They close at 6 and I asked them if I could come by 4:45? Sure! Their waiting room is nice and clean with a coffee machine and water cooler. So they started working on the car immediately and told me that my car recommendations are synthetic oil, more expensive than regular. I asked them how much? They said $92 and I could change the oil every 5,000 miles instead of 3,000 if I bought the regular. They also said they can use regular oil which would not really make a difference, that's all they had to do was change the viscosity and that would be $52. I decided to go with my car recommendation and chose the $92. After a half hour it was done. Total price $92. That included oil change oil filter change to off all fluids and put air in all 4 tires because the low tire light was on. They said I didn't need to change my air filter because it was fine. Honesty is very important to me and I was impressed they didn't change the air filter when it didn't need to be changed. I think most other places would have. I will be in 5000 miles for sure!! They didn't charge me anything for the diagnostic, and they were right--once I got the oil changed, the check engine light never came back. The second time, I brought my car in for a different issue. They were thorough, completed the work in a timely manner, and charged a fair price. About a month later, I started experiencing similar symptoms again, so I brought it back. They dug a little deeper and discovered a nest inside the system that was blocking the drain. They spent over an hour fixing the problem, getting completely soaked in the process. When it was time to pay, they told me there was no charge because they considered it related to the previous repair. I can't say enough good things about this company. I paid for the "inspection" but sat in the front waiting area, packing up work items I'd brought in with me to do while waiting. Two other customers after me were called to the front counter, and both were told their cars failed inspections due to the exact same problem as my car allegedly has. None of our cars was put on a lift. Never underestimate the public's observations and intelligence: this place is a con artist's wet dream. I've been a customer of the Jiffy Lube in Westminster for years, but they've gone so far downhill…read moreover the past 2 years or so that after my last experience I vowed I was done with them. I was happy to see this Valvoline open up just down the street from them and figured I'd give them a try. We pulled up and literally all bays were open, so no wait whatsoever - sweet! You stay in the car while they change your oil, and they ask you the standard questions about whether your wipers are working well, whether you want them to replace your cabin or engine air filters, etc., while checking your lights and tire pressure as well. In the end the cost for just an oil change (oil and oil filter) was just over $100 - ouch! I was hoping they would be a bit cheaper than Jiffy Lube, at least initially, but to me this is a price that will have me just changing my own oil next time it's due; 5q of 0W-16 oil is about $25 and the oil filter is about $10, so for $35-$40 dollars it's a no-brainer. I also noticed that the 'next oil change' sticker was set to 3,000 miles beyond my current odometer reading, which is 100% incorrect. The proper recommended spacing for oil changes with my 2023 Toyota Corolla is 10,000 miles, so either they can't be bothered to check and see what the correct, manufacturer recommendation is for oil changes on various vehicles or they're just intentionally misleading people. Not a good feeling. Overall they're quick and pleasant, so if you don't mind paying a ton of overhead for a task you can pretty easily do yourself, if nothing else they're a step WAY above the Jiffy Lube.
