Great grocery store! Just became my favorite place to shop! It's never crowded, insanely clean and organized. The staff is super friendly and professional. They also have a lot of great items you cannot find anywhere else! With Whole Foods going downhill and Trader Joe's always being slammed + limited on options, this is the best place for groceries in the area. I see the negative reviews are about the prices. It's in one of the wealthiest towns in one of the most taxed areas in the country. That should not be a surprise. Plus everything is expensive now. They say Mariano's and Jewel are better options, but those places are dirty, horrible service, moldy produce, smelly, and you don't really save that much. You get what you pay for though, so I understand why this place is on the pricier end, that's ok, and not a reason for a low review. Low reviews are for staff, cleanliness, product, perishables, meat, deli, smell, etc. I say this admitting I am very picky and OCD about grocery stores. Me and my wife are very familiar with checking out the Heinen's Grocery Store in the Cleveland area and we've never been to the Naperville location which is the closest location from home. I see a lot of people complain with the prices prior to coming here from Yelp and Google reviews. Let me say, that this selection is pretty affordable and way better price than if you shopped at Jewels. In fact, this store is better than most of their Cleveland stores. It's beautiful and vibrant Once you walk in, the restrooms are outstanding. The hot food is incredible. The selection here is huge with items that I have not seen in any Chicagoland store are present. Staff here was friendly and helpful and we appreciated that there was free samples here. I will say that some of the everyday items are expensive but some of the harder to find Goods that we like to find like delicata squash are here and are at a cheap price where a lot of stores don't have them. I will also say that the hard cider selection is very small and I will say that the health food selection is a bit lacking in some areas. Overall, I'm very impressed with the store and we do plan on coming here more frequently. Hope to see more Heinen stores make their way throughout the Chicagoland suburbs read more

Pie to the fore, again! Stopped by as I was too lazy to drive all the way to Whole Foods with a head cold. The strawberry rhubarb pie filling is to die for. Strangely the rest of the bakery is meh, but the pies are amazing and much better than you'd think. It tastes homemade, although the crust is bit meaty. I almost ate half of the pie (just the filling). It was that good! read more

Flash sale going on for halibut today and tomorrow (10/19) for 19.99/lb - whole fish flown in from Canada and looks very fresh. Definitely recommend signing up for their rewards program since they have really great flash sales every other weekend and tons of member-specific sales. Heinen's is from Ohio, but lots of their meat and seafood sourcing is similar to Whole Foods, sometimes at better pricing when they're on sale. Also love the produce quality they have, but definitely a bit pricier than other average grocery stores. Staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Counters and store is very clean. Visited the newly opened Heinen Grocery Store in Naperville! The store is extremely clean, neatly organized, and offers a good variety of products. Prices vary from premium to a good deal. Staff were all professional, helpful, and in cheerful spirits! This wouldn't be a store I do all of my grocery shopping at but I genuinely enjoyed their international food aisles, flower section, as well as their fresh food to buy. They had areas for butcher/meat offerings, seafood, bakery, fresh sushi, prepackaged meals to-go, salad bar, hot bar, and a fast-casual mexican ordering counter. If this didn't sell you, they also have a really good wine selection with a tasting area sold in three different oz increments. I thoroughly enjoyed walking all the aisles. Highly recommend making the time to stop out and explore for yourself! Tip: Sign up for their Rewards Program before visiting to enjoy extra discounts. read more

The wait is over and Heinen's is open at last! This is a lovely new building on Chicago Ave. where Butera used to be (the old strip was razed). The interior has a few bottlenecks, including right at the front of the store; maybe this won't be as crowded when the newness wears off? There are some amenities such as a big salad bar, soups to go, an area with the makings of your charcuterie board, and a to-go counter with tacos, quesadillas, burritos and bowls. If you're one of those people who can't get through your grocery shopping without a wine tasting, there's a wine bar in the middle of the store for you. Heinen's was originally founded as a butcher business, and they have quite an array of meat...at eye-popping prices. Will have to check the circular to see what's on special and go from there. But if you're looking for meats like veal and lamb, they had it, as well as cuts that have been harder to find in other grocery stores of late, such as short ribs. The rest of the products were comparable in price to Mariano's. They had a decent selection overall in all areas. Lots of staff around today (since it just opened) but hopefully that will continue. I love this store. It reminds me of The Fresh Market on 59 and is much more convenient for me. There is a Mexican stand to prepare fresh food ~ how cool is that? It will take a few visits to figure out the layout. I did not see store directories, but I didn't ask. To go meals looked delicious. Staff was very friendly and anxious to help. We bought a coffee cake of a brand we had never heard of and thought it was absolutely delicious. Very moist and flavorful and they make seasonal flavors. Yup, I will return. read more

I like Heinen's. I went to the Waukegan Rd store years ago. This is a brand new upscale grocery store in Naperville. More Mariano's than Mariano's used to be. Here's the rub; the same bag of Ruffles is $3.50 down the street is $5.50 here. That means like Whole Foods I can only do some of my shopping there. There is a take out taqueria there it was busy; but looked good. There is a small hot bar; but I did not see the soup to go. Maybe I missed it. In summary, a clean well run new store. read more

Excited to see another grocery store nestled in the Naperville Northeast neighborhood. What used to be a Butera has gotten a major facelift with this upscale grocery store. Went on opening day so the place was buzzing for sure. The layout reflects a typical grocery store but with a little more Visual appeal, especially in the produce section. The standout unique thing I found was the variety of fresh mushrooms sold by the pound. There were plenty of staff on hand to assist if needed. They have some ready-made food products and a little bar within the beer, wine, and spirits section. No coupons to clip, but they do have a loyalty rewards program with your phone number. It won't be my every day grocery store, but will continue to check it out for some unique items or when I'm in the area. read more

Overall, Heinens is a nice grocery store. It is clean, well-lit, and usually has everything I'm looking for. The location is very convenient for me and this is now the closest grocery store to my home. I think the prices for meat are very competitive and I like the selection. The sale prices range from "this is still cheaper elsewhere" to "wow that's a great deal!" Unfortunately the regular prices are just too high for me to do all of my grocery shopping here. For most items, the prices are $1-2 more each than at Target or a similar item at Trader Joes. I will continue to do most of my shopping elsewhere and come to Heinen's if I need something last minute or if they're having a good sale on something. Be sure to scout out the cart corrals when parking - there aren't very many! read more

I'm very familiar with Heinen's having grown up in the Cleveland area. When they started entering the Chicago region I would make pilgrimages to the stores in the northern suburbs. This store is the best I've been in regardless of location. The layout and design are well thought out and clearly demonstrate the benefits of decades in the industry and building new from the ground up. Generally speaking this is simply a superior shopping experience for those with discerning tastes who enjoy a clean, well organized and managed specialty grocery store. read more

We have literally found our new favorite grocery store. The store is so organized and I really like the way that it is laid out. The fish and meat department is unmatched and quality of anywhere else in the area. You'll have to try the chicken Italian sausages with feta and spinach. Fantastic! The meat department has the best beef fajitas I've ever had behind the counter that you buy by the pound and take home and cook and I'm really impressed with the fish department selection and also their homemade fresh seafood based salads as well. We are big fans of the prepared foods here and also the meat department. They have great little mini meatloaf that we take home for quick dinners and lots of grab and go meals. I only wish the bakery department had a bigger selection. They're basically just food and cookies. They don't have any fresh donuts. That's my only downside as a donut lover ! read more

LOVE this store. The staff is so nice and friendly. Everything is so clean. And the bakery is out of this world! I wish the deli had a few more options or more take and bake meals but the produce is so fresh and plentiful. I also absolutely love the wine tasting station. Fun to try new things or to enjoy a glass of wine while shopping. I feel the prices are competitive with surrounding stores. Perhaps even a little better than comparable grocers. read more

Heinen's opened a location near us we like to order on the App pick up... the store has a lot of gluten free food for my diet & speciality items that naturally cost more money. Just like other grocery stores Heinens has a weekly ad their brand name items are lower priced flowers are much cheaper and nicer overall a great experience! read more

We were there on day 2. The best description of this store would be that it's like a small Whole Foods. It is a puzzle why the store is so small given all the real estate they had to work with. Prices for most items are higher than other nearby stores (Mariano's, Jewel). I can't see this as a store where you would go to buy a week's worth of groceries. It's more of a place where you would run in to buy some specialty item that you can't find elsewhere or something that is on sale. Selections are limited (small store). If you want to taste wine you have to come up with $50 (-$10 for grand opening) up front. Then you can taste several wines from taps. This is a very small grocery store. I did not find it to be any cheaper than the rest of the grocery stores. The flour I use was the exact same price I pay at Whole Foods. The produce section is tiny and there is not a lot of organic or brand options if you're brand specific. There is a restaurant in the store that I will check out later. The menu makes me think it's similar to a Chipotle. This will be good for running in to grab something you need last minute but I doubt the store would make it into my rotation of grocery stores I visit. read more

the store is very well organized and tidy. i bought their breaded cod from the freezer section, and when i tasted it-ugh! it tasted as though it had been breaded with old oil, the same way that mayonnaise or salad dressing tastes, when it's old and goes bad. the taste was just off and unpleasant. i gave it to the raccoons, as the store is too far away for me to make a trip just to return it. read more

Everyone in town was excited for a new grocery store. However, this place is not going to make it. The prices are more compared with Casey's foods than Jewel, but the quality and variety of the produce is no where near the competition. The strawberries were 4.99 and were mushy/spoiled. We also got a two brothers brownie, awful. The fresh polish was gross. Chicago is a tough market to compete in, but get better or go home. read more

I know a 3 rating isn't very helpful, but I feel this store is squarely in the middle rating. New, clean, organized and friendly, well staffed. Attentive counter staff, but small bakery and deli. Wine/Beer tasting, sushi made on sight, and a Mexican kitchen. Price and selection will keep me from shopping here regularly. read more
