But let me tell you this... it's definitely worth the drive!!!! If you know me and my husband are OBSESSED with the Munsters. They only show the house by Appointments only! We're so grateful my in-laws took care of that for us. The owner gave us the tour of this beautiful house and I must say that my favorite room in the entire house has got to be the memorabilia room. I'm so jealous of the entire Munster Collection!! It's pretty fascinating that Grandpa (Herman's Father in law) visited this Munster Mansion before he passed, and also one of the actresses that played Marilyn, also visited too! We had such an awesome experience.. we can't wait to go back next time !!! Thank you to the owner for the great service and hospitality. He personally researches every piece of information for the tour, he doesn't just go by hearsay. I loved the local history and folklore. Doug is a native and you can tell how proud he is of his town. The tour was two hours but it went by so fast- I was so wrapped up in listening to Doug speak. There is a lot of walking (hence walking tour being in the title) but we stopped every block or so- we never went a far distance without some story or fact being told. Tours are year round and on Saturday nights only. If his website doesn't have your date listed, you can email him- he might be able to accommodate. I think this is a tour a whole family would enjoy! If you book a tour, I recommend getting to Waxahachie early and making a day of it. There are so many great shops in the square as well as great restaurants!

Well.. if you…read moreare looking for a GOOD haunted house, worth the 45+ mile drive, for the love of God do NOT waste your time on the Texas Scaregrounds. Overall it was so crappy that I want to call the management and demand not only my ticket money back, but the five bucks we paid to park PLUS the gas money to drive way the hell out to Kennedale, TX. Who knows where that is, anyhow? First, like I said, it was a LONG drive out there. Google maps sucks, but that's another story. We drove out there, approached the haunted house and were a little surprised to see it was a bunch of warehouses. I mean, I've been to GOOD haunted houses that were warehouses... but based on the reviews, we expected a little more. So...We pulled in and were told it was five dollars to park. Okay. So we paid that, like the good little sheep that we are. Parked, waited in line for a good long while and bought our 25 dollar tickets (28 without the 3 dollar coupon you can print from their website). First we went to the Chaos haunted house. It was the best one at the Texas Scaregrounds by far. I, personally, am pretty wimpy, and easily startled, and it was okay. We enjoyed it well enough. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there. We went to the Asylum next, and it was not as interesting or as startling. It was fairly dull. Then... we went on the haunted hayride. Okay, so the employees TOLD us that it was the most 'family friendly' attraction. But...really, what they meant that it was quite possibly the most pathetic thing I have ever experienced at a "haunted" attraction ever. We stood in line to RIDE the stupid hayride probably three times as long as we were actually ON it. I don't even know how to describe it other than incredibly boring, pathetic and a huge, huge waste of time. It was like a bad joke. Worse than a bad joke. Seriously. Painfully bad. Three people in masks following a trailer being pulled by a suburban does not really make a haunted hayride, sorry. After that pathetic experience, we figured we might as well try and squeeze out a little more for our wasted money and went to the "nightmares" haunted house. The only nightmare was the stupid line. It was really boring, and rather short. I can't even be bothered to write much about it. All I can REALLY say is we will NEVER waste our time going to Texas Scaregrounds again. I rather go to Screams and I am really not even impressed by Screams. Next year, hopefully we can find something to erase our sad memories of the WORST HAUNTED ATTRACTION EVER!

As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by a guest book for sign-in. While browsing, I noticed they sell heart-shaped locks for $10 and quickly realized they have a dedicated "love lock" fence outside! It was such an exciting find. There is a shop within a block that does professional engraving, but the museum provides Sharpies at the desk, which worked out perfectly for us. It ended up being a total "core memory" moment for my husband and me. The exhibits themselves are fascinating--I especially loved looking at the antique equipment and the old-fashioned phone booth. It's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon if you're looking for a bit of local history and a charming, personal experience. Definitely worth a visit!

This wasn't a planned visit to the museum, we didn't even know it existed. But it turned out to be the highlight of our day. We learned so much about Texas history, and so lots of fascinating pieces from way back. For example, we saw some fans from the 1700s, and old telephone switchboard, so many artifacts. The old photos of people walking the same streets we were on was fascinating. We saw clothing and furniture and dishes from 1800s an early 1900s. We completely lost track of time in there. The museum runs solely on donations, so definitely stop by if you're in the area. Kudos to the people that keep this place going!!

When you pull up it's literally just a house with a sign outside with the name on it. When you walk in the place you are hit with an instant animal stench. Not complaining...I mean I get it. To the left was a small souvenir store and the right was an room with a cash register and a table. This room lead into a kitchen where food is prepared for the animals/reptiles. There is also a bird in a cage that lives in there. He is loud and loves attention. Down the hall there is a gender neutral restroom and then the room that holds all the animals/reptiles. The room was small and had many habitats inside. I must say the selection of things to see was awesome! And the presentation of feeding the dragons, lizards, snakes and everything else was totally cool. My three year old loved it!! She was able to help feed and pet many of the reptiles. Just a tip...bring a bug catcher and you could walk away with a walking stick bug! We were bummed when we couldn't take one home. Happy Yelping!

I couldn't believe it when my employer told us that they were taking us to drive exotic cars for a…read morecorporate event. As a long time car enthusiast, it was right up my alley. We drove up from Houston, but it was very worth it. The track is on a hillside and there is plenty of elevation change that makes the track much more interesting than flat tracks here. In our group, the drivers' physical builds were as different as the vehicle cockpits. But we were given ample opportunity to sit in all of them to pick out one that we felt was most comfortable. A few others in our group were set on driving the GT3 so I let them have at it (and still beat them.). I drove the Huracan and the 488. The instructors are excellent-- all former racing drivers. They work you up to speed as your skills allow, and push you do your best. The track is tight and challenging, and yes, the cars are full power. Top speeds are limited by the track, your skill, the insurance you purchase, and your sense of self-preservation. I looked up pricing after the event and found it to be very reasonable. A coworker and I had so much fun that we are planning to come back on our own for more practice. Thanks guys!
