Hendricks Regional Health is really about what you'd expect from what qualifies as a "regional" hospital. It offers vastly superior care to the majority of Indiana's county or rural hospitals, however, for those one county away in Indy it doesn't begin to compare to most Indianapolis hospitals and can't handle near the complexity of Indy's larger medical networks. My family has long had a connection to Hendricks Regional in a variety of capacities, though I'm obviously focusing on patient care. Both of my parents have been served here on multiple occasions with mixed results. My mother ended up being transferred out due to the complexity of her case. My father, whose care here was most recent, was treated kindly even if I somewhat felt like once his prognosis was determined to be poor (he is now in hospice) his care was dismissive. My overall thoughts? Hendricks has grown a lot and Danville is the main location and hospital with multiple medical buildings. I've spent several days here recently with loved ones and seldom saw the ER overly busy. Staff seemed friendly. It's important to note that this is not a Medicaid facility. They do offer the full spectrum of care, however, it seems like for more complex cases they'll likely defer to an Indianapolis network (I've had this happen twice with family). The hospital decor is simple yet clean. Rooms seem to be largely single-person. Most recently, my loved one was in both ICU and a med-surg room. Staff were friendly and helpful. I did find they were a bit casual about helping someone with personal care in front of others - which I find somewhat disrespectful, however, it improved once I brought this up. I found the food here to be pretty good. It's incredibly better than IU Health, for example. Hendricks is increasing its professional partnerships, as well. For example, I know they're part of the Mayo Clinic network and one of the doctors who consulted with my loved one was also in the Community network. Overall, I'd likely call Hendricks Regional a solid mid-range health facility that I wouldn't hesitate to go to for basic healthcare needs. For more comprehensive matters, I'd likely consider alternative options. Facilities are good, patient care is generally good with a blend of skill and smaller town compassion. Weekends are kind of shut down - you have to be careful about what entrance you use as some are much more difficult to access on weekends. I generally use the ER entry and it works fine. For those in Hendricks County, Hendricks Regional will likely meet most needs and for my Putnam County family it's likely worth the effort to make it here instead of deferring to the smaller county hospital in Putnam County. Always growing and improving, Hendricks Regional is a solid option for those in the area with basic healthcare needs but definitely not a destination hospital. read more

I love this hospital. I had a great experience on the childbirth center with all three of my deliveries. The staff are kind and thorough. They have wonderful lactation support and excellent nurses. My OB is the best! read more

The Doctor in the ER almost killed my husband due to a misdiagnosis. Therefore we have been reluctant to come to HRH. mostly I think it was because no one listened to us. I had a family member admitted there recently. They took good care of them in ER and admitted to a room in reasonable time. Once admitted it would take long periods of time to get a call light answered. Family member said they had previously called frequently for restroom and thought that might be why. All staff were very friendly and kind. Discharge planners were excellent. Some snow/ice between parking spaces was concerning to get through. Beautiful facility. read more

considering all the reviews I can't believe someone hasn't done anything. I will sign myself out and have my husband drive me if a certain doctor is working. he is horrible, treats you like an inconvenience, if you struggle to find the word he rushes and only makes for higher anxiety. I'm also curious, what happened to at least hydrating patients with Iv fluid while they are waiting through all the tests. I've had nurses get ready to add because I have Sjogrens I always have the dry mouth etc.. even if he's all they can get, that type of treatment and dismissal of test results because of weight etc.. it's not okay. slow down on your commercialization and focus on the patient care in the ER. unfortunately I do end up in situations because of auto immune issues read more

Just got of the phone from Hendricks Brownsburg Hospital. Had an appointment with Dr. Jason Cooper for my annual review (which was set many, many moons ago). I have been a patient for over 20 years (as well as my family members, who are now adults with children, who go there). Dr. Cooper is a fine physician. His office called. Said that they have to move my annual eval from May to "July"...would not say why. I said that this was too far off in the future, been waiting (patiently) some time. I needed to see him for coordination of my health. The lady on the phone basically said too bad, will be moved, no exceptions....As I began to complain, she began to TALK OVER ME AND WOULD NOT STOP. HAD TO HANG UP. She was not apologetic, didn't offer any possible solutions, just get on the train or its leaving without you. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH HEALTHCARE TODAY. TOO BIG. TOO MUCH MONEY TO BE HAD WITH THE "NEXT PATIENT". WHO CARES ABOUT THE NEEDS OF THEIR PATIENTS, JUST HEED THE MESSAGE, GET IN LINE. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE PATIENT RELATIONS. NO EXCUSE...WE ARE THE PATIENTS WHO ARE PAYING THE OUTLANDISH FEES FOR THEIR SERVICES AND THEIR JOBS. So, I have done the only I could...I am now a new family practice patient with IU Health (Methodist office in Brownsburg). I have gone to IU Health (downtown, 16th street, IU West, IU North - urology, radiation therapy, labs, MRs, CTs, etc.) since I was diagnosed with cancer, 5 years ago. I am still here and cancer free...thank you IU Health and thank you Jesus. Wonderful, thoughtful physicians and staff, WHO DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TALK OVER THEIR PATIENTS. THEY LISTEN, THEY CARE, IT'S WONDERFUL, CUTTING EDGE HEALTHCARE, GREAT MEDICINE, GREAT SUPPORT STAFF...I CAN ATTEST TO THIS. Horrible deplorable Hospital treated my mother who was having TIA's horrible due to her dementia in 2016.

Without going into details I am posting my frustration with Hendricks hospital in Danville. B arrived her Sunday in great pain (8 to 80) in need of a cement job on her back for a fracture . Couldn't get it done Sunday or Monday but they said it would be done today. Now they say they don't even have the equipment! Maybe tomorrow. No surgery today. Sorry nurses, this is not on you. Slow as a turtle glue to the floor. Nobody seems to care about telling you what's going on

Visited the immediate care for plain dysuria, no co-morbidities, no complicating symptoms. Staff was fine. Saw a PA and still received "physician billing" which is ridiculous but to be expected in corporate medicine. The PA ordered a work-up for dysuria that the lab billed at over $600. Six hundred dollars. Six hundred dollars on top of "physician billing." I can't even begin to explain how absurd charging $600 for a vaginitis panel and urine culture is. I have had the same lab tests at other institutions for less than a third of the cost (this is before even factoring in insurance). I honestly thought it was a mistake and called the billing department. The customer service rep said there was no mistake and "we charge regular market rate." I said "No you don't, I've had the same tests elsewhere and can show you what is normal to charge." Rep: "Oh we don't price-match." So they aren't charging anywhere near market rate and are willing to lie about it. If they are price-gouging this severely for a dysuria work-up, I can't even imagine what Hendricks Regional Health would pull on the poor souls that walk in the door with more serious conditions. Frankly, this hospital is a joke and I wouldn't go there for any reason. I will be discouraging everyone I know from visiting this place. read more

I do not mind using my real name, which is James Hufstetler. I got very sick with an infection and finally surrendered and went to the Emergency Room about 2:30 AM Monday morning, and I had to stay there until Friday evening. The workers there are so very good; they were kind, caring and efficient. In spite of the earliness of the hour, they were fast on getting me to a room and seemed to be cheerful about taking care of me. I am glad to say this about Dr. Reid, (or Reed): He immediately knew and ordered the correct antibiotic to knock down the infection. His treatment was so effective that I began to feel much better in under 9 hours. He listened to my wife and myself, and told us what was going on in a way we could understand. The food was good, I would say all of it was among the best. The cafeteria workers were so nice and were quick to get it up to my room. I wish I had the words to express how grateful I am to those nurses and the aides who helped me to get better. To everyone who helped the elderly man in room 2022 this past week, my wife and I are very, very grateful for your kindness, respect and competency. May God bless you all! read more

Went to ER. I was diagnosed with COVID. They physically locked the door to the room I was in and would not let me out. I had forgotten my phone in my car, but they would not give me a phone so I could call my family to tell them where I was. I was there for days. No phone, no TV, not allowed out to use bathroom wash hands or get cleaned up. They didn't talk to me and since my family didn't know where I was I had no stimulation or communication during stay. Filed a complaint and have not received a response and its been over 60 days. read more

I had an MRI. Pre-procedure nurses were arguing amongst each other. One ran over my foot twice with a cart. When the surgeon received the film, his exact quote was, "I wouldn't pay for this. Terrible. I went in with high blood sugar and had to spend the night. They released me with blood sugar over 400 after their cafeteria pushed carbs on me. The staff was mostly inattentive and rude. During my stay there, I did not get to speak to even one doctor after they admitted me. If you live in the area and your life is not in immediate danger, drive an extra 15 minutes to Avon and the IU Medical Group hospital there. You will receive much better care. read more

I brought in a disabled person to the Hendricks ER Danville. Besides A*****who is a nurse helping take patients back to get serviced, everyone else seemed to be kind and helpful. A***** claimed I had gotten into her face regarding an issue, when the individual that came with me to help in this most difficult, emotional situation was a witness that I had not, but only asked a question. I have left a message for the director of the ER department to call me back. I will see if she does. Unfortunate 1 bad apple can spoil a whole bunch. Went in, while visiting Indiana for a wedding. I had, had some chest pressure but good color and no breathlessness. I wanted to have my carotid listened to, since my mother had a blockage at my age. It was a quiet Saturday. I am a 54 year old non smoker and extremely fit. I had my 4 year old grand daughter with me and a pain of 3/10. I was looked at, EKG, given a chest x ray and given two aspirin. I left about 45 minutes later. I found out, when I got my bill, I was labeled a level 4 care patient, the highest and most expensive level of care and my bill was nearly $3,000. Very pricy carotid check. My insurance wouldn't pay since I have a very high deductible. Just a warning, do not go to the hospital unless you are actually dying. I do think hospitals should disclose their pricing and not let it be a mystery until the bill finally comes. Huge mistake. read more

Receiving good care on the. 2nd floor and the in house doctors are great. They are very atentative, informative and actually listen. The hospital is very clean & modern, the food is good and most of the staff do a wonderful job. ER Admission area Saturday morning: my husband brought me in using a w/c because I was so sick and the only thing that was said to us was, "have her sign in". 5 people standing around and no one asked if they could help. Lucky for me, shortly after that I was taken to the back and given excellent care by the gentle, kind and caring people. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. My grandmother was rushed here via ambulance, because it was the closest hospital and her lung collapsed. None of the nurses were wearing their masks. They all had them below their chins. They tested her for covid-19 and moved her onto the covid unit while waiting for the results instead of holding her in the ED. This woman has beat cancer 3 times and every time she gets pneumonia she almost dies. The last thing she needs is to be exposed to covid-19. Her nurse did not put on the appropriate PPE until after entering her room, and then took it off before leaving. After her results came back negative they kept her in that unit because they "had no more available beds." When it was time for her to be discharged the nurse lied to her face and tried to make her think she was imagining things (I was there and heard everything. She lied.) it took someone from the IV team 4 hours to come to her room and do something that took 10 minutes max. Then after signing the discharge papers we waited almost another hour for someone to come with a wheelchair to wheel her a total of maybe 100 feet. We started walking out, because transportation was taking so long. Suddenly all of those lazy nurses rushed to their feet and grabbed a wheelchair that was 10 inches from my grandmothers room to take her down. I should not have to cause any type of scene for them to do their jobs and act like they give a crap. Worst experience ever at a hospital. RNs and Drs are vey good. It got busy today just after I arrived. I was only there for about two hours with some minor scrapes and a suture to the forehead that I didn't feel. Got plenty of pills to bring home for spasms and headache. I felt welcome by the staff even though it was pretty minor. Thanks gals. Must also mention Avon emergency transport. This hospital is very very far from Indianapolis and it takes forever to get there. It's smaller than most of the hospitals in Indy but very quaint. The people in the gift shop were really nice and they have flowers, balloons, and a lot of gifts stuffed in a very small area. I had a horrible experience with the ER at Hendricks Regional Health. I went in for extreme pain due to sciatica. Before going, I called to see if they could do anything for me. After getting the runaround and then finally disconnected I decided to go in. At the desk I explained my condition and what it was causing it. They took me back, took my vitals and asked me the normal questions. After the doctor came in and talked to me, she said "what do you expect me to do for you". I thought that is what doctors were for! In the end, she said that there was nothing that they could do for me even though they have all of the equipment that is necessary to confirm the cause of my problem and treat the condition. I assumed that due to Covid they would be want to answer questions via the telephone to avoid unnecessary visits. After asking about this on multiple times, I never did get an answer, just several inquiries about why I was not paying my bill for about $1,000 for no services rendered. It is all about the money for them. Steer clear folks. read more

I wouldn't and couldn't recommend this hospital for any one using Medicaid services. The treatment I received was deployable. I was there for a 2nd hip surgery. The 1st went very well. Pay source was marked as private pay. Because I had no insurance. The 2nd was Medicaid. What a major difference. The 1st time I was there 3days the 2nd I was out the door 24 hours after being admitted. Without the proper exercise from rehab what should have been 6 pages end with 1. So 7 months later I can't walk! Back to the Dr. A 3 hour trip in pain. To hear him say it not the hip its the muscles. Ya think???? I was humiliated when they change me in front of my visitor. Because unknown to me I had wet my self several times Before I was changed. So they decided to change me while a friend was there. Never asking her to step out. I was still to numb to stand so the drag me to a bedside commode. Clean up and than changed the bed and put back. Saw the Dr. 1x he couldn't even look me in the eye. Took them 3 attempts to give me an epidural before the Dr. stepped in to do it. That was very painful. The next day I was booted out. Now with a new hospital. I'm getting extensive rehabilitation for my hip 9 months later. But now I'm walking with a lot less pain. No I would recommend this hospital for any one using Medicaid services. read more
