Upscale steak/seafood place with incredible views of Ontario Lake. HUGE portions. A great place to go for a celebration. The desserts come in giant glass about 1.5 feet tall, the steaks massive, and the atmosphere a good festive place that makes you feel like you are on some nautical adventure. Steaks- must get. We got the rib eye and we got the standard size- 18 oz? It was HUGE. I had to flag the waitress down to makes sure they didn't give us the wrong order due to the size. We had to take it home between 2 people. Luckily we didn't call the 24 oz. That thing would have been about 1 foot across. If you're eating for 1 person, get the 14 oz. that is plenty. the 24 oz can probably feed a family of 4. Appetizers wise, I thought these weren't as impressive as the main courses. you may be ok with not ordering these unless you just want to kill time and have things to graze on. the main portions are already so big that I would save your appetite for that instead. We ordered sriracha apricot duck legs which were ok- just reminded me of some Panda Express Honey chicken dish. The artichokes were also not memorable. Crab cakes were good- definitely get this if you had to get an appetizer. Fresh oysters were fresh. If you're an oyster person, would also get this. Seafood- we ordered the Tuscan seafood pasta. This was actually an ok dish. The seafood was plenty but it was such a large dish with the pasta being a little too overcooked by the time you get 1/3 in that it was kind of a big overwhelming underflavored dish. If you can split it fast among like 3-4 people and eat it fast while hot this may taste better. For 1-2 people it's ok for flavor. We had to to go this dish because it was on a blander in with a LOT of protein Desserts- definitely need to order one of their GIANT sundaes. it's served in a glass wine glass the about 1 foot tall making it impressive in presentation and definitely setting the tone for celebration at your table. Service- attentive and good. Atmosphere- loud and celebratory. Think of nautical ship vibes and drinks galore and large seafood. Come here for sure in a ready mood to go big or go home vibe.

I can't believe it's the first time I've been to Hedges for dinner, but it was our anniversary so I thought it was a special night and a good night to go there! Being that it's a Friday night in the summer, I got a reservation a few days in advance and they had a 7 PM so I took that. They suggested that we come early and sit out on the Adirondack chairs or picnic tables with a drink and enjoy the lake, which we did. It was beautiful. They have a huge bar and there was a band playing nice oldies and blues tunes. We were able to get a table right next to the window, which was nice. I was told that the lobster bisque was something to order so even on a hot summer night, we both ordered it and it was fantastic! So creamy and delicious and with nice chunks of lobster in it. Wifey ordered the Chicken Brittany, which is kind of a thicker version of a chicken French. She really enjoyed that and only was able to eat half of it. I ordered the two pork chops which come with onion rings on top and some apples on the side. It was also really great -nice and juicy. I ended up taking one of the pork chops home for dinner the next night. Despite the place being completely full, it was not overly loud. It was a real pleasant dinner. And as a bonus, my friend Laura was working the bar- which she does on Friday nights. And we had two servers taking care of us - who were both very pleasant and friendly. I highly recommend Hedges for a nice special dinner. We will be back soon!

We had reservations for Saturday @ 6pm. We were seated at our table on the side where you had a bit of a water view. One of the waitresses came over with a basket of bread and our ice waters with lemon. Then our actual waitress came to the table and took our drink & appetizer order. She was cute & nice and very pregnant lol! She came back to the table with our appetizers and then she took our main course orders. I got the Vegetable Risotto to which I loved and my significant other got the Halibut. After a short wait we were served our main course. To which our meals were hot. The ambience was pretty good and it was kind of busy. After our meal we got the chocolate/ peanut butter cake. However, I didn't eat any I was captivated by the sunset which was incredible. So I got a couple inside and then I ran outside and got more pictures. So all in all a great night!

The restaurant has amazing views of Lake Ontario. There's a nice lawn with seating and cute small lighthouses that light up at night. There's plenty of parking here and the restaurant has a nice local vibe. On Friday night, there was a live band. Service was attentive and quick. The Chicken Brittany is their version of the Chicken French. It comes with salad and your choice of starch. This is a very filling meal and I've only had Chicken French one other time and it's definitely unique and was good. Overall a good place to treat yourself and others

Fantastic steak. Ordered the special and suffered from sticker shock once the bill came, should have asked the price

Great food, fun atmosphere, amazing location, unbelievable sunsets. What's not to love about this place?

Super disappointment. Was so looking forward to enjoying a nice dinner. Fridays and Saturdays they do not serve food at the bar. You need a reservation. We were lucky to get a table. Ordered the filet mignon with crab meat and the sea bass. I was never told the sea bass came with Broccoli and I am allergic to it. When it came I told the waitress I was allergic. She just said "oh I didn't know" , she never offered another vegetable or side which was very surprising to me. I transferred the broccoli to my side bread plate and proceeded to try my sea bass. The sea bass was seared , however very cool inside. The outside was not hot either. It was as though it was cooled and sat. Also the broccoli I transferred was cool. The sea bass was not only cool but translucent. I could not enjoy it prepared this way. The steak was shared with me since I was unable to eat mine. First bite was tough and I could not consume it. The bread was very greasy my fingers shined with oil when I picked it up. One of the worst meals I have had. The filet was topped with snow crab which not very expensive and the dish was $90.00. An extreme disappointing meal.

The seafood pasta was okay. It didn't have much flavor at all and almost all the seafood was overcooked. The ambiance here is nice and the service is really good. They have a beautiful outside area and great desserts.

Can't beat the view of the lake during sunset. Fun atmosphere with the piano bar, delicious cocktails and entrees. Family has been coming here for years for special occasions! Came here for my bachelorette dinner and it was so memorable.

If you're looking for a spot to dine on a pleasant day, I would recommend this spot without reservation. It's right on the lake and I felt myself immediately relax into the sunshine and views. If you look at my pics, it looks a bit hazy. Canadian wildfires were causing some smoke and haze but on a brilliant sunshiny day this spot would be outstanding. We arrived around 11:30am and were able to be seated straight away and order. As we sat, the patio definitely began to fill though! For my lunch I got their grilled salmon salad. It comes with grilled salmon over a bed of greens with cucumber, onions, tomato, and mandarin oranges with a side of ranch. All the ingredients were wonderfully fresh. The salad and salmon were basic but solidly good. Our server was friendly and the prices were reasonable.

First, we sat at the bar while we waited what the waitress said was 40 minutes (turned out to me much longer as people were clearly seated before us and came in after us!) The drinks we ordered were good but steeply priced at $12 for a small plastic cup loaded with ice. The bar tender was a little snotty at first but then lightened up and we liked him. Our 40 minute wait turned out to be at least an hour and half. Finally we were seated. We had already decided what we would try for dinner. I chose the coconut shrimp which I always get and love. I ordered it with cole slaw. We told the waiter we wanted separate checks which today with the technology is very easy. My friend ordered the fish fry with rice "pilaf" and coleslaw. We waited a long while for our food. We asked for water and waited at least 20 minutes and even though I asked for lemon and straws none were delivered. Another long wait as I won't drink from the glass directly. Finally got that and another maybe 45 minute wait for our entrees. The plate was bare and overly empty as 6 shrimp lay flat on the plate and a bowl of slaw sat on the other side of the plate. O M G. Have you ever eaten plain shredded cabbage with very watery mayo over it? No flavor at all and no carrots or anything extra just watery , inedible cabbage. Strike one. So I was excited to try the shrimp hoping it tasted much better than it looked. Nope. Cardboard with cooked wheat flour and a piece of coconut here and there enough to attempt to identify it as having coconut. Shrimp was dry as cardboard and tasteless. Not even enough coconut to get stuck in my teeth! The sauce to disguise the horrible flavorless shrimp was horrible so I asked for cocktail sauce which at least added some flavor. We were starving so we ate and did not see our server for at least another 45 minutes or I would have complained. Overall sincerely the worst meal I have EVER had. I would have been happier sacrificing the $32 that this pathetic entree cost by tossing it to the lake gods for offering us a lovely sunset. I won't talk about my friends fish fry. It was soggy and tasteless and the "pilaf" inedible as was the coleslaw. She wasted even more $ on her food (with a dessert) with the very mediocre key lime pie which was promised to be the best in the area. (Another big NOPE). She also had bruschetta which I tried and it was disgusting but again we were starved. I ordered the seafood bisque)we had these while waiting at the bar. The bisque was ok probably from a can and again the wait being so long I would have eaten saltines alone. Overall I can truthfully say for both my friend and I that it was the absolute WORST dining experience of our adult lives. I will NEVER return and will tell EVERYONE I know to stay FAR FAR AWAY!! You can go up on the berm and watch the same sunset. It would have been much more pleasant. Between us we WASTED well over $100. Everything fell wayyyyy short with absolutely nothing at all up to par. "Food" incredibly overpriced and I would not have been happy with my meal at half the price and I speak for my friend as well. Horrible service, horribly crowded, horrible excuse for what they call food. I call it something I would not even give to a pet. Obviously our advice is to find another place to spend all that $. Maybe you will actually be served something edible. Oh yeah and the waiter forgot (in all those hours) to bring separate checks. Lol. What a sad joke the experience was.

Because we've found that this town is a foodie paradise, we love catfish, and we love love blackened catfish. We had Maxie's blackened catfish in a flavorful spicy deep-pink Creole sauce, with maple-braised (!) collard greens, black beans and rice. They were not fooling around. They know their true Cajun seasoning. The oysters at the next table looked great, too, but we had missed the happy hour special. Of course we added an appetizer of fried green tomatoes with a bright somewhat-spicy New Orleans version of remoulade. Any they didn't shortcut the sazerac either: they rinsed the glass with Pernod, and finished it with authentic Peychaud's bitters. Wonderful.

Then we shared a Caesar salad, their fish fry, and their special of the night - pan-seared arctic char (with a creamy tomato sauce with capers, cheesy grits, and garlicy spinach). Before we went there we went to dinner and stopped into Mama Lors Nice little restaurant. Kind of a random location too, but for some reason I liked where it was. Liked the outside of it. Reminded me of like restaurants in old ass buildings down in Staten Island. Spent a lot of time down in the city as a kid (family there) and lots of time on Staten Island. We'd always go to Italian restaurants there (even tho we are all Irish lol). This place kind of reminded me of those restaurants. I know, random thoughts to share, but that's immediately what I thought when I pulled up. It's NOT an Italian restaurant tho. It's American food. Burgers, salads, chicken dinners etc. Food was actually really good. Not too crazy overpriced like majority of restaurants these days...like ones that charge $15 for a plain waffle or something and the waffle is next level basic af. At least I'm not bitter lol But yeah, food was very good. The garlic bread...delicious. I have yet to find garlic bread tho that I don't like. Waitress was suuuuuper nice. Every employee we encountered was very nice. Place is big. Plenty of seating and you're not right on top of each other either. There is outdoor seating as well...pretty sure it was closed when we were there? Could be wrong. However, knowing what the weather right now is like back there...yeah, safe to say outdoor seating closed for the season lol. Restaurant is very clean. Nice floors lol. Random again, but I noticed that the second I walked in. I had neverrrr heard of this place until my friend suggested it. She lives in Chile so she's more familiar with the Rochester area. And Williamson, honestly, I forgot that city/town even existed lol. I didn't do any exploring there tho. The restaurant which is actually in Webster and then we headed to the hayride in Williamson...like 10 mins away. Nice place. I'd 100% go again. I'd also for sure recommend it to anyone..especially if they're looking for a nice restaurant that's not insanely expensive and has a really nice atmosphere AND is in a historic building. Ok so maybe in NY, it's not classified as a "historic building" bc most places in NY are historic. I live in Boise, Idaho tho. We have historic buildings here, but NOTHING like NY has. So when I go to an old building like this....IIIIIII classify it as a historic building haha. Thanks for reading, MamaYelperLor's!!!! Check it out! Support a local business! You'll enjoy it.
