Wow! The Catpaws team is genuinely the definition of 5 star service. A little about my experience: I have a colony of stray cats in my neighborhood that I have been working on getting fixed. I met Julie from the HB team based off of recommendations from AALOC. Julie and her team were excellent, delivering quality service and most importantly, showing that they truly care about the community cats. I would love to highlight that Julie went above and beyond by helping me connect with OCAA to make sure I could make my goals with helping the community cats. Without Julie's support, kindness, and quick attention, I would not have been able to navigate this process as easy. My cousin and I tried to help out a neighborhood cat that was abandoned by her owner about a year ago when they moved away. Since then, she's had multiple litters. After booking at the cheapest location we can afford, we found out she's pregnant. With this new discovery, a $100 surgery turns into possibly $1000 depending on how far along she was. We were devastated as this is outside what we can afford financially. Thankfully, a friend who currently fosters for CatPAWS connected me to them. In 2018, I walked into a CatPAWS adoption event at PetSmart in Seal Beach and met the most perfect, curious kitten. I immediately put in my adoption application and was approved! However, she needed to stay with her foster a little longer to grow big enough to be spayed. My kitten's foster, Diane, was amazing - she kept me updated via text message and sent so many pictures of my baby. A year and a half later, my baby girl Percy was an adult but I thought she might like a friend. So I reached out to CatPAWS and started fostering! My first foster was a little tortie kitten with a heart murmur who needed some additional TLC before her spay. I had her for two months and felt so supported as a new foster. I've continuously fostered for almost two years now, and I've had many cats and kittens in my care. I even foster failed! Fostering isn't always easy - scared cats may hiss and swat, kittens' health may suddenly change requiring immediate action... but it's my job as a foster to get these cats healthy and socialized for a potential adopter. I've felt supported by the CatPAWS leadership team when I have behavioral or health questions, and I know my knowledge as a foster has grown over this time. CatPAWS is a wonderful nonprofit organization! I have rescued 2 cats from them as well as fostered for them on several occasions. This included monitoring daily food consumption, charting weight gain or loss, and on occasion administering medication. One case required putting a kitten in a Nebulizer for 20 minutes 3 times a day! I am happy to say she is very healthy and happy in her forever home and I love that I was able to assist her on her journey. I'm not sure how old Logan (below) is or why she feels the need to get her entire family to post on her behalf especially since she stated in her first sentence, that she noticed the kittens had ringworm on their stomachs the first day she got them. If that is the case, why did she not contact anyone or take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the fungus? Additionally, Jennifer D. seems to think that ringworm is uncommon and potentially life altering... when in fact it is very common and self treatable. Fostering and volunteering are acts of selflessness, putting another's needs above your own, and if you're not up for the challenge then it is best to step aside. read more

Note: that these kittens had ringworm the first day they were given to me. I noticed it on they're stomach this didn't happen overtime. My review got taken down because this is a tragedy for there company. I will continue to spread the word because I hope this dose not happen to anyone else. This company CatPaws gave me ringworm. They are unprofessional, rude to me in the end and I hope they learn from they're mistakes. I'm currently washing my sheets, taking medication for the ringworm, had throw away my makeup brushes, disinfect the spare bedroom I had for the kittens and apply creams five times a day. As well as clean my couches and floors. Lysol everything. These women that gave me the kittens did not tell me they had ringworm and they said they were experts. They postponed they're visits as well when I asked to check on them. If anyone would like more proof or detail feel free to dm me. I just wanted to foster some baby kittens and give them good homes. This isn't just one spot it's all over our bodies, it painful and it's itchy. All we wanted to do was raise this babies and give them a good home. I forgive you guys but I still want people to know that what happened and is happening to me right now isn't okay. A 18 year old like me shouldn't have been given sick kittens. They should've been taken to the vet. This experience won't stop me from fostering kittens this is a learning lesson to just find a more professional company next time. read more

This is a terrific organization. They are legitimately trying to provide good, solid homes for each of their rescues. Here's our story: It's the pandemic. All travel plans for the next three years go kablooie! I'm home all day, housewife in hell. Having previously had cats for many years, I'm thinking it's time to open our hearts and home once again. We looked on the internet at many different adoption foundations and found Helen Sanders CatPAWS. The online application was easy and was followed by a telephone interview with Eden. Once we passed muster, I asked to meet the cat we were interested in. Unfortunately, due to Covid, it is not possible to spend time with the cat of your choice. They are being fostered by dedicated humans who do not want Covid introduced into their homes. Instead, you receive a detailed description of your cat's history and behaviors (Note: the wonderful staff will bring a potential adoptee to PetSmart for you to meet on a scheduled adoption day). We were directed to Beth's home where we met our new baby. This cat was well behaved, very social, and had no destructive behaviors. She fit immediately into our family. Oops, one problem: she didn't sleep at night. This girl was completely nocturnal, and spent each and every night yowling up and down the hall. Beth explained that she had a litter recently and perhaps she was missing her babies. We tried everything we could for a month, changing feeding times, playing until we were worn out....etc. It just didn't work. After a month of constant jet-lag, we had to throw in the towel. First line health care responders really need to sleep. I had to return this baby with a broken heart. I had bonded with this lovely cat. Suffice it to say, I was filled with guilt and horror. Beth was generous of heart, and never made us feel badly that this cat was not a "fit" for our home. She reassured us and said when we were ready, we could try again. A month later, we received a text from Beth. She had a rescue and needed a foster. She sent amazing pictures that tugged at our hearts. Unbeknownst to us, this poor baby had a very sad history. They were going to have to board her at a vet in a tiny metal cage. We agreed to foster her for a month. She is delightful and is slowly working her way into our hearts as we learn her and she us.... I cannot say enough about this organization. Nothing is done half way. Each animal is spayed/neutered and chipped prior to placement. Their entire medical history comes with them as well as their personal stories. Upon adoption, you are given a folder with all the information on your new baby. The cats are vaccinated, social, and healthy. And while it's all about the little souls looking for forever homes, it's also about their volunteers. I must give a huge shout out to Beth. This woman is an unpaid volunteer who gives of herself tirelessly. She spends hours not only with the animals, but with prospective parents. She makes sure both you and the cat are the right "fit" and that everyone is happy. Her gentle nature and kind demeanor are comforting, welcoming, and a breath of fresh air in these uncertain times. Her professionalism, care, devotion, and concern for the cats (and adoptive parents) is truly a wonder to behold. DO NOT GET ANY CATS FROM THIS PLACE OR EVEN VOLUNTEER. JULIE AND THE ENTIRE PLACE IS PURE EVIL. My husband reached out to this place to get 2 kittens Tyler and Diki and they interviewed him on Sunday 5/1 and told him to come get the kittens on Monday 5/2 at 5pm by the pet smart in seal beach which is where we had seen them first and our kids got to play with them and loved them. We told the kids they chose us and we could come get the kittens the next day at 5pm. We were at at the pet Smart even before 5pm and there was nobody the Cat PAWs area. We shopped for cat litter, toys and scratchers and walked over again and still nobody there. We reached out to the pet smart Employee who told us he had not seen anyone from CAT paws either but there iPad was still there. We finally called the number that had told my husband to come get the cats at 5pm and a JULIE picks up and says SORRY you were not there at exactly 5pm so the kittens are going to the next person. It's cat season so everyone wants a cat and she hangs up. We try to call her again and she does not pick up. We call the lady who interviewed my husband and she says yes Julie called me and it's going to the next person now. WHAT??? Our kids start crying and we return everything we just purchased for these kittens. We will share this story with everyone and all social media so they know how evil you are and you should be ashamed of yourselves. We fell in love with Juliet at the Petsmart in seal beach. We played with her for a few days to see if thought she would be a good fit for our home. We submitted an application and had a phone call interview later that day. Did a meet and greet with her and Julie the lady who helped us. And fell in love. We tried a couple shelters and this one was great! Here's what happened: -Application was super straightforward. I tried to fill out applications for this other shelter and it was around 30-40 questions! Not CatPaws though. Super simple. - After the application they called me and asked questions about how I would take care of the cat and meet it's needs. I spoke to Erica and she was very friendly. I could tell she wanted to make sure our kitty was going to a good home. - Then we went to PetSmart because the shelter was working with them and we found our kitty! Eden was there to help and she was very patient and open to questions. My only con was figuring out the location because we went to the address but when I asked an animal hospital nearby, they said there isn't one. When I texted the shelter, they told me they were having the kittens adopted at PetSmart. It wasn't far and we found a great kitten anyways. Overall, wonderful experience. I have been fostering with CatPAWS for nearly two years now and I absolutely love this organization! I had fostered with another local rescue previously and the difference is night and day. CatPAWS gives you all of supplies, medication, and equipment you could possibly need. There's a whole team of experienced volunteers that you can text any time, day or night if any of your kittens have a medical issue you want to check in on. They're flexible with my inconsistent work schedule and allow me to take breaks from fostering whenever I need. Erica works very hard to make sure that she pairs you with the right fosters so you are never given more than you are comfortable taking on. Anyone involved in cat rescue knows that kittens taken in off of the street almost always have underlying health issues that may not be immediately apparent. That's why there is a mandatory two week quarantine before introducing them to your own pets. As a foster, it is helpful if you already have some basic knowledge of how to identify the most common kitten issues (parasites, URIs, etc) but they will help you diagnose anything you're unfamiliar with and they will then give you everything you need to treat it or setup a vet appointment, if necessary. I've fostered nearly 30 kittens with CatPAWS and loved each and every one of them. My partner and I have happily foster failed twice and added two CatPAWS alumni to our family. I discovered Catpaws while shopping for food for my cat at PetSmart in Seal Beach. My husband and I had been wanting a second cat, a friend for the kitten we'd adopted from another local rescue. A volunteer was there and let us come in to meet a little black cat who caught our eye from the window. She was friendly, playful and won us over right away. The volunteer told us all we had to do what fill out an app and someone would call us to do an interview. That night, we went through the interview, over the phone - long story short, that night we brought our Gigi home. We liked her name so much we kept it. She was spayed, all shots and vaccinations and we were given her medical records. It was a very positive experience and we'd adopt from them again! read more
