    Beef specialty sushi roll
    Tiffany H.

Attentive staff and great food. It's a small restaurant so it gets filled up pretty quickly. I had a miso soup and one of the newer beef special sushi rolls. It was delicious and tasted fresh I hope they keep it on the menu. I loved the serving of green tea when I sat down. Will have to keep this place in mind the next time I visit Richmond!

It was my second visit here and we tried some of their lunch sets. They're pretty good value and you get a little bit of everything! I previously tried their chicken kaarage and a few rolls and everything was delicious.

Sushi was very fresh, and the entire arrangement was like food art. Foodies that like to take pictures will enjoy all the settings. We had the Myomi Special dinner and A Little Bit of Everything with some Uni Nigiri. Everything was excellent and the small dishes had unique and very fresh flavors! Service was very attentive and friendly. Ambiance is clean, tidy, simple modern Japanese with bright Jazz music in the background. Will come back whenever I am in the area!!

It's our first time here, and it's such a cute place to have some authentic sushi. I wanted something simple and authentic Japanese food, unfortunately a lot of places have added some fancy stuff which I don't like. The place is located in a small strip mall on garden city, with a decent space. Parking is a little tight as there's limited parking spots. We were lucky that when we got a parking spot. When we got in, a group people were leaving, so we were able to get a table right away. They have some nice selection on its menu. We picked two special dinner sets, one is the Stay for the Oshi, and the other is Myomi dinner. Both were really good and tasty. The Oshi was a full size one, with 3 pieces of nigiri. The tuna carpaccio was very fresh, I really like the sauce came with it. Myomi dinner set had a ten pieces of sashimi, California roll and 3 pieces of nigiri as well. Both came with tempura, miso soup and Ebi sunomono. The portion of the dinner set is pretty generous, and we all enjoyed it. Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the chef even greeted to us as we were leaving. I would definitely come back again to try something else on their menu.

We came for lunch on a Thursday and were the first ones in. We got the Myomi lunch box ($19.95) and the chicken lunch box ($20.95). Both were pretty big and came with tempura Between the 2 the Myomi lunch box is more filling as it has more carbs (in the rice and noodles). The tempura is really light and crispy. Nothing is over flavored. The sashimi itself was not of the best quality but for this price and the variety of everything it's not bad. The chicken was okay. Overall for the price the quality and presentation of the food is not bad. The service wasn't the most attentive but I'm fine with that. The food came out really fast and they came and refilled the tea quite a few times.

I used to have the impression that there are many Japanese restaurants in Richmond but over 95% of them the quality and authenticity are just so-so. There were a few authentic Japanese restaurants near Steveston but not so impressive to me in my recent visits. However in my recent visits to this restaurant, the meal sets exceeded my expectation. No matter the side dishes or the main course or the nigiri sushi, it was a journey of enjoyment till the end. Service was good and it didn't take long time to wait for the foods. The only thing on the minus side is, perhaps due to the space is limited, it was noisy as many customers were talking loudly. I measured the noisy level and it was over 80 dB. I do hope the owner can try to remind the customers to be considerate to the others.

Hidden gem here! I love the price to portion ratio. Reasonable pricing for the fattest pieces of sashimi. The portion is so big it feels like you're eating a whole filet from the grocery store! The sashimi is fresh and amazing quality! The staff is so wonderful! They are so hard working and attentive. The waitress held a spot for my party when they were super busy and it made my night since we were already turned down by another sushi restaurant (I came on a very busy weekend in Vancouver). and the sushi chef came out to help us when there was a huge rush and the waitresses were preoccupied. Great service!

Miso soup with seaweed and soft tofu

Hidden gem on Blundell and Garden City. It's not fair that I didn't discover it until recently from its 4+ star rating! It's an authentic Japanese restaurant. The food was definitely a 5-star. I will go again based on my first impression. The service was also great as they did what they could with the seating situation since I didn't have a reservation. I had one of their signature (starred) Special Dinners: Stay for the Oshi. How pleasant was the presentation! It raised up my appetite even more. They used premium and fresh ingredients. The portion might be too big for an average girl. But I could manage to finish it all! Maybe I was too hungry! Plus I wanted to finish it while it was fresh. The core of this dish is oshi. I have to say that even the side dishes are extraordinary. - The miso soup was misoey and generous with seaweed and soft tofu. - The ebi (shrimp) sunomono was cool and very refreshing. It was balanced with sweet and acidic flavour in the soup. Again, they were generous with the shrimp. - The prawn and veggie tempura had a thin and crispy batter. The prawn was tender inside the crispy layer. They used my fav pumpkin and yam. - The tuna carpaccio was so fresh and lightly seared perfectly. - The nigiri sushi (salmon, tuna, prawn) were good without too much of a surprise. They were ordinary, but delicate and fresh. - The salmon oshi was so delicious! They melt in my mouth. The salmon has the perfect fatty portion that goes so well with the specialty sauce and pickled jalapeño on top. You would want to have one bite after another! - Lastly, the seasonal fruit, orange, completed a balanced meal. Reservation is highly recommended as it's a cozy restaurant. It was a weekday evening, and they were packed around 7. There is free parking within the strip mall.

Went to visit this spot with my best friend and we loved the service as well as the food. I don't normally like sushi enough to go out of my way but this spot is definitely an exception to that! It's a small beautiful location and we didn't have to wait to be seated. https://www.instagram.com/p/C8pvTsaybsU/?igsh=MXVhdmI2aGdzbjhsOA==

I heard great things from family and friends so I dropped by to try their Myomi Lunch set. The presentation was fantastic and it was good value considering that you get several nigiri and oshi sushi. That is in addition to several pieces of tempura! Food was served quickly and the decor was nice. There is limited seating so be prepared to wait if you arrive around noon!

overall: 4.5/5 food: 4/5 service: 5/5 ambiance: 4/5 located inside a small plaza with other establishments, myomi truly stands out! my family and i were looking for a good sushi spot to enjoy our dinner, and i am glad we came to myomi. we ordered the king dragon roll, the red roll, and the myomi roll for the specialty rolls. for nigiri, we got the salmon belly and uni. of what we ordered, i would recommend the king dragon roll and the salmon belly nigiri. the salmon belly was fresh and melted in our mouths- a truly delightful experience paired with some wasabi. the uni nigiri was "flavorless" according to my dad, but the presentation overall was beautiful! the king dragon roll was also delicious- i enjoyed the fried taro chips and the eel. i would skip on ordering the red roll though. a note about the service! everyone was very kind and hospitable- green tea was poured out for us and workers came in often to take away plates and refill our teas. the sushi also came out really quickly. if i were to come back next time, i would love to try out their set menu dinner/lunch sets! i noticed a lot of parties ordering it, and it looked really good!

THE ROSES: While there's no dedicated parking, it's location in a semi-industrial area helps ensure that street parking is available. Clean, airy dining space, with entertaining J-Pop music providing the ambiance. Pleasant, efficient staff What makes MR stand out is the way it showcases 'tori-paitan' broth. While most diners are familiar with shoyu and tonkatsu broths, 'tori-paiten' uses chicken carcasses and then emulsifies the chicken bits with a blender to create a uniquely silky, creamy broth texture. It is a pleasant change of pace and really well executed. Portions and prices are reasonable. Nice choices of local and Japanese beers. THE THORNS: I honestly got nothing here. Maruhachi Ramen isn't fancy, but what it does, it does really well. THE VERDICT: This location of Maruhachi Ramen isn't super easy to find, and that's probably a good thing. If you want solid ramen and efficient service, you would be hard-pressed to find better. Highly recommend!

The noodles have a great chew, and you get a choice between thick or thin noodles. I do have to say the broth didn't seem as rich as their other locations, but still good. My little ones yummed it up. Always a solid choice to satisfy a ramen craving.

Afuri Ramen had a anniversary promo sale on their yuzu shio ramen as advertised on Instagram page, so my friends and I got 3 of those. They were only $12 discounted from $17.50 regularly. Afuri's shio ramen comes with shio tare, chicken broth, chiyu, menma, greens, sous vide chicken chashu, egg, nori, yuzu, and thin noodles. In terms of taste, the ramen was not bad. The chicken was cooked well. It's a very light, citrusy, and refreshing ramen, rather than the bold, salty, oily, super flavorful ones i usually eat at other ramen places. Afuri's take on ramen is different for sure. On the downside, I thought the strong citrus flavors of yuzu and the other veggies overpowered everything in the ramen which im not a big fan of. Too tangy for me. The portion size of the ramen are slightly on the smaller side too. Service was OK. Wait time for the ramen was pretty long at about 20ish minutes. On the bright side, the servers were friendly and checked on our table regularly to refill waters and stuff. They were really quick in giving the bill when we requested it. All the staff said goodbye to us when we left which was nice. The dining area was spacious and modern. Clean as well. Most of the tables were long, shared communal tables with a selection condiments, chopsticks, and napkins. I kind of liked the chili paste they provided. It's not very spicy though. Gonna have to give Afuri Ramen 3 out of 5 stars mainly because the ramen was just ok in my opinion. I discovered that I don't like yuzu and its citrusy flavors in my ramen as much as i thought. If you don't mind that at all, Afuri Ramen is worth a try. Their yuzu shio ramen is still discounted to $12 until the end of this August in Richmond and Vancouver on weekdays. It's a great promo.

The ambiance is modern Asian, with concrete floors contributing to an industrial feel. Service Quality: During my visit on a Sunday, there were only two servers managing the entire restaurant. Despite this, I was seated right away for a late lunch service as I was dining alone. Although the restaurant was fully occupied, I was able to place my order promptly. However, it took a bit longer to receive my bill and make the payment. Menu Variety: Afuri Ramen and Dumpling offers an extensive menu with numerous ramen options and a variety of other appetizers. Additionally, they have an appealing drink menu. Food Presentation: I opted for the lunch combo, which included gyoza and tsukemen. Both dishes were neatly plated with evident care. The utensils--forks, chopsticks, and a spoon--were provided in a small plastic container on the side. Although I ordered pan-fried gyoza, I was served the deep-fried version instead. Despite this mix-up, I still enjoyed the dish without raising a complaint. Food Taste and Quality: The taste of the food was excellent, with a good balance of salt and spice. The freshness and heat of the dishes were commendable. The ramen noodles were cooked to perfection, and the tsukemen had a generous amount of meat. Portion Sizes: The lunch combo provided a satisfactory amount of food. However, considering the price, it would have been nice to have one or two more pieces of gyoza and a bit more ramen noodles. Drink Selection: The restaurant offers a good selection of cocktails. Since I visited for lunch, I only tried their homemade ginger ale, which was incredibly delicious and refreshing. I wish I had the recipe for it! Price and Value: I received a 20% discount on the lunch combo due to the day and time of my visit. This is something to look out for if you plan to dine here. Despite the discount, I felt that the portion sizes could have been more generous. Overall, I paid just under $30 for the drink, gyoza, and tsukemen. Overall Experience and Recommendation: Afuri Ramen and Dumplings may not be my top choice for ramen in Richmond, given the abundance of other options in the area. However, if you find yourself within a few blocks of this restaurant, it's worth a visit. I recommend trying their gyoza and homemade ginger ale, and you can't go wrong with any of their ramen choices.
