It's impressive and laughable if it was not so frustrating. The technician cancelled the morning of the appointment. When I tried to cancel the service, the only option was to select a new appointment time. The times did not work for me, but because I selected "choose another appointment" I was charged a cancellation fee...even though the company cancelled the appointment. I was charged both a cancellation fee and a subscription fee despite never having received the service. Numerous emails later trying to rectify this issue, the company will not give me a refund. Scheduled an appointment for Monday in the morning. By the end of day they hadn't come. I chatted with them to see what was up. They asked "do you want us to come out today or tomorrow?" I said today. They said "well we can't come out until tomorrow at 5". So I scheduled the next day at 5. Wasn't surprised when 6 rolled around and they still hadn't come. They are cheap. This company is a scam and should be investigated. I booked service for a TV mount and hidden wires. The tech showed up late and informed me at the time that he couldn't do the hidden wires. I said fine, just hang the TV. He hung the TV and asked me to sign the work order. I asked if the charge for the hidden wires would be removed, and he said yes. He was supposed to mount the TV in the center of the wall, and he mounted it a foot and a half to the left of the center. When the charge went through, it was for the full amount (including hidden wires). Took several days to get a response and a refund from them. Then a month later I get a random $5 charge from them. It turns out that when I scheduled the service, they automatically enrolled me in their basic membership and set it to auto-renew. Call me crazy, but that sounds like theft. Do NOT use this company. This company doesn't even deserve one star. 1st appointment to install thermostat didn't even show up. 2 nd appointment showed up a couple of hours late. the thermostat was not installed correctly and my a/c unit fan has been running since. the tech was notified immediately and refused to come back and fix it. Had an ecobee thermostat installed, and my system stopped working automatically. The heat runs in auxiliary. Now that it's hot, we find out the cooling doesn't work... and they don't respond. Having a really bad experience with this company. I brought a prepaid card from Target for tv mounted service. The tech shows up at 7:30 pm the day before he was scheduled at 11am the next day. I ask why are you here now unannounced just shows up at my house he said I called you and you didn't answer so he just showed up . I told him no he cannot come in this late was expecting him tomorrow he left. I called the company at this point I just want a refund. They told me no I have to go back to Target for a refund Target says they don't give refunds on this prepaid card. I had to reschedule with a different Tech. I called Hello Tech on a Thursday, and they quickly answered the phone and scheduled me for an appointment the next day between 9-1pm.  The next day, no one showed up or even called,  but they sure did charge me $86.00 for the service fee right away. I called them at 1 pm and waited on the phone for 25 minutes before someone answered. The lady rescheduled me for the same day between 1-5pm, again no-show and no-call. The first tech rescheduled multiple times, then didn't do complete work. I complained to HelloTech, and they agreed to send another tech to finish the work. The second tech had no idea how to finish the install. I had to figure it out myself, which is what I had paid to not do. So now I'm out almost $300 and still had to do it myself. I wish I could give zero stars. This company is a dog and pony show. I made an appointment on a Tuesday to have a tech support person to come to my house to help with my computer. Was told that for $86, a tech would arrive at 9 a.m. Thursday and stay for up to 4 hrs. (9 to 1). This seemed odd so I asked if the 9 to 1 wasn't the arrival window. I was told 'no', that was the amount of time I would get for the $86 and if I bought a membership, it would be even cheaper. I made the appt., but refused the membership. Shortly after, I received an email saying a tech would arrive at 11a.m. for a one hour service. I called back and was told that the 9-1 number was the window--I knew that going in. I was again offered a membership, which would now cut the cost of the visit in half. I again refused the membership. The next night, the night before the scheduled visit, I received another email, this time telling me the tech would not be coming and could I call them to reschedule. I do not recommend this service AT ALL. I signed up for this service after explaining what I needed done for my Wifi. Basically I just wanted a mesh system installed. Some how it got totally hosed up when the tech came out. He said he was only here to look at the system and recommend changes. I said to him that is not what I wanted. BEWARE!!!!!! This company is a total scam and even worse than I thought previously. I posted a review already on my first experience when they refused to cancel the membership I never signed up for so I was left with no option by customer service but to cancel my debit card associated with the TV mount service and claim the charges as fraudulent. I thought that was the END but I was WRONG. Somehow they got my new debit card 3 months after I cancelled my old one and I have a pending transaction from them. This is absolutely shocking as I verified on the account that it still has my old, cancelled debit card. I believe this company is hacking and stealing information. The tech and the service were fine. Not great, but fine. The real problem was the pricing. I went to HelloTech as directed by SimpliSafe to arrange for a $79 installation of my SimpliSafe system. HelloTech told me it would cost $250 to install the security system. I told them what SimpliSafe told me re $79 and HelloTech told me that $250 was the correct price. So I went to SimpliSafe and worked it out with them to get free monitoring worth $170 to make up the difference. (BTW I don't fault HelloTech for that pricing differential; I think SimpliSafe's website is misleading.) The problem with HelloTech began when the tech never went over anything relating to pricing with me and then, after he had left, I was charged over $350 for the installation. I then had to make three phone calls, have two internet chats, and write an email to HelloTech to get the bill corrected to $250. While the work was completed, I was charged incorrectly and I had to expend time to be charged the correct amount. And of course we don't get compensated for that lost time. Summarizing, I wouldn't use HelloTech again because I think the price point is pretty high (as you'll see in other positive and negative reviews) and--much more importantly--they don't charge correctly and their customer service is not responsive. read more
