Last Friday, July 20th, 2018 I was able to secure an appointment & drive up. Apparently 77N is the preferred route but my GPS said that taking that route would take 2:45 hours! The alternate route was 85N to Rt52. That route was supposed to take 1.5 hours, so I set off and lo and behold I arrived with half an hour to spare. The building isn't immediately visible even though its right across the street.There's a blue house with pink shutters that draws the eye to it & people seem to think its the right place despite no signage and an irritated owner. It took a couple minutes to register that AoM was in fact on the left side of the road so I turned the car around and parked in front. There is plenty of parking on the street, the property doesn't have a private lot. But I didn't drive 1.5 hours to park off street. The entrance is welcoming. What appears to be a front door that squeaks a lot actually doesn't which is good because it would interrupt the therapy sessions. Reception is in the back of the house not the front, on the right hand side. The room is dominated by an enormous mirror. My therapist, Erin Needham was waiting for me. She gave me a brief tour of the property then we entered a room at the front of the house that looked like a set from a theater. I had chosen ashiatsu, which is when the therapist uses their feet to perform the massage. It goes a lot deeper than hands alone & I needed the deepest therapy possible as I had gone without a massage for a very long time. Erin worked on me for 2 hours. She had mixed some peppermint, eucalyptus & lavender essential oils into the massage oil to address some issues I was having. I felt renewed & rejuvenated after the session and that feeling is still with me. I will be returning as soon as I can. You may ask why I chose this location when they also have a location in Charlotte & the answer is that I have been a client of the Charlotte location for a number of years. But therapists don't seem to stay long at the Charlotte location and I don't like to have to figure out if I'm compatible with a therapist during the session.

When I entered, staff welcomed me and showed me where the water was and the bathroom. Once it was my time, Meredith met me in the lobby and then walked me back. I told her I was looking for a massage that focused more on my back and feet as that is where my pain was. She started me on my belly and focused on my back. At one point she ended up using hot stones which I did not expect, but it added to the experience. Then she focused on my calves and feet. It was all a good pressure. I booked a "Therapeutic Table Massage" with Shannon Trudeau and had a very traumatic experience…read more When I arrived I explained to her I like firm pressure and was having issues with my shoulders and neck and upper back being very tight and I would like to primarily focus on those areas. The first 30 minutes of my massage were her guiding some sort of yoga nidra exercise with no actual massaging. I had to ask her when the massage would actually start. She seemed to have a huge ego about the request and continued her guided exercise. Once she did start "massaging" me, it was just her placing her hands on my body very lightly and doing static holds on trigger points. I explained to her I would Like more muscle stimulation in the form of a faster deeper massage but she didn't listen to my requests and kept doing the things she was doing that I did not ask for. She didn't pay attention tho the specific areas that I came in to address and spent most of the time on my arms and legs. She talked the majority of the massage and kept instructing me to take deep breaths. I do not come in to this for a therapy session which is what it felt like. The table was cold and so was the room. I had to ask her to turn the heat on the table mid session because I was freezing and her hands were freezing. She did not seem to have any knowledge of anatomy, massage, or draping. After the session was over she sat me down and wanted to go over her "findings" and it felt really uncomfortable having someone tell me all the areas in my body she noticed I was tight but not actually using the time I paid for to resolve any of those issues. I did not book a trigger point massage, a reiki session, or a therapy session. I mentioned to her multiple times I was not wanting the type of "massage" she gave me and she said that "energetically we may not be a good fit" - in my option this is such a rude thing to say to someone who was very clear about the massage I wanted to receive and requested it multiple times only to be completely ignored - probably because this person is not educated enough or capable of doing actual massage. This practitioner is borderline harmful and should not be practicing any healing modality. I felt disgusting after leaving her session. I felt completely ignored and judged. I debated weather or not I should leave this review but after experiencing this I wanted other people to know the potential harms of booking with this practitioner. Please remove her from "therapeutic table massage" because she didn't actually massage me and this is really misleading for customers.

Personally, I prefer foot massages over full-body massages. I initially found Ann when I heard that reflexology foot massages could help heal my eight-month-long plantar fasciitis pain. After five or six visits, my plantar fasciitis pain completely disappeared, and I've kept going biweekly to prevent it from ever coming back. (Spoiler alert - foot massages have prevented any recurrence!) Since reflexology worked so well on me, my husband started getting regular foot massages himself. He used to have foot pain from running, and his pain disappeared as well. He's now into walking--rather than running--and Ann's foot massages have kept him pain-free. Ann is the best reflexologist, and her foot massages never cause me pain. Her new location off Zion Avenue is cozy and comfortable. We'll continue going as long as she remains in business!
