I've never adopted as I've always have been given a cat/kitten I went during black Friday of all days and I got Molly She was a tortie and tiny so tiny she couldn't be fixed yet so I had to come back to get her operated which was no problem and they did a great job! A year later I got pepper and he was also a small little kitten Both experiences were great and I had no issues Staff was always friendly and nice and I honestly tell people to come here

I still strongly believe in adopting over shopping when it comes to dogs. I wanted to give an…read moreupdate on the dog we adopted from this shelter and how things have been going. He's an amazing cuddle bug who loves pets, car rides, and treats. We're still working on some toy possessiveness, but it has improved immensely from where it started. He's not a danger to anyone and has even been able to play with other dogs in small group settings a few times. We also fostered a dog for a weekend to help with potty training before it went to its new home, and our dog absolutely loved it. Scout has truly been the missing piece we didn't know we needed. He can be a little lazy at times, but he has so much personality packed into his small body. Adopting a shelter animal takes time, patience, and understanding--but time really does heal. Don't let initial behavioral notes or interactions at the shelter deter you from finding your perfect match--your fur friend, soul dog... or cat... or even a critter. We've even created a whole backstory for him, and we genuinely believe adopting him was one of the best decisions we've ever made. He gets so many compliments on how he looks, and he soaks up all the attention he gets from strangers.

In March 2017, I picked up an injured seagull. It had a broken beak with dried blood, which…read moreapparently had affected its ability to catch food and eat because it was emaciated. When I inspected the body, it didn't appear to have had any fractures, but it was covered in mites. I intended to take it to a bird rescue place, but I wouldn't have time for several days after picking the picking the bird up. I took the bird home with me and I gave it a thorough bath to get rid of the mites (if you're losing blood, you can't heal). The feathers were in a dry and cracked condition. I kept it in a box to reduce stress from external stimuli. I fed it fish 4 times per day. Over the next 4 days and 16 meals, the seagull improved dramatically. The energy increased, as well it's its level of alertness. When I noticed that the injury on the beak had begun to heal, I was certain that it would be releasable within at least 3 months. In the 5th day, I took the gull to the "International Bird Rescue," because they rescue sea birds. When I left, I felt good about it, certain that I had done the right thing, and that they bird would have a good outcome. I called one week later. I asked the lady that answered about the current condition of the seagull. She told me that after I brought it in, they took it to the back and euthanized it because they assessed that its condition to be too severe and that it would never be able to heal..... I can guarantee you that if I hade been able to donate more, they would have "assessed" it differently, and the seagull would have healed just fine. Don't give to this place.

I volunteered here yesterday, helping to bid a large aviary for some big sea birds…read more I have to admit, I had never heard of this place before I signed up to volunteer. Located on a hilltop in Angel's Gate park in San Pedro, the center rescues and rehabilitates injured sea birds. During an oil spill crisis, they also rescue and clean oiled birds. The facility is closed to the public, but you can help through donations or volunteering. They have a host of volunteers and a few full time staff members, as well as a vet that donates her time. What they do here is really amazing! I'm looking forward to going back to donate some more of my time.

I want you all to see my baby before he got sick and the BEAUTIFUL way he come home to me after he crossed the rainbow bridge... they treated my baby with so much dignity and respect. I feel like they honor our pets beautifully because they know how special they are to us. They even provide you with grief support resources. I will continue to support CAMP because I know they will support me and my babies. I was amazed at the quality of care we received, the urn and the keepsakes for the price that we paid... you'll always have to pay something but they are super affordable without skimping on quality or care. Thank you CAMP!

The staff was friendly and the care the gave my little pup was great. She needed some additional service to biopsy a mass that was on one of her ovaries. They called to get approval and explained what needed to be done. They took such great care of our little Canela. Pick up was fast she was sent home with her meds, they gave praises to our little one. They followed up a couple of days after to see how she was doing and called me later the following week with the biopsy results. All was good! The cost was very reasonable and I will be taking her back for her vaccines.
