understandable considering how busy they were. We started with the Flatbread and Zattar Bread with hummus, and both were light and enjoyable. I especially liked the hummus. The Beef Koobideh was easily the highlight of the meal. It was incredibly flavorful with a great texture and honestly one of the best beef kabobs I've had. The Chicken Koobideh was also really good, and I think the Koobideh Combo is a great option if you want to try both. The Tahchin was solid, especially the crispy rice, while the Kase Kabob Bowl was good, it was not as memorable for me. The Fesenjoon was our first time trying the dish, and we weren't expecting the stew to be quite so sweet. I can see the appeal if you enjoy that flavor profile, but we would probably skip it next time. The Doogh also wasn't really for me. Overall, the Beef Koobideh alone is worth coming back for. So, expect a wait during dinner. I got the combo plate, and I have to say, I was impressed. The rice was perfectly seasoned and super flavorful and buttery. It was on the wetter side compared to typical rice, but that's my preference. The chicken and beef were amazing! I actually enjoyed the chicken more because it was moist and perfectly seasoned. What a gem of a find. We had heard that Heaven On A Fork was an amazing restaurant with Persian dishes that were scrumptious, well spiced and prepared with much culinary perfection. The line of people was out of the door and growing by the minute. We were blessed as when I checked in with the lovely hostess I asked if we could sit and dine at the two vacant bar spots and she said yes and seated us immediately. Great service. Eshan was our server and what a wonderful and professional individual with a gift for service. Mika was also helping us and I must say the customer service with all of the staff was stellar. We started with drinks as my wife had doghs, a yogurt drink, and I had an iced tea. For our entrees my wife had the koobideh combo and I had the chicken kabob plate. We dined here on Tuesday 7/7/26 and to find they recently moved locations around the corner however the Yelp had not updated the address. Lucky that it was in the same complex and within walking distance. They literally were taking down the signs above. Food was exceed my expectations. We ordered Mediterranean Fries. It came with pickled onions which added a surprising taste. Next, the Avocado Salad was delicious! Crisp lettuce and amazing dressing tastes of cardamom made the dish stand out. The Koobideh Combo with beef and chicken and basmati rice was excellent! Service needed improvement. Our waiter looked less enthusiastic about serving, could have been a summer job. Didn't check on our table much aside from delivering our dishes. Ambiance was nice and on the higher end side. Very lux and a place where business people could do business over lunch. I got the.Barg with rice delicious are appetizers were delicious. A huge shout out to Dawn he was absolutely amazing. His customer service was superb. Excellent. He right away knew that we waited forever to get seated and helped us immediately brought drinks water. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere feels instantly upscale--the plush velvet seating is so comfortable and sets a gorgeous, elegant mood for the dining room. However, the interior design team made one bizarre misstep: right near the dining area, they put up a miniature mock version of a bathroom (complete with a tiny toilet model) as a sign pointing toward the restrooms. So odd, no one wants to look at a toilet while they're enjoying a nice meal. It completely clashes with the otherwise sleek vibe. Thankfully, the kitchen more than makes up for the decor quirk: Must order are Combo koobideh and Heaven Stew, both tasted delicious. I love HOAF, especially the famous lamb dish that comes out hidden in bread! Hands down, HOAF is one of my favorite places. It can get super busy on the weekends, and the location gives "hole in the wall vibes" because it's not super spacious, but that is the charm of it. I love it! Service is good, it can be pricy, but you get what you pay for. Everything from decor to quality of food, presentation of food, to service is top notch. The only thing i can say is watch out for parking, It can be a bit tight and tricky. So, when you want to exit, make sure you don't hit anyone or anyone doesn't hit you! We have been coming to Heaven on a Fork for quite some time and have always had good experiences, so we were very happy to see them move to a bigger and nicer location. The food is still good, but this time the quality did not seem as good as it used to be. I don't know if something changed in the kitchen or if it was simply an off night, but several of us noticed the difference. The service itself was still very good. What really made us uncomfortable happened when it was time to pay. Our original waiter had been replaced during the meal by a female waitress, even though he was still working other tables. When she brought the credit card machine, she asked whether we were paying cash or card. We said card, and she told us she would remove the tip from the credit card transaction and asked us to tip her in cash instead. She then told us that if customers leave tips on credit cards, the owners do not give the tips to the employees and keep the money themselves. She said this has been happening to her and her coworkers. That was extremely uncomfortable. I ended up finding a $20 bill and gave it to her as a cash tip. The problem is that we have no way of knowing what the truth is. If what she told us is true, then this is a very serious and potentially illegal issue that California labor authorities should investigate. Employees should not have their tips withheld, especially if they feel they have to tolerate it because they need their jobs. On the other hand, if what she told us was not true and it was simply a way to get a cash tip, that is also a serious problem. Customers should never be put in a position like this. One of my friends wanted to report the situation, but I convinced him not to because we simply do not know which explanation is true. Unfortunately, either way, the experience made all of us uncomfortable enough that we do not plan to return. It is honestly a shame because we have always liked this restaurant, the service has generally been great, and the food is still good, although not quite at the same level we remember. I hope the owners look into both the tipping issue and whatever may have changed in the kitchen, because this was a restaurant we were genuinely happy to support. read more

I've tried many different foods here, and I want to be fair, the atmosphere was nice, but I had very high expectations for this restaurant. As a restaurant owner, I believe you need to stand behind the food you serve and maintain a high standard of quality. Unfortunately, the quality of the Nazik Kebab was very disappointing. The eggplant tasted like it came from a can, and the meat in the heaven stew was not well seasoned and had an unpleasant aftertaste.
