1 star -- Extremely unprofessional and discriminatory treatment of a family I have never experienced such unprofessional and disrespectful customer service at a medical office. My husband had a 1:00 PM appointment and mine was at 1:30 PM. We arrived at 12:53 PM with my new-patient paperwork already completed and printed. We brought our 4-month-old, 1-year-old, and 4-year-old children with us. There were only a few other patients in the office, and there was more than enough room for our family to sit without disrupting anyone. There had been an accident outside and paramedics were briefly assisting a woman who had fallen. They left shortly afterward. The manager, Wanda Wallace, approached us and told us our children could not be in the building together because of "space." Let me be very clear: our children were not taking up examination space, they were not being disruptive, and they were simply sitting in the chairs designated for our family while we waited. I explained that my husband could go first for his 1:00 appointment, and approximately 30 minutes later I would go for my 1:30 appointment. The children would not be going back for exams with us. We were more than willing to cooperate and find a reasonable solution. Instead, Wanda repeatedly argued with both my husband and me and claimed she had verbally informed me of this policy, which she absolutely did not. At approximately 1:15 PM, my husband had already paid his copay and STILL had not been seen. I was checked in and STILL had not been seen either. So essentially, the office was running behind, and somehow their lack of timeliness became our problem and our children were being treated as the inconvenience. Wanda then disrespectfully printed out paperwork that she said had been emailed to me, as if that somehow addressed the issue. It did not. Nothing about the paperwork justified treating our family the way we were treated. The other staff members we encountered were polite and calm, but Wanda's attitude completely ruined the experience. When I asked for an HR or corporate number to address the situation, she responded, "If you did your research, you would know we're a privately owned office." That response was incredibly condescending and completely unnecessary. We came to this office for routine eye appointments, arrived early, completed our paperwork, and were prepared to cooperate. Instead, we were made to feel like our children were a problem simply for being present. If you have children or are a family looking for a medical office where you will be treated with basic courtesy and respect, I would seriously reconsider not coming here. Management should understand that being privately owned does not give you an excuse to treat paying patients disrespectfully. Unfortunate treatment for such a beautiful office. Wanda Wallace who is there office manager made huge scene over my children "taking too much space." Mind you, two of my children are infants and one is a bit older. All were sitting in the corner of the office with my wife, who also had an appointment. I got an appointment fairly quickly and I have nothing but praises to give to Dr. Henry and the staff that I came in contact with. Customer service and staff are horrible!!! I had my insurance provider schedule an appointment on 1.13.25 for my yearly free eye exam for the following day at 11:30am The morning of 1.14.25 at 8:39am I had a medical emergency between myself and my 3 month old. I called at 8:44am to ask if I could reschedule my appointment due to medical emergency and the EXTREMELY RUDE receptionist told me there is no rescheduling unless I pay them 50$ or provide them with a doctors note confirming my medical emergency or i could just not reschedule at all. Stating that cancellation must be made within 24hrs (which could not have been done because the appointment was made within less than 24hrs!) But I was also scheduled by my insurance provider and no one gave us any of their policy. Guess who took her insurance and 5 referrals with her and will not return. The lack of empathy and intrusion. However, there is one problem with one of their rules. Not all patients are adults. In my case I'm a single mother with 3 children. Two of my children had appointment but one who is 8 years old did not have an app, so she couldn't get in. They expected her to stay outside in the heat by herself. They care less for their patients. I stayed letting my oldest outside to take care of the little one. The only reason I stayed was because my oldest really needs his glasses and can't miss school anymore. It was really an emergency! I'm really sorry for the doctor who I think is a good professional, but I'm not returning. The manager lack of flexibility, understanding, logic, humanity and respect. She really needs to go to school and learn more about how important is to treat patients welcomed. Her words were "that's your problem" "rules are rules and you have to read them in the website" Also, if you look at the picture, the waiting room is empty. I had an appointment with them today at 10:15. I showed up 15 minutes early. By 11AM, I was still sitting in the lobby. I left after getting a refund. Why is the medical profession the only one where the practitioners expect you to tolerate chronic lateness? I'm aware that they have a practice of over-booking appointments. I arrived at approximately 10:20 A.M.  I stood in front the building and followed protocol by calling to let the office know that I had arrived. No one answered the phone, and finally when someone answered (at least 5 minutes later) I was put on hold.  Please keep in mind that there was someone else waiting to come in and there were employees inside that saw us at the door and did come to open it. After someone arrived to open the door, I was asked if I had an appointment, I said yes, then I was told that I had to wait because I could not accompany my son to his appointment, with my newborn child. I explained that  she is 4 weeks old and that I did not have anyone to watch her.  The staff member that was at the door said that she would check to see if my son could still be seen.  She returned to the door with paperwork, asserting that I could come back at 2:00 P.M. provided I found someone to watch my child!  Not only was I beyond offended, I was extremely inconvenienced that I drove from College Park to Stockbridge only hear that my son could not be seen. read more

When I was scheduled for my 8am appointment the receptionist said "first one in,  first one out" so naturally I was under the impression that I wouldn't have a long wait time for my standard yearly vision exam.  I ended up waiting for the doctor for over 30 minutes! I My appointment lasted for an hour and 15 minutes and it was just a routine exam. When I inquired about the wait time even though I had the first appointment I was told "Oh we schedule 2 or 3 patients for the 8am appointment". I can't understand why they would stack patients during a pandemic,  not to mention scheduling 3 patients at the exact same time when there's only one doctor.  No one including the doctor apologized for the wait. When the doctor put the staining drops into my eyes he rested his finger on my face. I never saw him perform any hand hygiene and I never saw any hand sanitizer the entire time I was there. When he placed the eye drops in my eye my eyelash touched the tip of the bottle. It bothered me because it made me think that someone else's may have touched the tip of the bottle. Obviously this would be an issue during a pandemic when the corona  virus can be spread through eye contact . I asked him if they tossed the bottles out and told him that I felt my eyelash touch the tip of the bottle and he responded that they do toss the bottles out especially during this time period. It was pretty clear that he was lying because he put the bottle right back where he'd gotten it from with about 3 other bottles. There's no way that he would know which he had just used because they all looked the same. Also, this time I was there he told me that my vision was pretty much the same a last year and I would not need any corrective lenses.  That was a little bit bothersome because the year before he recommended that I get glasses. I've heard about doctors offices that add on services just to get insurance claims to make more money. It made me feel that they recommended glasses last year even though he said I didn't need them this year just to make some extra money. I hope this isn't true but that's what it seems like. I came here, looking for a new eye doctor. My frames were from a different office, but insurance wouldn't pay for new ones, so I just wanted to get new lenses. They told us that they didn't have the pattern to cut the lenses, so they wanted me to relinquish my glasses for a week or two to send them off. So I had to wear contacts (which I hated hence, the glasses). They had me sign a waiver that stated that if my frames got lost or broken, while in THEIR care, that they weren't responsible. When I FINALLY got my frames back, they were messed up, uncomfortable, and crooked. I went in to have them adjusted, and the lady told me that because my frames did not have those little wire nose pads, they couldn't be adjusted, and if they were uncomfortable, I could get a new pair of frames. I had had them for a YEAR, no problems. I went back to DePoe, and in five minutes, the guy had solved my problem. Dr. Henry himself seemed to barely acknowledge my existence, even during the exam. Staff is very friendly but not as competent as they are nice. Ordered 2 pair of glasses, one for distance and one for reading and when I picked them up, both glasses were for distance. I go back to have them correct the prescription. They charged an additional $60 ($30 per pair) because they forgot to charge for sun protection when they originally did our order. Three pair of glasses (husband's) were $780. They weren't designer frames that I normally get. Way over priced, especially for the inconvenience. When I got them home I noticed the frame was loose. I had to make an appointment to take them back because they weren't allowing people to walk in. They basically accused me of sitting on the glasses because the metal piece where the screw goes into the frame was bent and they don't repair bends. I told them if anything was bent it happened in their custody and they told me they can't help but recommended an eye glass repair store. $780 and they can't help me!!??!!! Our family will never go there again, we'll purchase our 5 pair of glasses somewhere else on our next eyes exam! read more

I had an appointment at 1030am. I was told to be 15 mins early. I got there at 1015 and the door was locked. Several employees seen me standing there and did not acknowledge me at all. I finally knocked because it was cold outside. Finally some young little girl with an attitude came to the door as she was rolling her eyes. She opened the door and I told her I had an appointment at 1030. Very rudely she asked, "what's the name?" I told her and she rudely closed the door back and locked it and went toward to the desk. She looked on the computer and rudely came back rolling her eyes and said come back at 1030 because the office is packed...I seen one patient in there. The little girl that came to the door acted like she really didn't want to be at work today I decided then that this is a place I didn't want to do business with. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE..BTW, the girl that came to the door didn't even have a mask on... I didn't check the stars on the reviews before I scheduled an appointment with this place. I should have. I see now why they have the review rating they do...Terrible terrible place. I'm a physicians assistant and I deal with people everyday and I've never seen any of my colleagues act like this toward a customer/patient. This place accepts my insurance from my job (Grady Hospital) so that's why I chose this place.. I went to this location this morning for my 7-year-old. I also had my 3-year-old because we know there's no school or anything like that. The office manager tells me the only way I can bring my 3-year-old in is if I'm getting him examined as well. That has nothing to do with COVID-19. If you're letting him in you're letting him in! I said okay I agree to getting him an eye exam as well! We get in here they are slow is all outdoors. Then everyone took off and went to lunch and left us waiting there. At this time I got there about 5 minutes before my appointment because all of my paperwork was already filled out so we're looking at 12:00 an hour and a half of being there and almost not having anything done. I say in front of the lady the manager hey I'm going to go get my kids something to eat because they're a little edgy and I'll be right back. The young lady said okay no problem. We stayed in the same plaza when it got something to eat came right back and she goes oh the doctor's going to lunch now so we have to reschedule you and shut the door in my face. The gag is that this lady is also an African-American female. There was another young lady in there that she offered water to and everything like that! I would not recommend this place to a dog. They were charging me $689 for glasses for a 7-year-old. Saying it's because he uses the computer for school. Now of course I have insurance and that was kicking in but that's still way too much money for a 7-year-old to have glasses that aren't bifocals! Run this place is bad news read more

This is my first experience and I must say it was okay Dr. Henry was very kind and very professional he even entertained my son with all his questions. He was very thorough and took his time during the exam ;however I'm a little disappointed that when I called to follow up on my son's order I was told that I did not pay a fee of $28 for scratch resistance which I have no problem.... but I was NEVER informed about this therefore they decided not to send my son's order and I was told by the young lady who answered the phone(Kaneisha) said "people always say they are going to pay and never do and it wasn't a matter of the glasses just sitting there they just want paid for". So they decided to blame me as if I dropped the ball. Had she turn down the sarcasm(nice/nasty) and presented more of a customer service attitude and took some accountability I wouldn't be so bothered since mistakes happen. Let me tell you about my experience with Henry Vision Center Today...with all of the new online eyeglass companies...and after getting my prescription last month. I decided to give an online company a try because of all the cute styles. So I called the office because I didn't see the the PD distance on my prescription....now the office manager proceeded to tell me that's not apart of the exam and advised that will be another $45....PD is not apart of the exam that you already got paid for????? So bottom line I will never go back...they will nickel & dime you. Everyone else I called Lenscrafters, Eye Gallery, Sams said it IS apart of the exam and you should NOT pay extra. Shame cause otherwise I liked his office...his office wanted to charge me $600+ for lenses w/insurance!!!!! That did not include frames. So my future business and possible referrals are worth a $45 dollars. Ok - so I will take my business and half my prescription somewhere else. read more

The office manager is HORRIBLE...HORRIBLE...HORRIBLE!!! She has the worst attitude I have ever encountered in a professional office! I am not sure how she got the position she is in because she has no customer service skills at all. Not only was her attitude nasty but her whole staff is dressed in nice matching scrubs while she was in a thermal shirt...not the best way to represent his practice. She also thought it was more important to take personal phone calls while we (patients) were needing assistance. She treated her staff poorly and talked down to them. She will most definitely be the end of Dr. Henry's practice which is a shame because he is the nicest Dr. however her nasty attitude makes it not worth while to visit this office! First let me say I did like Dr Henry personally. That being said, I would never go back...I had lasik surgery several years ago and its not quite time to tweak my vision with surgery again but I needed something to help my vision be more clear until then. Dr Henry suggested progressive lenses so $540.00 later I was given my glasses. I had NO idea that there would be such a small window of opportunity to be able to see. Unless your head was pointed in the direction of what you were looking at there is no way to see out of this type of lens. You cannot move your eyes to see or read. You must turn your head. I could not get accustomed to this without headache or neck pain and, frankly, in my job I just cannot afford the time that it took to look at my computer then try to focus on any paperwork. It just wasn't a good fit for me. Went back and they made the vision area a little bit bigger (they wanted to charge me $40 for another office visit but finally waived the fee) but I was still unable to get my eyes adjusted to this lens. I finally just had them made a single vision lens to help with my far away vision. I asked about the difference in price from the progressive lens to single vision. They advised they would not refund me anything because the lab had a no refund policy just because you couldn't get accustomed to the lens'. So essentially I paid $540.00 for glasses to watch TV and drive with. I am beyond shocked that they were unwilling to refund me when I feel it was their fault in not explaining that progressive lens' are difficult for most people (yes, they told me that after the fact) otherwise I would never had put that option on the table. Customer service is DEAD at Henry Vision. Expensive lesson learned. read more
