What a breath of fresh air. A small market with healthy food options. Though not a vegetarian, I love their veggie special sandwich. Some items are extremely expensive for what you get, but there are reasonable options. The house-made hummus and curried chickpeas are good values. Breads vary widely. Service can be slow at times, but they don't claim to be a convenience store. Given the extreme difficulty of hiring reliable help these days, I think they do a good job with what they have. Would be five stars if they had some less expensive pre-made or MTO sandwiches. read more

Truly fantastic small market that I recommend without hesitation. They are small and have an eclectic collection of gourmet goods. For example, they carry Yalli hummus and incredibly delicious, freshly baked, gluten free bread. read more

I was planning on rating Powers five stars. The place is great on so many levels. Great staff, great food (seriously worth the stop), but someone who seemed like the owner or manager of the place was so unpleasant to her staff and actually yelled at a delivery man who came through the front door. It made us seriously uncomfortable to see someone humiliated like that. If you're in the area and want to see a really neat building with loads of history and enjoy a great sandwhich, I still highly recommend. Just wish people could practice kindness to rival all else that is good about the place. read more

This place has gone downhill over the past 2 years. They have cut their hours drastically and it seems like the owners just don't care anymore. Here are my observations: 1) Their coolers don't have much in them anymore except for expired drinks and cheese (health hazard) 2) Their normally excellent breakfast burrito was soggy and filled with runny, oozing cheese. 3) Their normally excellent "avocado special" was dry and had no flavor It seems like this owner has just stopped trying. They need to sell this place and move on because this has the potential to be really good again. read more

I like Powers Market because they offer a bit of everything. Some elegant wine and beer, fresh sandwiches, nice cheese, delectable desserts and great service. The building is an antique on the outside and old and classic on the inside. It has limited seating (about 6 small tables) but a lovely wooden porch in the summer. I can reccomend the veggie wrap and some of their more inventive sandwiches. We've also sampled their lemon bars and they make good coffee. A perfect stop on your way through town. Lunch for two with two regular sandwiches will run you $18-$20 with drinks and chips. read more

I've been a fan of Powers since the mid-nineties. Whether for breakfast, lunch, or a quick snack and drink it was always my go-to spot while working at the college and later while living in Bennington. At some point, things changed. Rather than a selection of mind-blowing sandwiches (we're talking sandwiches giving Ann Arbor's Zingerman's a formidable challenge), fresh and delicious cold salads, and great sweet treats the sandwiches became basic and boring and the salad variety was non-existant. I believe that right around this time there was a change in ownership. Don't get me wrong, it's still good. The staff is friendly, they have all kinds of gourmet goodies and left of center groceries, the coffee (Mocha Joe's) is the best in town and they have historical Bennington ephemera. It's just not what it used to be. I still make sure to visit at least once when I'm back in town and if I ever move back (fingers crossed!) I'll be a regular again. read more

Powers Market is part market part deli part take home meal. Amazing bakery items, wine selection, prepared food options not to mention their fabulous sandwhiches. In a beautiful old building with small cafe tables. I suggest the BBLT (Bleu Cheese, Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato) but switch out the tomato with avocado...yum. read more

This place is so great! I got the breakfast burrito with avocado and it was a good size. I also got the blueberry stone which was amazing! The burrito was very good and my family all liked what they got. (veggie burger, roast beef panini, garden salad) All were a good portion size and all our plates were empty! Definitely would recommend and will come here our next trip to Vermont! Great costumer service too! read more

The fully loaded breakfast burrito is delicious! Maybe one of the best breakfast burritos I've had, if only for the fact it is exactly what you expect. The only down side is they close extremely early and the food takes its time being made. That said, very low key hometown vibes inside and a place I will definitely grab food from next time I'm in bennington. read more

This is a great example of a small Vermont convenience store with everything you need. Delicious sandwiches, good snacks and drinks, small grocery section(albeit overpriced) and friendly employees. Powers is slowly declining in its food and service. I do feel the small grocery/organic items are good. (but way overpriced) Since the change in ownership took place, the food quality has gone down. Service is a bit slow and usually I find myself getting overcharged and have to correct the employee. Overall, ok as a store, but not as a deli read more
