I made the SERIOUS mistake of paying them and allowing them to get away before I took a good look inside my house. To compound things I left that evening for a wedding out of state. When I got back from my trip I was shocked! NOT ONE BED WAS REASSEMBLED, furniture was not in the room I directed them to put it. I have used Hector & Sons many times including referring them to other people. Last time they showed up over two hours late, saying keys were lost to the truck. A year later I used them again. My move was very minimal, just a few pieces of furniture, NO BOXES, just a few pieces of furniture nothing big and bulky (worse was probably a box spring). This was a 1 bedroom move. I told Hector I did not need more than two guys (this time), I know I have moved a lot. He sent 4 guys (this is hourly x 4 guys) AND, they damaged my bedroom furniture and scuffed my newly painted walls. The cost was $700 for a very small move, especially when I have referred them out many times to others. Very disappointed this time and will not be using them again!!! read more

Hector and sons handled my last minute local move into a storage unit and was able to accommodate within a weeks time with my hectic schedule. They were efficient and so quick with my move and I couldn't have been more pleased with their services after having so many bad experiences from previous companies. Hector & Sons helped me move this past Friday and they were seriously THE BEST. If I could give 10 stars, I would! This is what made my experience so great: -The two movers, Ezekial and Jose, arrived on time and were extremely professional -Their truck was clean and contained cloths for wrapping furniture and equipment to help them lift extremely heavy items with ease. -Ezekial and Joe were so polite and worked hard the WHOLE time. They did not stop to take a break. They also weren't afraid to ask questions about whether something what going on the truck, which I appreciated. -My fiance called in advance to see if we could make an additional stop to pick up a furniture item, and they said that was no problem. Jose confirmed the addresses upon arrival, which was great! -All of my personal belongings were wrapped securely to avoid damage. -When we arrived at the final destination, Jose and Ezekial quickly and efficiently unloaded our things, put them in the correct place, and even reassembled the furniture I needed help with. NOTE: Their rate for two men is $90/hr, which is really reasonable and less than the 6 or 7 other moving companies that my fiance and I contacted. The next time I move, I will DEFINITELY be using Hector & Sons. I got the best value for my money, by far, and felt totally safe and secure knowing that Ezekial and Jose were the ones handling and taking care of my things. The positive reviews are absolutely correct. This is the best moving company I have ever used. They responded within about 1 hour on Yelp after I sent in my inquiry. A nice lady called prior to the move to confirm which was comforting. 3 movers showed up with a huge truck. I was moving from a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath so I felt like boxes were everywhere. They quickly moved everything from downstairs onto the truck before proceeding to move the downstairs. They had moving several blankets and dollys. They never seemed to get tired. Then they quickly moved everything to the 4th floor of my new home across town. They were kind. Everything was done in about 4.5 hours so I could start unpacking. I hired Hector and Sons Moving through a moving quote link sent by my apartment complex. First, the quoted rate wasn't what they charged (I just needed a mover at this point, so I didn't argue about it. The movers showed up an hour late in what amounted to a clown car so I had to pay for two moves (to a ONE bedroom apartment). They also damaged two pieces of furniture. Pam reached out to me for feedback, I gave her my feedback, she got defensive and snarky but agreed to a $50 refund. Never got it. Followed up and got a "check's in the mail". The only issue that came up was the team was unable to handle a Peloton tread, so they sent a different team with a lift truck. We just moved to Charlotte from LA and hired Hector and Sons to move us into our new apt. The quote they gave us was just a little cheaper than some of and way cheaper than others, but they were able to accommodate us on short notice. Day of the move: they were able to show up a little early as their previous appointment had finished early and began as soon as they arrived. We had 3 UBoxes parked in front of our building that were packed to the brim. Our apartment was quite a distance away from where the UBoxes were stored, but despite this hurdle they worked without break and finished in just under 3 hours. They never slacked off or "took it easy" - even though they were working on an hourly rate. They really are a family business: of the 3 guys that showed up 2 of them were brothers (Hector's sons) and one was their cousin. Next time we move here in Charlotte we will definitely be calling Hector and Sons! read more

I was very disappointed in this company after receiving a referral from someone. I moved from a house in Raintree to a smaller house in Southpark in mid August. I called to set up the move and spoke to Natalia. She was very responsive, I told them the size of the home, contents, etc. They quoted me $130/hr for 3 guys and they would send their large truck. Day of the move comes and it looks like it is supposed to thunderstorm, I called early in the morning and advised that I could postpone the move 1 day if the rain was going to be an issue. Natalia got back to me and said her boss said it was fine to proceed. The guys show up in the truck, which was supposed to be the largest truck they had. It was quite smaller than other local movers I have used. They take a look at my stuff and right off the bat one of the movers tells me they don't think they can make it all in one trip. I explain to them that I had already told the office the contents over the phone and they were supposed to bring their large truck, the mover became very defensive and said it was their largest truck. I have moved 3 times in the last 3 years and actually had sold quite a bit of the larger furniture right before my move, I have never had to have 2 trips. The mover states they will try their best to fit it all in one trip but I may need to take some items in my car. I am already regretting the choice of mover and concerned about the skyrocketing costs and labor on my part. If I were able to move this myself I would have done it and not hired and paid a moving company. The guys did work hard but it took a great deal longer to load onto the moving truck as they were trying to fit everything in like a puzzle. About an hour into the move, I get a call from the moving company and they told me that they were sending another guy out there to try and beat the thunderstorms. Which is fine but they are charging me an additional $25/hr for this extra person. She tells me that the guy is already on the way there and I would not have to pay extra until he arrived despite this not what I was originally quoted and agreed upon. Even with 4 guys it took much longer than my other moves which in their defense, they had to stop at least 3 times as it was pouring down rain. I called the office again because I did not want to be charged for the down time. I was told I would not be charged for that time. After 7 hrs, when it is finally done one of the movers tells me the total. No invoice or receipt, just him trying to figure it out by writing on a box. I am being charged for the 30 to 45 minutes of time they were not doing anything at all due to rain. The mover starts arguing with me that I am not being charged for that time but their policy is after 15 minutes into an hour I get charged for the full hour. So YES I am being charged for the movers sitting there 3 separate times doing nothing. By the way, the entire time the movers keep asking me for tape to tape the moving blankets together which is something they should have on hand. I was then told I "was lucky because they did not charge me for moving blankets and shrink wrapping some items". That is standard with every moving company I have used in the last 10 yrs. I ended up just paying them because I was exhausted and tired of arguing. I had to make at least 8 trips with my vehicle to get all the rest of the items out of my house. They did not even bring the boxes up from the basement and at least group what was left into one area to easily transport myself. They also damaged/gouged a brand new expensive buffet ,which they did not tell me about, and I did not discover until a day or so after the move. Neither did they hook up my washer/dryer. This was the worst moving experience I have had in the last 20 yrs. read more

Here is where the driver messed up, pull the truck too close to a park car in driveway. You can hear the pulling and scratching of meta, on rear of vehicle passenger sidel. My boyfriend said it was okay, because it was an old vehicle. They distributed items into necessary rooms. Now it is time to pay. Did they consult with office for the mishap? Nope, charged me $300 for 2 1/2 hours of time. I would think, you would cut slack on cost, because we didn't go after your insurance. Not a terrible move, but slighted that they didn't waive something off for the vehicle damage. read more

Luis and Eric were tireless. It was a long hard move and we had a lot of boxes. They were always positive. The downside was the truck was a bit small so there were two trips necessary but at least it was only a crosstown move. I recommend getting more information up front and detailing how much stuff you have first. We moved from a 2-bedroom to a 2-bedroom but weren't asked (other than appliances) what was being moved. It started raining when we were about 75% finished and they stopped unloading the truck...they waited I guess an hour (time we did have to pay for) and then ended up having to unload our stuff in the rain after all, so the hour wasted waiting for the rain to stop was a bummer.
