This is my sons go to donut shop. We stopped in together and shared a maple glaze donut. YUMMM! It's so rich and delicious, smelled like a pancake. The donut was nice and airy, not dense and doughy. Probably my favorite donut I have had in the city. I'm a simple girl when it comes to donuts. Dont need a specialty this or that. Just need a nice pillowy disc of bread covered in sugar. Fat Doughnut was sooo good!! Picture this. I woke up at 1:30am to get on a plane home to NY at 5am. I dragged myself out of JFK to the airtrain then waited on the morning J for 15 minutes. My blood sugar was dropping, and I had a dire need for something sweet. I planned to stop at a cafe near the Kosciuszko stop, but when I went to open their door it was closed!! As I searched for other coffee spots, I realized how close Fat Doughnut is. With my bags and intense sunburn, I voyaged over and am so glad I did. It's a small shop, and I wish they had labels so I could see which donut is which, but there are still a few tables and spots to sit down inside. I ordered an iced coffee, a maple glazed donut, and a cinnamon roll (I'm not me when my blood sugar is low). The iced coffee was really great, and I didn't have to pay extra for syrup in it. I was shocked and amazed. I paid around $11 for everything, and sometimes you can't get an iced coffee for under $6 in Brooklyn. The maple glazed was so delicious. You can definitely taste a bit of the oil, but I didn't mind at all because for me it seemed so fresh. Really one of the best textures I've had. I went home before having the cinnamon roll as my blood sugar issue was solved. A few hours later, I toasted the cinnamon roll and it was really yummy! Delicious, delicious, delicious! I ordered to-go and got the Breakfast plate and a bacon maple doughnut. Um yes. Incredibly satisfying! Never quite tasted a doughnut like that. The bacon was real and there was plenty of it. Very generous portion. I loved the pancakes. They were exactly what I've been dreaming of. This place is a gem in the neighborhood. I used to LOVE the breakfast sandwich they used to make and would order every weekend, but they changed it to some brioche bun and I don't love it the same. The donuts are big, soft and sweet, and taste absolutely delicious! I will say, though that the price of their normal food is a little crazy - like $21 for a breakfast platter, that is mediocre at best... not for me. I'll stick to the doughnuts. I came by last weekend after running errands and there was a line but it went quickly. They were already out of a few donuts at 11:00am but still had a good selection. I ordered the chocolate and glazed donut along with the breakfast platter to go. It took maybe 10 minutes for the food so I ate a donut and coffee. They have a smaller space but do a lot with seating. A group of 4 would fit along the window or by combining two tables together. The donuts were fairly large and delicious but my three star rating is due to the breakfast platter. I ordered it to go so wasn't expecting nice presentation but everything was wayyyyyy overacted. The platter comes with two hash browns and I wasn't able to eat either of then they were so salted. The eggs were also over salted and they only provide one piece of bacon cut up. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place, because its among Brooklyn's best for doughnuts. Top 5 actually. It may be because I'm trying to cut down on sugary treats and with it being so close to home, it can be VERY dangerous. But that's a good thing for you all! I first visited here back in 2017 on behalf of my nephew, who is thin enough to partake in constant donuts. We've visited Moes, Peter Pan, and Dun-Well together, and while those are all very, very good, for me what's now Fat Doughnut (much better name than Brooklyn Doughnutry) feels like a great, down-home, no frills spot that has superior sweets. What's best about it is the variety. They usually have so many different flavors, and types, that the pick can be difficult. But don't worry, you'll have to walk out with at least two tasty treats, and maybe even one will make it home. The staff are also very nice, and patient. They make the experience that much better. I look forward to returning to Fat Doughnut soon. Try to get there before 11am though, before they start selling out! read more

These are really big doughnuts. And for a yeast variety, it is very dense. Ilya, the laid back, guy who came in from a cigarette break to help me was very friendly. Made me think of some of the "uncles" from eastern Europe. When I arrived, there were only 3 in the window, one vanilla and two maple. He suggested I try the maple doughnut because it was his favorite. I ended up with one of each (remind myself to never browse hungry). It took the better part of the day to finish the vanilla one (not too sweet), and I struggled to finish the maple (a bit sweet for my taste). It seems the flavor/sweetness predominantly comes from the icing, not the doughnut. Pretty decent confection. I will be back for the lovely cinnamon rolls I spotted on my way out of the door. read more

TLDR: Super exceptional service! Banana nut donut great! We found this place on yelp and was surprised how close it was to our hotel. So of course we had to try! Noticing that, the lady offered us a free bottled water instead when we buy 2 donuts. So nice! We instantly felt really good and cared for by her. She offered some explanations on the wonderful variety of unique donuts. Ultimately I settled on the banana nut donut because I love bananas. My wife got a salted pretzel caramel one. We thanked her again for being so flexible and walked out with our treasures. I enjoyed the n banana nut. The banana glaze had a hint of banana which is good. Too much banana would make it too sweet and also artificial tasting. The nuts bring a nice salty crunchy balance. Unfortunately, my wife's donut wasn't as good. The pretzels were soggy and we didn't get the distinction of flavors like the banana one. It was just sweet, too sweet. It would taste much better if it had a stronger chocolate taste (because caramel is usually too powerful) and the pretzels were crunchy. Despite that, I'm still giving this place 5 stars, because of the wonderful excellent service and the variety of unique flavors. Plus the donut itself is airy and light, not too cakey. What a bunch of friendly and conversational individuals! My sisters, dad and I were staying in Brooklyn for a few days and stumbled upon this quant establishment and were not disappointed; we ended up coming back four times! A popular favorite is the Maple Glaze donut! I recommend dipping it in your morning coffee to soak for a bittersweet combination! Speaking of coffee, they have a wide variety of coffee drinks. My personal favorite was the Red Eye with a oat milk (they also have almond milk available too). They also have a selection of breakfast and lunch options too from paninis, omelets, to delicious crepes! My dad's favorite was the Salmon Panini! They definitely don't skimp out on the quality and quantity when it comes to the paninis. The crepes are to DARN TOO GOOD. Each of the crepes we orders left a satisfied smile on our faces. Even if there was a mistake with the order, they were more than happy to fix it for us. They were considerate and quick. I absolutely love and appreciate service like them.
