I've been using this place for a While and they recently "lost" a $275 cashmere sweater and when I asked what are they going to do about it I was told I would get store credit. I advised them that this is not good to me since I will not be using them for services going forward. Helen's Cleaners is a great place to get laundry done. A little pricey but you 100% get what you pay for. They are incredibly friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make sure your clothes are taken care of. On top of their kindness and generosity, they also take great care of your clothes. They always are clean and folded nicely. Unfortunately my partner and I have moved from this area to one with an in-building washer & dryer and, although cheaper, we're going to miss the convenience and great service that we got at Helen's. Still really sweet people, but my skirt ripped AGAIN (maybe it's beyond repair at this point?) and the most recent disappointment was that I dropped off two pairs of pants that had rips and needed repair. I was told I could pick them up on Tuesday. I came on Friday (3 days after I was told to come) and they weren't ready. They told me that they would definitely be ready the next day, Saturday, but when I returned again on Saturday in the late afternoon they still weren't ready! I'm not sure why it takes almost two weeks to repair two small rips on pants? They aren't the cheapest so I really expect my stuff to be ready when they say it will. read more

I've lived around the corner from this business for three years, but only discovered them about a year ago. Since that time they've provided prompt and reliable dry cleaning and alteration service. The ownership and staff is friendly and professional, and the prices reasonable for the services provided. Having read the lone review that preceded mine, I am puzzled at it's reviewer's experience being so starkly different from my own. Particularly with regard to pricing, which is claimed to be "exorbitant". I would challenge anyone to find a reputable drycleaner with markedly lower prices than Helen's. Other than that, I suspect Jo Ellen had a singular bad experience, which, while unfortunate, does not reflect the dozens of good experiences I myself have had. I wouldn't travel too far out of my way to patronize Helen's Cleaners- they're good, but it's just drycleaning- but if you live in the immediate vicinity as I do, I think they're a sure bet. read more

I feel like dry cleaners on Yelp either have stellar or dismal reviews, so I wanted to give Helen's a good average score. I've never had anything come back to me ruined or still dirty, but I have had to wait longer for items even if they had been promised to be in a shorter amount of time. Helen's is my reliable go-to cleaners. I've never had an issue with my clothes, and I can always count on them to be thorough when cleaning. This was my first pick-up and delivery laundry service and I was very impressed! The pick up and delivery are free and the service is reasonably priced. I received my clothes the next day. My clothes were cleaned very well and then they were folded. My sweaters were pressed and hanged on hangers. I was extremely impressed with the service overall and will definitely use it again. I have been using this dry cleaner in Manhattan Valley off and on for 2+ years. My clothes have always been cleaned and laundered properly for the most part. When I have had issue, they quickly fixed it. Once when I was going on vacation and could not get home in time to have my clothes delivered, they brought them to me at 8pm! To my door! That is great service! I have since moved and used the laundry and drycleaner downstairs from my apartment and - no thanks! Bad attitudes, bad service (they make you pay extra to have your bath rugs dried and extra for a terry cloth robe!) and they ruined a hood to my down coat after I told them how to clean it. So I think I need to still use Helen's especially since they will come to where my new apt is. read more

Needed a shirt pressed for the next day, wife took it in Monday along with two others and the shirt was guaranteed to be ready at 7am on Tuesday, store opened at 7:05am and the shirt hadn't even been pressed yet. It took them 20 minutes to press it. Other two items were to be ready at 5pm Tuesday but didn't come back until Wednesday morning. read more

Ugh! I dropped off clothes Thursday morning. They didn't have anything done as promised Friday evening, so I came back the next morning. It was still NOT done. It was just pressing dress clothes. We had to rearrange our whole Saturday to come back by 5:30pm. Since they are closed Sunday. Get your kids, get your wife and run to another cleaners. The whole point of having them iron the clothes is to free up my time, but they took both my money and time. read more

My very expensive mattress pad was ruined; came back with a giant tear and all of the stuffing falling out. Not to mention it was still wet when they wrapped it in a plastic bag to return to me. So disappointing and frustrating--did they think I wouldn't notice that it had been ruined? The least they could have done would have been to tell me and apologize. read more

Think again before you use this business. They picked up an order on Friday and promised to return it on Monday - no problem. We called Monday at 4:30 to ask where it was and were told they would not be able to return it until the next morning. When they delivered it we were told that they did not clean one item as they did not have time. Also the prices are exhorbitant. The man that I spoke with on the phone had no clear explanantion and would not even offer a discount for their errors. Then they called to tell me they thought my check would bounce and wanted cash or a credit card or he would come to our apartment with the police. There was no way I was giving this person my credit card information after the way he had talked to me. If I weren' such a nice person I would have said go ahead...not worth the trouble of having to conitnue to deal with him! read more

Horrible establishment! I had my black suit pants cleaned here and I failed to inspect them until I reached home. About a week or so later, when I was getting ready to wear them, I realized their dryer or pressing iron burned holes in the inner thighs! When I went to speak to the owner about my pants (I even brought them in so they could clearly see they were damaged by his press) he denied fault and didn't even try to make a reasonable accomodation! I know this was their fault, but I was too exhausted to argue with the man. I figured I'd warn others before they made a choice of using this cleaners. I will never return. Hopefully you will follow suit. There are too many good dry cleaners to deal with poor, unprofessional establishments. read more

This is by far the best full service cleaners in the area. The do wash and fold and dry cleaning, next day service easily for wash and fold (not sure about the dry cleaning.) while not the cheapest place around, they take cards, you can pay when you pick up (so many places are pre-pay with cash--not at all reassuring that they won't destroy or lose your clothes) and the staff communicate well. It cost me $21 to have a double sized mattress pad, quilt, and set of sheets cleaned. Not bad considering a place nearby wanted to charge me $12 each for the mattress pad and quilt and then do the sheets by weight.... read more

If I could put a more negative rating I would. Literally the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My local dry cleaner sent leather leggings to be cleaned at Helen's as they advertise as an experienced leather cleaner. The pants came back ruined. I was told my 2 items would be ready on a Friday. 1 was but another was not so I came back Saturday to get both. The 2nd one was still not ready. Once before they promised me an item on a day, and it wasn't ready that day either. On Monday the next business day (they're closed on Sunday) I was told they couldn't do the 2nd item - it was simple sewing and they had done the 1st one but he said "it took 2-3 hours", which I couldn't believe at all, and tailor "didn't want to do it - it was too much work" - I thought that this was very unprofessional - he didn't want to work?? was quoted $30 for it - same as the 1st one - and he said it would be $40 or more. I showed him receipt and said he should honor what was quoted. I was really annoyed that not only I have to go there 3 times, but then something wasn't even done at all because tailor was too lazy?! Plus I should have been told that right away - they could have called me, not over a week later. That's very poor customer service and business practices. read more
