This was our first time doing these type of photos and overall experience exceeded our expectations. We just had to show up with the baby and she took care of everything. I will break down for you why Nieshka is awesome and what I learned about newborn photography... 1) Styling skills: She has a great collection of all different fabrics, headbands, beds, baskets, props etc. You can tell she spends time thinking about these items and sourcing them from all over the world. I picked out 3 fabrics and 2 artificial plants I liked and based on that she was able to style the entire shoot, giving me just the right number of options (usually 2) so it was not overwhelming. 2) Newborn skills: She knows how to handle babies, get them to sleep and also wrap them in different fabrics while keeping them asleep. Anyone who has swaddled a baby while trying to keep them sleeping can appreciate this is not any easy task. She was also very conscious of cleanliness 3) Photography skills: She is taking photos in her studio and works to get the best pictures, including adjusting the baby (literally the way the baby's mouth was open). Also our baby was at the height of her baby acne. So many pimples on one eyelid I could not count them all! But I had no idea that Nieshka could magically edit the photos to provide me both the real and airbrushed skin versions. 4) Client service: Her process is easy and clearly communicated through email. Everything was on time and easy to access/download through the gallery site provided. We love having these special photos to share with our friends and family.

Plus we had just partied for three days with out friends at our family beach house in Moss Landing so I was super tired! To top it off, the weather on the afternoon of our shoot was unforgiving. When Rachel arrived we sort of rushed her through our session because we all wanted to get back home to the Bay. I figured we wouldn't get a lot of good shots but if we got at least a few it wouldn't be wasted effort. She was gracious and patient and gave us just the right amount of direction that we needed since my husband and I feel super awkward in front of the camera. But I was…read moreappalled and disgusted by the professionalism and lack of responsibility from his Assistant/Business coordinator. We called and had her pencil us in for our wedding date. She said that we were the first ones to inquire about that date but should someone else also inquire about the date, we would need to commit to putting down a deposit or risk loosing the reservation. (Totally normal and reasonable.) She called and said there were a few others that mentioned some interest but no one was ready to put down a deposit. We made it clear we were 99% sure we want to book him but was waiting to chat with him briefly on the phone. She said he takes Mondays/Tuesdays off and wouldn't be able to chat. In my mind, I had just one thing I wanted to ask him (really just wanted to get a good vibe from him so I can put the deposit down with a settled mind). Again, she assured us that if someone came in with the deposit, she would come to us first and we can choose to forgo it or put a deposit down ourselves. Well, she basically lied to us. She strung us along and then bold faced lied. She cowardly sent an email saying sorry but she booked our date with someone and they put a deposit down and basically we're SOL. Leaving us scrambling for a new photographer and going back on her word and everything she said. We picked up the phone immediately and said "hey wait, we'll put the deposit down if that's what you need?" and her response was sorry but it's a friend. Done. If you are a bride and are dependent on people to build all the pieces in your wedding, my advice is to not just look at the flowers, the photos, the cake, but pay attention to the business practices, the ethics, and the reliability on the people behind the cake, flowers, photos, etc. otherwise, it won't matter how great the flowers are, if they don't show up or decide to go back on their word. What an awful feeling Larry has made for all of us.... I will be sure to let everyone know of this experience. Such a let down. :-(
