Every time I need a part they never have it in stock. There is one long haired guy that always sits at the end of the desk. Whenever I ask him a question he either seems disinterested or can't seem to answer my question appropriately. Would highly recommend going elsewhere read more

Hellebuyck's always has the parts I need to fix my outdoor power equipment, and the saved my butt between the last two big snowstorms when the paddle on my snow blower cracked due to the cold. I'd rather get that local, since I trust them to make sure it fits. I've also bought equipment from them and had service done. I might not be able to spell or pronounce the name, but I always know they'll fix me up at a decent price. read more

Went to return a replacement wheel for my lawn mower as they gave me the wrong part. Even with pictures of the model number. Wouldn't take it back as they said it was used after it was scratch as I tried to put it on then realized it was not the correct part. Store tag was still attached to the part and even so they made the excuse of not my problem. Store help was a joke. read more

I am rehabbing an old canoe trailer. I spent the entire day trying to get help with the tires and getting them mounted. I went to several other places and was treated indifferently. I walked into hellebuycks and they greeted me with a smile, got a manager to look at my problem. He came out right away, fixed my issue then refused my money. What a classy group of people. I don't get the horrible reviews. I've been in here several times and have had wonderful service each time. Just recently I bought a new chainsaw. The sales guy helping me was awesome. I explained which model I was interested in, we talked about that and we talked about the model up with the easy start. Not necessarily as an up sell, but as information so I could make an educated decision as to which was best for me. He was awesome. I got the saw home and she wouldn't start. I went right back up, my sales guy helped me out, the tech in the back was awesome as well. 10 minutes later I was back out the door to take on my project and it worked perfect. No fuss at all, just great service. I highly recommend this store. read more

It's unfortunate that happy customers usually don't do reviews. They are happy and don't bother. On the other hand, if you've had a bad time, you are more than likely to punish the company with these negative reviews. I have purchased a full line of Stihl products, two Toro lawn mowers and two Toro snow blowers from Hellebuycks in the last five years. Have had nothing to complain about. They have treated me much to my satisfaction. Look at the dates of the negative comments shown under "Recent Reviews". two reviews: 6 years old, one review 8 years old. I've seen the same with Filippas restaurant 4.4 rating that should be 1.0 based on their new pricing and lousy menu. Reviews hurt the seller and the buyer all based on when they were written. Keep them with a year and the results will be very much more accurate.....enough of my rambling read more

I do not agree. Your $40 fee was not confusing. When you charge it is not going to make a difference. You misled me. You made me believe that it was possible to repair the snowblower for under $125. You are dishonest. I understand now that you knew that the parts required to fix this type of issue would cost much more, and you did not even bother to quote the starter even though I asked you to... You knew in advance that the parts would cost (because how much you charge for them) more than the blower is worth. You are not repairing BMWs!!! In my last review I indicated that I do not like being talked down to, and you are doing it again. Other customers and readers of these reviews understand this, even if you pretend not to. I agreed to pay the $40, and I paid it. If you were a good businessman you would have given me an idea of the cost to repair ahead of time. You would have given me the estimates I asked for. You would not have even tried to justify 80/hr on a machine that costs 400 new...You didn't even offer $40 off a new snowblower. You took the $40 and you treat people like they are stupid. You didn't even try to help me. I did not want to fix my own snowblower. My hope is that at least one person reads my review and doesn't get taken by you. Enjoy my $40 bucks, it cost you customers. 04/21/15 - My MTD lawn tractor was running rough, so took it in for tune up and spring maintenance (blades, oil change, belts, etc.). Issues w/store A) Told me they would call and tell me the issue & repair costs, but never did, but charged me for additional repairs & parts. B) Problem was not fixed on my arrival. They said they had to do more tune ups, even though they had said it was fixed and ready for pick up 6 days previous. C) The problem appeared fixed after they did more tune ups, but problem returned after engine cooled down 2 hrs later. D) Store stated issue was "worn" carboerator and would need to be fixed. No mention of this issue before repairs were done or upon pick up. E) IF the carb is actually worn, I would expect a quality shop to inform the owner and give them the option of fixing it or not. Instead this shop, decided it was not worth mentioning at all. Their excuse was it would cost $350 which the tractor was not worth. Again, would like to point out, if this was true, I should have been told and given the option. Overall, I would not recommend or trust them as I feel ripped off. read more

I've stopped by multiple times and have had mixed results as far as friendliness of the counter staff, however, they have always steered me in the right direction and offered advice and assistance when necessary. My last visit was what prompted this review. I had a carburetor issue on my toro snowblower I had purchased there over 10 years ago. The salesman offered up a suggestion to try a carburetor rebuild before I shelled out for the purchase of a new carb. They could have easily sold me a new carb for $110 more than the rebuild kit, but talked me into the rebuild kit instead. It did the trick too. I'll keep coming back. read more

Twice now I have gone in to purchase a piece of equipment, once a year ago and now just this morning. Both times I stood there by the mowers and trimmers for 20 minutes without even being acknowledged while 3-4 sales people stood there drinking coffee and talking. The first time, I left after 20 minutes on my lunch hour and made my high dollar purchase at Weingartz. I told myself I would never go there again. Today I swallowed my pride and decided to give them another try. This morning, same thing happened. I wondered around the trimmers and mowers for 20 minutes while 4 salesman walked in and out and stood there drinking coffee and never even acknowledged me or asked if I needed help.The one guy came in the door and looked straight at me and then walk to the customer counter and began chatting with the guys and laughing and joking around. Even though they are only a 1/2 mile away from me, I will never go there again. Poor customer relations for someone who needed a little help buying a mower and trimmer. I guess they don't need the money. I will always drive the xtra few miles now to go to Weingartz. Prices are the same at Weingartz and and they are very eager to help you out with everything. This is for the Hellebuycks in Shelby Twp, MI terrible customer service. i bought my rototiller in may 2017 used it twice in may then i let the gas run out as i usually do with all my gas equipment's got it all cleaned up and put it away. i took it out last week to do my final tilling put fresh gas in it and it would not start so i called they came and picked it up, few days later they call to tell me and said it was my fault that i left the gas in it and that's the reason it did not start. i explain to the guy that i indeed let the gas run out as i do all my equipment's. but he kept telling me no way it was bad gas not the company fault. i spoke to Dave the manger what a terrible attitude for a manger he had he said it had bad gas. it cost me 56.00 dollars but it cost them a good customer and will never recommend them to any one. i will try to discourage people in my community from go there. read more

I needed a new snow blower and called around to different Toro dealers to get prices and options. Chris at Hellebuycks was friendly, answered all my questions, and offered to have two snow blowers ready for me to look at when I arrived - which he did. Chris explained both Toro options to me thoroughly and once I decided which one I wanted he showed me how to start it and maintain it. He put oil & gas in it, and before I left he even filled out my warranty papers! It was a great buying experience and I will be recommending Chris and the Hellebuycks team to my friends. read more

I had dealt with Hellebuycks before to purchase a snow blower and once to have it repaired and thought they were pretty good. I brought my lawnmower in to be repaired for leaking oil. They said it needed a gasket and would fix it for $160. I said OK. I took it home and 5 minutes after I started using it I could see it was still leaking. Something they could have spotted had they taken the time to run it before turning it back over to me. I made another 20 mile round trip from my house to Hellebuycks and dropped it off. They called and said it was leaking from the same place as before but it could not be fixed because the engine was warped, but they would put my repair costs towards a new mower. Fair enough. I settled on what I wanted over the phone, a Snapper model that starts up with battery power. They said the only one they had of that type was a floor model. I said I would take that one and to prep it, and I would be in to purchase it the next day. When I arrived the next day it was still on the floor. Now they said they would give it a little gas and start it. They then told me that it would not start because the battery was too weak. Just take it home, plug the battery in a few hours and it would start. I did that and it still would not start. Another 20 mile round trip to Hellybuycks. They had to pressurize the gas tank to get it to start, and claimed that the first time you start it there can be a bubble in the gas line that clogs it up. So it never was the battery, but there screw up cost me more time and a second unnecessary round trip. The first time after I actually used the mower I noticed the battery which is near the handle was hanging out with only one of the two screws holding it in. The speedy nuts used were either the wrong size for the screws used or they were stripped. This was something they should have caught during the prep. I fixed it myself by replacing the speedy nuts and screws. The next time I went to mow, an item on this mower called the "maintenance reminder" fell off the mower. Again, it had not been installed properly. I think customers deserve better than this. I am not sure if Hellebuycks is markedly worse then other power lawn equipment shops, but they certainly were a disappointment to me. read more
