The foot massage starts with a warm foot soak in bath salts of your choosing. They offer to start with a head rub and get to going on your neck and shoulders. I came in with a painful tendonitis flare-up in my right foot and was hoping a nice foot massage would help provide some relief. I chose this place partly because their website talks about how the founder had painful plantar fasciitis (a similar condition to mine) and found relief through massage, so I hoped that mission would filter down to the rest of the organization. I booked a 90-minute foot massage and tried to explain to the massage provider that I wanted lots of attention paid to this foot. I had a lovely experience in some ways - great neck and shoulder massage with lots of pressure (I'm still sore today), nice atmosphere (except for a fellow client who refused to silence their phone), very relaxing. However... weirdly (for a foot massage place), the body parts that received the LEAST amount of attention were the soles of my feet. Once the vigorous upper body work was over, there was lots of gentle stroking of my legs and feet, hot stones (nice)... and then the next thing I knew, it was over and my feet never got the attention I was hoping for when I signed up for an $85 massage (plus tip). I kind of assumed they'd spend at least 30 of those 90 minutes (or more) focused on my feet. I know that "pre-packaged" massages at places like this don't allow for much customization, and communication is almost always an issue, but I immediately regretted spending that money. I was really excited about going to this spa as I had an incredible experience at the Orlando, FL location. Too bad the experiences were night and day. I walked in and told the front desk attendant I was early and he did not greet me, just replied, "One second." A young lady walked out, I believe her name was Melanny (according to the receipt), and told me she was ready for me. She pointed at the salt table and said nothing else. I asked, "Am I supposed to select one of these?" and she told me yes. I followed her to the chair and I'm giving this place 2 stars because the room is really nice, dimly lit, seats are comfortable, and there are dividers between seats. The massage started with my shoulders and it felt really good -- super relaxing. It was when she moved to my arms that the massage went all the way downhill, fast. It's like she mismanaged time and rushed through the rest of the experience. The foot massage, the main reason I made an appt, was absolutely awful! It irks me when a masseuse does the same 3 moves over and over for an entire 30min massage! She had nails so each time she would rub the soles of my feet, her nails dug into them -- and she kept doing this same move over and over until I couldn't take it anymore and told her that her nails were hurting me. There might've been a language barrier because she said ok, but continued to do the same move over and over! This wasn't the worst part though. After the quick 10 seconds of hot stone massaging, she grabbed dry towels and SCRUBBED the mess out of my legs. Y'all, you would've thought she was trying to clean mud off my legs or something. Apparently, I had a scrape on my leg because she scrubbed so hard that she scrubbed the scab off! Both of my legs are on fire!! The last 10min were legit torture -- scrubbing, pulling, slapping, and rough throwing of my legs and feet around. This is NOT the experience I was looking for. Never again! Now before writing this review,I have had several visits to this location. I will honestly say my body and my feet were sent to heaven every time. You will never know how relaxing it can be to have a massage that focuses on just your feet. This place is always very clean. Sometimes other guest can be a little noisy ,but that's not their fault. I guess I like this place because of the tiny extras,like scented( you choose) Epson salt they put in your foot bath. You also get to choose a aroma theropy. These little touches are included in the price of the 90 minute and 2 hour services. I usually just stick with the heavenly foot massage. However I have had the more extensive one where they exfoliate and use a mud mask on your feet. I found the 90 minute heavenly foot massage though worked better for me. My only issue I find is sometimes my foot bath water could stand to be a touch higher. My friend has been coming here for years and loves it. I came with him and now I understand why. VALUE: Cannot beat. $35 for an hour foot massage with 30 minutes being shoulder/neck and the other 30 minutes being feet. I think it used to be $30, but I still definitely think it's worth it! DECOR: The entrance way is decorated very femininely, but it's kind of cute and colorful. Less relaxing/modern than a lot of other spas, but I dig. They have their 3 types of foot bath salts out there. Once you go inside it's a dark large room that is shared with everyone getting foot rubs and everyone is very quiet (whispering when speaking, which isn't often). If you did want to talk I've been warned not everyone speaks great English. MASSAGE: They ask what kind of pressure you want. I told them hard, which was quite strong for the neck but in the way I wanted. It was oddly sensual, the guy was touching my hair and neck more delicately than my boyfriend would... but I'm cool with it. Wish the foot massage was a wee bit stronger, but I didn't want to say much in the quiet room. Plus I'm pretty sure I fell asleep for a few minutes on that part anyway. I'm highly disappointed in this place of business after coming for 2 consecutive years. They definitely need to have a meeting about customer service. I booked an appointment for my best friend's birthday. I booked the appointment on Friday February 4th at 6:15pm with the heavy set male that's usually at the front desk. We confirmed over the phone for Sunday at 4pm. I arrive after an 45 min drive to the location only to find out that my appointment wasn't made. No big deal in my mind just accommodate me for the mistake at least BUT NO!! They tell me that they cannot service me because I didn't have an appointment!! I then asked to speak to a manager. I pulled up the call in my phone showing the receptionist the phone call that I made on Friday. They/she didn't care! Once the receptionist spoke to her manager she decided to speak in Spanish. This woman, mannn, had the touch of an iron angel. Things to know: ***** I. LOCATION & PARKING The biz is located in a strip mall to the right of murder Kroger. The lot is pretty gigantic, although, parking on the weekends is hella savage. II. OPTIONS They have acupressure/ full body massage for $50 and foot massage (including upper body) for $30. They also have aromatherapy, but who does aromatherapy? Lol. You also get to pick a salt, or sand, or whatever the stuff is on the table in the lobby, for your feet. I picked lavender. haha. III. SERVICE My lady and I each received the one-hour "foot massage," even though it surprisingly incorporated twenty minutes of head and upper-body rubs. More about the service, her fingers felt like they were going to puncture my skin, especially when she was rubbing my pecs. Oh, and my head, I thought she planned on crushing it like a watermelon dropped from a two story building onto cement. I think I passed out from pleasure. She also massaged my arm, while I was wearing a shirt. I asked her if I should take off my shirt, and she said that I didn't have to. Confused? I was, too. After she finished with my upper-body, she worked on my feet. And for this part of the massage, she gave me a towel that I could use to cover my eyes. (Why couldn't I use it during the upper-body head part? I don't know. lol.) She pulled my toes, dug into my heels, rubbed my arches. Then, she started to slap my thighs and stroke my calf muscles. Everything felt great, but wasn't this just supposed to be a massage for my feet? What is going on? Lol. IV. AMBIENCE & DECOR In addition to mass confusion throughout this hour ordeal, I didn't like how the dark, semi-private room with immaculate comfy chairs and all, had the bright light from the lobby pierce into the backroom every time someone opened the door. Either they block out the sun from entering the lobby, or install heavy curtains in both front and back of that door. V. PRICES Incredibly affordable. $30 for a "foot" massage? Hell yeah. VI. OTHER TIDBITS From the outside, I assumed that Heavenly was Asian run. It's actually held down by Latinos, so that's pretty cool since I've never been to a Latino massage joint. VII. Heavenly has a lot of things going for it versus the many BuHi locations I've visited: 1 - It's in town 2 - It's darker and quieter 3 - It's new 4 - It's more spa-like And disadvantages: 1 - Massage not as great 2 - Appointments are a necessity My favorite foot spa on Buford Highway is Spa 18 because of it's spa-like qualities (Treat Your Feet feels kinda family-room-ish to me, but to each their own). Heavenly has got that modern, spa quality down... at least as much as you can for a foot spa. I love that when I arrive at Heavenly, I get to choose my "scent" of stuff to go in the soaking water and scent of lotion for the massage. I usually choose one of the ones that is a fizzy salt. Like other foot spas, they get some nice hot water for you to soak your feet in. But instead of just letting you sit and relax, they get started immediately on massaging your next, shoulders, back, etc. I like that they set a timer for the massage; it keeps them honest. It's not so relaxing when the timer goes off, but I can appreciate what they're doing. As for the massage. Well it's not the best. I mean, it's really hard to go wrong when you're feet-rubbing, but I definitely prefer the expert hands of my friends in the Buford Highway spas. The massages at Spa 18 and other places seem more methodical, more thoughtful, and definitely more pressure (reflexology). Heavenly just feels more like someone rubbing around and pressing here are there. I really like how dark it is here - Heavenly is more a place to go by yourself (or be OK with going with someone else and barely being able to see them). It's definitely relaxing. All the chairs are outfitted with headphones and iPads, although the one time I tried to use them they kind of pushed it out of the way and made me take the headphones off...I probably should have waited until the foot part of the massage. One thing that was off-putting....I brought in one of their promotion cards. You bring in a friend who hasn't been and both you and your friend get 50% off. When I presented the card I was told the deal was "no longer active". Sure enough the card doesn't have an expiration, it just says something about promotions being active. I found it odd that they denied me the deal but they still had the very same cards out on the front desk and on the little tables by the chairs. Hmmmmmm...... I come to the location once a month but for past two months i HAVE been getting poor service. when I book my appointment today I asked for an experienced massage therapist. I spoke with the manager of the location and he insist that he would place with an experienced therapist. I've ever had in my life.. after coming out to check out asking to speak with the manager again about the service performed.
