I been eating here for 35 years plus and it's still delicious I never had a bad experience eating here and the thing I like about Henry's is I like to get mustard on my fries lol , one day the mustard on my Polish got on my fries because they rap the fries with the Polish and I ate them that way and they were so delicious because I'm a big mustard fan and I was hooked at first bite and never stopped eating my fries without mustard and I only eat them like that at Henry's, so if you never had Henry's this a must try and don't forget the grape drink So yummy and let me not forget about the service, they are awesome keep up the good work Henry's read more

Wonderful Drive-In Stand. Henry's has been in this community for a very long time . Route 66 trail! The outside is impeccable! Well maintained and frankly, one of the coolest Artful signs ever! It's a hot dog stand, seems that's most appropriate here. They packaged the items well, and I did ask for onion. Just communicate well enough, you can get it. Next time I'll ask for well done fries, again, my responsibility to communicate better. Super clean inside dine area. They even sell their shirts here. Fast service, local high school /college kids, which is excellent to see, they did work as a team. You can't go to Cicero and not try Henry's! We came here for an early lunch, and we ordered: +Cheddar Cubes - comes with 12 pieces +a Chicago dog +a Chili dog +and, an Oreo shake Both the dogs were fine, and the side of fries were just okay. The shake was pretty thick and tasty, so that was definitely the highlight of the meal. I've been coming to this place since the late 1950's. If you read my previous Yelps, you'll learn this is my favorite Resto of all time, and that's not going to change soon. Their Franks are a proprietary blend, and the epitome of what a kosher-style Chicago Frank should taste like. Yeah, yeah Vienna yada yada. Henry's frank is distinctive and tasty. Breaking with MORE tradition, there's no NEON RELISH here, nor is there Tomatoe or Celery Salt. It's a different breed of Chicago-Style. And you know what? I'm glad. The sweet notes of relish and celery salt would not do this Frank justice. Same for the tomatoe. The fries here are made fresh for just about each sandwich-small batches. If you can eat them right away, the better. They put the Fries right on the Dog, and it's actually not a bad thing if a few stay on the Dog as you eat it. Give 'em a good dusting of salt, and it's a beautiful thing. In the 65 years I've been coming here, I've never ordered anything else but the Dog, The Polish, Tamales and Drinks. Back in the day, their "BBQ Beef" Sandwich was featured as much as their HotDogs. Recently, I tried one for the first time. Is it going to make me pivot from the Dogs and Polishes? Not at all. But it's a damned good sandwich. The bigger news is: they offer a Taco. I was a little startled when I saw this. But... If you're an aficionado of the "Jack-In-The-Box" rendering of the sine qua non Mexican tidbit, the Henry's Taco is for you! It's an AMERICAN taco-nothing like you'd find in any Mex joint. Doesn't mean it's bad. I've seen Latino folks come in here and order the taco. Must mean somethin', n'est ce pas? Order it "with everything" and you'll get a deep-fried, crunchy morsel with tomato, onion, and lettuce. Like the Jack-in-the-box version, it's intrinsically horrible, but irresistibly satisfying. A food paradox I cannot explain, but I don't care-It's so bad it's good, just like the Jack-In-the-Box iteration. My usual order is a Polish and a Dog, both "With" (sport peppers). Now, maybe every other time I visit it's a Polish and a Taco. Sometimes if I'm very peckish, it will be the full boat of Polish/Dog/Taco instead of the usual gluttony of "Tamale" as the side-dish. They have added a "Jalapeño Sausage" which is OK. Actually, If this was any other stand, it might be the primo order, but it takes a lot to steer me off the heroes of the day. If you're a seasoned Henry-Head try it-otherwise stick to the main course. People talk a lot about "Superdawg" and "Gene & Judes". Both OK, I guess, but they never bit my bippy anywhere close to Henry's. And truth be told, I can't even understand how "Superdawg" got on the list. Overpriced and under-seasoned. I like the Portillo's Garden Dog better. Henry's is a lot smaller than those two pillars of Chicago Dog-dom, but I think Henry's is their superior. Particularly when I got the Polish & fries -- little mustard & onion, and the Polish honestly tasted 5/10. Henry's might be the last surviving relic the town of Cicero has to offer. The Mobsters have been run out-of-town while the local water supply of "Stroh's" beer apparently has dried up! After a brief nostalgic moment, I gathered my composer and made a bee-line to "Henry's" on Ogden for an "Ol' School Hot Dog Fix". I'm here for the Dog & Fries... A vintage Hot Dog joint that for some reason just doesn't get the necessary notoriety. Probably because they strategically pile French Fries to camouflage your depression style dog, or the remodeled brown brick building has the noteable appeal of a dentist office. Along old Route 66 in Cicero sits a building clearly built in the mother roads heyday. With a classic looking sign and 1950s decor on the outside Henry's drive-in is an immediately noticeable building from the road and carries with it an aesthetic charm unique to a bygone era. As I arrived I made sure to snap a quick picture of the outside of the building before heading in. Upon entering I noticed that the dining area is very small. There were lots of pictures of Henry's Drive in from decades earlier posted on the walls and newsclippings to read. I quickly made my way to the counter to place my order. I noticed that they have Green River shakes and inquired as to whether or not they had the actual beverage itself and was disappointed to learn they only have the shakes. I then wanted to use the bathroom which requires an employee buzz you in the door. Once I came out of the bathroom and sat down in a less than ideally comfortable chair I waited for my food as I looked around admiring the pictures and other items involving this restaurant. Soon enough the hot dog was ready and it was time to dig in. The hot dog comes wrapped with fries in a white paper. As I pulled the fries off I got a look at what's on it. this was a skinless hot dog served on a regular non-poppy seed bun. There was a long thin pickle spear, onions, relish and sport peppers on it as well. Overall this was a pretty good tasting if not simple hot dog. I wouldn't say it's top tier but well above average. The fries included here were thick and had a nice potato paste inside. Not too salty and not bland, this was a nice mixture. Overall I liked Henry's Drive-In. While this place didn't blow me out of the water with fantastic food, it was well above average and taking that into account I'm awarding it four stars read more

So, here's a fun story: We were actually on our way to Chicago Burgerwerks a few weeks ago. I guess they are known for notoriously spotty hours. Well, we got there and they were closed. So, at this point, we were STARVING. On the way back east on Ogden, we spotted Henry's. We all ordered hot dogs (and I even treated myself to an ice cream) and we were all happy campers! This is a charming, old school Chicago-style hot dog "shack". What was interesting to me was that it was all women working. I assumed this was likely a family business and there was the matriarch and a few daughters. There are tables so you can comfortably eat in. I would say maximum capacity is maybe out 20 seated. The best laugh was when I said, "We really like it here. We came all the way from Cicero." The matriarch laughed and said, "This is Cicero"! Oops! Ha! Everyone got a good laugh at that one! I guess I got confused since we drove all the way to Brookfield for the other place then had to head back. I did not know Cicero went that far down Ogden! Anyway, nice people, good food and fast service. Those hot dogs (and the ice cream) really hit the spot! Oh, by the way, they are CASH ONLY so come prepared! But my all time favorite thing at Henry's is that they still carry cherry RC from the fountain! My absolute favorite! Staff are all polite and it's a great location on route66. Gotta review Henry's...it's a historic monument on Route 66 AND another first for me with the Hub. There's alot to order from because it is a typical fast food joint, but I say get the hot dogs. You can get them in such a variety of ways. I personally like a double dog with mustard, onions, peppers and a little celery salt. All the hot dogs come with fries. You have to try the hot dogs with the fries. It's an interesting combination...never did it before until I went to Henry's and boy, what a difference. My Hub and his male family counterparts always order the chili dogs. I'm not big on chili dogs, but they sure do love them. Have to give you a heads up, though...it does things to the indigestion system that you don't want to know. According to the boys, it's as good coming up as it is going down. I know...ILL, but I'm just telling it like it is. If you're not really into carb counting, the gravy bread is really an interesting item on the menu. Never understood the bread soaked in beef au jus, but it is apparently a hot item west of downtown. My dogs love the stuff!! Of course, there are other items on the menu, like pizza puffs, tamales, burgers and such, that are decent. But c'mon, it's a hot dog place. There are very few places to find a really good Chicago hot dog outside the Chicago border. They all taste bland or watered down. But not Henry's...steaming is the the way to go with hot dogs. Just a tip...if you are catching lunch, give yourself some time, especially in the summer. There's usually a line out the door, it gets really busy around lunch time. And they don't appreciate you being on your cell phone when you are ordering, so call ahead if you are ordering for others. It's cheap, quick and good, just like fast food should be. After a disappointing dinner at Antique Taco my crew was still hungry. So after driving around dazed and confused Henry's is where we wound up. Henry's is a small place with order at the counter service. The lady working was pretty friendly, and she had this sarcastic humor with me that I totally appreciated. She was a lot of fun. I fall in love with people who make me laugh! Anywho I ordered a hot dog and fry, and I was informed that the hot dog already comes with fries which was cool. My hotdog was awesome. The fries were just okay although my two compadres thought they were amazing. Maybe I just wasn't in a French fry kinda mood. My boyfriend was quite dismayed that I snatched a piece of his pizza puff. I thought he was going to bite my fingers off lol! But, I see why- that Motherf*cking pizza puff was sooooooooooooooooooooooo good. I'm not even kidding. That sh*t prompted me to get off my big ass and purchase one.
