This dealership was never really known for its good customer service and I was reminded why I normally make the trip from Queens to Huntington Mercedes today. I scheduled an appointment for a simple oil change at 10:30 am, upon confirmation I asked the appointment coordinator over the phone how long my service will take she told me 1 hour so I went ahead and planned my work schedule. When I showed up it was a totally different story, the service advisor at first tried to up sell me on services I felt my car did not need simply because I only drove 5000 miles over the course of 18 months. After he failed at upselling me, now my wait time magically increased to 2.5-3 hours FOR AN OIL CHANGE! I left, drove straight to Mercedes of Huntington and was in and out in 45 minutes. This place makes me look forward to servicing my vehicle. They're accommodating, friendly, and have all around great customer service. Upon walking in I was offered breakfast and refreshments. The seating area is spacious and comfortable. If you have kids or pets with you (I have neither), they have play areas and things of that nature for them. I didn't even have to wait more than 5 mins before my service advisor greeted me. I was taken care of and had all my needs catered to. They overcharged my Mom who is a senior citizen and now two years later we see they made an error on the ODOMETER that shows up on Car Fax 20,000 more than was on the actual odometer. on April 8 I took my gla250 for service (over heating ) as I noticed the over heating issue I took it to the service dept. I was told because I drove the car there I damaged another part Total Cost $ 3700 . I paid . Today I took the car for B service they had quoted me $630 plus tax , when I got there, I was told it would cost $900 . I inquired , well they said we need to change your break fluid for $250 , that is something NEW we have added to the B service . After 20 minutes my service advisor informed me that there was a leak they found , the break fluid had to be changed AND I needed 4 new tires , total cost $3100 . Tires he quoted me as $325 each and mounting for $300 I directed him to do everything other than the tires ( no choice ) . I left the car and left, at home I found the same tires for $110 each at Walmart with a $50 mounting cost . Today I paid $1400 for a B service and I know it was an UPSALE !!! I called earlier for car battery price. The guy over the phone sounded nice and gave me the price and said they would also give me money back for my old one which was great. I came in about an hour later after the call, got a new battery and few other parts (oil filter, cabin air filter and engine air filter). It's a little pricier than after market brands but after taking a close look at the quality and build, Mercedes-Benz makes a better product. Customer service was great but I wish they offered some kind of discount to car owners to who bought their cars from Helms Brothers. In order to get to Helm Bros Parts and Service department, you have to enter through Station Rd, you'll see Toyota's service center first, go in and go past that. During this past snow storm, the blower for the front air system, crapped out the day before the storm hit. It wasn't much at first, but soon after the storm hit I came to realize how important having hot air during a snow storm is. Did Juno that not only does your hot air keep your toes from freezing over and turning purple, but it also keeps the windshield from fogging up. Without the heat, the fog freezes over. And what your left with is the warmth of your breath and your nails to scratch away the ice on the windshield. Peering thru what I can only describe it as a patch on your windshield that resembles a single piece of waffle fry.. Not fun. To top that off, the wiper kept freezing over, and since there was no heat, the ice ripped the wipers rendering them useless. (Wich I replaced a week before : ( So as soon as I could I called Helms and scheduled an appointment. The earliest date for repair with a loaner was two weeks later. I decided to give my adviser a call and explained the unusual circumstance that made me request an urgent repair and loan vehicle. Andy did not promise me anything but stated he would try his best to expedite the repair request. Next day he called stating that I should bring the car in by 11am for the necessary repair and loan vehicle, which I did, Problem was found and repaired under warranty. Received phone call around 2:30 for vehicle pick-up. Returned the loan vehicle and picked up my car repaired and washed like new at 4pm same day. What more can I say! Great experience once again! Scams, scams and more scams! I went in because of an oil leak and was told by the not so nice service person that there were metal shavings in the engine which meant I needed a completely new engine which would cost approximately 11k. I almost agreed but something felt off. Took the car to a trusted mechanic who assured me this was incorrect, changed the oil pan and sent me on my way. To further confirm the scam, I took the car to them for a cert inspection and there was no mention of any engine issues. Needless to say, I will never use them again! read more

This is a great service spot. You are greet when you pull your car in. All of my paperwork was in order and my loaner was waiting for me. I appreciated the service rep letting me know the just in case your car needs this scenario I was just glad my repairs were covered by warranty. Helms Brothers is a very "on the ball" professional company. From the start Lisa Cottagio, my leasing person, did a great job and explained what I needed to know to lease my new 2014 CLA 250 4 Matic, which I order on Dec. 31, 2013. The car finally came in and the driving and feel of the car blew away any BMW (although BMW is a superior car company) I had owned before as well as the looks and design of the model. I have had an excellent experience with the car, even though the run flats don't always last too long, depending on the roads you are travelling on. I had an issue with the hot air issue with the AC and it was finally diagnosed (my service mgr Sean Savage is @ the top of his game and very much service oriented. Professional at all times and very accommodating) and the part replaced. I have always been able to get a loaner car, since I am in the Real Estate business and am need of transportation at all times. This car servicing place is the worst. Once again my car died, this time even after jump starting still dead. Ok so they sent a tow truck to tow my car to the dealers to see what's wrong with it. Mind you it's covid-19 going on, people already in a jam, financially. We asked for a loaners, especially since this isn't the first time that this incident happened to my car, they claim they don't have any loaners only for people that made appointment. How on earth was I supposed to make an appointment as if I knew my car was going to die unexpectedly, they then say they will expedite my service that day, called back the end of day, someone told me that my car will not be looked at because my advisor isn't in the office, what does my advisor been out has to do with my car, he's not the mechanic. I called today, got the front desk ask for my advisor the receptionist hanged the phone up, I called back I was told that my advisor isn't the one assigned to assist me but some other advisor since my advisor was out yesterday. So then why wasn't my car looked at since it's a brand new advisor that was assigned yesterday, LIARS. Anyways I told then I need a loaners, I have a newborn and she has doctors appointment tomorrow, I'm not comfortable taking public transportation or taxis they still saying they don't have loaners. This is so ridiculous, since I got the car it's been nothing but issues with the car. Like it's a brand new car supposedly they sold, so why is it giving so many issues, and in the long run I haven't received any compensation for all this hassle and issues it's giving. I would highly recommend using another dealership for service. I have leased a C-Class Mercedes and had nothing but problems getting my driver's side seat repaired. The driver's seat material which I found out is not real leather has ripped in the same spot twice since I had the vehicle in less than a year-and-a-half. I only use the car on the weekends and it has less than 5,000 miles on it. The service advisor that I was assigned to was Jack Liparoto. Upon the seat ripping for the second time I called Jack to inform him that the seat has ripped again in the same spot. I have left three voice messages on his machine and he has never gotten back to me at all. He didn't even give me the courtesy of a return phone call. With no other choice I took the car to a different dealership and lo and behold the situation was handled immediately and done the right way. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone and they just lost a customer for life but then again I guess they really don't care! Like they say buyer beware!! read more

Brought my car in for "A" service and annual inspection last week and for some reasons the car was leaking oil after I had it back and I could smell burn oil from the vent inside the car. I took the car back to check. My service advisor was Andy Lin. He took care of my car. He had the oil stain cleaned. I scheduled an appointment with Andy for the oil burning smell removal on the following week. However my car broke down on the road because of dead battery just a day before the appointment so I had to have the car towed to the shop. I noticed Andy and he's done a great job taking care of everything and gave me the complementary repair for the vehicle. So I took my 2017 GLS 550 truck in multiple times for brakes noise and exhaust noise to Helms Benz and every time is an excuse they cant hear or see my problem. I bought it back to my own shop and found the problem. My Brakes was loose in the calipers I even made a video I wish I could of showed you guys. Problem was found in literally 2 minutes. If the dealer would take the time to actually check customers vehicles this wouldn't happen. I will order parts and repair my own car, the money is not the problem is the fact the dealer don't give a shit abt customers . And yes I'm a pissed off customer that traveled so many times to Helms and nothing was done. Never again would I purchase anything from Helms Brothers. read more

Every time you go for a help it's like you asking them a favor however, they seem to forget that they are working for Mercedes. Their behavior, helpfulness is the worst I have ever got from a car service. Most of all the advisors are always "busy" every time you need of help, they are not professional at all furthermore, the manager didn't seem to care if the customers were leaving the place happy or not. Obviously the structure comes from upper management and I don't think any of the managers are qualified. They are quick to take your money but never quick to fix the problem. The advisors are lazy MF and always rushing you to leave before they even hear your problems. I can go on and on but not going to waste my time. I've Been going here for about 4 yrs, everything was ok until recently about 2 months ago I drop off my s550 for a check up/tune up, they take the car in with no problem, then they call me hours later saying there was a crack in my windshield, which i thought ok maybe I missed a small crack in the windshield. Anyway, they said it would cost about 1100 dollars to replace, I thought that was high so I went to pick up the car, when I saw the car it had a HUGE crack on the windshield! I told them that wasn't there when I dropped it off, the guy who writes everything down never seen that huge crack either, oh and the pictures that they took of the car didn't show the crack either.. but did they care ? Noooooo they said it could have been a small pin point crack that could have expanded with the sun after they took it and parked it in their parking lot , Didn't want to take responsibility for the crack even tho it wasn't in the pics they took when I dropped it off and not in the paperwork. Long story short I had to replace it myself, I had to replace it myself, in the end I found another place that replaced it and they did it for 300 dollars! Never going back there again.. read more

Dishonest and incompetent! I brought a car here to be serviced in perfect working condition. The service manager Carmine wrote up an order and I had a simple problem which had to be addressed. The service rep assured me that the vehicle needs to go through a complete inspection which is only $135 for the first hour, in order to diagnose the issue, although we both know it is totally unnecessary. Yes it is true sometimes you need to fully diagnose to avoid problems, but sometimes a broken hose is just a broken hose. What should take 10 minutes to replace as it is obvious as to cause, ended up costing 2 hours and $300. Then when the car was returned the entire dashboard was dead!!!! After showing this to the staff they claimed "it was like that when it came in" They had the balls to say to my face that it was broken when it came in even though the service manager saw the car when it came in and took down the odometer number. Deny Deny Deny. I had to go to my regular repair guy and he reset the dash and it came right back up and waste 6 hours of my life to undo what they refused to fix after they broke the whole car. There was no bad fuse either. While the technicians are smart here overall, the slimy business tactics and lack of accountability is outrageous. Save your money and go to a honest repair shop.
