Arrived at heel and shoe to grab a pair of classic black vans... the moment i walked in notice a lady who looked directly at me and rudely stated she would get someone to help me, after she walked away in a hurry, there was another woman approaching me. Her name was Emily. I requested the lady name who had just rudely dismissed me as if I wasn't a customer... she did not greet me. She did not say hi. She didn't have a smile on her face. Nothing. needless to say her name was Adriana. Not sure if she was having a bad day but the way she treated me was honestly disgusting and it left a bad impression on the store as a whole. I've been shopping here since it was called In Step Shoes and located on East Avenue next to Albertson's, which is now Save Mart. How am I just now writing a review? Some days I love this place, and some days I just can't find what I'm looking for. The selection ranges from top of the line to fast fashion. I've gotta give them kudos, though, because I like that they don't seem to mind bringing out a whole bunch of boxes of shoes for my kids to try on (like a lot of boxes), and they're friendly and willing to joke a bit at the register. What fun is a store where the salesperson silently rings you up and hands you a receipt? You don't just come to Heel & Sole for the shoes. You come for the experience. The chance to find something unique like a pair of tie dye New Balance sneakers and the sheer selection ... Give me all the choices of boots. Dazzle me with all the strappy heels. I found out about this place from the lovely Erin B. who stumbled upon this place one day. She loved it so much, she gifted me a certificate to go shoe shopping for my birthday. I arrived and was instantly overwhelmed by the amount of shoes, but it seems that the organize the store by type of shoe so I found what I was looking for - sandals. The prices were very reasonable and I was able to find two pairs that I liked. I checked in on yelp and got an discount on top of what I thought was already inexpensive shoes and once I applied my $40 gift certificate, I ended up paying like .49 cents out of pocket for two pairs of nice dressy sandals. Yes, it's a face cover, that's the point, and no I have no intension of stealing your shoes. I would have bought more of your over priced shoes if you got off of my back. I went into find boots for a wedding, and when I was purchasing them, I asked about the return policy that they had. I was told I had 60 days to bring in unworn shoes. I got home, tried them on and realized they weren't going to work with my outfit. Went to return them and was told they only give store credit, they need to learn to train their employees to let the consumer know that the only form of return is store credit. I specifically asked about the return policy and they happen to just leave out the part that you only get store credit. Super disappointed. read more

I took my mother to look at shoes today. She's in a wheelchair and we asked where the restroom was. We were told they don't have a public restroom (due to covid ) and suggested we go to Safeway next door. Apparently covid isn't in Safeway's restroom. I find it ironic that a little store like that won't let you use their restroom and send you next door to a large market. I also find it ironic that they will gladly take your $65 for a pair of shoes but won't let you use their facilities. We came home and bought shoes online. read more

The one employee we were able to locate had a mask on, but it was clear that mask wearing is not enforced here. The way it works with tracking down an employee is pretty insane, though. I was visiting my cousin in Chico last month. She knows I LOVE heels and told me she was taking me to a store I would LOVE. We walked in and I thought she had lost her mind! Then we walked toward the back and all if a sudden it was high heel heaven!!!! I finally got some Toy Story vans and they were less expensive than at any other shoe stores I've been to. They were on sale and Heel and Sole offers a 15% off coupon for checking in on Yelp. Every time I have been to Heel and Sole, I find exactly what I am looking for and a few extra pairs of shoes that I didn't even know I needed. This trip was no exception. I was offered assistance after just being in the store for 3 minutes. The guy saw that I found the shoes I needed and asked me my size and came back just 1 minute later with the correct pair. He was really friendly and didn't seem bothered that my girlfriend and I kept finding shoes we wanted to try on. He was also very knowledgeable about their inventory and was able to recommend a pair of shoes based on my needs. On my way out, I found a pair of hemp shoes I had to have. They were rather pricey but was able to save a bit with the 15% off coupon. I recommend this store to anyone in need of a pair of shoes for any occasion, from hiking to ball room dancing, they have it all. read more

August 10, 2016 After buying shoes in this store for years, I am appalled. My friend has a small toy service dog, it is properly tagged, legal in every way as a certified service companion. This little dog was sitting quietly in my lap ( I am 70 years old) my friend was about to purchase 3 or 4 pairs of shoes. To my dismay, while sitting on the side, some clerk came to me and said you cannot have that dog in the store. I showed this gal the tag (ID as a service Dog) She demanded that this dog must have a full vest which is nonsense especially in this heat. I told her again, this is a tagged service dog, I even have medical documentation in the car. which we have never been asked to present because it is against the law for some clerk to ask someone for medical details. I would say to people never support any store that is hostel to people with disabilities. Never ! I hope that after I file more complaints and as more review get published that being dumb to customers who are not bothering anyone. Is going to cost you. I know the laws and this worker person was rude, improperly trained and this shop should be shut down. This rude clerk demanded that I leave. Again after I told her this Dog is covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act and it is a legal service Dog. This is not a food store or any delicate place. She was wrong. She said you must go so we did. I will file a complaint with the BBB and under the Americans Disabilities consider more action. Stupid people will loose our business forever. Came in here when I was in Chico visiting my sister last weekend. I was super overwhelmed when we walked in--shoes EVERYWHERE. Literally, floor-to-ceiling shoes. Expensive, inexpensive, sandals, boots, flats, heels, tennis shoes, they have everything. I ended up buying a pair of random-brand boots for about $40--can't beat that. I'm sure they won't last longer than a season, but that's not expected. Minus one star for the associate who looked at me with a shoe in my hand three times before offering to pull a size for me. This place is freakin' mess. They have boxes of shoes towering up the length of the walls and even stuffed in the rafters. But, I must admit they have the best prices in town. I try not to stay too long. They have such a large selection in such a cramped and messy space that it can sometimes make me nauseous to be in there too long. The staff is pretty attentive, but it can be hard to spot someone through the walls of shoes. I wish it was a little cleaner and more organized but you can't beat the selection or the price anywhere in town. read more

Wow there really is such thing as a shoe heaven. They have about 95% of every brand and style of shoe that's ever been made. You can't not find what you're looking for when you walk in. Everything from Steve Madden to Vans to Uggs to Sketchers to Soda-even Crocs now. Pretty great prices too. You can always find something in your price range that you like. Big brand shoes that have pretty standard prices-Chuck Taylors, Vans, Sperrys, Flojos-tend to run a bit cheaper here even. I've always had great customer service, even during busy days. The young guy who works here sometimes is kinda lame but that's the only not great experience I have here. Even when I had a pair of shoes fall apart a week after I had bought them they were very apologetic and helped me find another pair of shoes. However I would not come in if you're claustrophobic. You'll have a full on panic attack if you take more than five steps into the store. read more

I have walked into this store probably 6 times and never did walk out with anything. They said they carried size 5 1/2 in sandals and every time I grabbed a sandal and asked for that size they look at me before they would check and say they don't have any. I probably picked up about 5 sandals and all the employees just did the same thing.
