Since the new ownership, it isn't the same quality or quantity food. We used to get the broasted chicken dinners a few times a month. Tuna salad salads once a week. The chicken pieces are smaller and greasy. Salad has less tuna, cheese. Higher prices doesn't help. The pizza is fair at best. We will probably stop ordering from there. Sad because we have been a customer for 20 years. Hope they make improvements. read more

Even though we live in RI, my wife and I have been ordering grinders take-out from Johnny's Pizza for over a decade and always loved it! I have no idea what has happened in the past few months, but the food quality and quantity have gone downhill drastically. We ordered this past Saturday 8/2 and for the second time in a row, we were extremely disappointed. This is a photo of their steak & cheese grinder, whereas they barely spread steak on the bread, we couldn't even taste or find any cheese on it, and the taste was very bland. In the past, there was seasoning, and the bread was absolutely filled with steak. We felt like we were ripped off, paying $17 for a bread grinder and soggy onion rings like this, plus neither grinder was even toasted as requested. Why I even left a good tip for take-out is beyond me, but we'll never return. So disappointing, I guess we'll just look for another place to order our grinders from now on. read more

We wanted to grab a quick bite before our hike around Quinebaug Lake. Johnny's Pizza was close and had good Yelp reviews. We called in an order to go, and it was ready in about 20 minutes. We weren't sure where we would be able to eat, so we opted for wraps instead of pizza. We selected: * Cheeseburger Wrap * Chicken Caesar Wrap These sandwiches were both served warm, and included a plethora of hot fries. They were very nicely prepared and tasty! The cheeseburger wrap appeared to have two patties, and was so substantial, I could only eat half. The sauce tasted mayo based and there was an abundance of melted cheese. Somehow, they were able to prepare this without creating a leaky mess. Nicely done! The Chicken Wrap was also tasty, warm with a delicious, mild sauce and an abundance of chicken. My co-diner could only finish half of this wrap, and we each consumed only half of the fries. The pizzas that were coming out of their ovens looked great, I'd like to try one of those. Everyone was masked, hand sanitizer was on the counter, the place looked clean and tidy. It's in a strip mall, so ambience is limited, but the food looked good. We'd be happy to return. read more

I do take out from Johnny's at least once a week and we think it is great. My wife and I love the marinara sauce to dip her chicken tenders and my French Fries in. I always get a Chicken Parm Sandwich which I truly enjoy. My wife gets the the Chicken tenders and a small basic salad and she always enjoys both. My son always get the Buffalo Chicken Pizza which he loves. Always great services by Julia and all the cooks and owner are super friendly. Highly recommend!! read more

I've been a Johnny's pizza lover for years, they even made us a bunch of pizza for our pre wedding party the night before the Big Day!

Not as good as when Johnny was there manning the till. He made sure the food was the best it could be. It was a matter of pride. The place was bought by 2 brothers and it went downhill fast. Now, it's back being run by the family, but it definitely needs a good review by the OG. The steak sub is made with a lesser quality of beef, but it is still reasonably good. The servers aren't giving out a warm welcome either. The Everything Pizza is still good, but not great. I do believe the love is gone. read more

Update: same thing again. The broasted chicken is just plain disgusting. The fries were black from being dropped in old oil and the chicken was pretty much the same. All done with this place. We usually get the broasted chicken and its the best take out or eat in fried chicken around. It is cooked in coconut oil if I am not mistaken. The past few times have been sub par. It is either being refried in used dirty oil or you be the judge. As soon as I brought it into my car the smell was a dead give away. Burnt dirty oil. No offense but it now seems to be all kids in there running the kitchen and check out. I don't think the owners or cooks I always saw there would approve. read more

I finally get them to say they can deliver and we are 3 mins down the road from them and they state they can't deliver to our whole street !! Even tho we are in there area to deliver. Don't order delivery from this restaurant. They load their drivers up with way too many deliveries, and if you're one of the unlucky ones whose order shows up cold, an hour late, they refuse to refund your order. If you get your pizza fresh, whether from eating in, picking it up yourself, or winning the delivery roulette, the quality ranges from decent to really good. This review has two parts ordered a large mushroom pizza- a friend recommended Johnny's so I decided to try it. Here is my review: Taste - D- Appearance- C The pizza was bland, had no distinctive flavor whatsoever. The pizza just was not very good at all and I would not come back again- The more Important reason I won't be back is because multiple staff members right in the area pizza was being made and prepared had masks on but pulled down below the mouth- completely against CT Gov Lamont's mandate that all restaurant staff need to wear masks covering nose and mouth. I barely have the words...last night I ordered a pizza from Johnny's for the first time..and when it was delivered..the bill came to $25..I handed him $40 and he looked at me like I had 10 heads..it wasn't like I handed him a hundred dollar bill..I processed to ask for my change..the delivery guy had no change for my two 20's...so he went downstairs and brought up a few ones and a bunch of coins! He just assumed I was tipping him $15! So today I called to complain and ask for the rest of my change..the manager seemed annoyed and kind of rude and just blew me off asking how much i wanted back...not too long after a different guy showed up at my place gave me the change I was owed and told me I was no longer aloud to order food and they will not be delivering to me! This is how the manager of this establishment handled this situation. First of all...the amount I tip someone is MY choice..and second I should not be basically forced to tip you extra because you didn't bother to have any $5s and $1s on you..which as a delivery service you are kind of expected to have to make change for your customers. There are pizza places closer to me and I've tried them all. I'd rather just call in my order and drive a bit farther, it's done when I arrive. They do not skimp on the toppings. You order chicken and its full of chicken. Peppers and onion - full of peppers and onions etc. The crust is light and crispy. It's not a greasy type of pizza. Good flavor and fresh ingredients. Johnny's pizza serves up a clean honest Italian grinder about the length of my arm (for a large). At JP, you get exactly what you ask for: layers of meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and condiment. So far I've ordered it three times here and each time I make new additions/modifications. This time it was Italian grinder with lettuce, tomato, cheese, fresh onions, oregano, and vinegar & oil, not toasted. Next time I will request extra extra vinegar/oil to turn it into my little taste of heaven. I ordered the small size this time, and it's perfectly portioned for a filling meal. i called in an order, the girl on the phone talked so fast, i could not understand her, i kept asking to repeat herself, she was getting put out. She asked for my text, i said i don't have texting on my phone. she said they would call, i waited 45 mins. in their lot no one called.i went in a girl on her cell phone sitting in a booth slowly walked up, still looking at her cell phone. i told her what i ordered, it was sitting there, they could have called! i payed and walked out with a cane in one hand, balancing a pizza in the other. a year or two ago, they would have opened doors, and sometime brought the purchase to my truck.she never looked up from her phone and went back to her booth! A restuarant is only as good as the wait staff, this person i would not have working for me. People like to be greeted, not barely acknowledged, with your face in a cell phone! place has changed! won't be back. Since Covid 19 you have been doing good. We call in our orders waiting in the car until you call us that the order is ready. You have signs on the door to wear a mask Now the sign is off the door and customer's are walking in without a mask and you don't tell them to leave.
