My wife and I wanted to dry another Japanese restaurant in the same building complex, but we didn't have reservations, and they were full, so we decided to come here instead. I've been to original Sushi Mura on Oak Street before, and never thought of them as being particularly special, so I assumed nothing had changed. The place sort of looks like the other locations (or mid-tier sushi restaurants in Vancouver in general) This location is quite busy, so it took them a few minutes to seat us. Once we did sit, the first thing we noticed is that they had ordering terminals at each of the tables. Made it easy to browse the menu and place an order. We tried two things: - Tempura Udon: Quite good. The udon itself was quite standard, but the I was quite impressed with the tempura. Tempura should be extremely light, and they did a really good job here. - Mura Lunch Bento: Good. This is more for visual appeal, because it looks really impressive. But individually, some of parts weren't great - particularly the cooked fish dishes that were cooked too dry. Because the use of ordering terminals, service is pretty minimal here. But I'm ok with that, because the operate more efficiently. Overall, I was happy with my visit. The tempura was particularly good, but the rest was pretty average. Was craving Sushi and came across Sushi Mura. Ordered two Chirashi bowls to go. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night which tells me that they are popular and have good food. The food was fresh and hit the spot, came with a good variety of sashimi. There's a larger Deluxe Chirashi Don option - I'll have to check that out next time to see what else is included. After hearing about this place multiple times I had to try it out. They seem pretty busy most evenings so I made a reservation in advance. The ordering system is super convenient through a screen at the table and food came quick. The presentation and the fact that they serve cocktails was a huge win. I tried 4 different special rolls and I must say though, they were a little underwhelming in terms of flavor compared to other more affordable sushi spots in Richmond. Came to have lunch for 3. Plenty of seating inside, and the interior has lovely Japanese decor with a mix of modern/urban vibes. Our servers were quick and gave us great recommendations. First time trying Sushi Mura. It's a pretty spacious space with lots of seating. Each table has a tablet ordering system which made it easy to browse the menu and make any desired changes to dishes such as removing components. The rolls come out extremely fast and were tasty. Don't know why Sushi Mura across Yelp has such bad ratings! It's one of the top spots recommended by my friends around YVR and I can see why. Each table has a tablet to order from. Service was mediocre as they never offered to refill tea. Two restrooms for women and one for men. Nice presentation and tasty fish. There was a 25 minute wait around 8pm on a Saturday. There is a paid parking garage next door. Most, if not all rolls, come with shredded beet and spring mix for aesthetics but also fibrously help fill one up. Spider Roll - skip the spider roll here as it's 80% cucumber. The flavor and texture of everything else is overwhelmed resulting in an unstable cucumber and rice roll. Unstable because it's wide and falls apart easy with the cucumber weight. Volcano Roll - my favorite roll here although I think there's a bit too much sauce. I believe spicy tuna inside the rolls and the oval shape helps concentrate out the taste of fish, rather than being uniform throughout. This also comes with fantastic chunks of salmon in the center which were delectable. Mura Special - tasty roll with salmon on the outside and tamago inside! The sweet egg alongside it's fluffy texture do help the roll shine as a delicacy balanced by the fatty salmon. Medium for Two - a high value item for a group, there are four rolls (salmon skin, tempura shrimp, California, and scallop) to share plus a set of nigiri. Had a great time!! I've never been to this location and I love how spacious it is! We went in a Friday night around 8PM and even though the restaurant was practically filled, we only waited around 15 minutes. The service was exemplary!! Everyone was so kind and patient. The food also came out super very quickly. The King's Roll and House Roll were gigantic-- the size of my fist!! Every bite was filled with bursts of ingredients. We got another roll with mango, imitation crab and shrimp on top (apologizes that I forget the name), and it was ok!! I wish there were actual mango pieces on top instead of just the sauce. The unagi don was not that great for the price. It didn't feel fresh and was way too sticky. The seafood udon stole my heart, especially on this cold, rainy night. The udon was the perfect bounciness and I love how the broth was not too overly salty. They had a variety of different seafood inside and each bite filled me with warmth!! $19 is a bit steep for a bowl of udon, but it was a very good sized portion :) I can't have raw sashimi at the moment but I was amazed by how gigantic their sashimi portions were (from what I saw others ordered). Some good friends are fortunate to live in this brand new area built up around the Olympic Oval. Ever since Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics back in 2010 (and what an event it was!) a huge growth in building development has taken a grip on this entire region of Metro Vancouver. If you had left town prior to 2010 & came back today - you almost wouldn't recognize it. Sushi Mura is this Japanese restaurants third location & it's largest. Very swanky decor, spacious floor & large windows letting in plenty of natural light. I could honestly sit in this restaurant for 3 hours & not want to leave. I love this thriving location because it's away from the hustle of the very busy #3 Road in Richmond. Now that's not to say that this is a quiet sleepy area - because it's not. There's just more way more space & room to move around here making it a pleasant relaxing experience. Come see for yourselves. Yelpies to achieve utter satisfaction order these dishes - Seafood Udon, Ebo Gyoza, Snowy Village & Calamari Crush. Your belly will be very grateful! I was craving some sushi boat sushi (aka massive quantities) and stumbled upon Sushi Mura on Yelp. I went with the deluxe assorted sushi tray that had 26 pieces for $50. I figured that that might be enough between my girls and I. I was wrong, it was too much! The cuts of fish are so thick and generous, and the fish is extremely fresh. I guess it's definitely a benefit of eating in the Pacific Northwest. The kids went crazy over the salmon, I loved the sockeye and hamachi cuts, along with everything else in my sashimi boat tbh The fish tasted like what toro would taste like back in CA sushi houses, the ama ebi was perfect, with the heads fried perfectly so I could eat the whole thing. Service was friendly and immediate, and the restaurant has a cool modern/industrial vibe but with a touch of Asian finesse if that makes sense lol I will definitely be coming back to try other items, but $50 for this was totally worth it! read more

There's lots of seating and a nice airy space when you first walk in which is great but they somehow seem to always be busy so expect to wait a bit before ordering. Once sitting down we were asked whether we wanted water or green tea and then left to order on the tablet at the table. This was really cool and even had a feature where you could split the bill however you wanted at the end which is great if you're going with a group of friends. Our food came super fast which was great as well! That being said, this is where the positives end. The food itself is just average but very expensive compared to other sushi places. Each of the special rolls range from $15-$20. We ordered 4 regular rolls, a maki roll, and gyozas and it came to $50 which is more than we usually spend for the same order other places. I also found that 2 of the regular vegetarian rolls I ordered were huge in size but mostly rice which made it hard to eat and enjoy. The service is also slow after the initial food is brought so if you need a water refill or anything else be prepared to wait a bit. I've been to their OG location on Oak St. quite a few times. This location is very spacious and much more modern looking. We tried the shrimp and sweet potato tempura which was very crispy, chicken kaarage was in the form of wings and drummettes-also very crispy and well seasoned. The chopped scallop roll had a bit too much rice, dragon roll was ok and the fantastic roll was quite big. Pricing is not bad and you will definitely be full. Menu is exactly the same as their other locations , which i guess can be a plus or minus , as one can say they're consistent across the board or a lil' lacking in creativity . This is their 3rd location and their biggest one yet; it's only been less than a month and they're always a full house! Uni nigiri $4 each: It was really smooth & buttery, and I didn't taste much of the brininess! Chopped scallop roll $5.95: A classic that you can't avoid! There's a good scallop & cucumber ratio to the rice, and it wasn't too loaded on the mayo. On cloud 9 roll $15.95: Beautifully presented & very flavorful! This plate was pretty huge though! There's lots of fresh toppings such as salmon, hokkigai, tobiko, and more along w/ their special sauce which had a little spicy kick but I didn't mind it. Tuna & salmon sashimi 17.25 (9 pcs): These slices were THICK and FRESH! Light & subtle with a texture that melts in your mouth. Aburi salmon battera (box sushi) $18.95: The salmon was seared nicely with lots of sauce! I feel like they kinda overloaded w/ the cheese which took over a little bit of the flavor, however it was still pretty good. This truly is a box sushi cause there's lotsof rice! I went within the first 2 weeks of grand opening and luckily they take reservations! The servers were very friendly and one of my orders did get messed up which is understandable for a full house for Saturday lunch. Big shoutout for fixing my order right away! This location is also their biggest one with lots of seating and nice lighting! If you choose to do walk in, go once they open or else you'll be waiting for a while. Resos are recommended for sure. Great place near the Olympic Oval for casual dining. The decor is relaxing enough that you could spend hours in conversation, while also not being so pretentious that you'd need to dress fancy. The food tastes the same way. Not overly sauced like a lot of places, and a solid portion of seafood on each plate. My personal favorite is the spicy salmon sashimi to satisfy that seafood craving with spice. You can generally tell a restaurant's quality by their house rolls, and the balance of the components shows that the chefs make their sushi consistently. One note is that special rolls usually have sauce, which can overpower the flavor of the seafood combinations instead of soya sauce, but they are all creative nonetheless. Overall wait and service are appropriate for how busy they are for a lunch rush. There's no areas for free parking in the area, but the streets are generally convenient for the block. read more

terrible experience and food! line was excessively long and don't take reservation. waited over 30 min for table and then quickly ordered as I was starving. 40 min later the food still didnt arrive. the waiter forgot to punch in order... 2 hrs later I get the food: salmon sashimi had to be sent back as you cannot chew through it, it had rubbery consistency. 2 hrs and 45 min later my chicken karaage still hadn't arrived. waiter offered a miso soup for compensation i respectfully declined.
