Helen's Haven is a hidden gem in Waialae Kahala! I was in desperate need of massage and did not want to drive far, so naturally I looked to Yelp and found Helen's Haven, literally less than a mile away. I was able to get a same day appointment, within an hour of my call. I booked a 1 hour deep tissue massage. I feel like I've stumbled upon a treasure! Helen's Haven is a very small spa oasis that is personable, clean, serene, peaceful and quite affordable for what you get! My therapist Karlyn was as sweet as can be and have a great deep tissue massage with some much needed stretching. I love that she places peppermint essential oils under the head rest for an added element of relaxation. She also used the use of warm towels at different points in the massage which was lovely. Helen's Haven also has an app that allows you to book appointments, keeps tracks of awards and delivers specials and discounts. You can also refer friends and they will get $20 off and so will you! You literally" float" away from Helen's Haven. Helen gave me her signature Helen's facial and Perfector (skin firming) treatment. I have never felt so soft and smooth!!! While working on my face, my hands had been messaged, wrapped loosely and placed in hand warming mitts. I asked, "What would this accomplish?" At the end of my session my hands felt like "buttah"...This whole treatment really made me feel special, beautiful and so thankful that someone like Helen was so close. She even has her own line of skin care products. I bought her Skin Tech Luminous Stem Cell Serum. It's pricey, but it makes me feel like a $million$. ( The stem cells are generated from Swiss Apples...interesting) Helen's Haven is easy to find and if you are driving there is plenty of free parking. She is in a building behind the Lanikai Juice store near the Kahala Mall. There is a Doggie Day Spa close by. The staff was so nice and kind, they went out of their way to make my daughters and I feel special. I would advise anyone looking for a lovely day spa to check out Helens! If I could give Helen's Haven 100 stars I would! I waited over two weeks to write this review because I wanted to be able to review Helen's skin care products. I have had problems with uneven tone and oily skin. I received my first ever facial on 1 Sep. Helen was patient, gentle and thorough. The facial was outstanding. My skin glowed and felt great. But the best part is that I (and others) notice REAL, VISIBLE results with my skin over the past 2 1/2 weeks using her line of Skin Tech products. I have always been hesitant about facial procedures and products because darker skin can sometimes be prone scarring and discoloration. For six months now, I've been going to Helen's for monthly two hour massages. After a long hiatus of regular exercise, the therapist really helped my body 'recover' from my roving aches and pains. She was really good at determining my 'at the moment' pain at the start of each session and focused on it. I love a good deep tissue massage (often the therapists break a sweat when working on me). Massage therapists are what they are and not mind-readers. Feedback is key to getting what you're paying for or it should be reflective in their tip envelope. The body waxing was a interesting experience as well. The technician was as gentle as possible and communicative as well. The only slightly bad thing about this place is parking. I've been having Helen's signature facials for the past 20 years or so. I don't wear any makeup so what you see is literally what you get. Keeping up on a skin care regimen is not in my nature, but coming to see Helen for my monthly facial is something I gladly upkeep. I have been going to Helen's Haven for almost ten years now and I love it there. I either get their Signature Facial or full body massage or both if it's been one of those weeks. The Signature Facial comes with a shoulder and upper back massage that makes going through the extractions worth it! When you first walk into the treatment room you can pick a scent that will be infused into the facial process which includes cleanser, steaming, extractions, facial massage, mask, the aforementioned upper back and shoulder massage, toner, and moisturizer. Every massage I have had there has been awesome! They have always asked how the pressure was and if it wasn't what I wanted, they would adjust it to what I was comfortable with. I called for a same day appointment today and was offered a 230pm, to my delight Kristina called back and said they could see me at 1130am. When I arrived I was impressed with the clean professional atmosphere and that they had shelves of products I use at home. When I entered the massage room it smelled or relaxing peppermint, nice touch! Tifany was an excellent LMT and offered some great stretching exercises. This is the one luxury that I afford myself other than going to the gym. The ladies here know how to make you feel like a queen and you feel so relaxed after your treatment. For me, Karlyn is the best for facials and massages. She may look tiny but don't let that fool you. She has a lot of strength to give deep tissue massages if you need it. My friend told me she read an alarming review here on Yelp (Feb 9, 2016, by someone using a cryptic name.) Since I refer people frequently I decided to have a look - and I am completely stunned by the rambling tirade by a person who uses a cryptic name. That reviewer must be a competitor or someone with a hidden agenda. Her claims about the facility and staff are simply false. I have had so many different services - Mini facial, Signature facial, Stone facial, Massages, Foot Massages paired with a facial, waxing, and more. I have taken my best friends and good clients here for a special treat. Every visit is a delight, the staff is always courteous and professional. Maybe it's my bad luck, the girl sorry, I don't remember her name witch you can find at the photo second to the left. She ask me way too many personal informations. What an amazing experience!!! Karlyn was my esthetician and she was the best!! I got a mini facial and a massage. She's easy to talk to, professional, and extremely skilled. Brooke was so friendly and welcoming upon arriving to what felt like a haven. The cozy location and room provided during my facial furthered such a relaxing experience! All while even having extractions take place Brooke was very attentive to my skins needs and how to proceed going further to get my skin cleared up from acne, and always made sure I was comfortable.The display of compassion was apparent throughout the entire facial. This is the place for serious skin care. Repair-the-years-of-Hawaii-sun-exposure-damage kind of skin care. Helen's seems to be either for people who are already serious about skin care or people like me who have the "years of damage" issues. It's not about be-pampered-for-some-stress-relief, although it's relaxing enough. The repair treatments are fairly expensive, IMHO, and they're good. In years of flitting around town to various spas when I wanted to feel virtuous like I was taking care of myself, no treatment ever seemed much different than another by a day later. I did one treatment at Helen's and my skin still looked better a week later. I've now done various treatments there & totally trust Helen's recommendations. She steered me from a more-expensive treatment to another that worked great. So if I look at it that way, using my champion shopper's math skills, the treatments at Helen's aren't so expensive. read more

I went to Helen's Haven for a signature facial. I was very disappointed! After reading all the reviews and calling to make the appointment, I was looking forward to a great treatment. In addition, I was really hopeful that this would be a great place because of all the other services they offer like massage, botox, waxing etc. Wow! what a great idea for a one stop beauty shop! I called to make my appointment and asked about the facials. I was told the that Signature Facial was great and included a neck, shoulder and arm massage during the mask. On the phone I was told it was a 90 minute facial, in the office I was told it was 75 minutes - ok no problem, but then my aestitician wasn't even in the room for a good 10-15 minutes of it! I kept thinking to myself "I am not paying for a facial so that I can sit in a room with cream on my face - alone". The woman who treated me, WALKED OUT OF THE ROOM 3 TIMES!!!!! I have never experienced such a thing! In my opinion, an aestitician should be touching you throughout the entire treatment, Not walk in and out. Aside from that, there was very little facial to the treatment. She did a great shoulder massage - but very little of anything else. Then, it seemed that she was emphasizing all the products at the end. I am extremely disappointed. - My advice, if you want a facial go elsewhere. read more

I've been going to Helen's for facials and expensive treatments for 1 year. I have been pleased with the service and the estheticians. However; after being disappointed again recently with Helen, I am highly considering two other salons. For all the $$$$ I have spent on treatments, still to this day (recent) when I enter the salon, I always say hello to Helen and she barely acknowledges me. She doesn't call me by my name, she usually talks in the reception area about her issues or just talks to the staff. If I am going to continue to use Helen's for my services, I hope she reads this and will change her attitude. She is certainly not very professional or friendly. As a business owner, if I were to greet my customers/clientele (whether I knew them for years or just met them) I would lose business if I emulated Helen. read more

i got pdo threads in my eyebrows and it was $500. not impressed. at all. I don't think she was either. She looked at the before and after pictures and couldn't even tell them apart (and said that to me.) The fact that she still charged me $500 for doing something she KNEW wasn't good- is shocking. (the front desk lady was extremely unwelcoming and cold to top it off.) if you want to see a difference and get your moneys worth i'd recommend going somewhere else. read more

This is my first visit to Helen's Haven and just loved it! Since this was my first visit I opted for their mini facial, it was about one hour long. Helen took off every bit of makeup then cleaned, brushed, used a steamer for about 5 minutes and extracted all of the sebum that has been collecting in my pores. She said that it was pretty clean, but I'm sure that she was being polite. She is really very easy to talk to. She will educate you on the products and services but none of that excessive pressuring. I'll be returning next month for her signature facial which adds a massage to my arms and hands or maybe I'll try her triple action facial! read more

I started going to Helen's Haven about 7 months ago. Prior to this, I would go once in a while to a place on Ward Avenue. I was interested in finding a place closer to home (Hawaii Kai) that would also offer medical cosmetic services that I was in need of ASAP. Based on a glowing recommendation from my hairdresser Bonnie at The Hair Loft, I decided to give Helen's Haven a try. I started by seeing Dr. Val (who is the sweetest person) for botox. From there I went on to get Venus Freeze, filler and Intense Pulse Light treatments. After that, I started to get facials and the Perfector Lifting treatment from Helen (yay!). I had lash extensions done by Ronnie. I received many compliments on how nice they looked. Even my husband noticed them! I am so happy with the results that I now go every month religiously. I got the best 90 minute full body massage from Linda. I told her my problem areas was my shoulder and upper back, so the massage started out with a hot compress on my back for about 10 minutes while she worked on other areas. The room was low lit with soft music. Linda was very thorough and took her time on my target spots. I could feel her pressure on my trigger points as she worked it. She also massaged under my foot which many massage parlors tend to skip over, unless you specify a foot massage. She used light oil that was not overbearing and not as "oily" if that makes sense. At the end of the appointment, she used warm wash cloths to wipe the remaining oils. She also gave me some pointers to relieve the stress from my trigger points so it would not build as quickly. On a separate day I also got an eye brow wax from Helen. She did a nice job re-shaping my brow. The massage parlor is very clean decorated with lots of beauty products. It feels like a beauty store with a spa. Parking is free; space may be tight if you go later in the day. They share the parking space along with restrooms with other tenants in the small building. There is free street parking and more free parking in the adjacent building by LaniKai Juice/Assagio. read more

So I've been meaning to write this review for sometime, but better late than never. A few years ago I moved to Hawaii and was experiences the worst outbreak of acne in my life. Not even as a teenager did I have acne this bad. I was desperate to get it cleared up, and found Helen's Haven online. I made an appointment and I was immediately impressed. They clearly knew what they were doing. I followed their recommendations and my face started clearing up. I even switched to the Gabriel Correctives line of products. I was amazed at the results I got! Then once the acne cleared up they turned their attention to the scarring. After several glycolic acid peels, my skin began to look the best it has ever. They then switched my products again to something more adequate again to the Epionce line, which I still use today. After moving away from Hawaii, I still hold all other estheticians to the bar that Helen and her crew set. Thanks to them, I went from horrible cystic acne to receiving compliments all the time on my skin. I even shocked a make artist who asked if I was wearing make up and I said no. This is my first facial since moving to the island. A girlfriend recommended me and I trust her recommendations so I decided to give it a shot! I LOVE and appreciate that there's ample parking in front of Kahala Pet Hospital so that was awesome right off the bat! When you walked into the spa it's very quite and clean so great first impression there. I scheduled the Helen's Signature Facial service and my aesthetician was Tiffany and she was very friendly, gentle, yet she applied a NICE amount of pressure during the massages which helped in getting some knots out of my neck and back from working out. CAUTION: The extractions are uncomfortable but that is definitely a necessary evil and is to be expected. : ) Tiffany did a wonderful job and seemed to have done a very thorough job with the extractions while inflicting the least amount of pain - thank you! LOL I also purchased the SkinTech Luminous Stem Cell Serum. I've only been using it for 2 days but loving the texture of the product and how quickly it absorbs so far! My skin looked very bright and smooth after the facial and it also didn't break me out (and I have VERY sensitive skin). I just recently visited this place and did the Mother's Day special. The massage was okay, but the facial, I wouldn't really call it that. The package, even at a discount for May was over priced for what you receive. I've never had a facial before where the steaming was over 10 minutes. It was definitely a new experience.
