Had Myomi tonight for dinner as recommended by a friend. Interior's cute. Service is friendly, didn't have to wait more than a minute during peak dinner time, tables turned over fast keeping the place well-packed. They got a good system going on. I got a whole four-top to myself. I had quite the appetite so I decided to order the Bite of Everything dinner set which was very aptly named. It had chicken karaage, gyoza, miso soup, ebi sunomono, a few pieces of a Cali roll, 6 pieces of nigiri (salmon, tuna, ebi, tai, scallop, unagi), a few cubes of tuna "carpaccio" and an orange slice. Paired it with 5oz of some hot sake. Before getting into the food, I'll say I had a pleasant dinner and it's at par with restaurants at its relative price point. $42 before tip to be tipsy and full is a deal. Similar quality to Ganbei nearby which I've frequented several times. This is a quantity vs quality place. The best thing on the tray was the chicken karaage. And at a very close second was the ebi sunomono. Karaage was battered well, very juicy. Sunomono was a refreshing, tangy, and sweet accompaniment. The actual sushi is where it fell off. Each piece was amateurishly put together; some nigiri had hard rice, fish tasted flat, rice wasn't seasoned. It passes for a mid-range sushi restaurant, but it won't blow you away. It's our first time here, and it's such a cute place to have some authentic sushi. I wanted something simple and authentic Japanese food, unfortunately a lot of places have added some fancy stuff which I don't like. The place is located in a small strip mall on garden city, with a decent space. Parking is a little tight as there's limited parking spots. We were lucky that when we got a parking spot. When we got in, a group people were leaving, so we were able to get a table right away. They have some nice selection on its menu. We picked two special dinner sets, one is the Stay for the Oshi, and the other is Myomi dinner. Both were really good and tasty. The Oshi was a full size one, with 3 pieces of nigiri. The tuna carpaccio was very fresh, I really like the sauce came with it. Myomi dinner set had a ten pieces of sashimi, California roll and 3 pieces of nigiri as well. Both came with tempura, miso soup and Ebi sunomono. The portion of the dinner set is pretty generous, and we all enjoyed it. We came for lunch on a Thursday and were the first ones in. We got the Myomi lunch box ($19.95) and the chicken lunch box ($20.95). Both were pretty big and came with tempura Between the 2 the Myomi lunch box is more filling as it has more carbs (in the rice and noodles). The tempura is really light and crispy. Nothing is over flavored. The sashimi itself was not of the best quality but for this price and the variety of everything it's not bad. The chicken was okay. Overall for the price the quality and presentation of the food is not bad. The service wasn't the most attentive but I'm fine with that. We originally planned to eat at another restaurant, but traffic was insane, so we decided to head south to Richmond instead. On the car ride from downtown Vancouver, I frantically searched for a Japanese spot with sushi, noodles, katsu, and more--and stumbled upon this gem. I'm so glad it worked out! This place was amazing with fantastic prices. Coming from the U.S., we already find Canada to be cheaper, but a $20 CAD lunch special that was huge felt like a steal. We arrived at 1:30 PM on a Sunday and snagged the last table--it was packed the whole time, even into the off-lunch hours. That's always a good sign! The restaurant might look like a hole in the wall, tucked into a strip mall with limited parking, but it's absolutely worth it. Both the sushi and the katsu were delicious. There were a few authentic Japanese restaurants near Steveston but not so impressive to me in my recent visits. However in my recent visits to this restaurant, the meal sets exceeded my expectation. No matter the side dishes or the main course or the nigiri sushi, it was a journey of enjoyment till the end. Service was good and it didn't take long time to wait for the foods. The only thing on the minus side is, perhaps due to the space is limited, it was noisy as many customers were talking loudly. I measured the noisy level and it was over 80 dB. They were ordinary, but delicate and fresh. - The salmon oshi was so delicious! They melt in my mouth. Knowing they have great lunch specials, I returned for a dine in experience with a friend and although the prices were higher that I had expected, the variety of food in each set still makes this a worthy sushi lunch spot in Richmond. We liked how the sashimi was large slices but very fresh and the california roll was as expected. I did find that the bean sprouts under the teriyaki were VERY salty though... Chirashi Lunch - chirashi don, small udon in soup, edamame, agedashi tofu and small side salad - I couldn't resist this one because it came with chirashi (my favourite) and this rendition did not disappoint. The sashimi slices were thick and fresh and their rice was flavoured properly. Again, I found that the edamame and soup for the udon were both over salted but the portion sizes were adequate for a lunch box. Overall, the prices here are a little high but their plentiful lunch boxes are a huge draw (every table was ordering them). I read favourable reviews about this restaurant and decided to try it. My bff and I sat down in a very clean establishment with jazzy coffee house music playing in the background. The server was friendly and the first couple of items were beautiful and delicious. We then were served a tuna poke that consisted of a pile of edamame, a pile of corn, a pile of cucumber all encircling rice with seaweed salad and tuna on top. It a wasn't that exciting to look at but when we tried it, we were chagrined to find out it was super spicy! I eat some spice, for sure, but it was hot. My friend couldn't even eat it. We asked our server if we could send it back. She checked and said yes. We then received the same barren piles but this time with zero sauce. Just gross. We tried to send it back, get a different sauce with no spice. Our server asked what flavour are you looking for? I don't know? Something that tastes like poke? After some discussion, we settled on a mix of three sauces. Earlier, when we ordered the wild salmon, she said extra charge one dollar and we were like sure, of course. But when we got the bill, I couldn't believe it. She had charged us $5 for three tiny bowls of tempura sauce, sesame oil, and unagi sauce. What a bitter taste we left with. Wow! Where do I start? My bf and I planned this as my birthday trip dinner and we drove from Seattle for a day trip. It was well worth it! The staff are so kind and helpful. The ambience is quaint with Japanese vibes. The food, one word: OISHI! I ordered the tonkatsu which is served with rice, soup and a salad. Delicious! The batter isn't think and stayed crispy. Though I've been here 3 times in the month of December, this was my first dinner here and we all really like it and my first time to taste their chicken kaarage. So yummy!!! There is a bit of a wait if you want to dine in at the restaurant as they don't take reservations. My family and I have been ordering with them through Uber eats. Just the other week, we ordered the sushi party tray to try. The quality of the sushi blew my mind. Everything tasted so fresh and there were big pieces of sashimi in each piece. DO NOT EAT HERE OR ORDER TAKE OUT Worst service I've ever had in my life. Had a small get together at my house and my wife placed an order for delivery of a party tray and a bunch of other miscellaneous dishes when the order arrived the main party tray was missing, after a call to the restaurant we were offered to come pick up our missing party tray that they forgot and some free pop. At this point I have already paid for delivery and tip and now I'm going to have to go out of my way to go pick up the missing party tray that the restaurant forgot. Upon arrival I was greeted by a smug looking boy who was quite greasy and whose shirt was filled with bleach stains who must have been the dishwash boy. Without even hello he started to wave his finger in my face that I owe them money and was trying to charge me a second time for the party tray that they forgot, after I attempted to explain that his fellow coworker most likely someone above him, a waitress, instructed my wife that we can come and pick up our missing food. He became irate stating that he is going to call the cops on me.The wash boy proceeded to get in my face in a very confrontational way almost like he was trying to fight me, meanwhile I'm here just to pick up sushi for my guests on my way home from work. Now to explain the situation, doordash instructed us to take up the issue with the restaurant as they were the ones who forgot our food which we did. Without our knowledge doordash credited us for the cost of the party tray that the restaurant forgot, and at this point I was not aware of the credit. The greasy wash boy thought we were trying to pull a fast one on them or was just angry that he has so many dishes to wash and is such a little boy in a meaningless job, I'm not really sure but I do know that in no way should you accuse a customer of what I was accused of and in no way should you treat a customer the way I was treated. I will never eat here or order from them ever again and I will tell everybody that I know the same. We live in Richmond and there is a quality sushi restaurant on every corner so it makes no difference to me. Someone in that company should teach the wash boy some manners and some customer service and possibly get him an apron, one of those plastic white disposable ones will do. read more

Full disclosure I tried to come when they were doing their soft opening but they had ran out of rice. The staff were super nice about it so I thought I'd come back to give them another try. This place is only about 5 minutes from my home and was excited to hopefully find a new neighbourhood sushi joint to frequent. On this second visit it was no longer their soft opening but the kitchen and service staff still seemed to struggle with their timing. Presentation is generally nice here with cute trays and plating but the actual food I found to be very average. For example, the bite of everything "special dinner" is 6 pieces of very generic sushi with 6 pieces of ver generic maki, this is more of a lunch bento that happened to be served at dinner time, that looks like it would typically cost around $12-16 but at $30, this tray was very underwhelming. The Pork Katsu at $20 was equally underwhelming. Thin portion of dry pork and even the quantity of rice is tiny. With places like Katsusan, Katsuya, and Saku in town that serve up pork katsu at a similar (or perhaps cheaper) price point and at a much higher quality, I don't know where Myomi comes off charging $20 for this disappointment. Salmon oshi sushi at $17 again is priced above average, note that Miku only charges $18 for their legendary Salmon oshi, and the quality of Myomi's is definitely not up there. The sauce is barely torched and overall this dish was sloppy. I would say none of the dishes were absolutely terrible but prices just aren't competitive for the quality you're getting. That being said, the bar for Japanese restaurants in Richmond is incredibly low and I've seen many mediocre restaurants thrive like this. Myomi was busy the evening that I went and I wouldn't be surprised if people continue to frequent this restaurant out of convenience. My table of 4 spent $30-35/person on what we felt was food court quality fare and still left hungry. Will not be coming back. read more

This place was just ok. I was hoping this place would be a good dive in restaurant but it paled in comparison to other sushi joints. I would hope it would be tastier for a place that is a little more pricey and less filling. I guess what you pay for here is ambiance because it's quite a pretty restaurant. The server here was polite and nice and apologetic whenever we had to wait for our order but I didn't really notice a significant wait time. The appetizer tempura is light and fluffy. The asparagus tempura that was included was quite fibrous though. The Mr. Big roll had a generous amount of fried yam bits on top which was delicious, but the spicy sauce on it was too sweet for my liking. Almost tasted like thai chilli sauce. I wouldn't order it again. The ebi sunomo was a little above average. Two types of shrimp. The large shrimp was a bit sinewy as if it still had a shell on it but it didn't. Gomae was standard and good. Miso was flavourfull. The tuna tataki roll was also ok. Idk, I think the standard for "special rolls" are generally decreasing while the prices are increasing. This is my first time at Myomi, and I am impressed. The salmon poke bowl is yummy and worth every penny. Compared to other chain store poke bowl places, this one has thick pieces of salmon! For the dinner set (I forgot the name, the one with Oshi), the Oshi nigiri is really good. The other salmon/tuna nigiri are average, not great or bad.
