I paid for a TV wall mount installation at Walmart and Walmart sent me to this company. Day 1, 4 hour window 9-1, no one showed up! 2 hours on chat with them getting nothing but excuses. Day 2, scheduled and confirmed for 4pm, tech assigned. No-show again! Another 2 hours with them constantly saying "I know how you feel" no they don't. Finally filed a complaint with Walmart. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This was a HORRIBLE experience. We were no-showed 3 different times and spent hours on chat with them. The one guy who did show up (completely outside of the time we were given) had no idea what he was doing. We were having security cameras installed and he showed up with no tools and said he needed to borrow a ladder. One of the dumbest booking system's I've ever come across... I received a confirmation email and text saying a technician was coming from 9am - 1pm est. Nobody came. Nobody contacted me. When I reached out to their customer service team, they told me that "an appointment is not yet a guarantee until a tech has been assigned / located." In other words, the email saying that someone was coming in that window means nothing. It just means someone may come in that window if they can find someone. If not, too bad. Again, I received an email and text confirming someone WILL come during that time, but that is not how appointments at HelloTech work. It means that someone MIGHT come. And you won't know for sure until you've waited around for hours to find out no one is in fact coming. read more

TOTAL SCAM!! We had a technician come out to install a NEST thermostat in our condo. He was not able to do this as he stated he "is not an HVAC technician" and did not understand our current thermostat setup enough to switch it over to NEST. I'm not sure what town this review should be in but I needed my printer hooked up and I live in Dover NH and they booked a technician from Danvers MA which took two days to find him. He booked appointment for three days later and then called and rescheduled. Wanted to reschedule for three more days out but that wouldn't work for me. So we made it for the following day. On the day about 1 hr 15 minutes before he was to show up, he called with "car trouble". This "may" be true but I think he just didn't want to do that drive. Tried to reschedule again, and by then I lost all confidence in him and thought this would be a pattern. I am still without my printer connected. And I also wanted to hire these people to mount a TV on my wall. Not gonna! So my advice is to hire someone local. That's what I'm trying to do now. Hello Tech was very UNRELLIABLE. read more

They haven't shown up for 3 appointments in a row, no call or any notification to let me know they weren't coming, in fact they sent emails about how to prepare for my appointment ahead of time as well as reminders about the appointment. Then just didn't show up and left me waiting after I moved my plans around to be available - 3 times!! I called the HelloTech number each time and they apologized and rescheduled. I'm not rescheduling again, going to use a more reliable service to mount my tv. read more

Signed up online to hello tech for mounting my brand new 65 inch tv on wall. Signed up for a membership to receive discounted service fee on mounting the tv. Not knowing it would continue for a year of charges at 19.99 a month. I was charged 19.99 plus 69.99 that very day. The technician was scheduled for the same day but never showed up. I was sent a text to make another appt in which I did. The next day a tech showed up alone. I had my own new mount and he proceeded to position and drill the wall. He then stated that I had metal studs and that it would cost more I had no choice but to agree. Another 69$ was charged for that after the fact. What happened was the tech needed my help to mount my tv. While I was helping him mount the tv he grabbed the top left side of the tv and pushed squeezed and shoved it on cracking the screen. He then said don't worry you are a member I have insurance and you will be taken care of. He also admitted that he manhandled the shit out of it. His words. I immediately called to make sure that a claim was filed with damage dept same day. A month and a half later and another 19.99 charge, many many emails having given them all the information required in more than one email. They have not reimbursed the amount of the damaged tv. They were returning a lump sum which was not the full cost. Then returned with they couldn't verify my account. I feel they are stringing this along and dragging it out. I got HelloTech from Instagram advertising and I should have known better. The experience was painful at best. The technician that came out was not qualified and inadequately trained. I hired them to reinstall 2 TV's after more than 3 hours only one was reinstalled and I had to do most of the lifting. They were supposed to come back and hang the second TV but I have decided to go in another direction. My advice is to call a company that is more established and qualified. read more

Alvin L. has a positive disposition and was prompt, he called about 15 min before our scheduled appointment to advise that he'd be there momentarily. He arrived almost immediately after calling and was very professional. He announced who he was and the company he worked for. He also accommodated our request regarding shoes by removing at the door way. He had a mask on during the entire visit and kept a safe social distance whenever possible. He assisted us with finalizing where we would like our TV mounted and how high we'd like it. He made valued suggestions based upon his experience and knowledge and took several measurements before making a suggestion to assist us with making sure it was mounted in the center (in comparison to where our couch was located). In addition, he assisted us with moving a bookcase over to ensure that there was enough room for the TV and he was very courteous. He was accommodating and advised us that he could place the TV wherever we'd like and utilize one of the two mounts that we had available. He ensured us that with patience he could figure just about anything out and that he would utilize whichever mount we'd like. The TV looks great now that it's on the wall and we appreciate him making sure it worked before beginning the process. We think that taking a picture before to show that the TV is working and again once it's mounted on the wall is a great idea for all parties involved! Alvin even made sure that all our HDMI 1 input option worked properly before leaving and was patient as we figured out how to use the new remote. Alvin was pleasant and polite, he chatted along with us when we dragged him into our conversation and worked quietly when we did not. We felt comfortable with having him in our home and would certainly utilize HelloTech again if all of the technicians are like Alvin. He is certainly added value for the company and a professional through and through! Thank you for helping our military family out, my wife had a recent injury and I've just had surgery. Mounting a 65" TV did not sound like something we wanted to tackle and Alvin took care of it! read more

I had HelloTech hang a TV on my wall and set up an old Sony Surround Sound system. I think the tech was a jack of all trades but not a specialist in antiquated systems. He took time, figured it out and got the job done. He did not know how to balance the speakers... just set up the hardware properly. I figured the programing out. Good job but make sure you define the job and your expectations in advance. I would definitely use the again. read more

I thought this was a great service but ended in total disappointment. I wanted to have my Nest installed. When ordering they offered services such as install c line and transformer and charged additional money for each additional service. I figured great these guys are professionals. Set an appointment for 3pm and the tech was a no show. Called at 4pm to find out where he was and received no answers. They asked to reschedule and they said they would call me back. NO CALL BACK. Next day I called to find out what was going on and the lady said that the installation was not possible because the technician did not know to provide the service. .Why would you advertise and charge for a service you do not know how to provide? I spent over 40 minutes with a representative on hold trying to get answers. She put me on hold and then hung up on me. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY! What a great company! It was simple to make an appointment that fit around my hectic schedule and I was even able to do so through an online chat. I was fortunate enough to have Exel as my tech. He came right on time and he was easily able to troubleshoot the multiple issues with my wireless printer that were caused by a tech from another company. Exel was very professional and super patient with someone like me who has very little understanding of anything technical. He walked me through all aspects of my printer so that I would feel confident using it after he left. HelloTech, and Exel specifically, will always be my go to if I need any kind of technical service in the future! read more

My laptop was not working with regards to Microsoft Office products. I could not use Outlook, Word or Excel. The tech proposed copying the files from my hard drive, reformatting my hard drive and copying the files back in. As I could not find my Office disk, the tech said I could use the free trial for 30 days. He downloaded it, but selected Personal rather than Home use. I did not realize it till after he left and the other laptop user's emails could still not be accessed. I also noticed that my laptop appeared to now be running more slowly. I think this is odd since my laptop is now as it was 'from the factory'. I could live with these issues. However, the next day when I attempted to retrieve photos, I noticed folders were missing entirely. I did say repeatedly that every picture folder needed to be copied. Now pictures from Christmas, my Mother's 85th birthday party and photos I had taken before my husband passed away are gone. I did not have them backed up, but I would assume that he understood what I meant when I said that ALL the pictures needed to be copied. Needless to say, I was extremely unhappy about this. The next day caused more aggravation as many documents - both Word and Excel were missing. Some of these documents were related to my husband's estate and will take weeks if not months to recreate. I am sorry that I did not monitor each step as he performed them and double-check all of his work. I assumed (incorrectly) that he would be precise during each step. He was not. The tech came back today to run a 'deep scan' to attempt to retrieve the files. The scan ran for 3 hours - I am not exaggerating this. He ran something called Recuva. I saw two files - a word document and an Excel document that showed they could possibly be recovered. The tech then looked to see if any pictures could be recovered. In doing so, he closed the window of the scan that had run for 3 hours. A scan that had run for 3 hours would now have to be run again. I instructed him that I would run the scan and would attempt to recover any lost files. The word document could not be retrieved - it was corrupted. The Excel document could be retrieved. So after 6 hours of running a scan to retrieve important documents and pictures of family members at birthdays, vacations and holidays, exactly one document was recovered. Before he left, the tech informed me that he had only used this software a couple of times. On the phone when I set up this appointment, he made it sound like this would solve all my issues. Apparently, he exaggerated the software's success. I will now be spending the next several weeks attempting to recreate a dozen very important documents. Unfortunately, the pictures are gone for good. I will not be using Geekatoo in the future, nor will I recommend your services. read more
