I've been looking for an alternative to the dealership for my 6 year old Infiniti. Based on a rec from a friend, I called on a Monday for state inspection, oil change and other services, and I was given lots of scheduling options within the week. Amazing customer service - start to finish. My car was making a loud squeaking noise which had stopped when I brought it in. They actually took a ride with me to listen for it and since we couldn't hear it said to drop by anytime while it was making the noise - which I did. They diagnosed it quickly. Explained in depth what it needed with pricing. They actually asked me when I needed it by and finished an hour early. They were also kind and caring which is the complete opposite of my experiences at the dealership service station. I'm done with feeling like a number at the dealership and this is now my only service station. I highly recommend them to anyone needing help with their car. read more

These guys took advantage of my situation and charged way too much. One of the cylinders on my Prius misfired and I told them I already read the error codes and asked them to just replace the faulty spark plug. I told them I'm late for work and I need it done as soon as possible. They refused saying they need to run the diagnostics first and that it'd cost me $105. They wasted an hour just for the diagnostics. And then they came back after running the diagnostics with exactly the same conclusion I did the night before -- one spark plug need to be replaced. Just when I thought they wouldn't charge me anything more than needed they billed me $81 for all the four spark plugs. A set of basic Iridium spark plugs cost $36 while the most expensive Bosch double Iridium ones cost $54. They knew I'm pretty much stuck and took advantage of my situation knowing full well how bad I want my car to be running. All in all the bill came out to $330 for something I knew could be done for $60 at best. That one star is for seeing me right away. read more

Have been bringing my cars here for years. Today's experience was typical-- honest repair, quick, thorough and responsive. They kept me updated on their progress and even applied a coupon without me asking. They have never charged me for a fake repair and I would highly recommend this honest repair shop. I would steer clear of this shop. I took my son's Jeep here and my other son's VW Jetta. The Jeep had an over heating problem which was supposedly fixed by Heilmans. They told me I could pick up the Jeep and everything was handled. I drove 3 miles with the Jeep after picking it up and it overheated and fried the motor. I've had many excuses from Jim Heilman who would like me to pay $3000 dollars to have a used motor put in by his shop. I pay for the motor he pays for the install. Well sounds good but used motors don't cost 3K so I told Him I would supply the motor and he would put it in well he refused to do so. He basically was trying to make more money off a bad situation. So I am stuck with Jeep that is worthless but I still have loan outstanding loan. I am very surprised at this situation. I am friends with Jim's brother Jack and I very surprised at how they handled this situation. read more

It has been about 6 months since my ordeal with this business in Chadds Ford, PA. Having exhausted all options to get my money back, all I can do is warn others. My bf and I were at an out of town wedding, hours away from home. On the way, our car began overheating. We stayed at a hotel and the next morning began calling auto service centers in the area. Heilman said they could take the car that day, so we went with them. Well, they TOOK the car that day, but they failed to LOOK at the car that day. Or the next day. After paying for an extra hotel day and learning they still hadn't looked at that car, we had to make a decision: get our car back and stay for ANOTHER night to bring it to a new place, or get a rental car and go home. We chose the latter. They finally called back the next day, when we were home, and when it was too late to get a second opinion. Strike 1. They explained that there was a faulty water pump and a few other parts they could switch out. "Will this fix the problem?" "Yes." We paid for the parts up front, a little over $1000. WEEKS GO BY, with regular follow up calls. They kept having emergencies and couldn't get to us. Finally, the owner calls back and says the car is fixed, and it didn't overheat on the test drive. As an apology for the length of time, they gave us a significant discount on the labor. We were feeling pretty good at this point. My bf rented a car again and drove to pick up our car, and paid for the labor, a little less than $1000. After five minutes of driving, the car begins to overheat again. So they either a) lied about testing the car, or b) tested the car, had it overheat, but wanted to get their money so they lied that the car was fixed. Strike 2. My bf brought the car back and they did a free diagnostic. In a few minutes, they suddenly realized a head gasket was likely blown. They said they could have the cylinder head tested, but if it was blown it would be a costly repair, a few thousand more, AND it wouldn't be guaranteed to fix the car. I don't know much about cars, but even I know you check the engine if it's been overheating. So they either a) incompetently did not check the engine prior to the first service, or b) DID check the engine and figured they would make as much money as they could off of a dead car. We would have never signed off on these repairs if we had known the engine had not been thoroughly checked. My bf asked for the money back as the car was not fixed. We'd take the old parts back--- but they had been thrown out. He asked for money back for the labor at least and was told, "That's not how this works." Strike 3. Well, after months of communicating with the company and credit cards, they're right. When a car company screws you over, they will often get to keep the money. That's how it works. So take my advice--don't trust Heilman Auto Service Center in Chadds Ford with your money. read more

If I lived in the area, I would take all my cars here. My son was visiting the area this weekend, and had a breakdown late on a Saturday afternoon. Rick took all his information, and even though it was closing time, got him first in line on Monday morning and got him right out the door, at a fair price. Their diagnostics were very thorough, and did not attempt to upcharge. I give them an A+! read more

These guys are amazing. First of all, the man at the front desk is beyond nice and the waiting room is comfortable with free keurig coffee! Second, it was extremely easy to get an appt and they will pick up/drop off your car if you can't. Third, they are really thorough, and did an amazing job finding any problems I might be facing with my car. I just got an oil change and road test, but I was extremely satisfied. They are a little on the pricey side, but if you get a coupon, it's a great deal. read more
