Wife and I used to frequent this place. New Management and it's been a while since we've had dinner here. First clue should've been walking into a restaurant on a Friday night at 6 PM and being the only people in the restaurant.. imy wife ordered red chowder, which didn't look like red chowder. It was cold and it was nothing but mashed up ground up potatoes.. the chicken palm, was overdone and burnt. Quality food and really really lackluster service. I have been going to Henry's for the last five years. Today 7/312026 3:30 changed all that. I ordered sea scallops with their seafood stuffing and bread crumbs. What I got were bay scallops floating and I mean floating in some kind of white sauce. brought it to the waitress attention. I explained the size difference in scallops. I then explained what it should look like. When it came back they took some liquid out and threw some plain bread crumbs over the top. I ate some but this was unacceptable. We ordered chicken tenders as an appetizer they came with our meals and my have they gotten smaller. Also I think you need to check the coleslaw I think it had been sitting around for a while. I know the waitress and cook are new but they need to sit down and go over your menu. Okay now the waitress she was nice but with two tables in the whole place a little less talking sitting at the counter would be better. To be fair on my 3-star food rating, this is a case of "coulda woulda shoulda." First, I love diners and I believe this is a very good one. Second, i waffled over whether to get breakfast or lunch (pun intended). Third, I am a picky eater. Having said that, I decided on breakfast and got French toast. I used to dislike French toast because everyone makes it soggy and eggy. I whip the ingredients, add cinnamon, and dunk the bread quickly. I also air fry it for slight crispness. So it is unfair for me to hold Henry's to my standard. Soooo... the French toast was soggy, eggy, and rather bland tasting. The potatoes and bacon were cooked perfectly and delicious. What I "coulda, woulda, shoulda" gotten was a burger and fries. I saw someone else's. The burger looked tasty and had a big pile of fries. Please do not take this as a negative. I just didn't like the French toast but you may love it. I definitely need to go back for the burger! Service was friendly and quick and the place was busy on a Thursday morning @ 11:15. read more

Ambiance of this place is nice enough...a unique diner. The service was lacking. We were the only 4 people in the place and it took over 25 minutes to get our simple breakfast order. When it came out, grilled muffin and english muffin were cold. Muffin was burnt. We were looking forward to trying this cute diner, but were very disappointed. read more

I returned to Henry's after getting Fish and chips one night and loving them. Tonight upon my return my food was horrible, the fish was barely battered and flaky, fries soggy, the steak and cheese was ok but very pricey. My son got the tender dinner he said wasn't bad but $17 for the small amount he received was crazy! Not sure I will return in the future. Not to mention the waitress who was more worried about joking around with her friends than cashing me out, then proceeded to tell me to watch out so she could throw a pen to the other waitress. read more

What the heck happened to this place?! Was craving the delicious red chowder they used to have but apparently the new owner isn't using the same recipe. What I got was a luke warm cup of ground up potatoes. Honestly, how something like that can even be served is beyond me. Server didn't offer to take it off the bill. Stopped in at Henry's Diner on Saturday morning December 6. Such a sweet place. The breakfast - Eggs and Pancakes and coffee were cooked perfectly. I drove 40 miles from Rumford RI and preferred to support family diners. Service, food and kindness makes Henry's Diner my choice in Connecticut. Will be back! A three is all I could give if even! When you read the low star reviews I can honestly say they are not lying. Went once for breakfast and it was awesome. Went for breakfast today and after noon no more breakfast just lunch . Took almost an hour to get a mediocre hamburger, a wiener and some onion rings. Short order cooks moved at a snails pace while talking on the phone. I watched food sit on the counter for 10 mins with no warmers before being brought to the table, and it was slow! I can't ever fathom this place full to capacity with the weak skilled staffing. The restaurant needs air purifiers due to the burnt food on the grill or in back room. I actually got a sick headache from the grease atmosphere. People closer to door actually had fresh air so they didn't have my experience. Overall I won't be back... way too many fantastic places in that area. It's average diner food that will cost you 20 bucks for a bacon burger with fries. Hope they read a real review. read more

My wife and I ordered two large grinders. When I went to pay, I was apoled. They charged me $38.80. The most I have ever paid for a large grinder...I don't know how the owner sleeps at night! Definitely not worth the money! read more

Went to Henry's for my birthday lunch 10/30. Got there 11:30 thinking, "great, we're here before the rush." Even at noon, there was no rush and we waited 40 minutes for our food! For the most part, there were only 2 tables and 1 person at the counter. The guy at the counter came after us and got his food way before us. (can tell he's a regular how he and the cook chatted) I asked the waitress to check on our food. She mentioned 2 other people just walked out. Food was okay. But $55 for 3 people for lunch at a diner is high. The cook is in no hurry to get the food out. One of our meals was luke warm while the others were steaming hot. read more

A small diner I stopped in while visiting the town. Great prices that were very affordable. I ordered the clam chowder soup and it came out very quickly. The biscuits were so warm, fluffy, and fresh and taste SO good when dipped into the soup. Service and staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Only issue was that it can get really hot in there without any A/C so be careful if you're ordering warm food. Decorations were nice and I liked the casual atmosphere. Highly recommend! read more

Gave it a second chance, seeing that it wasn't packed. Was greeted and waitress took coffee orders. After 5 minutes she returned and took our breakfast order. Both of us ordered eggs over easy, meat, hash browns and toast. Order came to the table in 10 minutes. First thing we noticed was on both plates, one of the yolks broke and ran all over. Sorry, but I'll break them myself, and don't need help, lol. Just a little detail that ruins it. Toast was not cold, bacon was semi crisp, sausage was fried a little too much to the point of black. Hash browns did have a different taste, which means that other than standard spice was used. Service was good this time. IMHO, the check was a little on the high side, compared to the other diners in town. Nothing special here, just a typical small town spot. 50-50 chance we would come back. Always went by and it always seemed busy. We decided to try it on a Sunday morning at 7:45 am. A couple of empty tables so we grab one. Sat down for almost 3 minutes till acknowledged. One waitress was shooting the breeze with a table next to us. Didn't even look up. A waitress finally came by and said she'll be right back. Finally after 50 mins the drink girl broke down and took my parties order. Apparently only one waitress on duty, which is ridiculous. Classic diner breakfasts but prepared so well. The pancakes are AMAZING and so are the eggs benedict. I will say this place gets VERY popular and busy on the weekends; get there early so you don't have to wait. I read the 1 star review where the people didn't get service quickly. I have never had that experience eating there multiple times. Really enjoyed dinner there last night with my son. He had the fish and chips and I had a burger and grilled cheese with fries. We both had garlic knots. We are later in the day so not a lot of folks in the restaurant. The garlic knots were freshly done and exquisite. I didn't expect them to be so good in a diner but they were awesome.
