When I asked which molé was the least spicy, the server offered to bring me a sample of all three, which was really nice and appreciated. I settled on the mole poblano and got that dish with chicken, which had two thin chicken breasts, rice, and choice of beans. There was one available table that was positioned in a high traffic area, but that didn't affect my ratings, just a disclaimer for those that are curious. Seating is tight, especially when they're busy. Chips and salsa are complimentary and are good enough to charge for if they wanted to. I had the chicken enchiladas with charro beans and the whole thing was delish. I really enjoyed my time here. I went on a Saturday and they had a mariachi have playing which was really a lot is fun, although if you prefer a quieter experience maybe try a weekday. I loved their salsa which was tangy and not spicy at all. For dinner the bartender suggested their mole enchiladas of one chicken, pork, and shrimp each with a different mole, and holy cow they were exceptional. For dessert I had their Quattro Leches cake which was actually wasn't as moist as I'd have liked, but not bad. I give 5 starts because of the fresh margarita, salsa, and enchiladas. We were craving Mexican but wanted to find a place close to Barton Creek. Hecho En Mexico is located in a small shopping center with an urgent care center. We came at 6pm right before the dinner rush and got a table for 5 right away. We were seated and had chips and salsa quickly. The chips were not oily and the salsa was spicy. The ceviche appetizer was great. Entree wise we ordered the sopa azteco (spicy and thick with a chile base), the pork in banana leaf, chile relleno and fajitas for 2. The pork was incredibly tender and well seasoned. We ordered a side of the blue corn tortillas ($2) with the pork and it was so worth it. Hand made and certainly tasted so. I was really excited to try this place out, considering we just moved into the neighborhood. Being a border town gal I fancy authentic Mexican food. It was quite disheartening to experience such slow and painful service. We where greeted and sat immediately, and yes the place was decently full. As a restaurant owner and service industry employee I would assume this is what you are prepared for and wanting. However, our ordered where completely wrong from drinks to food. Not To mention being ignored over asking for more chips and Salas. And on top of this the bill was up charged and wrong. We had to ask why we where being charged for prices that did not match the menu. There are too many good and fair place out in Austin to deal with this place. I moved to southwest Austin recently and was super excited to try this place! My boyfriend and i split the chicken and steak fajitas, which were super good!! My only complaint was the queso... it was basically bland cheese soup.... Love, love, love this small, family owned restaurant. The chef and co-owner, Mario Gonzalez, grew up in San Miguel de Allende, and his menu reflects the interior Mexican cuisine. The menu is extensive, the waitstaff is professional (knowledgeable and friendly), and the acoustics were easy on the ears (a rare experience in this town). Visually, the current Aaron Muguerza exhibit was enchanting (I wanted to buy several pieces). I could tell you all about the incredible food we enjoyed and the fabulous drinks we imbibed, but frankly, the food was so good it's just about indescribable for an amateur foodie such as myself. I just can't say enough good things about this authentic Mexican food restaurant or its delightful staff. This is a favorite of my family of seven to come to for breakfast or supper. I know several of the waiting staff by name and they know what my breakfast order is as soon as I sit down. Always (3) bacon, egg, cheese, and cilantro tacos on flour with an iced tea. The table settings, TV's, and atmosphere are just right. Supper items we really enjoy are their soups, burritos, and enchiladas. They have this giant margarita in a shaker with stainless steel glasses that are salted and garnished with olives. Big enough for two or just yourself if someone else is driving! This is not your run of the mill Tex Mex restaurant in an obscure shopping center. This might be the best Mexican restaurant that I have ever been to. I was visiting some relatives in Austin and they recommended coming here. Now I'm already plotting an excuse to come back the next time I'm in Austin. The food here was excellent and more interesting than your typical tex-mex place. My wife and I split the mole sampler and a salad and we both agreed that the mole was the best we'd ever had. I wanted to mix things up in my line-up of go to Mexican restaurants, so ventured off the beaten path a little bit and wasn't not disappointed by what I found here! Hecho is a little past the Costco shopping center off MoPac, and really out there in the suburbs. A real hidden gem! The interior is pretty small, and there is an outdoor patio area, but this place could get cramped pretty quickly. Not an issue at all when I went, but something to consider if you have a large party of 10 or more. Staff is super friendly and attend to you right away. I had a water with chips/salsa within the first minute of being seated, excellent start! Menu is typical for your standard mexican spot. I started off with the queso, which is more akin to a fondue style, so I would recommend keeping the tortillas they bring with the dish. I made the foolish decision of only using chips. The dip was a little salty, and didn't have as much chorizo as I would have liked, but it was still tasty and probably would have been better for the tortillas. The nachos were superb however. Chips were a little thicker, cheese was melted just right, beans were smooth and savory, and the guacamole was an excellent topper. All in all, a good mix-up to the mexican restaurant rotation I had. Certainly not as flashy as say a Chuys, but that was the appeal that drew me in. It's a quieter place that excels at quality service and food, and doesn't need to tout itself as anything more. I had such high hopes for this restaurant based off their Yelp reviews. So my family and I entered the establishment and were waited to be seated. A middle age women gave us two options to be seated. She sat us. The greeting wasn't anything out of this world but eh. So we sat and then ordered. As we were waiting for our food we noticed that the women who sat us gave us thinly wrapped white napkins silverware and everyone else in the restaurant had yellow cloth wrapped silverware. My family and I just found it odd.. By the way we were the only Hispanic people in the whole restaurant and it was filled. It really upsets me that people are still discriminating till this day. I have never felt so uncomfortable and I had to sit there and eat. I asked one of the workers about it and they actually told me the women who sat me was one of the owners. That surprised me extremely. She also told me usually how the restaurant works is that the white napkins are for children and the yellow are for adults but it was funny because a family sitting next to us had about 5 children at their table, all that had yellow napkins. I'm appalled and I feel bad that my family had to go through feeling uncomfortable while eating. I think it's obvious that I am never returning. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else and they get the FAIR customer service they deserve. read more

Ordered from Uber Eats and the whole thing was inedible. I got the lunch special quesadilla. I cant tell what the soup is but it was very cold and not supposed to be. The quesadilla was also cold, rubbery, and tasted so gross. The piece of cake that came with it is laughably small and also gross. I don't get it, I honestly like everything and never complain about taste but everything was very small and so gross. You can see in the pictures what I ate and the rest is going in the trash. I don't know if I'm more upset about how cold it was, how gross it would have been anyway, or how the dessert that comes with the special is the width of a piece of paper.
