So the wife and I had a nightclub by ourselves as we can always at one of her grandparents and it was a nice night so we wanted to eat outside and we decided to go down to silks.. The experience itself was pretty average server was a very nice young lady who did an okay job. One thing I really appreciated that she did was in a very professional non-obvious way pointed out the cheapness of the restaurant and that they provide potato chips with their overpriced sandwiches. Would have been a little bit better if she did it also advisor said it was $4 to get some french fries with our sandwich but it wasn't nothing. As for the atmosphere it's pretty bare bones what you're really going for is the location it's right on the river where it enters lake Ontario. It's a nice enough spot though It could use some greenery as it's pretty much just a cement block.. The food itself was fine tasting We got mozzarella sticks that were labeled as big mozzarella sticks. They were maybe 5 to 10% larger than a traditional mozzarella stick and tasted fine they tasted like a my throat sick but definitely we're not of unusual size.. Next up we got a chicken bacon wrap that was on the small side tasted okay though potato chips tasted okay. The last thing we got was the shrimp basket with fries both of them were good The shrimp and the fries comes with cocktail sauce. The food was all okay none of it was like oh my gosh we got to bring so and so here to try this but it didn't taste bad It wasn't burnt, it was well cooked. It was very overpriced. And beyond the overpricelessness is that the prices when you arrive are all 30 to 40% more than what they advertise on their website. That's what really kind of frustrated me. You have a nice location If you're going to overcharge for your food just be honest about it so people know what to expect. Things that are posted online for $14 or 18 or $19. The sandwiches are kind of along the lines of what you'd expect 15 to $20 with french fries it's another $4. I don't appreciate being taking advantage of and I don't think most people do. I definitely don't feel like our food was worth $65 but if you're looking for a nice view and you're willing to overpay on food and drinks this is something to keep in mind. read more

An Irish Bar on the opposite side of Charlotte Pier and the Port of Rochester. Beautiful views of the lake and port on the deck. The grilled Chicken Sandwich was good, half a chicken breast with lettuce & tomato on a roll, the Basket of Fries hot and crispy. Mimosas were perfect to sip while watching the Sunset. I sat on the deck area with plenty of tables and chairs, protected from the cool breeze by a tent with window panels that allowed the warm sun in along with the view. Outside the tent there are some chairs to sit at the edge of the water, and on the patio side tables and chairs to sit outdoors. Inside there is the bar, and seating as well. If one is not a Buffalo Bills fan, do not venture here, this is Bill's Mafia enclave, Great place to watch the game. Service was good, although one had to order at the bar if seated in the deck area, since there was no service on the deck (however, my fries were brought to me). What it lacks in atmosphere, it more than makes up for in friendliness to first-time visitors. Both the employees and regulars at the bar made me feel welcome. I ordered both beer and food at the bar. Menu was usual bar food with a good variety. The food was delivered to us at a table when done. We had quesadillas and French dip, both well-prepared. This place is marginal at best. Regular fountain drinks watered down to flavorless. Faux iced tea. Buffalo wings are probably the worst in NY and wings are supposed to be their speciality. Really? The burger was a boxed(from a box) burger, overcooked and with a stale bun. Hand assembled, definitely not from fresh meat. Cole slaw as a side tasted spoiled. All in all, there are definitely better places on the lake and close by. Recommend head elsewhere! read more

My daughters threw me a surprise birthday party here! April 26th of this year. Food was great, service was excellent, drinks good. There is a pool table which the "youngsters" were thrilled with. First off... this is first and foremost a bar, that serves food. Not a restaurant with alcohol. Make sense? That being said, we were in the port area and wanted to try something new for dinner. I've felt bad for Silks for years after two lake floods and a pandemic keeping them shut down. I wanted to give them my business so that they may recover. I did happen to order a beer... I like IPAs on draft and they offered something I hadn't heard of before. It was OK, but not anything I would order again. It would be nice if they had a local microbrew on tap. Most of the menu is as you would expect, "bar food". I ordered a French dip with an appetizer of onion rings. My wife got a taco salad and my mom got Mac salad. My French Dip was supposedly Red Osier roast beef and I must admit it was real good. I didn't touch the pickle or potato chips that came with it. The onion rings portion was HUGE for an appetizer! I ate most of them in lieu of the potato chips and my mom had a few as well. Very crispy and great tasting. My wife's taco salad had a very nice presentation but an average taste; made up by a large portion size. My mom is elderly and has a reduced size stomach, so it's normal for her to order something like a side of Mac and Cheese or in this case, Macaroni Salad. Again, generous portion but fairly bland to my taste. I would add a little seasoning salt or celery salt. Remember, this is a bar and that's the primary atmosphere. Although the riverside view is killer. Honestly, everything else could be pure crap and this place would still get 3-stars for its location and view. Considering that we'd normally do something like Bill Grays or Schallers on a lake trip like this, Silk O'Loughlins is a worthy alternative and worthy the drive over the River to Summerville. I am reviewing the newly reopened deck at Silk O'Loughlin's bar and restaurant. They poured a concrete deck along the river and it is awesome! It replaced the wood deck. They have hung some outdoor string lighting which brightens up the place a little bit. The food is pretty much the same as before - great wings and burgers etc. I had the O's burger today with hot sauce - fantastic! And I washed it down with an Everyman IPA from Stoneyard Brewing. A good choice. The bar was filled with regulars who were just waiting for them to re-open for the summer. Come on down and check out the newly reopened Olies! read more

Service was slow. Food was over cooked. Sandwiches and burgers came with cheap bagged crinkled chips. We asked to upgrade to fries and told there are no substitutions and had to pay $5.50 for a basket. An extra $4.32 service charge was added to b$132 bill without explanation. We had not been here in years given how difficult it is to get a table outside when the weather is good. Last year they were closed due to flooding so I am sure they are trying to make up for the lost summer. On a cool week night after our volleyball game we figured it would be easier to get a table and it was. The wings I ordered were good but I know some who ordered the burritos said they were just OK and not as good as they remembered in the past. For it not being that crowded the service was a bit slow. Summary: Rude dive bar with a long wait when theres only one order My friend hyped this as a local diner, but it's a bar. We went around 2 PM (opened at noon) to find one person there, a bartender. The kitchen does not open until 5 in the off season, the bartender told us 4. We came back around 4:30, to a sucks-to-suck attitude from the same bartender that we had to wait more. My friend was still set on eating there, so we waited. The cooks were doing prep when we came in, so it was surprising how long it took to get our food, which we ordered at the kitchen window because there was no waitress. One "meal" (3 tenders for a inproportionate large price) came with hair. The only good thing about the visit was how they replaced the food. No discount or refund, just replaced. The new chicken tenders were out by the time the other two had eaten, and we never got drinks. read more

The food here was excellent. Tyler Phillips and Connor Shafer and Tucker Velepec, these cooks there with great personality had made and served our food. Connor took his time and prepared the Garlic Parm wings to perfection while Tyler made a great Philly Beef. Tucker is the best fish maker on Friday's ever. I wish I knew when these excellent three young men work because I would come here everytime. On the other hand, Jeff Monaco has been a brutal cook in the kitchen for many years and does not understand how to cook in a kitchen. We were so happy to pull up by boat on Tuesday and have some drinks with friends. We were greeted by a VERY polite server asking if we had masks with us or if we needed them. Stopped there today for lunch. I have always enjoyed being there. There were 5 of us. When we arrived we were not greeted and had to ask if we could be seated. We were told we could sit wherever we wanted.after being seated we we're not waited on. Waitress walked by us at least 2 times. We finally went to the bar and ordered our own drinks. A friend and I came on a beautiful, warm Autumn afternoon today at 2 pm. (Sunday, October 9, 2011). We asked the waitress on the deck if there was waitress service. She said that there was and to sit anywhere. We indicated which table we would be at. She said she'd be right over with menus. Fifteen minutes later, I got up and found some menus. Ten minutes after that, we got up and left. The waitress (or the second waitress) never looked at or approached our table. The deck was fairly busy, but there is no excuse whatsoever for leaving a table un-approached for close to half an hour. We didn't make a huge deal of it, as my friend was unimpressed with the menu. read more

The food is mediocre at best. I ordered the garlic parm wings which came out dry and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Any time I've ordered garlic Parmesan wings anywhere else, they came out covered with a lovely sauce, never dry and tasteless like these. The shrimp and fries plate had frozen breaded shrimp which had more breading than shrimp. Our waitress looked very anxious to get us up and out and kept offering to take our plates even though the four of us were still eating and still ordering drinks. I was the only one drinking soda, and I agree with the review from Jamie M. They should offer free refills on soda. And there's at least one waitress who should learn how to treat patrons. read more

This is not a favorite for me. Ice tea was over sweet with a bitter flavor to it. I ordered the Italian sausage with peppers and onions the flavor was good but extremely greasy and I used at least 30 napkins to blot off much of the grease. My husband ordered the bbq chicken tenders and the y were overly fried. We also ordered the onions rings that also was overly greasy. We both usually enjoy fried foods but this was over the top. Decent food...one step above bar food with a reasonably priced menu considering the great location they have right on the water. Besides Marge's, this is my favorite place to have a drink and sit on the water. The atmosphere is laid-back but not over-the-top trashy, it's sort of hidden, the food is alright and they have a good Guinness! You can even take your Guinness down to the dock and sit right on the water and pretend that the world doesn't exist. Service is friendly, regulars are friendly and there's ample parking (although sometimes it really fills up). O'Loughlin's is a winner in my book. read more

When Summer does arrive in Rochester, there's no nicer place to be than on a deck overlooking the water and this spot is that place....Friendly staff, great food and wonderful views....The only downside in my opinion is the parking which can be tight if found at all, but that's hit or miss....A casual spot with a bar menu you might expect, nothing fancy....WARNING: Just outside of the bar is a sheriff station and so be aware before you leave, not that you should be drinking and driving anyway, but buzzed driving is drunk driving so....That being said, go and enjoy the Summer on the deck and take in the wonderful sunshine.... read more

On April 29, the Olies Team did an AWESOME job for the 50th birthday party I planned. The food was amazing, from ribs, pulled pork, turkey, wings (best in Rochester), chili and so much more. The bartenders were awesome especially for the crowd that was there. I never had to worry about anything, the entire team was there and everyone had a great time. Even when you go down on a Sunday, especially for the Bills game or just to stop in to have a burger, every time you go in they make you feel welcome and the food is always awesome. This is the first time in three and a half years of organizing dinners with "The Rochester Singles Meetup Group" that I've felt compelled to negatively rate a venue... We have been enjoying O'Loughlins several times a year until now. A request of separate checks for a group of 28 (in effort to benefit the waitress with larger tips by avoiding confusion of who owed what) was answered by the waitress as a 4 persons minimum per check per table, which we graciously accepted. The waitress did a reasonable job serving our group, but the new manager who is leasing the business became involved with the checks and wouldn't let her give 4 persons per table but literally brought one check for the group to us himself... He then asked, not the person that made the request, but the person that helped our waitress understand that she would get more tips that way to leave the premises... Imagine this, we tried to get more money into the pocket of the waitress without affecting the orders or price in any way and then were asked to leave because we cared about our waitress getting tips? I feel bad that such an awesome location has been turned to rubble by a man with out a mind for success. read more
