By far my favorite activity of our Amsterdam trip. Like most brewery tours, you start by reading about the history of Heineken and see where they used to brew the beer. Then the tour starts to get really interactive. They walk you through the brewing process with the main ingredients and encourage you to taste some of them (like barley). The coolest part of the tour was where you "become beer." You stand in a theater and the platform will shake, get warm, or spray depending which step of bottling. Pretty awesome. After that there are countless amounts of interactive exhibits like etching your name on a bottle, recording your own music video, and experiencing Heineken advertising throughout the years. Did I mention you also drink a shit ton of Heineken? A must see in Amsterdam. read more

I can't believe this is a "thing." It came highly recommended, so we decided to spend the 18 euros each to go inside. The "experience" is ok, the highlight being the video photo booths. After about 30 minutes you finally make it to the roof-top terrace where you get your "free" beers. The view of Amsterdam is lovely and kids get free soda. The terrace was full of 18 year old "men" drinking and acting like you'd expect drunk 18 year olds to act. Unless you're some kind of Heineken super-fan, your money is best spent elsewhere. read more

First things first, this is no longer a working factory. The experience is not a typical brewing tour where you see assembly lines, but rather now is more a museum exhibit with interactive areas. Pretty gimmicky and touristy with lots of things to do and see. You do receieve 3 free beers along with the tour. You really get immersed in the world of Heinken, from the way they brew their beer, to their advertisements, and there is even a Champions League room with memorabilia. The experience was definitely worth the relatively reasonable price (especially given the fact we received 3 beers). A lot of fun overall but just know what to expect. read more

Fun place. It's huge. A little goofy. I have been to the Busch tour in St Louis where you really see actual beer being made and really get close to the horses etc., this was a little more touristy, but it's still a good time and fun. The samples of beer are ample. A I did learn a lot that I didn't know about beer. There are a lot of opportunities to take pictures and lights flashing and videos and other goofy things here. If you are visiting Amsterdam and you drink beer, this is a must. Easily accessible via the hop on hop off boat or bus. We spent almost 2 hours there. The tour is awesome, much of it interactive. The employees there are extremely friendly and eager to answer questions. 3 tastings are included, with the oppurtunity to score more playing games and answering questions. Better than Guinness because there is more direction and you get TWO free drinks. The give the same information as any beer tour (how its made, history of company, what its doing now, etc) BUT the way this is laid out works really well. There is a flow and you can skip areas if you want. The 'brew you' part is okay, I thought it would be longer after how long we had to wait for it. read more

I would not recommend anyone go to the Heineken Experience unless you absolutely love beer and don't mind being crammed into a small factory like setting with thousands of other tourists. The Experience was so overcrowded we weren't able to get a good look at any of the exhibits. We paid 18 euros for a timed entry pass. However, the crowd control was so poorly managed that it ruined the Experience. Could have been fun if there were half of the people there! read more

"Something is always happening with beer" is the perfect quote for this experience. I absolutely enjoyed every moment of this! Bring a camera because you may forget what happens ( you get free beer in this museum with the purchase, so drink away!!). Even with the beer though, you will never forget this place. Great experience! We learned about the history of the brewery, taste tested, and learned about the smiling 'e' on the bottle. My favorite part was being able to personalize a bottle with my name on it (6 euro). If you know me you know that I LOVE personalized items! This was my favorite activity in Amsterdam and I'm glad we did it. Admission was roughly 16 euro and included walking the entire museum, 2 drinks, and a gift. Not too shabby. I definitely recommend obtaining the tickets before you arrive so you can beat the line (plus it's 2 euro cheaper). I'd definitely do it all over again. read more

If you like Heineken and beer, this place is pretty cool. You get to learn all about how beer is made, specifically heineken. You get to help make some beer and get to even customize your own bottle. They have tastings along the way and even a program to teach you how to properly poor your own draft beer. Also, if you get a chance, go to their rooftop bar with great views of the whole city. read more

I have been on a few brewery tours -- this one was much different. It did a good job of pushing a ton of people through quickly. It was an entertaining tour, the media was on point. There was more than enough opportunities to wet the whistle and the pour your own perfect pint was a nice touch. Some of the tour was under construction/remodelling, so we'll have to make a stop by in the future when its all done read more

5 stars.... ok fine, its Heineken. Did I pay to go in? No.... I don't like Heineken that much and I just wanted to say I was here. They charge about 36 euros per head and you get a tour with 2 cups of beer. Let's be serious, it's Holland and Heineken is a domestic beer, and it was CHEAP. So why pay to go in and see it being brewed? We went in saw the line and the price and walked right back out but took pictures as proof. read more

We stopped by with some friends last January and I must admit that it turned out to be beyond our expectations. First you follow the process of making the beer (and you get to taste the unfinished product), then you have the experience which consists on brewing the public into a bottle of Heineken and aftwerwards you go to the bar where you can learn how to serve a proper pint and exchange the two free beers you get with your ticket (though the ones who have some left and are already leaving usually give away their chips, so be friendly!) read more

I LOVED the VIP experience and think that it is totally worth the money. We had a private tour guide that explained everything in detail and then we were able to go to a special bar. In the bar we were able to try 5 different beers (full glasses) paired with bread/cheese/ or olives. The tour guide also makes your feel special and "VIP" the whole time. After, we were able to go to the rest of the tour and get two more beers. The VIP experience gives you more insight into the history and gives your more beer which think was worth it. read more

Shamelessly touristic, but also surprisingly educational and interactive, the Heineken Experience is a good way to learn about the company's roots, sample some beer, and have fun. The workers are all super friendly and glad to answer any questions you might have about the brewing process, the Heineken horses, or Amsterdam in general. It was a bit crowded the day we went, but it's all at your own pace so you can take as much or as little time as you want in each room. There are lots of little interactive games to play, including a goalie shootout simulator and a rugby tackle competition (you basically push as hard as you can against a plastic dummy that measures the force). At the end of the tour, we hopped on the Heineken boat for a canal ride to their official gift shop where we received a complimentary, commemorative glass. read more

This was a good time to be had by all. You walk in, check your coat, pay 16 Euros for your bracelet and beer tabs, and then start the tour. Unlike other places, it's not a guided tour, rather, you walk through until enough folks mingle at certain spots where they explain the process, show you the stills and horses, and then take you through an "experience" where you "are" the beer. Then you move on through the tasting (Ka Yee, you did fine even though we were too quiet), through the advertisements, and then to the bar to consume your prize. You do get a choice - two 25cl glasses of regular Heineken, one 35cl glass of super ice cold, or you can go learn how to be a master pourer and get once glass, diploma included. One thing that threw me off was when the guys were pouring tons of beer, but then pouring the extras down the drain if they weren't picked up quickly. Heineken insists on serving the beer between 4 and 6 C so if it sits for just a few minutes, they throw it out. read more

I actually didn't expect anything much from this "experience," but I was wrong. It is pretty modern in many aspects while keeping their traditional values together. It shows how the beer is made and tells the history behind it. There are a bunch of fun things to do here contrary to what I thought... there's a "ride" where it takes you on a virtual tour (quite interesting), techno room, DJ room, gaming room, karaoke room, chillaxing sofa things with TVs, etc. I'm not that into beer, but my friends said that it tastes better than the ones you buy at the store. Nonetheless, I had some and a coke at the end. For 15 euros (IIRC), it's worth it. I mean when are you ever going to go to a beer museum with entertainment? It was kind of pricey for a museum like this. However, I think it was worth it. It's pretty cool to see how beer was made and have a tasting party at the end. I wish they still have all you can drink instead of 2 glasses per visitor. The boat ride afterward was very fun. What a corny, over the top, pure marketing gimmick... and I LOVED IT!!! The Heineken in NL is SO much better than the slightly skunky version we get in the U.S. Loved the history, the detail of the brewing process, the interactive games (I apparently kick a rugby ball better than I pour a beer) and the simulated bottling experience ride. They are very particular in how a beer is poured, in a wet glass and sealed with a wet spatula like in the Stella commercials. It really makes a difference, but I digress. I recommend this tour to everyone, but make sure you get the add-on of their hamburger. Grilled and served in the roof deck of the brewery, with the best view in town! read more

This place is amazing. I would highly recommend it to all travellers who visit Amsterdam. You don't even have to like beer, just enjoy the craftsmanship. The tour involves a history lesson, followed by free samples and teaching you the proper way to drink beer to get the most out of it flavour. Then they take you to a really cool room where you can get pictures, it's basically a room which shows all the stuff they sponsor (FIFA, F1 etc). Then you can go socialize with everyone else in a room where you can be taught how to properly pour beer and drink it! read more

The facility was nicely put together inside, however, they allowed too many people in each group and there was a LOT of standing around, standing in line, and listening to young staffers (some of whom were not great speakers) talk about the company. We also had to wait outside for our time slot- we arrived at 6:04 for a 6:15 tour. If you buy tickets online, you'll save a few dollars. We chose to follow the bypass signs for much of the tour. The interactive parts were well designed, but there were far too many people inside to enjoy them. We've done the Guinness tour in Dublin, which was fantastic, so that was my hope and expectation. Our visit was in March, so not the busiest time for tourists because it was still a little cold. read more

The Heineken Experience is a fun way to spend a couple hours and drink a few beers. The tour is similar to other brewery tours but its still fun to see the evolution of teh Heineken through the years. The best part for me was learning to drink beer properly - head tipped back, drinking under the foam. Now I understand why all the bars pour a big head on the beer! We ran into fellow Americans who somehow had gotten many more beers than their alloted 2 that they shared with us so that made it even more fun! Only problem was we missed our tour boat and had to wait a bit for the next one! read more

This was one of the only things I wanted to see in Amsterdam and it did not disappoint. Plus, I was able to pour a "Perfect Pint" and taste the best Heineken i've ever had (4 days old!) Bier bier!!! Of course we where going to visit! Well, we missed the art museum so we ended up here, we grabbed some discounted tickets from a pancake place we visited earlier and we only paid 14 euros each. The "experience part" was nice, a little long and could have been a little more interesting if we had beer to drink along the way. After about 30-45 minutes we finally arrived at the place where you can get a drink. They have a pour yourself station where they require both of your beer tokens or you not pour yourself and get two beers. I must admit the beer did taste different from here in the states, the smell wasn't so skunk like and the beer itself wasn't so watered down. I'm glad we came in, the best part of the experience was the photo booths they have. read more
