I might be being a little harsh but I do love cupcakes and enjoy baking them so I can be a bit of a stickler about them. I decided to try this place out so I got 6 different cupcakes to try and share. The presentation of the cupcakes where basic but if the taste is great who cares. I literally took one bite of each cupcake and the first thing I tasted was the refrigerator! I tend to like moist, light, and fluffy cake and these where not that at all. I also was not a fan of the cream cheese icing. Needless to say, I didn't take another bite and threw them away. Based on the ratings many people seem to enjoy them so do go and try for yourself. read more

With so many other great bakeries around, I will never give this place my business again. I love surprising people with cakes, birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations etc. So I spend a lot of money on cakes. My favorite bakery moved so I decided to give this one a chance. It was an easy eatable image for an anniversary but when I went to pick it up, it was a small image of the picture in the middle of a cake for 50. Not at all what I wanted. The whole cake should have been the eatable image. But it was too late so I go to pay for it which was a great amount of money. I showed the staff member my yelp 10% off first order discount and she said no. That it was only good for a birthday cake even though it did not specify that on the yelp page. She said because they put so much time and effort in the custom cake the 10% can't apply. As if they don't put any effort into bday cakes and isn't an anniversary a birthday anyway?? Business is business whether it's a birthday or anniversary. A cake is a cake and when you offer 10% off of a first order, your business should honor this no matter what. I will tell everyone I know that asks me where to go for cakes...absolutely DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS HERE. They are not a fair business. Horrible customer service. The cake tasted meh anyway. The baked goods here are amazing. There is a large selection of desserts with different flavor combinations. Cakes like works of art, you'll be tempted to hang one on the wall. One of my new favorites is the the "cherry oatmeal cookies". I felt like a crackhead when I was looking for crumbs in the bottom of the bag. I WILL be back for more...Good stuff read more

Two stars due to the poor service. Visiting NYC for my sister's birthday and called 4 days prior to order the cake. According to their website, a 6" birthday cake is $25...however I was charged $45 plus a paypal processing fee. Not cool. On top of that...when I called to confirm I was getting a chocolate on chocolate cake (the invoice I received said vanilla), the woman (with a sassy attitude) said there would be an additional charge for chocolate. Who the F charges additional for chocolate? How are you still in business treating customers this way? Surprisingly the cake was pretty good...rich and oily. Still, i wouldn't recommend. read more

Was so excited to read about a great bakery in the neighborhood. Tonight I was feeling like I wanted to treat myself because hey it's the weekend....I walked about 4 blocks to the store and their were customers inside, it was 6:25 the woman rudely told me they were closed....I began walking away and thought ya know what they should know their hours may be incorrect on Yelp and Google - I went back and let the woman know and she staged blankly and rudely at me and did not respond. I called the day before my son's 25th birthday and was greeted with absolute courtesy and genuine willingness to help me pull this together in 1 day. Had to wait a short time when I arrived to pick the cake up and was offered a complimentary cookie in a very inviting atmosphere. Price was incredibly fair and the cake was everything that I had hoped for and beyond what was promised. Beautiful, simple design, as I'd requested. Ultra-moist cake and perfectly sweet buttercream....couldn't ask for a more perfect cake for the celebration. A young lady who was working in the shop actually walked around the corner with me to my destination because I had a lot of other packages to carry. Amazing service and very much appreciated. OMG!!!!!! This bakery is fabulous! Born in Dallas, Texas, home of a slice a cake or pie after every meal, I love a delicious desert. Heavenly crumbs stands with the best of them from my grand-mamma's kitchen, Betty's Bakery, The Little Pie Company, The Chocolate Room you name it. I currently live in Queens and travel the distance to get to this bakery. I'm never disappointed. The goods are always readily available and there is always are warm cozy feeling when you enter. There's always great music playing and the staff is always attentive and professional. I can't say enough about the delicious treats from the cupcakes to the lemon pound cake....Lawd have mercy!!! I'm a little disappointed. I used to come here for friends birthday cupcakes, but I went recently and the size changed dramatically. They're pretty tiny now and $3 a pop. Also I got 2 and they put it in a small plastic container making the icing crush into each other, totally ruining the prettiness. read more

The cupcakes have a really wonderful texture-they're not to cakey. I loved the German chocolate cupcake.

I just popped in for a cupcake cause I had a little extra time on my hands. Oh MAN! The vanilla vanilla cupcake was one of the best I've ever had. Moist but not moist in that cake mix oily way but like perfectly dense and moist all at once with a lovely vanilla buttercream. This is the most unfriendly bakery I have ever been in ! The first time the owner would not let me tie my dog up outside on her bench while I came in to buy a cake and cupcakes. She said she was allergic to dogs!! It didn't matter that my dog is hypoallergenic or OUTSIDE her establishment. The cupcakes are overpriced , dry and flavorless. Don't go here. Several of these amazing cupcakes were gifted to me for my birthday, I'm not the biggest cupcake connoisseur so I didn't eat them right away. When I finally did, WOW! The only bad experience I've had at Heavenly Crumbs is when I walk over and it's closed. Their cupcakes are moist, full of flavor complete with an equally delicious pile of frosting. If I had to pick a favorite flavor, I wouldn't be able to! They're all wonderful and I mainly end up picking based on my mood. Their red velvet cupcake stands out with a hint on cocoa in the cake and sweet & tangy cream cheese frosting. You will not be disappointed! read more

They actually use cream cheese frosting (the way it's supposed to be made) on their red velvet cupcake!!!! I'll have to keep going here and trying different flavors. I can only review their red velvet and it was good, the cupcake it's self was a little dry but it's probably because they keep them chilled. read more

After an unpleasant experience at Clemintine Bakery up the street, the baker here helped make up for their mess by adding a birthday decoration to one of the cupcakes I purchased from them. We organized the school birthday-buddy system on Tuesday. I, of course, get the name of someone whose birthday is Wednesday...and of course Red Velvet Cupcakes are all that will make her day perfect. In a panic I call Heavenly Crumbs. The woman (I'm pretty positive she's the owner) answers the phone in what is probably the most polite manner I've heard yet in NYC and reassures me, "we definitely have red velvet cupcakes available! I'm actually about to take another batch out of the oven!" (Just goes to show how fresh their cupcakes are!) She doesn't even flinch when I ask for 15...to be picked up that evening. I show up, she ices and puts 15 perfect cupcakes in 2 boxes for me, hands me a not-quite perfect cupcake for free (just baked a little weird, making it look smashed in one part), tapes the boxes together so it's easier to carry, makes sure I don't have far to walk, I sign the credit card slip, and I'm on my way. The next day, everyone who has a cupcake all say the same thing, "Oh my gosh these are amazing-Where did you get them??" To which I happily replied, "Heavenly Crumbs", and then gave them exact directions. read more

I needed a birthday cake for my son's second birthday, and my first baker was completely unprofessional! With a week's notice, which I didn't think was enough time, Shannon came to my rescue and did an AMAZING job. Everyone loved my son's cake. My husband also chose this bakery to get my birthday cake. I'm not a fan of heavy globs of icing on my cupcakes but Heavenly Crumbs does it right with icing that is so light, creamy and delicious and they top their cupcakes with just the right amount. I live above Heavenly Crumbs so that could be a good thing and a bad thing.. The only reason it is a bad thing is because every time I go home I want to go in and buy every cupcake, cookie and french Toast Scone in the place!. The smells emanating from Heavenly Crumbs is ...well heavenly and even if I practice will power and don't go in for a treat it brings a smile to my face as I'm walking up flights of stairs after a long hard day. On the days I do stop in for a treat (again my favorites are the French Toast Scones and the Biscuits) I am satiated at every turn.Shannon and Co. are top notch and great neighbors. Stumbled into this place craving a warm drink on a cold day, and what a find! This bakery is amazing, and I'm generally not a cake person. Best gingersnap cookie I've ever had...it was chewy and spicy and delicious. For cupcakes, they had some tempting frosting flavors like passion fruit and triple berry, but I went for the classics. I brought home a red velvet cupcake and a german chocolate cupcake to share, and my friend and I agree they were simply perfection. Even one day later, the cake was extremely moist and wonderful. The baker told us to make sure we gave them a short time to warm back up from room temperature from the refrigerator, but we couldn't wait. Still a little cold, but fantastic. The cream cheese frosting on the red velvet was pure tangy cream cheese flavor. The German chocolate frosting was full of coconut but not cloyingly sweet, and the chocolate cake was extremely dark and rich. And you should see the photos of the cakes they make! These people are magicians with fondant. They make gorgeous, intricate designs for weddings or any other special occasion. To have something that looks that beautiful and is also the most delicious cake you've ever had? Doesn't get better. Welcome to my new favorite bakery. It's a must. read more

Forget the naysayers. This place is fantastic, and for more than the cupcakes. Cookies, scones, and cheesecake are all delicious, and the starring cupcakes are fantastic too. I have to wonder at the people who are so baffled by cold frosting being, well, cold. The cupcakes are delicious, and I for one prefer the cream cheese frosting to some overpowering buttercream. My Birthday cake was HEAVENLY!!! Everyone had seconds, and there was none left at the end of the party! My best friend ordered chocolate-chocolate filling cake for my birthday, and the cake was moist, rich, balanced...YUMMM...the most delicious cake I have ever had! Three days later, I am driving in from Manhattan to Franklin Ave just to pick up the cake I ordered for someone, knowing that my birthday present to them will be appreciated! Not only did she work with me with such short notice, she even DELIVERED the cake!!! Can I say that this cake was to die for? It was the best chocolate cake I think Ive even tasted. I hate giving 5 stars to anything so don't let that discourage you! The only reason I am giving 5 stars is because I want a slice of a TRIPLE-BERRY FROSTING CAKE and not just a cupcake!! My surprise birthday party included a cake with Triple Berry Frosting outside as well as INSIDE the cake and I was in heaven!! Until they started cutting up the cake to share with my friends!! :( As for the cake and cupcakes, yes they are a little dense but I like feeling like I'm eating a thick piece of cake and not a bunch of air. They are slightly, ever-so rich and the frosting is like whipped air!! I haven't tried all the cupcakes, but this triple berry is good enough for the store to exist alone and their lemon slice cake is really good too. The Best Chocolate Cake you would EVER Have... when combined with my favorite Ganache filling it is so damm Scrumptious...One Bite Into It says Definitely Top Quality Ingredients used.....I have been ordering from Heavenly Crumbs for the past 3 1/2 years and do consider myself a faithful customer... Last year I ordered a custom Red Velvet cake for my 30th birthday. I can honestly say it was the best cake that I have ever eaten.
