I lived in COS for 3 years and had four tattoos done right here at Heebee Jeebee's. The shop is clean and cared for. Chris is my favorite artist. I sat with him three separate times for my detailed, gorgeous thigh piece. He did a phenomenal job. On top of being ridiculously good, he's also super chill to sit with for hours at a time. I sat three times on my thigh (2hrs each time) and also had him do a rib tattoo for me. Every time he was professional, cool, and easy going. He's great at his job and incorporated everything I wanted into my thigh tattoo. Pro tip: they offer numbing cream. You can buy it by the tube or (if you're super cool) they will just apply some to your body before the tattoo for free. Cream has to go on and sit for about half an hour before the tattoo gets started so let them know ahead of time that you want it and you're going to show up early for it. After you get done getting poked, head to the joint right down the street and grab a super delicious taco! (Nom!) There are some things I wish they'd change. I loved that they had such an open space in their studio; fluid space, no big walls for the most part. I love the feeling of community, however, it also leaves you pretty exposed to anyone who walks past their large sun drenched windows and anyone who happens to walk in the front door. If you're in the middle of getting inked and your shorts are pulled really high or your shirt is pulled up, everyone will see it. Not so fun. Either way, they get a raving five stars from me. Rick worked some kind of magic on my floral piece and I left with something way cooler than I imagined. He turned a pretty standard flower request into something so cool and beautiful, I want to stare at it forever. My daughter also got her first tattoo (shoutout to Rachel!), so naturally, she was nervous and bracing for pain. But the whole team was so sweet and chill, they hyped her up like the rockstar she is and made her feel so comfortable. Seriously, the vibes were immaculate (her words). My regular tattoo artist rescheduled me today due to an emergency so I searched for a walk in place with good reviews and also saw the photos from their Facebook page and was impressed with the quality. Today is my Dad's birthday and I was set on forget-me-not flower but after showing them the one I wanted they said it would take two to three hours. I really wanted to be in and out within one hour due to needing to get to my work. Erik, the artist who worked with me today, came back and showed me that April's birth flower is a daisy and asked how I felt about that one instead. I love that he suggested an idea that was perfectly meaningful too. I went with the daisy and was blown away how detailed he went into it and was not heavy handed when doing it. At the beginning of last year, I really wanted to start my sleeve journey and add to it randomly throughout the year. I did a ton of research to find someone in the Springs who would be able to flip my ideas into their own style and create something rad for me each time, all while advising what would work best and what wouldn't. My sister and I wanted to get tattoos for my 30th bday and she had gotten her first tattoo here. We set up an appointment for 12:30. Something to note is that if you make an appointment there is a deposit required. Because our planned tattoos were only going to be the minimum of $100 the shop required that our deposit be the full amount of the tattoo. I had asked if for any reason we had to cancel or reschedule what the policy on the deposit was. I was told that even with any amount of advanced notice there was no refund of a deposit and that it could be rescheduled and credited within 30 days. This made me a bit anxious since I was flying into town and I didn't expect any problems, but thought that it was an interesting policy. Totally could understand a 24-72 hours notice or something like that. When we got to the shop they were very friendly and confirmed the previously emailed design. We waited for about 45 minutes though to get in the chair which we were unsure why since no one else was there. Cucuy did an amazing job and was so kind and friendly. I am very happy with my tattoo and the experience that he provided. The rest of the experience was just kind of odd, but I still felt pleased with the appointment read more

Keeping it brief: Excellent shop, extremely welcoming people, clean as can be, stylish, comfortable vibe, good music, and excellent artists from what I've seen (worked with Rae my first time but all of the portfolios were quite amazing). The long of it: John was the reason I took the time to look in to the shop. He answered all of my tedious questions (I am used to Southern California shops which can be either great or fairly sketchy but in both cases, most seem to show very little customer service). Seriously, the dude (John) responds in no time at all, he's courteous, and--where many shops fail--actually sends back an informed, customer-oriented correspondence. Well done. Karen is equally friendly, talented in the work I've seen, and gave me an honest opinion on my piece when I was going back and forth on sizing, etc. to leave enough space to work with later; balanced chick and as I understand she does some charitable work for breast cancer victims. Finally, Rae did a killer job on detail even when I decided to compromise on the size a bit. She's kickass with a great deal of talent, a sense of humor, and makes you feel right at home in the shop. 5 stars, no doubt. Note: This was not my first tattoo but it was my first piece in Colorado and at this shop. I was looking for some tattoos to cover up some scars I had and found Heebee Jeebees. The staff there is professional, courteous, and polite. E was my artist. I came in last Tuesday: December 8th, 2015 and was greeted as I came in the door. I explained to E what I had in mind and showed him a ton of pictures, and told him that I was looking to get 4 tattoos total: 2 at a time. He set up an appointment for me on Friday, December 11th and set to work. He sent me some colored sketches of the two tattoos I wanted and asked me what I thought. I came in for my appointment and everything was ready and set up: the transfer images were cut and all ready to go, the guns were set up, the chair had been cleaned and covered: he was just as ready as I was to get started. When I first got there, he put some Lidocain lotion on the areas to be tattooed to alleviate some of the discomfort and then took me through the formalities of the waiver and the id. E worked on me for 6 hours straight and never needed a break: he is a true artist, once he is in the zone, he just goes for it! These were not my first tattoos, but they are definitely the first pieces of art that I have received. E asked me if I needed a break and if I was comfortable and took into stride when I moved a little and when I inhaled and exhaled (as he was tattooing my ribs). The price was incredibly low: he quoted it for $500 and that is a steal for the art I received. I gladly gave him a hefty tip. The studio is a comfortable size and clean and sterile and you can just smell the alcohol used to sanitize everything. The music is pleasant and the other artists there working talked to their canvases as well as the other patrons in the shop. Truly the best tattooing experience I have had and will definitely be coming here for all my future installments. I just wish I had more friends to recommend this place to! And E texted me after I left the shop requesting I come in once it healed so he could see if it needed any touch up or if I wasn't completely satisfied and wanted more work done on the pieces: free of charge. My experience getting tattooed by Kenny McCarthy was simply not ideal. In case a potential client would value hearing this information in determining if they desire him as an artist, here's what went wrong... 1. Despite having a couple conversations (one in person and one via email in which a sketch and a real photo for reference was shared) that made me feel confident my wishes were understood, I was told in the moments before getting the work done he 'just wouldn't be giving me a good tattoo' in response to every basic request I had that matched the idea I always tried to convey: Any thin simplistic white highlighting I wanted? 'no, i wouldn't be giving you a good tattoo'. Any basic finer detail added to the image I was getting to make it resemble the individuals more ('indicate this is hair, how about an ear)?' Same response And also 'there's no space for that'. Any addition of color at all (i made it clear i wanted color initially)? Same response. I ended up settling for a basic silhouette piece that was so far from what had been discussed all along. That is my own regret but it was an experience of gaslighting - he complimented all my ideas initially and said all were possible and then was willing to do the absolute bare minimum. I was completely mislead And what he was willing to do was based on his desires alone and not at all doing what the client wishes for. 2. He was rude and egotistical. I waited over an hour from the start of the appointment time as I watched him get distracted with several side conversations during which he was not prepping - all right in front of me. 3. I waited until the space healed and immediately when able, I got the tattoo redone by an artist elsewhere who executed all the simplistic detail and color I asked for with no hesitance or denial the work could be done. read more

Was looking for a place to get a large (half body practically) custom tattoo completed. I had looked at a few places and then my other half and I went a couple more. We found Heebee Jeebees Studio and went in to check them out. The first thing I noticed was how clean, bright and welcoming the interior was. This was a nice change from the darker, danker looking shops that abound in the area. The next good surprise was we were greeted instantly by Karen - who we later found out is the owner of the studio. She was very welcoming and when I described my idea to her, she immediately helped me form a more complete picture of what I needed. I had expected to have to wait for an appointment to begin, but Karen asked that we give her an hour to work up some preliminary sketches for the tattoo and come on back to begin. During my first session (as it will probably be many before the tatoo is done) Karen and the other people at the studio made me and my partner comfortable and welcomed. Karen worked with me to make sure I was comfortable and ready to continue as we worked on getting the lining and shading in the first part of the piece. The other great thing was the price. I am very happy seeing part of my piece completed in better detail than I imagined and the hourly change was extremely reasonable compared to other shops in the area. The shop does not limit the art style and is very open to helping get your custom design fleshed out (no pun intended). Flash tats are also welcomed and they have many to browse through. If your loooking for a tattoo that you will be proud to show off at a reasonable cost, stop in and see any of the people here. They'll take good care of you! read more

Fantastic tattoo parlor! I have never had a tattoo, but I decided to get permanent eyeliner done for the first time at Heebee Jeebees Studio. The owner, Karen, has been doing permanent makeup, including eyeliner tattoos, for 19 years! Of course, she doesn't do permanent eyeliner every single day, probably every couple of days or every other day. Anyway, she's good. She's really good! I would say that she's the best in Colorado Springs, possibly in all of Colorado. I asked her why she doesn't have permanent eyeliner done, and she told me that it's because she hasn't found anyone else that she trusts well-enough in the Colorado Springs area to do her eyeliner since she can't do it herself (she's done all of her other tattoos, except for that). She used lidocaine numbing cream on my eyes, which made the pain minimal (it kind of felt like slightly pinchy "butterfly kisses" on my eyelids, if that makes sense). If you have done any research on permanent eyeliner, you have probably come across people recommending lidocaine numbing cream over numbing shots on the eyes because the numbing shots can cause swelling and bruising before the tattoo is even placed on the eyelids, which means the results can be uneven and less than satisfactory. Anyway, I just love my permanent eyeliner. Touch-ups are free (included in the price). It's so worth it! read more

Unprofessional tattoo shop! I called asking about a walk in, so they told me they would schedule me at 4. So I get there 30 minutes early and they have me wait 4 hours, while there was two free artists available. One of them even tried to skip me and help someone who showed up after I did for a walk in as well. Then finally after they get done smoking cigarettes, eating pizza and having a great time they decided to take me. When I told the guy what I wanted they referred to it as a Pinterest tattoo. Like yo that may not be your style but don't disrespect someone like that. So he finally gets the stencil done and he finishes it with the same needle he started with, didn't shade it just use the same needle to fill in the blanks. Like shading with a led pencil. So now I have spotted shading. And the line work is horrible. Trust me I'm not over exaggerating. This is going to be on me for life, now I have to find a real artist to fix it. It's not until my tattoo started to heal and peel that I realized what a bad job he had done. Anyway when I called and asked about prices they told me "$60 for under an hour and $120 for an hour". So he got done in 30 minutes and I'm thinking he did a good job, because the fresh ink is hiding the bad shading and we talk price he says 100 bucks and not wanting to argue I just gave him 100 and a 40 dollar tip. Now usually after you are done they Saran Wrap it but nope he says okay have a good day. He obviously did not care how the tattoo turned out. Please go somewhere else. So after I posted this above on google ^ they had the nerve to send this on Facebook Copied and pasted for you "Dude your crap review of my shop on google was unwarranted. You are so ignorant- the "two other artists" were the receptionist and the apprentice- two people that were not capable of tattooing you. 2nd- calling in and asking for available time without a deposit is really not a guarantee. We try to accommodate as much as we can because our time is valuable as well. Fresh ink doesn't hide anything- heal and peel sounds like you took subpar care of your fresh tattoo which is your responsibility not the artist. And last we us a product called skinlock which is a product that is put over the fresh tattoo and makes the use of a bandage obsolete. Also using Saran Wrap is not approved to use by the health department as it traps in bacteria and germs. I would like to see a picture of this tattoo healed please. This is a bit of a long review, but I think it is worth it! My artist is Bill Folks. Bill is a fantastic and inspiring artist and a complete professional. This was actually the second time that Bill has worked with me. The backstory: I am a two-time breast cancer survivor. I had never had a tattoo before this year (I am in my early 50s). Bill volunteered his time and immense talent to P.Ink Day (http://p-ink.org/)--an organization that provides resources to women seeking mastectomy scar cover tattoos. Each year, they also provide a limited number of free tattoos. Bill did mine in Boulder in 2017. Bill spent a lot of time before and during the event to make sure I got the dream tattoo I had imagined for years. He took my ideas and made them even better! He really listens and is tremendously caring and generous. That first tattoo took five hours and I LOVED it! Because of the time constraints, Bill couldn't put in all the detail he wanted, but to be honest, I would have been thrilled to have the tattoo stay the way it was for the rest of my life. Still, since I have family in Colorado (I live in Indiana now), I asked Bill about adding some detail during the Christmas holidays. My husband and I showed up in the shop and felt like we were visiting old friends. Heebee Jeebees is clean, warm, and welcoming. The artists are friendly and professional. Another person was getting an arm tattoo and while I was there, another person walked in for an estimate and appointment. Both were treated with respect and helped quickly. Bill's updates to his work are gorgeous and seamless. I had to look at previous photos to be able to tell what had been added on. Bill kept me calm and laughing (most of the time--even though I did a lot of swearing)--not an easy task since he was working almost entirely on my sternum (hurts ALOT!) My husband sat there watching and was blown away--in fact, my husband plans on getting his first tattoo from Bill on our next trip back to Colorado! I highly recommend Bill for a tattoo that you will love. He will listen, give you what you want and make it better! He is not just an artist, he loves the history and craft of tattooing. Not so happy... I went in with a friend to get a spur-of-the-moment tattoo. We waited a good while for the sketches, but whatever, we sprung our ideas on them. I'll be understanding about that. My problem here is pricing. My 2-inch tattoo was quoted $60 and her 12-inch tattoo was quoted $140. Fine. I can live with those prices. At the end of my session I was charged $100 and an hour later, when her piece was finally finished, she was also charged $100. Why on earth was I charged so much in comparison?? don't get me wrong, I love the piece, but it definitely wasn't worth $100. Especially in comparison to her "$100 tattoo." So mad. read more

I wanted to get a unique piece with a huge meaning behind it; I looked over a few reviews of different spots and decided to go ahead and set an appointment. From the moment I emailed John he was very helpful. I was very excited to come in to get my tattoo. On the day of the appointment I arrived 10min prior to fill out any paperwork and I was not happy to know the artist wasn't finished with another client. I waited over an hour after my set appointment, before we got ready. Once John was done with the other client he got started and I have to say for my fifth tattoo this was the best experience ( to exclude the wait) he was very polite, the tattoo didn't hurt as bad or so I thought and he was very considerate of how I was feeling in between the sessions. After an hour he was complete with the piece and I couldn't be happier, it resembles everything I wanted and more.
