Our first ever visit at Heceta Lighthouse was back in July 2016 and promised to be back to stay at B&B .. Here we are exactly 10 years later, we recently stayed overnight for our 29th year Wedding Anniversary at the Heceta Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast and it was an unforgettable experience! Weekend reservations usually have a two-night minimum requirement but was exempt on August 8th given that there was a Bridal Party staying for the entire weekend! We stayed in the Cape Cove Room, which is definitely on the cozier, smaller side, but beautifully appointed with historic charm, antique furniture, and a great view of the Cape Creek Bridge. It does feature a shared bathroom (standing tub only) but was an experience nonetheless! The hospitality was lovely. We did miss the "Wine & Cheese" social on the day of our arrival given that we visited friends in Brookings and took our time driving up the coast. Note to self: Make sure to arrive just in time for check- in so that you do not miss social afternoon which we heard from other guests was a wonderful way to learn about the history of the lightkeeper's cottage. We arrived just past 10pm, the parking was a bit tight for our truck (Tacoma) but the absolute highlight of the evening was taking a flashlight and walking up the path to sit right under the working lighthouse at night--watching the beams sweep across the dark ocean is something we will never forget (between 10:30p - 11:30p); Make sure to bring your own water, dinner or snacks since the inn is isolated, but they do have a great guest kitchen you can use. Unbeknownst to us, we were delighted with a 4-course breakfast the next morning. Every dish was uniquely prepared, family-style, using fresh herbs from their own garden. I review restaurants with my OAT method: Overall experience - My husband and I stayed here the first night on our honeymoon. The history, views, and food are worthwhile. It is a beautiful place to stay! Appearance - We stayed in the Queen Anne room, which we were told is the most romantic! Our bedroom did not have a bathroom, due to how old the place is. We did know this going in, but it was still worth it because the bathtub was wonderful and we were the only ones using it that night. Taste - The 7 course breakfast was everything you would hope and dream a 7 course breakfast would be and BETTER!! The first time I drove the Oregon coast we stopped at the Heceta Head lighthouse. I remember parking at the paid lot and admiring the open arched bridge, that beautiful rocky cove of a beach, and the quintessential lighthouse view. We took the trail up to the lighthouse and saw the lightkeeper's home on the way. There is a fence all around and it is not open to the public, but there were people sitting on the porch! We realized it was a bed and breakfast and I was heartbroken not to have known about it before as we certainly would have included a stay there in our vacation plans. I tucked it away as a hopeful wish for someday.... Well, little did I know at the time, we ended up moving to Oregon a few years later! As soon as we were settled, I determined we must make a weekend trip and stay at the lighthouse. We finally did and it lived up to every one of my lofty expectations. The lightkeeper's house is accessed via a private road, and there are a few parking spaces near the house, but it was pretty tight. Upon arrival, we were greeted and brought to our room, with a quick tour of the home and some suggestions of things to see or do while there. We booked one of the Mariner's rooms as they have such a gorgeous view of the ocean. The bedroom and bathroom inside were definitely small, but that is to be expected in a historic home, and no matter as the bed was comfortable as could be! Of note, some rooms share a bathroom so check while booking if you have a preference. Once we'd checked it out, we stopped by the cheese and fruit out for guest's arrival on our way to the beach, and they were so sweet to give us a little box so we could pack some goodies to enjoy on the sand. They had wine, too! We spent a perfect hour or so at the beach, then headed into Florence for dinner. This or Yachats are the closest city for meals (about 20 minutes either direction) so either eat before you check in, or plan to go back out. They do have a kitchen that is available for guests, so you could bring an easy to prepare meal. Once we'd returned, we spent some more time at the beach, then relaxed in our room until dark. Then we grabbed a flashlight and headed on up the trail to admire the lighthouse in the night. This was such a unique experience and the highlight of our stay. You can see how far out the light beams to sea, and we hiked up a bit behind the lighthouse, so we were right at the level with the rotating light. Incredible! Back in our room, we cracked the windows for a lovely ocean breeze and fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Perfection. In the morning, I took a little time to read through the ghost stories they have collected (too wimpy to read at night!), we wandered around the beach for a bit, and then guess what! The stay isn't over yet as there is a stunning seven course breakfast! This is served family style with other guests, although they do give you the option to dine separately if you let them know ahead of time. The food was magnificent! They explained each dish as it came out and it was all so fresh and skillfully prepared. We had a tropical fruit salad, bread, tuna ceviche, mango smoothie, quiche, sausage, panna cotta, and finished with fruit and cheese. Of note, if you don't wish to stay but would like to have breakfast in the lightkeeper's house, they do special breakfasts for special occasions and at certain times of the year, just check the website for dates. After the meal, they offered a little history tour inside the house which we sadly didn't have time to stay for, but we did go to the lighthouse for quick tour and to peruse the gift shop before checking out. It truly was such a dream of a trip, and I would definitely suggest staying for two nights. I thought one would be sufficient but would have loved more time. A couple tips about the area: This is just a mile or two north of the Sea Lion Caves. They are 110% a tourist trap, but still worth a visit if you've never been. We ate dinner at Mari's Kitchen in Florence and it was delicious, would highly suggest it, although it is located in a cute downtown area with all sorts of options. The same people who run the bed and breakfast own Ona's in Yachats, so I'm sure that would be great too. While in the area, make sure to plan some time to explore magical Cape Perpetua. read more

Ive always wanted to stay in a lighthouse.. Reached out to Heceta Lighthouse BnB a few weeks ago to make a reservation. I emailed, sent messages on Facebook, and left a phone message. They finally called back today with an excuse, oh well this will be a lost on their part. I decided not stay here due to the unprofessionalism. Also, I didnt want to share a bathroom with other guest that weekend. The price is pretty steep to sharing a bathroom, Im assuming for this area its common. Either way the price definitely wasn't the issue at all. Just wanted others to read before booking and ask about the cancellation policy upfront. Im sure its a great stay, we will be passing on this one. read more

This was one of the best experiences we've ever had! The beauty, charm, and history of the B&B was incredible. All staff were so friendly and welcoming. I was very impressed by just how impeccably clean the entire place was. We stayed for 3 nights and was very glad we did, as it gave us time to enjoy the full experience, explore, relax, and just take everything in. The 7-course breakfasts were well worth it - beautiful, delicious, and quite filling despite each course being small. We weren't hungry again until about 6:00 pm! It was also wonderful to meet so many different people from all over the U.S., including a couple from Belgium. A shared breakfast table is one of the best experiences of a B&B! The wine & cheese offered in the late afternoon was a treat, and so lovely to partake of on the porch while listening to and watching the ocean. The history lesson after breakfast was informative and entertaining! Upon the caretaker's suggestion we went up to the lighthouse at night, and we were so glad we did. It's a beautiful sight, and even somewhat magical. Relaxing on the front porch at night watching the sunset was truly serene. This place is highly popular, so definitely book well in advance to ensure you get the room and view you want, as well as a private bathroom (only some of the rooms have one). Also, if visiting the lighthouse is the main reason for your visit, be sure to call the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to ask about any possible repairs or closures. The B&B is maintained by the U.S. Forest Service, and may not be aware of upcoming closures of the lighthouse. read more

This is a must do while visiting the Oregon Coast!! The light keepers room especially. Worth the $$. Quiet, romantic, beautiful scenery you can't get anywhere else. The Hobbit trail (absolutely gorgeous hike) and visiting the lighthouse at night is a must! The Breakfast was so yummy! Bring dinner and sit in the dining area of this historical home it's like your transformed into another date and time. Everyone was so welcoming/ good hosts. One of the last remaining Lightkeeper's cottages on the Pacific Coast, now operating as a Bed & Breakfast. Constructed in the late 1800's, the charming Queen Anne style house is placed on a stunning oceanfront property. The well preserved historic lighthouse is a just a short walk away. The Oregon coast is arguably just as beautiful as the California coast, but luxury accommodations are almost nonexistent. Heceta Head B&B is one of your most comfortable options, as well as a unique experience. There are 6 rooms, accommodating a maximum of 15 guests. Complimentary wine is offered every evening, as well as a daily 12 course breakfast. I was surprised to find that breakfast was still being served indoors during the Covid-19 pandemic. My partner and I did not feel comfortable with this, so the lovely breakfast director Wendy wrapped all of our food to go. I saw her picking herbs in the garden out front to use for the meal. So charming! Everything was delicious, especially the truffled eggs benedict and apple tart. We stayed in Mariners Room 2 ($430/night), one of the two ocean view rooms. The other rooms look cute, but for a memorable stay, you must opt for one of these. The room was very small, but tastefully decorated. Soft bed, fitted with high thread count sheets. The view was truly stunning. Nothing compares to listening to the crashing waves of the ocean, as you drift off to sleep. The WiFi did not work at all throughout our 3 day stay. There is also no cell reception. This ultimately forced me to relax and detox from work, but the situation was not ideal. We stayed on Halloween, which was very fun because the house is supposedly haunted. No ghost sightings, but a great experience overall. Recommend! read more

I had a cozy and relaxing stay here! Wish I could have stayed for more than one night. The fellow guests were friendly and I really liked socializing with them. It was so nice after hours on the road to sit on the porch, snack on our cheese plate, and chat with people while we watched the ocean. There are board games and lawn games, a parlor fireplace for chilly mornings, and snacks available for cheap. The complimentary fruit and cheese plate was yummy, and our extra chocolate and fruit dessert was an amazing midnight snack. The 7-course breakfast was a unique experience, very gourmet, but I did wish the dishes were larger to fill me up for a day of hiking. The history talk afterwards was cool. The Cape Cove room was warm and cozy with a super comfy bed and a view of the bridge and beach. I loved watching the waves and listening to them as I fell asleep. The bathroom was cute and I enjoyed my morning wake-up soak in the clawfoot tub. It fills slowly though so leave enough time before breakfast. We were lucky and didn't have to share the bathroom during our stay since no one had booked the other room. The caretakers were very accommodating of our requests ahead of time via phone call, but forgot a couple things by the time our stay came. As requested, they set us up for breakfast in the guest kitchen where we could close the doors to isolate ourselves more. And they saved a cheese plate for us since we were arriving later. But we had some issues getting our wine at first. We also received and paid for a dessert that I had called to cancel and refund, but instead of bringing it up we just ate it. It's pretty much off the grid - they have heaters and wifi - but be prepared to relax and enjoy the sounds of the sea (and sea lions if the season is right:). Staying at the Lighthouse Bnb has been on my radar for 4-5 years, so I am very glad they've been able to weather the close down! Other guests I met there came out specially or organized their trips based on room availability, and I realized early on I should have booked multiple nights as they. In no way were we disappointed. The staff was welcoming and accommodating, the place immaculate, and décor a living history lesson (well, it is fantastic to soak in a clawfoot tub with indoor plumbing). Every window offers a picture worthy view. At night, you have the beach below and lighthouse to yourselves. One girl even bought wood and smores. I thought I'd feel like the odd-man-out staying as a single, and a grungy hiker at that, but was rest-assured that there were other singles. And I don't think I've talked as much to other people in the past year as I did then. I needn't say anything about the wine and appetizer plate or breakfast, since you already know they're superb. HIKER TIPS (this is for you OCT'ers!) : the Lane.link bus can stop southbound (only) from Yachats-Florence if you call Three Rivers Taxi in advance for a flag stop. It'll be at the beach access turn off. This way you can avoid the tunnel just beyond. Guest have use of a kitchen, so you can bring and prepare food. Hike the trails up above the lighthouse and down to Hobbit Beach; it was one of the prettiest trails I've seen on the coast. read more

An Amazing Place to Visit and the views are spectacular. The check in host was very nice and accommodating and gave us a good tour of the house. The wine and cheese plate was delicious, however the wine was low quality for the atmosphere. Our room "The Queen Anne" was very nice and clean. Sharing the bathroom was not a problem for us and we enjoyed the claw-foot tub "After We Cleaned It !". The seven course breakfast was nice, but to long (2+hrs). The breakfast was more like seven dishes of Hors d'oeuvres, not a meal. The service at breakfast was a 3-star at best, we had to refill our own coffee and water and no juice was offered. For the overall price, we thought the service should have been better, bigger portions served and no seconds were offered either. Note: You can get the Breakfast to go if you notify the staff the day before. Something we were not informed about and they would not accommodate us for our second morning. Visiting the light house at night and watching the sunset was amazing. We chose to have a little picnic on the side of the hill next to the light house and watch the sunset, that turned out to be a great decision, memories that we will have forever. We recommend staying there once, but we are not planning on returning. We did not given it a 4 or 5 star for the disappointments written above. read more

During out road trip around Oregon and Northern California we stayed at multiple places and this was by far our favorite. Everything was absolutely perfect the entire time we were here. It was easy to find and the check in process was easy. The house is beautiful as well as the rooms and the view. Our room was nice and the bathroom clean even though we had to share it with another room. We really enjoyed sitting outside on the porch. You can read and paint like we did or just sit and enjoy. The have games and blankets for you to use as well. In the evening you were able to sit inside by the fire. Outside you can walk over to the lighthouse or take the path down to the beach. The employees and other guests were all very friendly. In the morning they serve you an amazing breakfast and if you want you can listen to the stories/history of the house and hear some fun ghost stories. In the afternoon they have a wine and cheese hour that is highly enjoyable. I don't like to go to the same place very often but I would love to stay here again. read more

If you want the experience of staying in a lightkeepers house, this B&B was so much fun! It was clean, comfortable and the staff were all so helpful and kind. We arrived a bit late and a staff member was waiting for us with wine and a cheese platter. I know he stayed beyond his shift and we were so grateful. A seven-course breakfast was included every morning and it was the highlight of our trip. Every course was so delicious. You are free to roam the grounds, visit the gift shop, walk up to the lighthouse, or down to the beach. I recommend a walk just before sunset. The view from the lighthouse is amazing, plus it's fun to walk back in the dark. Wine and cheese on the front porch in the afternoon was lovely. The view is so beautiful. Whenever we drove up the Oregon coast we would pull over near the Sea Lion Caves and take a picture of the beautiful Heceta Head lighthouse and light keeper's house on a rocky cliff jutting out to sea surrounded by a beautiful beach located in the most scenic location imaginable. We read that this is the most photographed lighthouse in the United States. "Buy me that house", my girlfriend would say. Whenever she discussed it, she referred to it as "my house". More recently we learned that the fully restored Queen Anne Light Keeper's house, which is run by the Oregon State Parks, is now a bed and breakfast We stayed in the "cozy" Cape Cove room. Cozy as in tiny, the smallest bedroom in the house. It shares a bathroom across the hall. After careful deliberation of all our room options we choose this room because it was the only one available. This room has a nice view of the historic Cape Creek Bridge and the beautiful cove below. There are a total of six bedrooms, four have a private bath. A seven course breakfast is included in the price and is a truly enjoyable experience. Americans typically don't like to share a table with strangers. I think we are afraid of intruding ourselves into someone else's lives. When we first sat down, everyone was very quiet with only an occasional whisper between couples. Soon the hosts came in, had everyone introduce themselves, tell everyone where they were from and a little about themselves. After that, the conversation turned lively. By the time the hosts came back to the table to introduce the first course, the dining room was so loudly engaged in conversation that the hosts had to ring a bell to get our attention. After the gates close in the evening you pretty much have the entire place to yourself. You can have the cove to yourself at sunset. Have you ever wanted to touch and examine all the items in a museum? You can touch and examine everything since there is no one here to stop you! One of the highlights of our stay was walking up to the lighthouse at night. This is a fully operational working lighthouse, the brightest light on the Oregon coast. Their web site says many couples propose marriage here and I can believe it. It was an amazing magical romantic experience. . We enjoyed every minute of our stay here. It was an experience I'm sure we will remember very fondly for the rest of our lives. I can't afford to buy this place for my girlfriend even if it was for sale, but at least we were able to stay there. That's probably better anyway since Oregon can worry about maintenance and the hosts can prepare the elaborate breakfasts and clean up afterwards. read more

I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts over the years. But here is a unique opportunity to stay at a fabulous location with an absolutely incredible view. The staff was generous and wonderful - the property was exceptionally clean. The best part, however, was the incredible seven-course breakfast - wow! We weren't hungry until mid-afternoon - just in time for the wine hour! So, even though the price seemed a little high, the inclusion of the wine hour and breakfast are valuable additions. It was wonderful to realize that all of us who stay here are also supporting this amazing historical property. Highly recommended, even with a shared bath room. read more

If you love being surrounded by history and enjoying epic service, you need to stay at the B&B. The decor is amazing...from the four poster bed in the Queen Anne room to the clawfoot bathtub...right down to the tapestries hanging on the walls. The breakfast is worth the entire stay. Not only is the food excellent and very fresh and local, it is also served with a special flair. You get important information about each and every dish, where the ingredients are sourced from, and you are waited on hand and foot. THEN they open the gift shop just for you! :) Bring a bottle of wine, they don't have any, but they do have the glasses and refrigerator for your use. Light a fire, and curl up on the couch to storm watch or just to have a lovely evening with a special person--or a great book! Take a nighttime trip up to the lighthouse with the provided flashlight, and read the journal entries, to see all about those who came before you...and add your own historical note, as well! read more

Don't stay here! Read all the other negative reviews. They state the truth. They take your money and do not refund! We couldn't sleep the whole night. They have bedbugs and they denied it. Of course, they won't admit it, because it's detrimental to their business. We had a bad night due to the bed bug bites and we didn't want to stay for the 2nd (pre-paid one month in advance) night. They offered to move us to another room. They said we'll see what we can do, we'll get back to you. We left thinking that they would reimburse us for the night we didn't stay. We had to find another hotel to stay at. Then we had to keep calling to ask them for the refund. Finally a week later, they flat out told us that "They couldn't do anything about it" and refused to refund the prepaid 2nd night stay. Be aware: Besides the bed bugs problem, both Mariner rooms (their larger rooms with in suite bathrooms) are super small and uncomfortable, not much space to open suitcases; and so are the bathrooms, besides been jaded and obviously not clean. There is no food for sale if you want to stay for dinner. Nearest restaurant is 25 min away. The Lighthouse itself is charming, but dilapidated. Cannot go inside. Closed to public. Do yourself a favor and just go there during the daytime, to visit the outside of the lighthouse and take pictures. The B&B is over-rated, over-priced and the service is not good. Guests staying are left on their own after 5:30pm. No service of any kind, until breakfast. Breakfast is ok, but nothing to rave on. This place is not worth the money. Stay away from it. read more

This is a really well kept secret. I am an Oregon Native and a fan of the Oregon Coast and all that is spectacular about the Pacific Northwest. So when I got engaged the second time...I spontaneously annouced that I wanted to get married on the Oregon Coast and he agreed - wholeheartedly! Super Duper, huh? Everything came together when I began working with Kim and Michelle at Heceta Head Lighthouse. They were both very delightful and (to be honest) I was e-mailing them often with my detailed concerns about the date, the time of the wedding, the colors of the flowers, the officiant's religious preferences, the weather, the suset times, and so on... From the Welcome Letter to all the brides getting married there to the final good-bye's as I climbed into my "limo" (which was an executive suburban car...the limo died on the way to my wedding!) it was a surreal and exciting experience. In addition, the folks I know who stayed at the Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast called me the next day to outline, in detail, the glorious food and the experience they had in the morning at the Heceta Head Lightouse multiple-course meal. The most amazing experience they had experienced at a Bed and Breakfast... I need to comment on the packages offered by the Lighthouse as well. I am very wary of PACKAGE deals (you pay one price and we'll give you these things...) but I wanted my second wedding to be EASY and CLASSY and complete without being too "first wedding like" and this place fit the bill. (Don't get me wrong, if I had my choice, both my weddings would have been here...) The Package was COMPLETE. They offered a super intimate elopment type package and small package...for smaller budgets and smaller needs...and a medium and a large package...and a "rent the place for the weekend and have a tent and a lawn party type package (for that big wedding experience of a lifetime.) We chose what I thought was a larger of the smaller sized package: --Bridal Bouquet --Grooms Boutonnière (added one for my son at no charge too!) --10" - 2 layer Wedding Cake from Waterfront Bake Shop --Officiate by Weddings by the Sea (Mary Cook who is so nice!) --Bottle of Champagne (we could add more if we wanted to) --Two Heceta Lightstation B & B Champagne Flutes --Photographer - Site Only (Dunes Photography & what a professional - the photos are spectacular!) --Gift Certificate for a dinner -- Limousine Ride from Heceta to Restaurant and Back Can you believe it? I just showed up with my dress, my family and friends (all 25 of them) and the love of my life. Everything fell into place so nicely that I floated on air all day. The Lighthouse had confirmed everything, the flowers were outstanding, the tea service was beautiful, the cake was the BEST wedding cake I have ever tasted (couldn't find Waterfront Bake Shop to review the cake!) and the location itself was historical, charming, and gorgeous - right out of a storybook. The final "take my breath away" moment came when I was reviewing the photos and realized how lovely the day really was - when I saw the smiles on my guest's faces and when I began to realize that I danced right into my new life with the Pacific Ocean right behind us! I would give this place 5 stars but when you paid top dollar for a mariner room, I would not expect to have a 7 course breakfast in the common kitchen. So be sure to inquire where will you sit prior to paying for a mariner room. I felt discriminated against for being a senior and Hispanic decent. When come to find out there was a couple that had the same seating as us the day before and remained in that placement the next day, yet my wife and I were put in the kitchen. ???? If it wasn't that the fact a couple was in the kitchen and offered to switch placement with us for the kitchen they would of never relocated us. Our daily lives have lived with covid regulations for a while now but to use it as an excuse for a place that could of very well accommodated an area where everyone else was is unacceptable. The Heceta Head Lighthouse BnB is a fantastic experience which I recommend heartily! When you stay there, you are welcomed by a knowledgeable hostess or host, to a building filled with lots of history and historic artifacts. There are different rooms available at varying rates to stay in overnight. One's stay there is completed with a seven-course breakfast served family style. And to top it off, you'd only a stone's throw from the historic Heceta Head lighthouse itself. I recommend one adds this to their bucket list if at all possible! read more

My partner and I have been planning our small 28 person wedding for a year. We had spoken many times to Misty and Jennifer about the planning of the event. The accommodations were perfect and the breakfast is to die for. The presentation and the food were over the top. Special thanks to Terry, she is uniquely informative and quite a hoot lol. Conde Nast magazine recommended staying here during our coastal vacation. It was an incredibly unique experience. The B&B is simply beautiful. Enjoy the porch and watch the sunset and sunrise. Take a flashlight from your room and follow the trail to the lighthouse at night. It's an incredible experience. The staff is warm and welcoming. While we missed the wine reception, the 7 course family-style breakfast exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed speaking with other guests while dining. Fabulous views, staff, house. Can't say how moving it was to watch the waves begin to curl and seem to catch fire as the setting sun lit up the spray. The sound of powerful waves pounding the cliffs throughout the night was incredible. If you want a way to get outside of the every day way of thinking and have a spiritual experience this is the place to be.Would recommend it to anyone any time. read more

This was a unique and tasty experience. Unique in that staying at the lighthouse keepers residence takes you WAY back in time. Far removed from today's rapid pace. The house is fascinating and well taken care of. Furniture and decor are appropriate for the time period and the pictures give an historical account of the light house's origin. We had the Queen Ann room which overlooked the garden and surrounding woods. It had a very comfortable bed and beautiful furnishings. I felt the essence of what it must've been like to live at the turn of the century. A short walk up the street wide trail to the light house gives you great views of the incredible coastline. Walking up at night gives you an incredible experience as Heceta's 8 prisms rotate 360 degrees around you. Hard to describe how cool it was. During the day, guides are available to fill you in on the history of Heceta Head and also other light houses up and down the coast. Staying overnight provides the opportunity to enjoy a fabulous 7 course breakfast. Each day of the week will be different so you want have the same thing twice. My taste buds were overwhelmed with the variety each course provided. Oregon coast seafood, herbs grown on site and the addition of so many other delicious local ingredients, made eating breakfast a hugely satisfying event. It shouldn't be missed. read more

Our time at Heceta Head Lighthouse was just perfect! The house is so quaint and very well maintained. Our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable and offered everything we needed for our two night stay. The 7 course breakfast was also delicious and was different on both mornings. The wine social hour was also a great experience and way to meet other guests and learn more about this historic landmark. We loved that Heceta Head is secluded and ended up spending most of our time on the front porch or hiking while overlooking the ocean rather that going into town. Jennifer offered exceptional service and hospitality and made us feel at home. If you are looking for a unique, quiet, and truly special place off the beaten path then look no further, you will not be disappointed! read more

As spooky or not as my review may sound I would highly recommend this place. I stumbled across this place by accident on a coastal trip from California to Washington so at the last minute I booked a room. Although it was off season(btw,this review is months over due) I was able to get the room for half off of what it is during high season. Therefore, cheaper rate, less amenities which meant no large sit down breakfast like all the other reviews state. Which for me was okay. Later I found that they do however still have coffee and freshly baked muffins in the morning, free of charge. Had I known that this B&B has years of ghost stories and is part of America's top 10 haunted houses in America. I might have never made the reservation or might have waived it off as a "whatever" and it's all crazy talk about a non-existant ghost. I did not at that time believe in "ghosts". Plus this was just a quick overnight stay. So who cares. After I checked in and explored the grounds of the B&B. I found in one of their sitting rooms, a log. A ghost sighting log! I was spooked by stories from other guests about a ghost at the Heceta Lighthouse Inn, especially when one previous guest wrote in the sightings log downstairs that the ghost comes out of the drop down attic stairs that is now located in the closet of MY room. She's said to be a nice ghost that wants her guests to be comfortable and likes to be neat and things in their place. Now very spooked but intrigued, I turn down the bed. Locked the door. Even blocked the closet door. It was cold that night and I pulled all the covers up to my shoulders so I wouldn't be cold. But during the night I got real hot and was going to pull down the top heavy coverlet but was afraid of getting out of bed. But luckily the hot did not continue on. I woke up the next morning. OMG! The heavy coverlet was pulled down. Not just that but folded nicely and a double fold. Someone had pulled it down and folded it neatly. Who? I'm a light sleeper and I know with the door chained no one came in. I knew I didn't do it. Then who did? It had to be the ghost. I know it's hard to believe but there it was edvidence staring right at me. If you do not believe me, just look at the photo of the bedspread that I downloaded for you all. Now, I am a firm believer that I was lucky enough to encounter a friendly ghost. Although scared of ghosts, will I go back. YES. I WILL! Although haunted it's still one of the most beautiful & magical places. And a friendly ghost just puts the icing on the cake. read more

Such a special historic place. The building is more than a hundred years old and comfortably upgraded keeping the historic virtue. Very accommodating and pleasant representatives for check in, wine and cheese and an unbelievable 7 Course breakfast. Terrific place for family or couples. read more

I've been coming to this lighthouse since I was a little girl, I was in awe of the views and the picture perfect B&B. I always pictured myself getting married here, and I did last August! My original wedding plans were to be in SD, but when I found out how affordable the wedding packages were, we decided to shoot for my childhood fantasy... It was absolutely perfect and the staff was great to work with. We stayed 3 nights, and each day was a wonderful memory. Definitely take advantage of seeing the lighthouse at night, the beams going over the ocean gave me chills of excitement! As for the gray lady, she's harmless, just keep your room clean! We plan to go back soon! read more

This is the third time I've stayed here. It holds some precious memories. However, this time was not as nice as I've had before. It's become very commercialized. The only room we could get was the cheapest $300!!!! We shared a bathroom with two other couples. Claw foot tub with no shower. They worked in the kitchen until 10PM Made all kinds of noise The 7 course breakfast was minimal. It felt rushed. The lighthouse was closed for tours. Honestly, they've ruined it. Just trying to make big money. It's sad because in the past it was a very special experience. Don't waste your money read more

Have seen this place many times and finally got a chance to stay in July of 08. The rooms are very small and quaint, but the location is unbelievable. You feel like you have a special pass to stay where others are not allowed. Walking up under the lighthouse at night with only a flashlight is an experience I will never forget. The history is incredible and the hosts do a good job of answering questions. The breakfast was by far the best I have ever had. 7 courses with palate cleanser!! I think breakfast took close to 2 hours to eat. It was an unforgettable experience. Though there were a lot of courses, the portions were quite small, so you could easily try everything and not feel too full at the end. I am planning a return trip for this summer. read more
