The beer and service is good. They have a nitro beer which is amazing, but we don't get it because the bartenders do not know how to poor it. ( old school pump like in UK) so you are lucky you get half a beer. Just educate the bartenders on how to pour an English ale!!!!! read more

Came here on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy. It seemed like the spot to go in Murrysville, as many people were waving at one another pull into the lot and mingling at the tables outside. The outdoor space is large, with plenty of picnic tables and chairs. The indoor space is pretty large too with space for a small band to play at the front. I ordered the Lilith's Cherriot beer and really enjoyed it! It had undertones of cheery, with a slight tartness, and the classic ale flavor. They also had Moes on site that day giving out free tacos and nachos, which was fantastic ! It is a great brewery to relax with friends, listen to music, and enjoy a beer. This place is great! Best of both worlds. Comfortable setting indoors, and out. Love the spacious bar and set up inside. Loads of beers on tap. Sampling is encouraged. I chose the Octoberfest out of the 17 choices. 8.2 percent alcohol gets you Big Bad Buffy. Outdoor seating is cool, and has covered, and uncovered areas to hang. This was our first trip to this location. It's much larger than the original in Mt. Pleasant. I know that it's the old Rivertown Brewery location. When you pull into the driveway their was picnic tables all outside where everyone was at. Lots of decent room inside but not much more compared to the original location. Why is the place so large but maybe 10% is utilized for patrons. Anyhow I liked the BIG sign out front. I was disappointed they didn't have Helle's Belles, my favorite but the Pilsner hit the spot for sure. read more

Overall, this was a great and pleasant experience for my fiancé and I! We had a sweet cider from a can and it was very flavorful and tasty! The beer was 8$ which is slightly steep, however. The ambiance was warm and inviting! Overall I'm very happy with this brewery! read more

We have been to Helltown twice now since moving back to Murrysville this past August. I went once with my parents, and I brought my young children and husband here to meet friends on a cold evening in January. We think it's great! Helltown has a pretty large selection of brews, so definitely something for every palate. They have ciders to try occasionally, and they will let you sample anything on tap. Both visits we have purchased a six pack or two to bring home. One of our favorites is the brown ale. They have fun merchandise if you want to pick something up to wear about and show your support for their craft. I think some nights they have food trucks come in so you can purchase food. On our recent visit, we brought dinner in from a local restaurant and had dinner and a couple of beers with our friends. It's a great spot to hang out in any season. The patio has heaters and a cover so you can sit outside but still be warm. Inside has heaters that can be blazing and take the chill off. Overall, it's a great vibe and going earlier in the evening is a family-friendly thing to do. What parents don't love family-friendly things to do that also include a bit of "adult stuff"? :) read more

My friends and I went on a very hot day and there was no outdoor seating on the patio so we were sitting in direct sunlight. I definitely think those tables would have benefitted from an umbrella which would have made the experience much more enjoyable. The music wasn't loud enough or there were no near by speakers so they outside parties weren't able to enjoy the music playing. They also don't sell food so if you are hungry you have to wait for the food trucks at 4pm or have a near by pizza place delivery pizza. They also did not have any sour or fruit beers so we stuck to the wine mules which were very good. Overall my experience was pretty average and I would try another brewery in the future. read more

This place is awesome! We had never been to the area and Rob gave us a great warm welcome. He went through the beers with us, I ended up getting a flight so I could try four. I had him pick the beers because he was super knowledgeable. I let him know what I typically drink and what I have liked in the past, he asked questions and all four beers were a hit a hit!! Helltown has fabulous beer. I am a big fan of their Mischievous Brown Ale and they have some great seasonal pumpkin beer, as well. The Export location is just a stone's throw from our house and we regularly make the short trip down the hill to enjoy a fresh pour on days when the weather is nice. Their tap room isn't anything fancy but the service is great. During COVID, they've added additional outside seating to accommodate everyone. I recommend taking a ride on the bike trail and stopping for a beer if you have a chance! read more

They have 17 beers on tap but it's basically different versions of the same 3 beers and I personally don't enjoy any of them. When I asked if they'd ever make a sour one of the workers (who I later found out was a brewer) pointed in my face and laughed. Nice. At least make a decent lager or cream ale or wheat beer. I miss Rivertowne and the selection and old vibe. The new place thinks it's too cool for everyone. You're in export- relax. Another stop on the pour tour for Laurel Highlands. Again, this is great for visiting new places. This was not my first time to this location. Used to come when it was Rivertown. The atmosphere: older industrial warehouse. Brewery is in the back, seating in the front. Small porch on the front for outdoor seating. A bit on the darker side, and a little old as far as seating. But, I liked it nonetheless. The Staff: Jeff the owner is a good dude. Will talk to you about beer and whatnot. The bartenders are always nice, and seem to have fun. The Beer: they have a large selection of beer from both helltown and rivertown. I enjoyed the beer, nothing seemed "off" and I liked all the offerings. I cant say it is the best in the area, but they have plenty of solid options. Overall, this is a really nice place to hang out, and they do have food trucks and events pretty regularly...Along with some pretty solid beer! read more

I definitely liked the beer that I had here. It was a wheat beer. However, due to COVID we had to sit outside and it was freezing. We met friends here and didn't realize we'd be outside so we weren't prepared. They didn't have anything on their site at that time to warn you ahead of time either. I also wasn't a fan of the fact that all they had was a food truck. And because it was a busy time of the evening, they said food would be at least 45 mins to get. This is one of the best breweries in Pittsburgh. Formerly Rivertowne. This location and tap room was always great even before Helltown took over. Now that they have Helltown beer here it takes the experience to another level. First of all the people are great here. You always get great service and it seems like they all like working at Helltown. The people make this place a five start brewery. The beer speaks for itself. They have some staples that I enjoy but they do come up with new stuff throughout the year and it usually is really good no matter what kind of beer you like. The beer menu is so big you will find something that you will like. They are open everyday of the week which a lot of breweries do not do. We love going on Taco Tuesday and enjoy seeing a live band on Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays are good to watch football, baseball, and hockey. On warm days it's nice to hang out outside and on cold days it's nice and warm inside and the space is so big it's good even when it is busy. If you have never been here before or you haven't been here recently make sure to to get here and try out one of the best breweries in the burgh! read more

Two words. Taco Tuesday. Always a great rotating taco and great prices. The brewery used to be totally dog friendly, now they welcome dogs on the patio only. I think another customer complained about dogs inside, so unfortunately our 4 (or 3 legged) friends suffer. Great beer, great tacos, usually friendly and great crowd.
