Went to Hafez Cafe on Saturday, July 17th, with friends for Kalle Pache, but they ended up ordering Halim, Panir Sabzi, and Asal Sarshir instead, while my wife and I stuck with our Kalle Pache. Everything was amazing as always. The newly remodeled space looked beautiful too, fresh and welcoming. But what truly made this visit unforgettable was: Sina. We had our 5-month-old with us, and without even asking, he offered to watch him so we could actually sit and enjoy our meal together. He was so warm and gentle with our son that we felt completely at ease, and for once we got to eat our breakfast while it was still hot. Sina, if you're reading this -- thank you. That small act of kindness turned an ordinary breakfast into a memory we'll carry with us. read more

A few years ago, I left a very negative review based on an unfortunate experience with the previous owner. Updating my review from last year: I tried a new dish, Fesenjon (Persian chicken stew with ground toasted walnuts and pomegranate molasses), and it was delicious. Of course I couldn't finish all of it, so I took it home and had it again the following day. Anita was so gracious, helping me decide what to order, and her recommendation was spot on. I will go back the next time I'm in the area -- impossible dream, but it would be wonderful if they opened a restaurant in the Palm Springs area, closer to where I live. read more

This is my second visit within two weeks. My first time was at lunch and this time I decided to come for dinner. I believe it's the same menu. I had the combo koobideh which is the beef and chicken. I also did not know you could either get rice only or half rice half salad which I chose. I think the server's name was Sheila. She was absolutely adorable and super helpful and friendly. I'm not fully familiar with Persian cuisine so I did ask a lot of questions and she was very kind to explain everything to me. I think the owner also came by to say hello. I absolutely love their hot tea. I took the bread home with me which I nibbled in the car and it was delicious. I can't wait to have my leftovers. I think it's a great value for the portion. I did see some other dishes, past my table and I'm going to try those as well. Tonight's meal was juicy and flavorful. The rice is always light and fluffy. The salad was incredible and fresh. And then I finished it off with a small piece of baklava, which is also delicious. I can't wait to come back. Very comfortable dining room room. Plenty of parking out front. read more

They serve really really great Koobideh, and their chicken Koobideh specifically is amazing. It's moist, flavorful, and bright with spices. Their chef, Hossein, really brings that homemade element to his food and I loved that about their dishes. Their service is also very warm and efficient, special thanks to Anita, our server. We came all the way from LA, and I'm honestly still thinking about this meal. The food was so insanely good that we started eating immediately and completely forgot to take pictures! Everything tasted fresh, fragrant, and genuinely made with love. The lubia polo was incredibly flavorful, the barg was so tender, and the eggplant dish was delicious. Every single thing we ordered was a 10/10. They also brought us a full teapot of complimentary hot tea as soon as we sat down, which made the whole experience feel so warm and welcoming. Anita took care of us and she was truly the sweetest. She checked on us throughout the meal, gave us amazing service, and made the atmosphere even better. At the end, she surprised us with little Persian fortunes, which was such a thoughtful and memorable touch. Asked my server and she told me it's under new management, before the koobideh was dry and now it's so good I'm still thinking about it a day later. We went to Hafez for dine in and the restaurant was packed. With that came slow service and a substantial wait time to get our food. We were with a group and ordered a variety of breakfast and lunch plates. Everyone was very happy with their dishes. We had Halim, eggs/cream/honey, koobideh kabob, Cornish hen, kaleh pacheh, and adasi. I had the Halim (which is my fave) and my husband had the Cornish hen that I tried as well. The hen was fantastic and one of the best I've had in a long time. The fresh baked bread is definitely the star of the show and the black tea served with the meal is a very nice touch. The negative: I don't love the atmosphere and wish all the food were served in ceramic dish-ware. The kabobs are still served in melamine/plastic plates, which is highly toxic when exposed to heat and leach into the food. I'm taking a star out for this. read more

I recently returned to Hafez after not visiting for several months, and I had one of the best Persian meals I've had in a long time. Whether it's because of new ingredients, new techniques, or simply greater attention to detail, everything seemed to have improved. The rice was exceptional--light, flavorful, and even better than I remembered. The chicken koobideh was noticeably more tender and juicy, and the bread was outstanding. It seems to be made much thinner in the middle, giving it a unique texture that's absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself has also been beautifully remodeled. It feels warm, traditional, and elegant without being overdone. I especially appreciated the quality touches: polished, quality silverware, fabric napkins, and the glass tabletops with tablecloths underneath. (Liked the music in the background too.)Even the presentation of the tea has been elevated. The tea has always been excellent, but now it's served in a way that feels inviting and classic. The overall atmosphere is a world apart from the previous ownership, when the dining room felt more like a cafeteria than a destination restaurant. What impressed me most is that, despite all of these upgrades, the portions actually seem larger while the prices have remained the same. That's a rare combination these days and a pleasant surprise. I am giving 2 stars for the previous time when 2 dishes were good and one was bad. For today, I give it less than one star. Called in for an order. It was accepted. When we got there, they said sorry, out if the rice (baghali polo). The lamb was terrible. They touted their special - koofte tabrizi. I ordered some. When it arrived, the koofteh had been pressed flat. I was as pissed as the koofteh had been flattened down! And so, so salty. Thus is not a cheap place, but it certainly will be tbe last place we'd revisit. read more

They did not disappoint. The family deal was the best and it could be served in House. They started out with some flatbread and butter, which was awesome.
