Our HOA had its own approval layer on top of the city permit, and Sun Vault Roofing helped us navigate a two-week back-and-forth over approved shingle colors (side salad: ridiculous that HOAs have this kind of bureaucracy). Despite the complications, Sun Vault Roofing kept us updated through every delay and milestone without us having to chase anyone down. That alone was worth the price difference. The crew showed up on time, worked two full days, and left the yard cleaner than they found it. The roof has now been through 2-3 major storms since installation, including the crazy hail in April and there is not a speck of damage. Everything looks sharp and clean. Starting with Dan Thelen, he provided all options and cost of product details. There were no surprises. The install crew I understand has been with Total Exteriors from the start. The day of my roof installation Zion and the install crew showed up well before the planned start time and rocked it out. Their attention to detail, teamwork and final cleanup was more than what I expected and exceeded the experience that I had 23 years ago with a previous roofing company. A representative from Hasheider Roofing & Siding came to my property on May 12, 2026 to look at a roof replacement/repair project. After the visit, I spent considerable time taking detailed photos of the roof, interior access points, roof structure, drainage/scupper area, and leak locations so they would have a clear understanding of the project's scope. I emailed the photos and project details to the representative who visited. Three weeks passed after the initial visit, and I still had not received a quote or any follow-up. I called the office on June 3 and spoke with the business manager. She said she would get back to me the same day with the quote status, but I did not hear back. I emailed the business manager on June 5 asking whether the representative had been able to review the information I sent. I received no reply. I called the office again on June 11 and requested to speak with the business manager. She was unavailable, so I left my name and phone number and requested a call back regarding the status of my quote. I did not receive a return call. Later that same day, I emailed both the representative and the business manager asking when a quote would be available. As of June 15, I have received no replies to my emails, no returned phone calls, and no quote. I understand roofing contractors get busy when the weather warms up. I also understand that a contractor may decide not to take a project. However, basic communication matters. If they were not interested in the job, a simple and timely reply saying so would have been perfectly acceptable. When hiring a contractor, you are essentially entering into a working relationship. You should not be left without a response from the very beginning of that process. Based on my experience with Hasheider Roofing & Siding, I would not consider them for roofing work.

From the initial design estimates, to iterating on our ideas and providing feedback, to helping select trims and finish, and then building the entire extension. They were always patient with us when we needed more time to think about the project, but they were always immediately responsive when we needed their input. They are certainly a premium contractor, but for a project of that scale, it was not something that we could have ever hoped to accomplish on our own. It certainly made sense for us to pick a excellent contractor who would be prepared for every scenario. And that is what we got with Frey. With a project of this size, I think common knowledge would cause the average person to assume that there would be substantial delays and setbacks. but the entire time we worked with Frey, there from the day they broke ground to the day it was done, they didn't slip a single deadline. Their staff was always incredibly professional. The subcontractors that they worked with were top notch. You could tell that the people who were here working on our home really cared about the project and wanted to make it good and make it right, and they would redo parts of it if they weren't done correctly. we really appreciated the attention to detail. There were many times when I thought that they went above and beyond to help make the remodeling project go smoothly. Notably, they helped move all of our appliances and counter surfaces into our living room so that we could continue to live out of our living room while our entire kitchen was being demoed and remodeled. It wasn't work that they needed to do, but they were more than happy to help. If we ever needed to do another large scale remodeling project, they would be the first people we would call.
