This little place was charming as as get out! We were in Oregon to visit my husband's family and decided we wanted something a little more romantic than a regular motel. The hosts were inviting and we were able to make last-minute reservations for two nights on the weekend. The location is wonderful. Right on the Siuslaw River in Old Town Florence so you can walk to restos, shops and the the beautiful marina and docks. Flowers adorned the front yard and all over the sitting porch. We were in the "Summer Room" and it had a lovely balcony were we left the door open all night for the wonderful beach breeze. Breakfast consisted of 5-courses, all house made. My husband and I were both stuffed by then end! We would definitely come here again! The only oddity was the bathroom door. We are both extremely private people and found it a bit chalenging to use the privy as the door does not go all the way to the top or bottom of the doorway. read more

I'll be the first to admit that I've always been a hotel kinda girl...I like the consistency that I get when I stay with a hotel chain. So when my husband told me that he booked us for 2 nights at the Edwin K Bed & Breakfast for our wedding anniversary, a very tiny part of me was a little concerned (what if this place isn't clean? what if the walls are thin? what if they don't provide soap?). However, all of my fears were alleviated as soon as we stepped in the door and met Marv, one of the owners. He was very easy-going, hospitable, and knowledgeable about the house and Florence. The house itself is well-decorated and very warming. After dropping off our bags in our room, we came back to the living room where we were welcomed with fresh cookies, tea, apple cider, and sherry. Wow! It was a nice treat after a long drive. The Bed & Breakfast is adjacent to Old Town Florence and has a great view of the Siuslaw River and Oregon Sand Dunes right outside the front door. The rooms are very spacious and some of them contain jacuzzi tubs (bonus during the cold Oregon nights!). Oh, and I forgot to mention the best part! The breakfast! Marv and Laurie prepare a 5 course breakfast every morning, and it seems to vary each day. It was nice not getting the same breakfast our 2nd morning. Everything was absolutely delicious. They make all of their jams and salsas homemade - they offered us 3 different types of jams and 3 different salsas! My coffee mug was never empty, and I definitely made elite status in the clean plate club each morning. The fresh out of the oven white chocolate scone is the best finale to the breakfast - I wanted to order some to-go. I would pay $30 easily for a breakfast like this in Portland (and gladly!). Overall, Marv and Laurie were 2 wonderful hosts. Breakfast was amazing. Room was nice and comfortable. Location couldn't be beat. Next time we're in Florence, we'll definitely be staying at the Edwin K again. read more

Great room, very nice accomodating hosts and beautiful old house. We stayed in the Spring Room - great view of the river and sand dunes. Plenty of room, comfy bed and wonderful shower + jacuzzi tub. All the grooming products I'd need, and a mini fridge with free bottled water. I was worried the 5 course breakfast would be a bit much - and it is more food than I need, but it's not ridiculous - the bread/scone courses are small and easily skipped. Location is great - walking distance of downtown. Marv was able to suggest a place I could get a massage while my husband was riding the sand dunes - perfect for everyone. Sherry in the afternoon (with some excellent homemade cookies) was a civilized touch. The Spring room does come with a few disclaimers - its got a lot of pastel colors (men secure in their masculinity can overlook this) and the "door" for the toilet is more like a bifold closet door (newlyweds might find it a bit flimsy). And now that I think about it, one more - I'd cut back just the tiniest bit on how many things are on counters/shelves/tables - it's just a touch cluttered and it's good to have a spot to put your wallet or keys or whatever and not have it get mixed in with decorations. There's also grace at breakfast, which isn't quite my thing, but it's the "safe travels" version and I didn't find it objectionable or pushy. Net is these guys know what they are doing - it's a classic bed and breakfast experience where the people running the place really work to make you comfortable, and you get to stay in a historic old house that has been restored with care. If you are in the area, this is a great place to stay. read more

Serendipity brought us to the Edwin K. We had the fortune of eating breakfast with another couple at the Sylvia Beach Hotel (great place!) at Nye Beach, and they told us of Florence and the Edwin K. We ended up in Florence about quittin' time, and liked the looks of it. Called the Edwin K and spoke to lovely Laurie....come on over! Wonderful Marv showed us the available rooms, and we chose the Spring room...a truly lovely Victorian decorated room with a large spa tub. Ahhhh! Marv and Laurie were both exquisite hosts....very friendly, very helpful, very much seemed to love what they were doing. The house is grand. It's an old Craftsman house, built in 1909, I think. The view out the front window of the river is great! The morning of our stay we sat and visited with another couple while we watched salmon jump....wow! The breakfast is absolutely fabulous - a 5 course meal of Laurie's home cooking (including homemade jellies, jams, and salsas), all served on elegant china. You are made to feel like a cherished guest! Marv gave us a wonderful run down during breakfast on what they consider "don't miss" spots north and south of there....along with basic directions! We appreciated that greatly, along with the wealth of other local information they provide. We were also fortunate to be there with two other couples who were great fun. What a lively, spirited, and fun conversation over breakfast! I think we offered some reciprocal entertainment for Marv and Laurie that particular morning. :) Oh, and did I mention the yummy homemade cookies and delicious sherry in the evening?? There are also a number of local restaurants who offer freebies if you show them your key. Nice touch! All in all, this is a first class operation....well run, very clean, lovely details, excellent and loving hosts, and a wonderful experience in every way! We would definitely stay there again if we are ever back in that area. read more

We had a wonderful time again! This was our third stay with Marv and Laurie and they did not disappoint! Details of the lovely rooms, delicious food for breakfast, and such hospitality! We enjoyed ourselves so much- we had come to the coast with our kids to ride quads and side by sides and kids went on home. We had supper and decided to see if they could accommodate our spur of the moment decision to stay the night- and could - even providing toothbrushes, toothpaste, and a razor for my husband to shave! read more

I stayed at this bed and breakfast while taking vacation this summer with my family. We've been traveling the west coast from San Francisco to Vancouver and I have to say that Edwin K was one of the best experiences during the vacation. The place is wonderful and charming, and the breakfast prepared from Marv and his wife was definitely worth the long drive from California!!! Definitely one of the best b&b I've been to. Would definitely recommend it for your stay. The place is also in a wonderful location so once you've parked your car, you will be able to walk to old town where you can find stores and a couple of very good restaurants. read more

I had a wonderful, relaxing stay at The Edwin K Bed & Breakfast with a group of friends. The new owners did a great job on a large renovation that upgraded the accommodations while still honoring the vintage aspects of this 1914 Sears Kit Home. Each of the rooms are full suites with new beds, sheets, comforters, etc. with great views of the river and Riverwalk. John & Sarah were fantastic hosts, but the best part of the visit was the 5 star breakfast each morning. Perfect location for a morning / evening walk with great restaurants just a couple blocks away. I highly recommend this unique place for an overnight or extended stay and I'll definitely be visiting again soon! read more

We were traveling the Oregon Coast Highway and needed a place to stay near Florence, Oregon. We walked up to their very quaint 1914 Sears Craftsman Home after driving into the charming heart of Old Florence. We were greeted by Marv - who was warm and friendly and thankfully had a room available for us. Our room was very nice - it was spacious, had a huge shower and outdoor space. I believe it was the Summer Room - which was much bigger than it appears on their website. We were thrilled to have found such a comfy spot to rest our bones after a long day of driving. The breakfast was great. Marv and his wife prepared a separate gluten-free meal for me - which was delicious and much appreciated. Breakfast was relaxed and Marv was a wonderful host. Laura and I are not usually B&B people but if we keep running into a wonderful people like Marv we may be converted completely :) Parking was easy and there are tons of dinner options within walking distance. read more

It's quite the treat to stay in a Sears Robuck craftsman house and realize once you could order such for from $600-$6000 a hundred years ago. Florence has an adorable town area and some good restaurants. The host and hostess here set a beautiful breakfast table with 5 course delicious start to your day and sherry & cookies in the evening. What an excellent little place. My husband and I stopped in here for one night on our way up the OR coast. The house itself is a Sears house, which makes this a neat landmark. Hosts were very kind and very helpful. The room was very spacious and very comfortable. Walking distance to Old Town Florence with multiple shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. The house is right across the street from the river, and we could see the sand dunes from our room. The real treat here is the five course gourmet breakfast, complete with homemade juice, jams and salsa. We had a wonderful time and would return here again! read more

My husband and I stayed at this lovely Bed and Breakfast for our 47th anniversary. It was a delight as were the owners, Marv and Laurie. They made sure that we wanted for nothing. Chocolates were placed in our room as well as in the living room, sherry and fresh homemade cookies were available each afternoon and a fabulous homemade 5 course breakfast was freshly made each morning. This is a 102 year old Sears Craftsman home that has been exquisitely maintained and lovingly cared for by Marv and Laurie. If you are celebrating an event or just want a gracious, warm home to stay in...you simply cannot go wrong with the Edwin K Bed and Breakfast Historical Inn. Excellent B and B. We spent our honeymoon exploring the Oregon coast with no agenda and no set plans. We decided to stay in Florence after a day of exploring Coos Bay and riding ATVs in the dunes. We happened to call this place and luck would have it they had two rooms left. The owner told us to stop by and take a look at the rooms before committing. So glad we did, we ended up in the waterfall room and it was beautiful. Balcony to listen to the waterfall outside our door and a cute room that had such sweet homey touches. Clean room. Amazing double headed shower. Walking distance to old Florence where we had an amazing crab dinner. Best night sleep we had. Also, the next morning we joined the other guests downstairs for an amazing five course breakfast that was so very good and decently healthy too. I would highly suggest this B and B. The owners are amazing, the location is perfect and the B and B is beautiful. read more

The Edwin K Bed and Breakfast is what you would call a classic B & B. It is run by a husband and wife who live on site and do everything from greeting the guests, baking cookies, serving breakfast and cleaning rooms. The exterior is in beautiful shape as well as the interior. It is very clean everywhere you look. I really enjoyed the hospitality of the innkeepers Marv and Laurie. Marv was there to check me in and offered me cookies, sherry and tea. The room upstairs I was in was called "Fall". The bed was comfortable and the room seemed to be very quiet as I did not hear any other guests. Loved not having a TV in the room. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful! 10 guests were seated for breakfast and we had about 5 courses. I wish I could of eaten more because everything was so good but I was getting full fast. I loved the little square scones they had. Another good thing about this B & B is that you can park your car out front and then just walk to dinner or down to where the boats are. If I am ever in Florence again I will definitely stay here! read more

What a delight! We stayed in the Winter Room, which was quite large and had a full queen bed. The "bathroom" was on a raised tile area about 1/4 of the room with a standing claw foot tub/shower. Marv was so welcoming on our arrival! Breakfast was, indeed, a full five courses and was excellent! It was a little carb heavy, so pace yourself early on if you want to try everything. read more

We planned a last-minute getaway to the coast from Central OR for some clean air, due to the poor air quality here from the forest fires. After staying in Cannon Beach & Lincoln City in hotels on the beach, I booked a hotel room that I found on the Internet. For the 1st time ever, after checking in & seeing the room I begged for my money back and then luckily happened on the LOVELY B&B in Florence. From the moment we met Marv we felt welcome. He and Laurie have a beautiful historic home located in a beautiful setting so close by great restaurants, the Siuslaw River & Bridge, a great local coffee shop, cute stores & even a nice local jewelry store! Loved our room and the hospitality!! So comfortable, quiet, and well equipped. We had everything we needed. Their homemade breakfast is the best ever and they go to great lengths to prepare it and serve it beautifully. Might I suggest you two publish a cookbook? Thanks for a great stay.
