Found Hello Nori inside Richmond Center, a mall in No 3 Road. We found the concept interesting so we try it out. The menu has 3 set menus to choose from. You can also do individual orders but we opted for set 3. For 6 different hand rolls, all served one after you consume one they make your next roll. As a result, each roll you eat has a fresh crunchy nori and warm rice. The 6 kinds we had were negitoro, yellow tail, king salmon, Hokkaido scallop, snow crab and truffle lobster. All of them were good, my favorite ones are: Hokkaido scallop and truffle lobster. You think it's not enough but you actually feel it's perfect and just enough for your meal. Good service. We had our first hand roll experience and it was so good. My wife and I each had the set of 6 hand rolls. Each one was do good. They all look alike from the outside, but each one had a different taste, texture and flavor. All the fish and seafood tasted fresh, served with warm sushi rice and rolled like a cigar with a crispy seaweed wrapper. Each one was about 3-4 bites dipped in wasabi soy sauce. Our server was fantastic. We didn't get her name, but she's from Ontario. She's been there almost a year. She's very professional, but cheery, warm and friendly. We love how the hand rolls are served by the chefs who prepare them and done at well unhurried pace---always keeping a watchful eye on the guest. Dined at Hello Nori for lunch on a recent trip to Vancouver and it was pretty good! I'm starting to frequent hand roll bars more, and I would say this one was decent. This location is inside the CF Richmond Center mall. My party of 4 was able to get seated immediately on a Saturday around 12:45pm. Once seated, there will be a paper where you can individually mark your order at each person's seat. I opted to get the 6 hand roll set along with the salmon aburi oshi. The salmon oshi was very meh IMO, but some others in my party liked it. It was kind of tasteless to me, and the servers suggested not having it with soy sauce, but my friends said it actually tasted better with soy sauce. As for the hand rolls, they were pretty good; my favorites were the toro and the truffle lobster, which is more unique and not something I usually see at other hand roll bars. Service was generally quite good, with our waters and ginger being refilled. We were also offered an explanation of the menu when we were seated as it was our first time dining here. However I feel like the wait time between rolls was a bit of a let down. Similar to some other hand roll bars I've been to, it seems like the order in which parties were served was kind of random. For example, other parties would get 2-3 hand rolls in a row before we got one. Also, even within my party, 2 people got 2 hand rolls in a row before I even got one. It was a bit strange and I wish the service was a bit more balanced. My friend and I were hungry and wanted a little snack so we went to hello nori after shopping. This is my first time at the Richmond location and I like that it's so convenient. It's great for a quick bite in the middle of your shopping. I was happy with the service and the handrolls were really fresh. I love the crispy seaweed as well. I was looking for a place for dinner in Richmond Centre. There was a long queue in other restaurants so I came into this place. This restaurant serves good quality Japanese sushi hand rolls. I order the 6 piece hand rolls set. The server prepared the rolls one by one in front of the customers. The ingredients were fresh and the seaweed sheets were crispy. Personally I think it is slightly pricy but the quality is good. So it is good to come here once in a while. read more

Just recently came back from Japan, we already craving for sushi. Went to the Richmond location of Hello Nori. Very chic and zen looking and we love the booth seating. The hand roll set combo is what we came here for. I think the concept is pretty good and execution nice as well. Crispy seaweed and warm rice is on point and the progression of the flavours from lighter (tuna) to richer (snow crab and lobster) was a good idea. $30 for 6 rolls was actually very filling and reasonable price. In a recent promotion, Hello Nori had given away some vouchers, which I finally go to use in Richmond. The location is just across from Uniqlo in Richmond Centre mall. It not a big space, but the space is quite incredible. The wood installation that runs along to the ceiling to the back wall completely dominates the look of the space - beautiful and impressive. Even the quality of the chopsticks impressed me.. We arrived at open and were immediately seated. The staff asked if we had been to the restaurant before, and we said no, so they kindly explained the concept that everything is made and delivered one hand roll at a time so you can eat each one fresh. You make your order by filling out a form. I ordered one of the hand rolls sets and just as described, I was given one hand roll at a time which meant the nori was still crisp which made each bite that much better. Very enjoyable. Staff were very friendly and made us feel very comfortable and welcome. Considering it's not a full service restaurant (you pay at the register after your meal), I felt that they actually provided better service than most places. I should note that I've tried Hello Nori twice before. The first time was via UberEats, but because it's not fresh when delivered, it really tasted like any other sushi place, so I wasn't impressed. The second time was at the Japan Market, so the hand rolls were good, but without the high level service and in a tight space, wasn't as enjoyable. But having tried it now in a nicely designed space supported by great service, I finally understand the draw of Hello Nori. I would be happy to return. read more

Every time I visit Vancouver, I always make sure to come here. Nestled in the corner of the mall across Uniqlo, it's quite unassuming until you start eating the hand rolls. Each roll is made in front of you with all of the fish tasting super fresh. My favorite is the truffle lobster roll - you smell the truffle aroma at the same time as you eat the luscious lobster meat. Service was totally spot on and they went above and beyond. They initially forgot to start making my order but they made it up to me with the salmon oshi and edamame brought out by the head chef. I was sipping on the Hello Ocha drink so it didn't feel like I was waiting too long but their effort to make up for the initial wait was super appreciated. What a pleasant surprise! This hand roll bar is tucked away in a quiet corner of the Richmond Mall. We came for their late night happy hour. Service was excellent: attentive, friendly, and efficient. We were promptly seated, checked on, waters refilled, hand rolls served in quick (but at a proper enjoyable eating pace) succession. Quality of the food was exceptional. I was delighted to find this level of sushi skill in a shopping mall. The octopus hand roll was the highlight of the night. Our chef grilled this tentacle in front of us with TWO blazing blowtorches. So soft, not chewy, and just enough bite for texture. I would love to go back for another one! The other items we tried were all off the happy hour menu. We got the BOGO oshi which just melted in my mouth. So good! Google taught me that Oshi sushi (Oshizushi) is a type of sushi from Osaka, a part of the Kansai region. It means "pressed sushi" or is also called "box sushi". Our sake was served in a masu box, which is a very nice touch. The sake is poured into the glass until it intentionally overflows into the wooden box to signify the generosity of the host. You then drink from the glass, and then when your glass is empty you drink the sake left in the box! What a lovely experience at Hello Nori. I had a terrible hand roll experience in downtown Seattle, and an OK experience at a different restaurant in San Diego. This place is #1 in my book! read more

I always stop by Hello Nori when visiting Canada! We love the date night vibes since the lighting is dark and the food is super yummy! We normally get the 6-hand roll set and a cocktail which leaves us pretty full. Pre-tip we pay just under $100 which is pretty worth it for a nice date night. I'm not sure if it's just this location, but our rolls were PACKED with filling. Compared to the downtown location, the filling ratio is wayyy better here. Plus, this location has a waitlist and is in the mall, so we were able to walk around while waiting. read more

Given the number of years Hello Nori has been open, there have been many occasions to go but I have yet to go...until today. Now that a location has opened in my hood at the most convenient mall...I knew I had to check it out. The restaurant has a very clean interior with an open kitchen and various bar seats arranged in a large circle. I like the concept that everything is being prepared fresh and in front of your eyes so you know the full process. The servers and chefs were all really kind in taking and preparing the order. We were recommended the 5 piece handroll which included negitoro, yellowtail, scallop, crab, and truffle lobster. This one is probably the most value if you enjoy all of these ingredients. The handrolls were all prepared on the spot and delivered to your plate. I was surprised at how crispy the seaweed was! The ingredients are fresh and the rice is the perfect level of warmth. My favourite was definitely the truffle lobster, the name is exactly what you get and the portions are decent. I was hesitant about this place because it felt very expensive for sushi that I could get elsewhere but I understand the time and quality that goes into preparing everything fresh and in front of customers for them to immediately enjoy. This place is great for a quick snack or when you're in the mood for a lighter meal. If you're feeling famished, it may be more beneficial to seek out a meal elsewhere unless you're really craving that crispy seaweed handroll. My friends and I were going to skip dinner but Hello Nori just opened at the Richmond Center so I had to try it! It was my first time but my friends had dined at other locations before. It was a late dinner so there wasn't a wait. Whenever I get hand rolls, I always have to opt for the 6 hand roll set! I definitely love trying all the fish. Usually the scallop is my favorite but I think the toro and yellowtail here were so good. Everything tasted fresh and buttery. The rice was cooked perfectly and paired well with the nori. Service was good and they were very accommodating as one of my friends changed her order from a 6 hand roll set to 4. The restaurant was very spacious. Delicious hand rolls in a very modern space - however not very family friendly. We came to visit Richmond and found Hello Nori by chance. We got on the waitlist before we arrived online which was nice. I was not expecting all bar seating - which would have been fine if it was just adults but we had a toddler with us. Service was extremely helpful especially when we had a lot of questions about the menu. I wish their menu was more detailed - there was no indication of which hand rolls were raw vs cooked and our server was not really sure either. I know sushi lovers mostly come here but if someone in your party has dietary restrictions that might be helpful to know. I felt like the bar stools were really uncomfortable personally and I was worried about my kid falling off the whole time - which detracted from the overall eating experience. The food itself was amazing - I have never had hand rolls with such crisp nori, high quality sushi rice, and fresh seafood. Finally had a chance to try this place. It is a new location in Richmond and located inside of the Richmond Center. The decoration is really modern with wavy roof sailing, creating an open space. The menu is simple, with three different set menus to choose from, Aburi Oshi Sushi, and some special single hand rolls to choose from. You can also do add ons with veggies to any hand rolls. They are famous for the crispy seaweed wrap, which every hand roll is made out of fresh roasted seaweed. It needs to be tasted within 5 minutes. We ordered some 5-hand rolls, including toro, yellow tail, Hokkaido scallop, snow crab, and truffle lobster. I also ordered a spicy bluefin tuna hand roll, which was very tasty. Our server introduced herself first, and after we decided what we are ordering, she started making the rolls for us. She timed it really well so we could enjoy every one fresh. The only thing I didn't really like is that there was a manager / supervisor staff kept rushing us at the beginning of the order. We had four people so it took us some time to figure out what we want. She kept checking in and asking if we were ready, which was annoying. I mean, the restaurant was pretty empty on a week day, what's the rush for? I understand that it's bar service, however, that's just the style of the restaurant, the guest shouldn't be rushed to make a decision, especially if it was their first time. Was excited to try this hand roll spot in Richmond BC. This restaurant is inside the mall. I've been to other hand roll only spots before and this one was just average to me at best. The rice was cooked well but not seasoned at all and lacked flavor. Ordered the 6 roll combo, each of the rolls that I had were not very impressive. The crab hand roll specifically had a very lemon citrus flavor. I hope it was not to hide any of the fishiness. What I found particularly odd was a server came by for drink orders and said that he would be our server but then disappeared after dropping off the water for the remainder of our dining experience. The hostess and the sushi chefs preparing the hand rolls were the main service providers and were very attentive. The interior ambiance was modern and clean. I'm really happy they finally opened this Hello Nori location in Richmond Centre. Similar to the Robson location, the decor is minimalist and sleek, and features bar seating where customers can look into the "kitchen" area where the chefs prepare the handrolls in front of you. Even though it's newly opened, it gets very busy during lunch or dinner, especially on the weekend. They don't take reservations, so plan accordingly and arrive early. However, the turnover is quite fast as they serve the food promptly. I usually get the 4-roll combo ($23), but have also had the salmon oshi and ebi oshi. The rolls are made fresh in front of you, featuring a crispy seaweed, warm rice, and filling of your choice. My favourite is the King salmon handroll, which has sesame flavouring in it. The salmon oshi and ebi oshi are pretty good value as you get 3 pieces for $8. The boxes are pre-made, and they torch it fresh when you order with a charcoal stick. These are pretty delicious, but obviously can't compare to similar oshi at Miku, Green Leaf, or Suika, for example. The Hello Ocha sparkling tea alcoholic drink, made by Please! Beverage Co., is also so refreshing and delicious and really pairs well with the handrolls. Unfortunately each can comes at the steep price of $9. Service is fast and attentive. Water, ginger, and wasabi gets refilled before you ask. The washrooms there are also super nice, I only wish there were paper towels. At the end of your meal, you get your bill and you take it to the cashier at the front to pay. Unlike at the Robson location, they won't add a mandatory 16% tip so you can feel free to enter what you like on the terminal. I have a feeling I'll be back many more times in the future! read more
