Every town needs a Henry's. The food is always fresh and delicious. It's my go to place when I need a quick meal.

This little store is a gem! We were staying at an Airbnb in the area and wanted to order dinner out but not just fast food style like pizza or burritos. We couldn't seem to find what we were looking and tried this market as a last resort. It was a great decision. They had many fresh, premade, heat and eat meals. We got shrimp scampi and a Greek salad. It was very filling and delicious. They also have a lot of fresh meat packages and other premade food. It was a great find. I live in western NY and travel for business to NE region regularly. I always stop at Henry's when traveling home if I'm in the area. The meat selection is great Vermont beef.. The staff is friendly. A wide selection of cheeses and meats. It's a small shop and usually has a small line for lunch subs and sandwiches for takeout. It's a small deli so don't expect a place to eat inside. Lot's of good food to select from. read more

On top of many fine meats, Henry's had prepared foods like pies and salads, something for everyone. The food is high quality. I haven't tried their venison processing service, but I note it's there... I imagine they'll take care of whatever you kill. Butchers are efficient, friendly and helpful, cashier is adequate cordial. read more

We hired Henry's to cater our daughter's wedding. We worked with Eric, who was just terrific -- funny, calm, professional. He and his team came to the outdoor venue and proceeded to prepare the most delicious food for 150 people ... without one hitch. Not only was the food incredible, they also left the area spotless. Great pre made dinners, beef, cheeses and smoked meats. We LOVE stopping here - out of the way for us but so worth it! We came up from New Jersey when that days long power outage was going on and stopped and got the pre made goulash which came all ready in a large pie tin. When we got to our home all we had was our wood burning stove and candles for 4 days. We put that goulash to heat up directly on the stove with foil over it. It was the best most delicious dinner EVER! read more

Used to drive 45 minutes to pickup meat here. This visit, the kid behind the counter couldn't be interested in helping me at all. First time they ever told me they won't cut the meat for me or check their inventory in the back...for any kind of meat. Asked the cashier on the way out and she just shrugged. Last time I ever shop here....also be careful of the dates, I have picked up a few expired prepared foods. Would not recommend...seriously consider actually helping your customers or employing some adults...especially when they are there to buy a months worth of food! read more

Surprising spot here in town. Loaded w all types of good things. Convenient & full of quality in such a small spot. You can order real Polish hot dogs or a sandwich or hot hamburger w all the good stuff to go. They make their own 4 yr aged cheddar which is creamy, sharp, buttery- better than expected. Solid variety of Vermont locally made pork products like thick slab bacon, smoked cheeses, etc. They bake their own turkey, ham, roast beef. Produce like tomatoes, lettuce, mushrooms, onions, garlic & condiments, pasta, breads, spreads- I really liked the Rose's Hot. Great customer service. read more

This place is famous in the area for their meats. For New Year's Eve, I decided to get a nice NY strip for my wife and I. Bummed entirely. After trimming a quarter pound of fat, I cooked it to medium rare. We were left with a quarter pound of grizzle. So, after dropping $15 on a pound of steak, we ended up with a bit over half a pound of barely edible steak. I won't buy one there again. read more

There is no such thing as too much cheese...or spiced salamis. Being a guest for one night in Bennington, during a rain storm, I was hungry and needing food. Luckily, Henry's was a stones throw away from my hotel. What I wanted was a super market, but I was plenty happy with meats, breads and cheeses. The gals working the register gave me a sweet southern welcome...regardless of the fact that we were not in the south. I love terms of endearment so being called "hun" and hearing "Can I help you sweetie?" were something I really needed to hear - after a very mean officer in New York gave me an expensive traffic ticket a few hours prior. The selection of cheeses made my mouth water, but I was able to narrow down my choice to a sharp maple cheddar and some big, fat, barbecue cheddar beef sticks. I already had bread and wine, so this meal was going to turn my day around, rain, lightening and mean state trooper be damned. The prices were towards the high end, but that's only because the standard of living is higher in the NE and they have a sales tax, which we don't in Oregon. Regardless, it was quality food that I got. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for nibbles to pair with wine. Or for anyone addicted to cheese - myself. read more

I think that I was expecting something totally different - both from the suggestions of friends and Henry's web site - than I experienced when I walked into the market. From what I had seen and heard, I was expecting a wide range of cheeses and sausages and all sorts of little Vermont goodies. But, Henry's is more of an old (and small) grocery store. There were some smoked meats, but nothing that really sparked my interest or appetite. read more

We visited this past weekend for the second time based on our experience last time we were in Bennington. I have to say this time I was left with mixed emotions. We purchased three ribeye's from the meat counter which were incredibly delicious. I couldn't find a complaint even if I tried. However, when it comes to the "aged" cheeses, what they should say is completely spoiled. Out of the five cheeses we bought, three of them were completely inedible. The Maplebrook Farm Burrata & fresh Mozzarella were sour and the $11 Truffle cheese was taking on a life of its own in the version of penicillin. To think that we threw out nearly $30 worth of cheese is nauseating in and of itself but imagine taking a big 'ol bite of what you think is going to be some amazing hand made mozzarella and it turns out to be rotten. Nauseated is an understatement. Thank you for the delectable steaks and the belly ache. read more

Came here to stock up on camping food and picked up some cheese/hamburger blend burgers to grill. I was completely blown away that you could get such an awesome burger for $3 a pound. I should have stopped by again on my way home to bring some back. Try the hamburger meat here. You wont be disappointed. read more

On the contrary to the comment below mine, I happen to love going to Henrys. I just moved here, and there sandwhich meat is DELICIOUS. The workers know what there doing, They are pleasant and happy with each customer, and appear to genuinely like there job. Its a welcoming place to go to, and service with a smile from a cutie is always a plus ;). read more

We thought we had found a treasure when we first visited Henry's. We are headed East again and have purposely routed our trip to vist Henry's on the way. Eager to have quality products for our camping trip. Wonder about hours and days of operation. read more

I wish I had found this market sooner! Their smoked cheese is out of this world! My favorite was the smoked provolone. We purchased the cowboy steak and it was DELICIOUS! I love how in the middle of the store they have meats and cheeses they have smoked and you can just pick out of the bin. Their meats are fresh and cheese is top notch. read more

Had heard good things from my son in law. Stopped when I was passing through town, purchased some ground chuck after reading the in store sign about no pink slime...although the hamburg looked good on outside, when I got home and made burgers meat was all brown inside. Very disappointed. Have not eaten the steaks I purchased yet. Will not buy the hamburger again for sure! read more
