"I've been taking my 2010 Lexus IS250C to Hendrick Lexus Service Center in Charleston for routine maintenance ever since I moved from California two years ago and have always been satisfied--until today. Recently, I noticed that my right-side mirror was loose, although the motor was still functioning. I explained to my service consultant, Chase Fraser, that the mirror's motor was fine and the issue seemed to be a loose compression clip (something I saw how to fix on YouTube). I was given a loaner car, assuming the repair might take some time. About 90 minutes later, I received a call from Chase, who informed me that the entire mirror assembly needed replacement and quoted me $1,250 for the repair, with the part needing to be ordered in about three days. I declined the service and returned the loaner. Upon leaving the dealership, my car's dashboard alerted me that the hood hadn't been properly latched. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with this visit. When I got home, my son, who had also seen the same YouTube video, was able to fix the mirror himself with just a screwdriver, pipe wrench, and mallet, simply tightening the clip as I originally suspected. It's disheartening to think that they would misdiagnose something so simple and attempt to charge such an outrageous price. I'll be looking for an honest mechanic from now on. Sadly, in addition to my experience with Hendrick, not honoring the insurance reimbursement on my behalf and balance billing me for the repair, a completely unethical and illegal practice, David Yarborough, the dealership manager slipped my laptop computer into the things he removed from the rental car. A sheriffs deputy had to make three trips to the dealership in order to recover the computer. He told him the final time that he would leave with the computer or with Mr. Yarborough in handcuffs. It is unfortunate when a business that thrives on service is unwilling to provide a good service for a reasonable fee. After all, isn't that all we have to offer? read more

The reason I am giving 3 stars is because Brendan, the service guy that registered me, was great. However....I was 1/2 hour early for my 7:30 am appt to get a tire changed. I was the third person there. It took them until 8:30 to even get to my car and then over another hour for them to change the tire. I had called the day before and they told me that the tire was marked for me. I was told by the service manager that the tires were onsite but for some resin it took them a long time to get the tire to the service dept. Weird. I offered the possible reason (to the service manager) that maybe since I was not from the area - not a potential repeat customer- and that my tire was waranteed - that maybe I was not considered a priority. He said no that was not the case. Anyway I don't think it should take 2 hours to change a tire. We had an appt. We were the third people there. The tire was tagged for me. I did my research on the car that I wanted for months and decided to purchase a new 2024 IS 350 F Sport. Every time I found the car locally in Georgia in the limited 2024 color, I wanted in Incognito, before I could get to the dealership it was sold. So my husband and I searched the internet to find my car. We saw one here at the Hendrick Lexus Charleston dealership, which is about 250 miles from where we are domiciled. My husband called to inquire about the car listed on their site. Mr. Raymond Rhett told us it had been sold already but told us he would look to see if any sister dealerships had it. Luckily, he found one available at the dealership in Charlotte. It took some effort, but he was able to get the car released and shipped to his location at the Hendrick Lexus in Charleston, SC. I am long distant and was not able to travel in person, but Mr. Rhett said, "No worries" and we started the process online. Once my car arrived three days after my initial inquiry. The financing aspect was quick and easy. The finance guy was amicable and professional.  He had the paperwork to me the next day, identified exactly where I needed to initial and sign. He even sent a return envelope to send it back. My husband traveled to the dealership in person to pick it up. He said his experience was wonderful. $997 is added to each new car for things "added by the dealership". (This is on top of the $699 dealer fees.) I was told the $997 was for: window tint, nitrogen, and door edge guards. Before you pay for nitrogen, read the Consumer Reports online article. "CR's tests show that using nitrogen is not worth the money or inconvenience." They tell you why in the informational article. The article says you are usually charged $5 per tire for nitrogen (4 x $5 = $20). The door edge guards are $140 factory installed. So that's $160. 997-160=$837 is being charged for window tint. They had me at dog treats. Let's face it, you cannot go into a Lexus dealership without feeling like a VIP. Which is great. From Los Angeles and Beverly Hills to New Jersey to Charleston and probably others I'm forgetting, it is actually a pleasure to go get your car serviced. I always wait for my car because it never takes the full 2 hours they estimate so I was escorted to TWO lounges (one quiet, one where talking is ok). I went to the non-quiet, for no particular reason. They made a point of showing me the refreshment area and I spotted a jar that said "dog treats." And I thought, how cool that even the dogs are VIP's here. The rest is typical Lexus stuff. Exceptionally nice service, thorough, explained everything, easy peasy. Location is fine, not as far out of downtown as I expected. And there's a Costco nearby! I don't know if there's much competition with other Lexus dealerships in the area, but I'd definitely recommend this one. Plus I definitely recommend Lexus, after having every car from BMW to Prius (I'm from California and both cars dominate the roads there). This is my 4th Lexus and I don't think I'd go back to BMW. read more

Their check-in process can be a little annoying as my last visit I waited for some time to be acknowledged and checked in for service. Like most dealership service area, the wait to complete service can be time-consuming. The waiting area does have a beverage/snack station, play area for children and even a pet bowl stand. Customer Service - A+ I did find other Lexus service shops closer to my home but when I absolutely will return for the "dealer" must-do services. I had to have NX200t serviced for turbo-gate issue. Service center CSRs could use some training. Drove into the service lane and no one could be bothered to come out. Walked into the service office and not a single CSR even bothered to look up much less greet us. I had to initiate to get a response at all. Now, I don't need or expect a red carpet or fanfare, but when your bread and butter is selling services you may want to think about getting up from your chair or at least paying attention to the opportunity that just walked through the door. We recently went from a Nissan to a Lexus vehicle. The dealership was closed for the day (but we did not realize it) and no one came out to acknowledge us then finally, a salesmen came out and gave us his card said if we had questions to call him. As we continued to walk on the lot an individual (Wilbur Wiggins) who thought it not robbery, stopped and engaged us in conversation and took our information. Wilbur actually had just driven onto the lot and was about to leave for the day, himself. Wilbur called the next day to say what he had to offer and always explained that it was no rush and he is on my time. My son explained that he wanted me to have a car for Mother's Day and my birthday that was quickly approaching. Wilbur made it happen with no stress, no pressure or anything derogatory. He took his time and applied all the effort he had to make me smile and live out my dream of driving and owning a Lexus. How many times to I need to 'unsubscribe' from your unwarranted and unwanted marketing emails when I've already done so many times over? Trying to buy a CPO Lexus from you many years ago was difficult, confusing, disjointed, and downright horrible, last straw being a gang tagged spraypaint can-looking repaint on a GS F-Sport that you tried to pass off as a certified pre-owned. Really weird and confusing limitations on what you were able import from other official Lexus dealerships on the color and engine options that Lexus provides. I went to Lexus of Richmond, VA afterward to find what I wanted. I had a sound system speaker replacement at your location once that I was actually pretty satisfied with. And I thought I had tuned off any subsequent marketing emails from this dealership under 'unsubscribe' until they keep popping up again, so here's my review. Look at Lexus of Escondido, CA to see an example of how one of the best Lexus dealerships is run. I really do love Lexus overall compared to most of the car market today. My 15 Lexus NX 200T A/C was malfunctioning; fans not blowing cold intermittently. A diagnostic was performed at Hendrick Lexus Charleston. I was told I needed a new Ft Evap Core, A/C Recvr Dryer, & Evac + recharge. Totaling $3368.41. I was not financially prepared for this expense, even though it was during peak summer climate. I found out from another source on the same day that all it needed was a computer reset. Performed in 10 min. I enjoyed full -throttle coolness!. 9 mos later, I noticed it was not cooling at capacity so I visited my local mechanic and all that was needed was Freon & A/C regular maintenance for $194.05! I waited to post this to allow ample time to prove itself out. I was so devastated to be mislead from the Service Writer: Bill Ferguson & his Certified Lexus Tech at a prestigious dealer like Hendrick. I feel so taken advantage of as a female & in my early senior years of 69! This is approx a $3100. Rip off if I had caved in, like so many do, going on trust. This makes me nauseous! Terrible customer service at Hendrick Lexus Charleston. Once you have purchased your car and drive it off their lot, they really can't be bothered with you. I was reaching out to them about why I hadn't received my title. I emailed and called multiple times, and never heard back. On my final call, I mentioned to a receptionist that I was going to write a YELP review. Shockingly, I got a call within the hour. I talked to a finance manager who said he would "look into" my issue and call me back. Never heard back, Bank of America, who had my loan, left them 4 messages, and they never heard back either. Turns out, Hendrick Lexus Charleston did not fill out the form correctly and the bank was trying to get them to fix the mistake so they could get me my title. But, since BofA could't get them to call back, they were forced to FED EX me my paperwork so I can go to the DMV and stand in line for an hour to get my title. Hendricks Lexus Charleston needs to learn there is more to a dealership than shiny cars, friendly salesmen and free cookies. read more

This was the worst car buying experience ever. Our sales person was nice and professional, and we agreed on a new vehicle and a price with out problem. She told us she got us a great price and interest rate. Her office was papered with various consumer reviews touting Lexus as the most reliable vehicle in the world. We signed three sheets of paper sealing the deal and thought we were done...but OH NOOO! Then you have to wait an hour to see their F & I guys to "complete the paperwork to get your tags" What you actually have to do is wait until you're tired and ready to get the heck out of there and then face a high pressure sales pitch trying to sell you an extremely expensive additional warranty for everything not covered by the 4 year 50 thousand mile warranty. This guy proceeds to tell you that the warranty is not "comprehensive" like most manufacturers warranties but is rather "exclusionary"..in other words, if it isn't expressly covered, its your responsibility and that that you're dumb if you don't get it because "the electronics are complicated and expensive and if the computer fails its going to cost you $11,000 to repair it" . He also told us that the paint job isn't covered and that the week before a bird shat on a new car hood and ate through the clear coat and they had to repaint the entire hood. So I asked him what percentage of computers failed within three years and he replied more than you would think, which led me to ask why you would put crappy systems on luxury cars and he said the U.S.government forced them to install systems that weren't proven. We told him three times we would take our chances...we could afford to take the risk. He still would not let up until I stood up and told my wife we were leaving, at which point he told me he was going to go get his GM, that they would probably decide "they wouldn't sell us a car anyway." But the worst thing was that we overheard an elderly African American gentleman in the hallway asking his F&I guy for five minutes to call his wife and discuss the deal with her and the F&I guy REFUSED!!! Because it was late and he had spent "enough time " trying to close that deal.. These people are arrogant, dishonest, misogynistic, and possibly racist. You expect better from a "Luxury Car" dealer, and you should. You're not going to find that here. We did buy the car...but it leaves a bad taste in our mouths every time we get in it reliving the buying experience and the way the elderly guy was denied basic human decency. Oh, and the F&I guy was right about one thing..we discovered our paint job has a chip in it in a non contact area the next day. We were shown the car in a dark area in the parking lot so maybe it was there then. Is that covered or not? We'll see. read more

**NOT A STEALERSHIP** I had the pleasure of working with Steve, Clark, and Sierra in the service department. I am incredibly grateful for the customer care and their commitment to getting it right. I have my LX470 serviced regularly in Brooklyn and have had it inspected at other dealerships-- it's a 15 year old truck with some character but in overall good condition. Unfortunately I had been misled by the last dealership I went to for service and inspection-- they somehow missed that the car was missing one of four catalytic converters and told me the timing belt has been changed when it had not been--and driven away by unavailability and crappy attitudes at the Lexus dealership in south Brooklyn (they don't have time for anybody who hasn't spent $60,000 there), and long story long by the time I got to Charleston the truck was in need of $2000+ of maintenance. I was aware of only about $400 worth of the problems. Luckily, Steve informed me that Hendrick Lexus of Charleston provides a 20% discount for cars 10+ years old, and was even willing to work with me further. It's the COMPLETE OPPOSITE experience from dealing with other Lexus dealerships, let alone the horror stories you see online. Their service techs were working for Lexus when my car was new, they know it inside-out, and I'm just so thoroughly impressed with how the whole team does business. Bonus- the 2019 RX350 Loaner is icing on the cake. read more

I always feel that I am getting the straight deal when I bring my vehicle in. I love the fact that he gives me heads up, 2-3 service rotations ahead if I am going to have a major service. The cost of ownership is relatively low on a Lexus, but when it comes, it's a straight TIGER UPPERCUT to the wallet, so being able to plan it out, makes all the difference. Who doesn't like to shop around these days for the best price? What it all boils down to however is that you get what you pay for. Recently I considered a Lexus alternative service center in the area to save a few $'s and really attempted to give them my business. However the usual service that we have all come to know with the 'real' Lexus experience was absolutely lacking - up to and including a ride to and from the establishment so that I could pay the approximate $900 dollars for my 90k service. In the end, I had to contact the 'knock off' Lexus service center 3 separate times to get all my questions answered and truly felt like I was intruding on the mechanics day. I ended up driving over to Hendrick and chatting with one of the service representatives - and within 15 minutes I was out the door with a new 2015 loaner - and a promise to have my 90k service performed for just slightly more than the other quote. Which by the way included a more comprehensive list of repairs and inspections than were offered by the alternative provider. My Hendrick service advisor was polite, efficient, and knowledgeable - and made the experience as enjoyable as possible. More importantly, his estimate was exactly what was charged when delivered. My freshly washed vehicle was ready in a timely basis the next afternoon and has such a smooth new performance that it was clear a true Lexus mechanic was behind the wheel.
