a cheese pizza in a box

Decent, but not overall great. One of those pizzas where it's not really good or bad. Would probably give it another chance if in the area, but overwise I would pass.

Steak & Cheese Grinder aka Bread Grinder

Even though we live in RI, my wife and I have been ordering grinders take-out from Johnny's Pizza for over a decade and always loved it! I have no idea what has happened in the past few months, but the food quality and quantity have gone downhill drastically. We ordered this past Saturday 8/2 and for the second time in a row, we were extremely disappointed. This is a photo of their steak & cheese grinder, whereas they barely spread steak on the bread, we couldn't even taste or find any cheese on it, and the taste was very bland. In the past, there was seasoning, and the bread was absolutely filled with steak. We felt like we were ripped off, paying $17 for a bread grinder and soggy onion rings like this, plus neither grinder was even toasted as requested. Why I even left a good tip for take-out is beyond me, but we'll never return. So disappointing, I guess we'll just look for another place to order our grinders from now on.

    Huge Cheeseburger Wrap & Fries

We wanted to grab a quick bite before our hike around Quinebaug Lake. Johnny's Pizza was close and had good Yelp reviews. We called in an order to go, and it was ready in about 20 minutes. We weren't sure where we would be able to eat, so we opted for wraps instead of pizza. We selected: * Cheeseburger Wrap * Chicken Caesar Wrap These sandwiches were both served warm, and included a plethora of hot fries. They were very nicely prepared and tasty! The cheeseburger wrap appeared to have two patties, and was so substantial, I could only eat half. The sauce tasted mayo based and there was an abundance of melted cheese. Somehow, they were able to prepare this without creating a leaky mess. Nicely done! The Chicken Wrap was also tasty, warm with a delicious, mild sauce and an abundance of chicken. My co-diner could only finish half of this wrap, and we each consumed only half of the fries. The pizzas that were coming out of their ovens looked great, I'd like to try one of those. Everyone was masked, hand sanitizer was on the counter, the place looked clean and tidy. It's in a strip mall, so ambience is limited, but the food looked good. We'd be happy to return.

Update: same thing again. The broasted chicken is just plain disgusting. The fries were black from being dropped in old oil and the chicken was pretty much the same. All done with this place. We usually get the broasted chicken and its the best take out or eat in fried chicken around. It is cooked in coconut oil if I am not mistaken. The past few times have been sub par. It is either being refried in used dirty oil or you be the judge. As soon as I brought it into my car the smell was a dead give away. Burnt dirty oil. No offense but it now seems to be all kids in there running the kitchen and check out. I don't think the owners or cooks I always saw there would approve.

Very good menu. Delicious food. Great service. Friendly staff. Prices are fair, but Lousy coleslaw.

And various entree dishes. Board posting listed soups available for the day and another board showed daily specials. We ordered the garlic/olive oil knots, corn chowder, shells with meatballs (comes with two garlic knots), and the Italian panini with fries. The chowder arrived quickly and had plenty of potatoes, corn, and bacon in a tasty broth which wasn't too heavy which was a nice touch. Seasoning was good and potatoes still had a good bite to them so they weren't mushy. Great choice. The garlic knots arrived in a basket on a tissue paper with a good amount of olive oil in the bottom. Parmesan cheese covered the top of the knots. They had nice crunchy tops with a very soft interior. There was enough oil so we could dip the knot into it to soak the oil into the knot. Very tasty item and would definitely order again. The pasta arrived with plenty of sauce and three good sized meatballs. The sauce was thick enough so that it stuck to the pasta and filled the shells nicely. The meatballs were seasoned very well and were a great accompaniment to the pasta. The panini was brushed w/Evo, and had Salami, Capicola, Ham, Banana Peppers, Roasted Red Peppers & Provolone w/ French Fries. The French fries were very well fried, large with the skins still on and had a great crunch on them. The panini was on what appeared to be ciabatta bread which was well grilled and nice and crunchy. There was plenty of meat, cheese and peppers and was very delicious. Not normally a panini guy but would definitely order this again. All in all lunch was excellent. Great little place in a great little town. Our server was very friendly and helpful and made sure we were well taken care of. There will be return trips to the restaurant. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant and easy access to and from the main road.

I'm so disappointed! When I walked in you could tell that they were understaffed and the staff that was there didn't seem to care much which I didn't understand until the manager Dawn Marie started berating one of the workers in front of everyone. So loud that most of the people seated could hear her. No worker deserves to be treated the way she was acting. It is no surprise why no one wants to work there. It took an hour to get the food and most of it was already cool and hard. This place is much better on days she isn't there as I've had good hot fresh food from there before.
