We have shopped for years at either the Hudson or Aurora stores. People are nice, good fish variety. However, the bakery products are terrible. The bread and cakes, etc. never cease to disappoint. Their Italian bread in particular is pathetic. It is filled with so many holes and is so crumbly you can even put butter, jams or peanut butter on it. They either need a new baker or a new recipe. The Heinen Brosthers need to checkout other stores' fresh bread and they might figure it out. read more

I have been shopping at various Heinen's stores all my adult life (40+ years). I don't know why anyone would shop at Giant Eagle; Heinen's has better quality produce by far, better quality meat and seafood, excellent breads in their bakery, knowledgeable wine people, and excellent service from the customer service desk to staff on the floor. All of their Heinen's label brands are comparable to national brands and well priced. At busy holiday times, they keep checkouts moving so you don't have to wait long.And, best of all, Heinen's smells good! GE always smells like rotting produce to me. Yes, some Heinen's prices can be higher than Target or ALDI, but they also have great sales. To me, GE is the worst, with higher prices, stores that don't smell clean, LONG checkout lines, and pitiful quality in fresh foods. Try shopping Heinen's a couple of times, concentrating on store brands, fresh produce, meat, and sale items. You'll get hooked, I promise. read more

I had to arrange a gathering in Aurora from California. Based on my phone calls to them, Heinan's made lovely food trays, sandwiches, vegetables and fruit for me. The trays were ready right on time and the food was delicious. Heinan's took the stress out of creating my gathering and everyone enjoyed the lunch. read more

I love how they load the groceries for you at the curbside grocery-loading station. Tips are not required, but I give anyhow. This is a well lit store that feels a bit more upscale than the usual grocery shop. Being here does not feel like a chore. read more

How could I skip reviewing Heinen's? Maybe it's just that I know them well and shop there so regularly that they became an assumption in the back my mind. They're pretty good at the grocery game. My favorite things about the store are the following (not necessarily in order) * they'll track down any product that you want including wine * speaking of wine, they have two very good wine people. Ken and Greg. * Ken and Greg serve a selection of wine samples 7 days a week * they are both very knowledgeable about their products and helpful * $1 gets you a sample in a glass and anywhere btw. 4 - 7 samples * $.25 gets you a plastic cup with samples * did I mention I like the wine department? * the seafood and meat departments are very good * get the baguette frozen from the bakery and bake at home. I love Heinen's. All of them. Not going to lie. Earlier in the day, I visited another local market looking for some local vendors in the store as part of a care package. They were super confused by my request that there could be excellent food and beverage made right here in Cleveland. But then, voila! In just a few minutes from entering Heinen's, an employee was able to specifically rattle off where they keep all the local favorites I was looking for: Erie Island Coffee, Ohio City Pasta, Old City Soda, Humphrey's Popcorn, Urban Honey Co. and more. I always appreciate a store with commitment to shopping local. Additionally, like all the sisters stores, I also adore the quality flower and plants selections that I believe are also sourced locally. They're always fresh, immaculate, and sadly, better then many florist bouquets I've seen around town. This store is very neatly laid out. In fact, it's immaculate. You can find anything you need very quickly. Oh, and its literally in the same plaza as the movie theater. It's worth stopping in to pick up some healthy snacks in lieu of the expensive candy available in the theater! read more

The best place to shop. Period. Really. I have been around for a while and can say nothing but great things to say about Heinens. First, the store is brimming with Thebes's possible food around- produce, meat, desserts, prepared foods for sure . All of it! And, we are regulars here for all of the prepared foods and I can't say enough about the shrimp, flank steak, and the twice baked potatoes.... yum! As for the employees, the most dedicated and helpful that I have ever met. Always. They go out of their way to assist, will get you anything you need , and will guide you in all meal prep. Trust me- these people know what's up. Finally, how can you not Love the fact that they take your Goods to the car? It's perfect. I usually shop at the Heinens in Pepper Pike as it's usually where I am shopping, but I have nothing but great things to say about the Aurora location. As many know, Heinens leads the way as the best grocery store in Cleveland. They are all over and am exceptional place to shop. The store in Aurora is quite small and as always personalized in their service. They have all that the other stores have- excellent meats and produce and a wonderful prepared food section. I was happy with the selections and the customer service. While I do prefer the buzz of a larger store, this one fits the bill when you are in a pinch. read more

Earlier this year they replaced my favorite Turkey and Avocado wrap with the Chicken and Avocado wrap, promising they would return with the wrap as soon as they received another shipment of turkey. Upon my arrival today, I was disappointed to find out that they were using turkey in the form of substance for a croissant! They were using the beloved ingredients of the turkey avocado wrap for a croissanwich So disappointing. The best PUMPKIN BREAD I've EVER eaten. If they sold nothing else, I would still give them 5 stars. I bought 2 loaves the day before my flight and stuck them in my suitcase. But, as it turns out, a lot of there other prepared foods are good too. This is a grocery store. I'd put it somewhere between a Publix and a Whole Foods. It has a lot of the nice organic and specialty stuff you'd expect from a Whole Foods, but also carries Coke and normal products as well. If this chain existed in Miami, I'd drive however many miles out of the way to shop here. read more

Just moved to town and people have recommended Heinen's to me. I've been there a few times now and think it's a great market! Clean, big selection of everything, well laid out and high quality products. Their produce is very fresh, baked goods are wonderful and a nice selection of prepared foods. They also have a cafe where you can sit and have lunch. The prices seem a bit high; however, you are paying a bit more for the great service. They seem to always have plenty of staff to help if you have questions, always have someone bagging, and then load your bags into you vehicle when you leave. This grocery store never fails to impress me. Every time I aimlessly walk in for maybe a quick snack or to pick up a few food items, I am ALWAYS buying more than I came in for. I think it's because all their products look so good! The produce is fresh, the bread is straight out of the oven, sushi is always amazing, the fish counter is serving you the very best fresh fish, and when you're done shopping, there's plenty of registers open so you can get out in time. The interior is very clean. (If you haven't been to a Heinen's, let this be your first one). They give you the options of leaving your groceries in the store and pulling your car up to have an employee load up your car for you! It's always very convenient, clean, and fresh! read more

Im 22 and my mom had to buy my beer. I have a Florida ID and they renew every 8 years. Therefore my id looks the same when I got it at 18. That's why there's and date and it scans. I was told they would see if it scan and of course it did. However, I still couldn't by my beer. If you don't have an Ohio ID go somewhere else for beer. read more

Pos store screwed me on my instacart order stole my money and no delivery. Customer service laughed thinks its funny. It's a great grocery store. They have pretty much everything you could need. The prices are a a bit high comparatively. It's a clean store and the people are helpful. I am a huge fan of Heinens and have been since I was a kid. 40+ years ago we would go from Bainbridge to Lander Circle for our groceries. But I have to say since moving to Aurora in November the Aurora store has disappointed me on more than one occasion. So sad. Not only do they not carry a lot of the things that were my go tos at the Bainbridge store, the sushi is not nearly as good, the staff is not as friendly and helpful and the cases in the front are nearly always missing one of the items they are advertising. I don't even bother looking anymore. However my biggest complaint is the cleaning and closing things up 20-30minutes before closing. Lots of times I am running in during the last half hour. The other day I went in it was 20 minutes before closing and ALL the meat was out of the cases. I tried to get some hamburger from the butcher but couldn't find anyone to help me. Went to prepared foods to see what I could grab there for dinner since I wasn't making what I needed hamburger for and no luck there either. Most items were already removed and those that were still in the case had already had the utensils removed and I was told they were being cleaned. That has now happened twice at the prepared foods. And I have had similar experiences at the deli. It's a haul but I try now to only shop at Heinens in Bainbridge. Might give the ones in Hudson and Twinsburg a try but will only go to the one in Aurora if I really have to. read more

Don't mistake Heinen's for a "grocery" store. It's more than that. They have such nice fresh produce, meat and fish. Pretty good selection of cheeses too. The staff are always friendly and very knowledgeable. Prices are fair for the service and selection. We visit here rarely only because it's too far away from home. This is NOT a Giant Eagle, better than Market District too. We almost always buy some seafood every visit. The selections are so fresh and varied. read more

I like to run in for a few items and then be on my way. But the way Heinen's has set up their drive up grocery loading is "RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE EXIT DOOR." So you have people in the crosswalk one foot away from a car picking up groceries. 90% of the time the car is parked over the crosswalk. Shoppers exiting the store have to walk around a car just to leave Heinen's. Really!! What manager/owner thought this was a great idea? It's been going on for a long time. I have lived here for 20 years and nothing has changed. Just look in the news this past week. 2 different people hit by a car. One is a 60 year old lady run over in a crosswalk by a hit and run driver. I was run over by a van while in a crosswalk 5 years ago. I just had my second surgery on a broken leg. People of Aurora may be educated and wealthy, but they don't have common sense or pay attention to other shoppers near by who have the "RIGHT OF WAY" in a cross walk. Heinen's should focus on the safety of their shoppers or get a good insurance policy in case someone is hurt when a driver accidently puts their car into drive instead of park, and hits a pedestrian in the crosswalk. read more

As others have said, this is definitely a step up from Giant Eagle, though there are a few drawbacks. Pros: Quality. If you walk into Heinen's, the produce is almost always excellent. For example: During winter, Giant Eagle has smelly, nearly-rotting tomatoes. By contrast, Heinen's produce is always fresh. Service. The people who work here don't point. If you ask where something is, they'll walk you to the product 100% of the time. Everyone who works there is polite, professional, and a refreshing change from larger chains. Cons: (Some) Prices. Granted, higher quality usually means higher prices, but their meats are really up there. Heinen's organic chicken is frequently a lot pricier than Giant Eagle's, for example. Selection. Heinen's isn't as large as other groceries, which means that some non-food sections are going to be a lot smaller. Shopping at Heinen's means that you're going to be going somewhere else to get bath products, for instance. Bakery. Sadly, the worst bakery I've ever tried. Undercooked muffins (twice), flavorless cake donuts, and unimpressive pies have made me give up. Like I said, they aren't exactly cheap, so I had to cut bait on their baked goods at the risk of losing more money. Ive gotta say, the smaller crowds and better quality make this an appealing place. I was getting some cake from the excellent bakery counter when a store employee came up and waved over the baker. He quietly explained that there was a crying child in another aisle and could he have a small cookie cut in half to share between the child and her brother. The baker's reaction was to exclaim, "An unhappy child in MY store? That's unacceptable!" She then scooped up an armload of treats and hurried off to shower the sad child and her brother in sugary goodness. That about sums up this store for me. Yes there are many Heinen's stores on the east side of Cleveland. They have a reputation for quality items. This store has a great selection of quality items. Some are unique. Nice produce selection. Good fresh seafood selection and meat selection. Good wine and gourmet food section. Yes, you can find lower prices on items at other stores. I absolutely love Heinen's. This is probably my favorite grocery store near where I live. They have the best bakery goods, everything is fresh and delicious. I really like the variety of meats available at the meat section such as bison and elk. I don't eat beef or pork so it is nice that I can get things like bison steaks and duck bacon. The sushi and prepared food items are really fresh and made with care, large salad bar and made-to-order stir-fry station are great additions to a great store. The product selection is vast for a medium-size grocery store and the people in the deli, fish and meat departments are super friendly and helpful. I've always had a good experience with Heinen's and I would recommend anyone in the area to stop in a check out their bakery and meat department. There is a large selection of organic produce, artisan cheeses and a whole section of vegan foods. The prices are pretty good considering the high quality of store-brand products and the there are sales on both store-brand and name-brand items. read more
