This is a small eatery (I counted max 39 seats between tables and the bar) with difficult parking. I was able to get a spot right in front b because I went to lunch, but the parking lot has signs saying it is for employees of the wood shop next door, and no trespassing in the lot across the street, so I think street parking is the only option? Service is great, very attentive and friendly. The food is what earns this three stars. I tried a stuffie, German onion soup, a Farmhouse burger, and a key lime Mason jar. The stuffie was a little small, and most of the flavor was imparted by the ham and the squeeze of lemon. The German onion soup, I'm not sure why it was German except to not be French? Outside the name difference, the onions were way too large, and there was a total lack of flavor going on in the soup. The crock was very large too. The burger and fries looked pretty good, and I enjoyed the flavors here. The fries were rough hewn, so there was good crispness from all the edges. The toppings of the burger, and the bun, were also hearty. Unfortunately, my medium rare burger was more like raw meat with surface browning. I'm a big fan of rare steak, but ground beef needs a little more cooking. Also, the house made ketchup is really more of a marinara sauce. If I'd ended up eating more of my plate before they took it away to re-fire the burger, I would have asked to replace the ketchup. The key lime Mason jar was e everything you want to wrap up a meal. Great flavor, lightness, citrus. I did have to bring most of it home but, unlike the burger they brought back in a box, I'm excited to get back into the key lime. From an accessibility stand point, there is no ramp to get in nor handicap parking, so the evidently don't want your business. Once you're in, there are some seats you could get in, but if this place were full it would be difficult to navigate for anyone. The bathroom is a single room, but very spacious and nice. This place is adorable. It's small but it is decorated beautifully and has a great esthetic. Service was ok. She was pleasant but seems tired. The clam chowder was very tasty. It didn't have very much in it as far as clams and potatoes but it was delicious. Not your typical NE chowder but good all the same. The little crackers they serve with it are good too. The onion soup on the other hand was just too much. The onions on top get soaked into the soup and it just becomes a bowl of mush. Not appetizing at all. For apps we got the quahogs and fries. The quahogs although tasty were tiny. Clam size. I'm not sure if it's because it's off season or what but I've never had one so small and at $6 per you'd think you'd get a little more. The fries came to the table and we asked if they were always so dark...they were burnt and hard and the waitress said "sometimes they are darker sometimes lighter" well friend these are charcoal. She got us a new order which came out quickly and they were cooked correctly. They had Parmesan and garlic and still felt like they lacked flavor. We added salt it helped a bit but the shining star was the homemade ketchup. It was delicious. We finished our meal with the carrot cake. The photos do it no justice. It is huge and so amazing. Best we've ever had. I was told it's made in house I'm not sure if that's true or not. Overall a big disappointment. I don't think the best thing you've eaten at a place should be dessert or condiment but that's the case. I would say go for the cake and cocktails. read more

I made a reservation and was on time but my table was given to another customer who did not rsvp and was asked to wait for 20+mins. Happened twice. The interior is cozy and tight; but very cute and nice. Like its name; it's like a farmhouse decor. The outside architecture is all black and it may look closed but it is the restaurant :) ! This is a hidden gem of Putnam! Been trying to get here and today did not disappoint. I understand why this establishment has received high ratings. This unique bistro/ dining type restaurant is so enjoyable and comfortable. I wish I could try more on the menu! My guest did have the farmhouse burger which was enormous and looked delicious. He said it was yummy and was served with a side of hand cut French fries. The server Rosemary was professional and friendly making our lunch here a wonderful experience. I visit Elizabeth's whenever I am near the area. To put this as simply as possible... The dishes here are executed as if the kitchen staff is showing off for a national foodie magazine. I am not sure how every dish seems to be a blatant attempt to upstage your favorite restaurant and your family's most talented home cook. Even the salads are over the top with amazing flavors and ingredients! Yes, the salads AND soup. Because I have to try all the best restaurants in a neighborhood... I can only do that during the hours Elizabeth's is not open. I just can't justify eating anywhere else when their doors are unlocked. My friends and I visited this restaurant for our first time on Saturday (10/11/25). Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience from the moment we arrived. Knowing we were early, we were lingering out front, looking at a drink menu when a woman opened the door and shouted "We don't open until 11:30" as if we were intruding rather than future customers. No polite greeting or, "We'll be with you shortly" just hostility. We seriously considered going somewhere else but had just driven 45 minutes and were on a tight schedule. In hindsight we should have left. Once we were allowed inside, we immediately noticed that the interior was dark and dreary. The corner booth I was seated on was covered in black masking tape and extremely uncomfortable. We tried to let in some light by opening the wooden blinds, only to find they were coated in what looked like years of dust and they wouldn't open. Cleanliness clearly isn't a priority and the entire place needs a thorough cleaning and new seating. That's probably why they don't open the blinds during the day. As for the food, it was homemade and flavorful but my friend's french fries arrived cold. When she mentioned it to the waitress, the response was a flat "I'll let them know" - no offer to replace or reheat them. When we later asked to have our leftovers wrapped to go, we found the fries had been thrown away because the waitress "didn't think she wanted them." That assumption, without asking, was frustrating and unprofessional. Overall, the experience was unwelcoming and underwhelming. We definitely won't be returning. read more

Yelp reviews led us to this cozy spot near downtown. They have lots of seating outdoors but we opted to stay inside. I had a grilled cheese sandwich with short ribs and it was piled high with meat and caramelized onions. I almost never take home a doggy bag, but I did today. It was more than I could eat. I have always liked this place but am always shocked by how the prices rival Boston, Providence, and New York City. Despite this, the portions are quite generous. My last visit, my salmon portion was visibility much smaller than others that were being served at other tables so that was a little disappointing. I'll start by saying this place is decorated beautifully. From the shoe stretcher lined mirror, rusty tractor seats on the wall, black and white buffalo plaid its cute and cozy. It's an intimate place inside. Tables are tight and it's kind of loud when the tables are full. We saw the reviews and since in the area we decided to check them out. The food was presented beautifully. The food was okay. We ordered. German onion soup. It is s very flavorful snd very rich. Not much broth more like puréed onions. It was tasty but we both got through half of it before it t just b came too much. We ordered a ceasar salad with salmon. The salad was very fishy. As in strong smell. Didn't have much in the area of seasoning... it was bland. We also ordered the curry chicken salad sandwich. When you use too much curry your salad will become bitter and chalky and that is what happened here. Salt and pepper was missing. There was arugula on it which I normally like. The fact that the sandwich was already a bit bitter this just added to it. A bit less curry, salt and pepper a pinch of cumin and cilantro instead of arugula would be better. Truffle fries were okay. We also ordered carrot cake and chocolate espresso cheesecake to go. The desserts were very good We got a to go order and they forgot to order it and we left with our bag only to find that when we got home my kids food was missing. We were driving around New England, staying in Putnam for the night. We Yelped & found this gem of a restaurant. So quaint with 10-12 seat bar & beautiful little dining room. Some of the best meals I think I have ever had were prepared in this quaint farmhouse style restaurant just outside of downtown Putnum ct. They certainly pack them in, so a reservation is highly recommended, and are usually booked weeks in advance. Very trendy decor for the ambiance. The hostess told us not to leave a message on the machine as she may not check her messages for a few days. She also messed up our reservation a few times. Last Friday, she just was plain rude! I messaged the owner Heidi via FB, and then emailed her again about the situation, but I did not get a response. Now, I decided to go public with a bad review. We recently moved to Woodstock, and have already visited EFH several times, sometimes 2-3 times a week. The food has always been good, except one time which we found a hair in our salad. We were swiftly seated, and a good beer and wine selection made available. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. She explained what a "stuffy" was (delicious mixture of ham and clam with ? stuffed into a clam shell and baked, a Rhode Island "thing.") Really good. Our vegan found the Veggie Burger (Elizabeth's recipe, quinoa, kale, sweet potato, peppers, onion, black beans, served simply- lettuce and tomato) very tasty, although mayo had to be exorcised and ketchup had Parmesan which was swapped out. I had a delicious and filling Farmhouse Meatloaf Wrap (mashed, aged cheddar, house made chipotle mayo) and tasty side salad, my wife enjoyed the Curry Chicken with Housemade curry mayo, pecans, raisins, served on a crusty roll. Someone in Putnam recommended Elizabeth's Farmhouse to us for dinner that evening and we didn't have reservations. We arrived to a very inviting little farmhouse, and we were greeted immediately. The hostess advised that they were booked and she didn't have a table available right away and would see what she could do or we could grab the last two seats at the bar. We were fine with the bar, so sat and started talking to the bartender. There drink menu was fun and unique, and the menu interesting. Mr. B started with the Maple Walnut Old-Fashioned cocktail that was delicious with a slight hint of maple, it wasn't too strong. I went with the Pumpkin Pie Martini which was pumpkin pie in a glass. The Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts sounded unique and we ordered those to start. They came in a bowl covered in a beautiful Kung Pao sauce and served with chopsticks, very creative. They were absolutely scrumptious and there wasn't a leaf left. For dinner we shared the White Pizza. Again so creative. The pizza came with a pair of scissors so we could cut the tender crust in the sizes we wanted. The pizza was perfectly cooked, the sauce rich and creamy and cheesy. We enjoyed conversation at the bar, and finally finished and full we said our goodbyes and left so very happy. They do have a patio area if the weather is nice and parking is plentiful. What a wonderful find. Cute place all decorated for fall i sat at the bar and was made to feel welcome by the bartender. She set me up with a stout and a bowl of delishes onion soup to start. The highlight of the meal was a $4 stuffer. Let me tell you I dig these stuffers right in front of my house and have made them for many years. These were simply the best I ever had with Portuguese bread and sausage and a signature mushroom on the top. What was also fantastic was the Korean Brussel sprouts...yummy. The management don't know how to handle success. First of all, the food and the atmosphere is amazing. We were hooked after our first visit, but over time it became harder to cross the trash hold. Their booking policies changed over the years and they came as a surprise every time. First they had a first come, first serve because they did not want to loose on no shows. (There is solution for that) Since they have no waiting area, being in the line for a fine(ish) dinner on the baking sun or bone crushing winter somewhat dressed up is a mood killer even in the car. Then they had something like every restaurant operate with, the combination of reservations and filling the gaps with walk-ins. And we felt normal being turned away if the place was booked full so we can go to our second choice. Recently the policy changed again. We arrived to an empty parking lot and an almost empty restaurant. We did not get seated because we unknowingly missed the full hour seating mark by five or ten minutes and they could not guarantee full service until they need the table. The lady said they seating every 30 minutes to help the kitchen with the workload. If they forced turn around time is an hour, (we did not ask) then I wouldn't wanna stay for sure because even one hour is tight. If the turnaround is 90 minutes, as a restaurant owner I would be happy to get "wanderers" in before the rush for extra business, because in our case the kitchen isn't busy for an another twenty minutes. There was one table and one couple at the bar if I recall. So if they cannot handle few (2+1bar) tables, how would they able to handle the turn around of the third of the restaurant in every 30 minutes? We did not get the option to sit at the bar, nor asked to be cooperative and make sure we wrap up by the time they need the table for the next guests. Not even a quick word with the chef or manager if they can handle an extra couple before all hell breaks loose. For the record, I'm working in the restaurant business for the last 20 years and I understand the aspects of handling reservations. The reason was given to us simply made no sense at all even a tightly run place. Again, the food is amazing and cannot ask for better service. read more

I swear I have not met a more aggressive, rude person in the service industry. I work at a high stress job where people constantly yell at me and engage in difficult situations. When I go out I want to relax, not be engaged by an aggressive, rude minion of hell who raises my cortisol levels and makes me never want to return. I am not sure what her issue is, but it should not be foisted on the customers. Please, get rid of her and hire someone pleasant. People will love you for it. read more

I'm not a drinker but their sangria was probably the best I drink I have ever had and I have been bartending for 20+ years! Since I only drink socially it was a bit strong for me and halfway through the drink I felt it. But it was absolutely delicious and beautiful in appearance too. The appetizers were delicious. Our entrees were delicious. I was so impressed by the quality and taste of the food I literally told all my friends & husband and made plans to come back here ASAP! Service was amazing- 5+ STARS! Our server was a delight and steered me in the right direction on the menu. I had the best strip steak of my life - bar none - great cut cooked and seasoned to perfection.
